⁶ Samuel said to the people, It is the LORD who appointed Moses and Aaron and brought your fathers up out of the land of Egypt.

²⁶ This is the same Aaron and Moses to whom the LORD said, "Bring the Israelites out of the land of Egypt by their tribal divisions."

⁹ You saw the affliction of our fathers in Egypt, and heard their cry by the Red Sea. ¹⁰ and showed signs and wonders against Pharaoh, and against all his servants, and against all the people of his land; for you knew that they dealt proudly against them, and made a name for yourself, as it is this day. ¹¹ And you divided the sea before them, and they passed through the sea on dry ground, but their pursuers you threw into the depths like a stone into mighty waters. ¹² and you led them by day by a pillar of cloud; and by night by a pillar of fire, to give them light in the way wherein to go: ¹³ "You came down also on Mount Sinai, and spoke with them from heaven, and gave them right ordinances and true laws, good statutes and commandments, ¹⁴ and made known to them your holy Sabbath, and commanded them commandments, statutes, and a law, by Moses your servant,

¹⁹ Your way was through the sea; your paths through the great waters. Your footsteps were not known. ²⁰ You led your people like a flock, by the hand of Moses and Aaron.

¹² He did marvelous things in the sight of their fathers, in the land of Egypt, in the field of Zoan. ¹³ He divided the sea, and led them through; He made the waters to stand as in a bottle. ¹⁴ He led them with the cloud by day and with a light of fire by night. ¹⁵ He split the rocks in the wilderness, and gave them drink as out of the great depths. ¹⁶ And he brought streams out of the rock and caused water to flow down like rivers. ¹⁷ Yet they still continued to sin against him. They rebelled against the Most High in the desert. ¹⁸ And they tried God in their heart by asking food for their craving. ¹⁹ Nay, they spoke against God and said, "Can God provide a table in a desert? ²⁰ Yes, he struck the rock and water flowed and streams gushed out, but can he also give food or provide meat for his people?" ²¹ Therefore the LORD heard and he was very angry, and a fire was kindled against Jacob, and his anger also rose up against Israel, ²² because they didn't believe in God and didn't trust in his deliverance. ²³ Yet he commanded the skies above, and opened the doors of heaven. ²⁴ and rained down on them manna to eat and gave them the grain of heaven. ²⁵ Man ate the bread of angels. He sent them food to the full. ²⁶ He made an east wind blow in the heavens; and He led out the south wind by His power. ²⁷ He caused meat to rain on them like dust and winged birds as the sand of the sea. ²⁸ And He made them fall amidst their camp, all around to their tents. ²⁹ So they did eat, and were well filled; and He gave them that which they craved. ³⁰ But they were not turned from their desires; and while the food was still in their mouths, ³¹ The wrath of God came on them, and put to death the fattest of them, and put an end to the young men of Israel. ³² In spite of all of this, they kept on sinning and didn't believe in his marvelous deeds. ³³ And he consumed their days in vanity, and their years in terror. ³⁴ When he slew them, they sought him, and turned them early, and inquired after God. ³⁵ They remembered that God was their rock, that the Most High was their defender. ³⁶ But they flattered him with their mouth, and lied to him with their tongue. ³⁷ Their hearts were not loyal to him. They were not faithful to his promise. ³⁸ But he, being merciful, forgave their iniquity and didn't destroy them; He restrained his anger and didn't vent all his wrath. ³⁹ for he remembered that they were flesh, a passing wind that does not return. ⁴⁰ How often they rebelled against him in the wilderness and vexed him in the wasteland! ⁴¹ Again they put God to the test, and gave pain to the Holy One of Israel. ⁴² They did not remember his power and the day he freed them from their oppressor, ⁴³ when he performed his miraculous signs in Egypt, his wonders in the fields of Zoan. ⁴⁴ when he turned their rivers to blood so they could not drink from their streams. ⁴⁵ He sent among them flies that devoured them and frogs that destroyed them. ⁴⁶ He gave their crops to grasshoppers and their produce to locusts. ⁴⁷ He destroyed their vines with hail, and their sycamore trees with sleet. ⁴⁸ He gave up their cattle to the hail, and their flocks to bolts of fire. ⁴⁹ He sent against them his fierce anger, rage and indignation and trouble, a band of destroying angels. ⁵⁰ He cleared a path for his anger. He did not spare them from death but handed their life over to the plague. ⁵¹ And he struck all the first-born in Egypt, the firstfruits of strength in the tents of Ham; ⁵² and brought out his people like sheep, and led them like a flock in the desert, ⁵³ He led them safely, so that they weren't afraid, but the sea overwhelmed their enemies. ⁵⁴ He brought them to the border of his sanctuary, to this mountain, which his right hand had taken. ⁵⁵ He drove out nations before them and allotted their tribal inheritance, settling the tribes of Israel in their tents. ⁵⁶ But they tested and rebelled against God Most High and did not keep his statutes. ⁵⁷ They fell away and were as disloyal as their ancestors. They became unreliable, like a defective bow; ⁵⁸ And so they grieved him with their high places, and provoked him with their images. ⁵⁹ God heard and he was very angry and rejected Israel utterly. ⁶⁰ And He leaveth the tabernacle of Shiloh, The tent He had placed among men, ⁶¹ And he gave his strength into captivity and his splendor into the hand of the enemy. ⁶² He also gave his people over to the sword, and was angry with his inheritance. ⁶³ Fire devoured their young men; and their maidens had no marriage–song ⁶⁴ Their priests fell by the sword, and their widows couldn’t weep. ⁶⁵ Then the LORD awoke as from sleep, Like a master jubilant from wine." ⁶⁶ And he beat back his enemies; he gave them over to perpetual scorn. ⁶⁷ He rejected the tent of Joseph. He did not choose the tribe of Ephraim, ⁶⁸ But chose the tribe of Judah, Mount Zion which he loved. ⁶⁹ And he built his sanctuary like the heights, like the earth that he established forever. ⁷⁰ He also chose David his servant, and took him from the sheepfolds; ⁷¹ From following the suckling-ewes, he brought him to feed Jacob his people, and Israel his inheritance. ⁷² David shepherded them with a devoted heart, and led them with skillful hands.

⁶ Moses and Aaron were among his priests, Samuel was among those who call on his name. They called on the LORD, and he answered them.

²⁶ He sent Moses, his servant, and Aaron, whom he had chosen.

⁴¹ He opened a rock, and water gushed out flowing like a river in the desert.

⁷ The kindnesses of the LORD will I mention, the praises of the LORD, according to all which the LORD requites us, and the vast good to the house of Israel which He requites them, according to His compassions, and according to His many kindnesses." ⁸ He said: They are my people, sons who will not lie to me. So he became their Savior. ⁹ In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them. In his love and in his pity he redeemed them. He bore them, and carried them all the days of old. ¹⁰ But they rebelled and grieved his Holy Spirit. Therefore he turned and became their enemy, and he himself fought against them. ¹¹ Then he remembered the days of old, Moses and his people, saying, “Where is he who brought them up out of the sea with the shepherds of his flock? Where is he who put his Holy Spirit among them?” ¹² Who caused his glorious arm to be at Moses' right hand? Who divided the waters before them, to make himself an everlasting name? ¹³ Who led them through the depths, like a horse in the wilderness, so that they didn’t stumble? ¹⁴ As the cattle that go down into the valley, the Spirit of the LORD caused them to rest. So you led your people to make yourself a glorious name.

¹³ "the LORD used a prophet to bring the people of Israel out of Egypt. He used a prophet to take care of them.

⁴ "I brought you out of the land of Egypt. I redeemed you out of the house of bondage. I sent before you Moses, Aaron, and Miriam.
