⁷ and made two cherubims of thick gold upon the two ends of the mercy seat: ⁸ Placing one at one end and one at the other; the winged ones were part of the cover. ⁹ The cherubim had their wings spread upward. They covered the mercy seat with their wings. The faces of the cherubim were toward the mercy seat and toward each other.

¹⁰ In the most holy place he made two sculptured cherubim (angels) and covered them with gold. ¹¹ The wings of the cherubim were twenty cubits long: the wing of the one was five cubits, reaching to the wall of the house; and the other wing was five cubits, reaching to the wing of the other cherub. ¹² In like manner the wing of the other cherub, was five cubits long, and reached to the wall: and his other wing was five cubits long, and touched the wing of the other cherub. ¹³ The wings of these cherubim extended for 30 feet as they stood on their feet and faced the front of the temple.

² And He spoke to the man clothed with linen, and said, Go in among the wheels, under the cherub, and fill your hands with coals of fire from between the cherubs, and scatter them on the city. And the court was full of the radiance of the glory of the LORD. ⁵ The sound of the wings of the cherubim was heard even to the outer court, as the voice of God Almighty when he speaks. ⁶ And then at his command to the man clothed in linen, saying, "Take fire from among the wheel area from among the cherubim," he went and stood beside the wheel. ⁷ The cherub stretched out his hand from between the cherubim to the fire that was between the cherubim, and took some of it, and put it into the hands of him who was clothed in linen, who took it and went out. ⁸ And under the wings of the Cherubims, there appeared the likeness of a man's hand. ⁹ And when I looked, behold, four wheels by the cherubim, one wheel by each cherubim; and the colour of the wheels was as a stone of Tarsis or beryl. ¹⁰ As for their appearance, the four of them had one likeness, like a wheel within a wheel. ¹¹ When they moved, they went in any of their four directions without turning as they went. They followed in the direction that they faced, without turning as they went. ¹² And their whole body, and their necks, and their hands, and their wings, and the circles were full of eyes, round about the four wheels. ¹³ As for the wheels, they were called in my hearing, O wheel. ¹⁴ Each one had four faces. The first face was the face of a cherub angel, the second face was the face of a man, the third the face of a lion, and the fourth the face of an eagle. ¹⁵ And the cherubim rose; that is, the living creatures that I saw at the Kebar River. ¹⁶ When the angels moved, the wheels moved beside them. When the angels lifted their wings to rise from the ground, the wheels did not leave their side. ¹⁷ When they stood still, these stood still, and when they rose up, these lifted up. For the spirit of the living creature was in them. ¹⁸ Then the glory of the LORD departed from off the threshold of the house, and stood over the cherubim. ¹⁹ The angels lifted their wings and rose from the ground. I was watching them as they left with the wheels beside them. The angels stood at the door to the east gate of the LORD's Temple, and the glory of the God of Israel was above them. ²⁰ This was the living creature that I saw under the God of Israel at the Kebar River, and I knew that they were cherubim. ²¹ Each had four faces and four wings, and under their wings were what looked like human hands. ²² Their faces looked exactly like the faces that I saw by the Chebar River. Each one went straight ahead.

¹⁴ Are not the angels ministering spirits, sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?

¹² It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves but you, when they foretold the things now announced by those who preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven. Even angels long to look into these things.
