¹⁵ And when all of you spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you: yea, when all of you make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of blood.

¹⁶ Therefore shall the Lord, the Lord of hosts, send among his fat ones leanness; and under his glory he shall kindle a burning like the burning of a fire.

¹² And in that day did the Lord GOD of hosts call to weeping, and to mourning, and to baldness, and to girding with sackcloth:

¹⁶ From the uttermost part of the earth have we heard songs, even glory to the righteous. But I said, My leanness, my leanness, woe unto me! the treacherous dealers have dealt treacherously; yea, the treacherous dealers have dealt very treacherously.

²¹ For, behold, the LORD comes out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity: the earth also shall disclose her blood, and shall no more cover her slain.

³ Strengthen all of you the weak hands, and confirm the feeble knees. ⁴ Say to them that are of a fearful heart, Be strong, fear not: behold, your God will come with vengeance, even God with a recompence; he will come and save you.

⁹ Woe unto him that strives with his Maker! Let the potsherd strive with the potsherds of the earth. Shall the clay say to him that fashions it, What make you? or your work, He has no hands?

⁴ The Lord GOD has given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: he wakens morning by morning, he wakens mine ear to hear as the learned.

⁶ I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair: I hid not my face from shame and spitting.

¹⁴ As many were astonished at you; his visage was so ruined more than any man, and his form more than the sons of men:

⁹ Then shall you call, and the LORD shall answer; you shall cry, and he shall say, Here I am. If you take away from the midst of you the yoke, the putting out of the finger, and speaking vanity; ¹⁰ And if you draw out your soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul; then shall your light rise in obscurity, and your darkness be as the noon day:

⁶ Their webs shall not become garments, neither shall they cover themselves with their works: their works are works of iniquity, and the act of violence is in their hands.

¹⁶ To make their land desolate, and a perpetual hissing; every one that passes thereby shall be astonished, and shake his head.

²⁹ O earth, earth, earth, hear the word of the LORD.

¹⁶ For these things I weep; mine eye, mine eye runs down with water, because the comforter that should relieve my soul is far from me: my children are desolate, because the enemy prevailed.

¹¹ Mine eyes do fail with tears, my bowels are troubled, my liver is poured upon the earth, for the destruction of the daughter of my people; because the children and the infants swoon in the streets of the city.

¹⁵ All that pass by clap their hands at you; they hiss and shake their head at the daughter of Jerusalem, saying, Is this the city that men call The perfection of beauty, The joy of the whole earth? ¹⁶ all of your enemies have opened their mouth against you: they hiss and gnash the teeth: they say, We have swallowed her up: certainly this is the day that we looked for; we have found, we have seen it.

³ Surely against me is he turned; he turns his hand against me all the day. ⁴ My flesh and my skin has he made old; he has broken my bones.

¹⁰ He was unto me as a bear lying in wait, and as a lion in secret places. ¹¹ He has turned aside my ways, and pulled me in pieces: he has made me desolate. ¹² He has bent his bow, and set me as a mark for the arrow. ¹³ He has caused the arrows of his quiver to enter into my reins.

³⁰ He gives his cheek to him that strikes him: he is filled full with reproach.

¹¹ Wherefore, as I live, says the Lord GOD; Surely, because you have defiled my sanctuary with all your detestable things, and with all of your abominations, therefore will I also diminish you; neither shall mine eye spare, neither will I have any pity.

⁷ For her blood is in the midst of her; she set it upon the top of a rock; she poured it not upon the ground, to cover it with dust;

⁷ When they took hold of you by your hand, you did break, and rend all their shoulder: and when they leaned upon you, you brake, and made all their loins to be at a stand.

¹⁴ For I will be unto Ephraim as a lion, and as a young lion to the house of Judah: I, even I, will tear and go away; I will take away, and none shall rescue him.

¹ Come, and let us return unto the LORD: for he has torn, and he will heal us; he has smitten, and he will bind us up.

⁴ Yea, he had power over the angel, and prevailed: he wept, and made supplication unto him: he found him in Bethel, and there he spoke with us; ⁵ Even the LORD God of hosts; the LORD is his memorial.

⁷ They shall run like mighty men; they shall climb the wall like men of war; and they shall march every one on his ways, and they shall not break their ranks:

¹ Then Jonah prayed unto the LORD his God out of the fish's belly, ² And said, I cried by reason of mine affliction unto the LORD, and he heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I, and you heard my voice. ³ For you had cast me into the deep, in the midst of the seas; and the floods compassed me about: all your billows and your waves passed over me. ⁴ Then I said, I am cast out of your sight; yet I will look again toward your holy temple. ⁵ The waters compassed me about, even to the soul: the depth closed me round about, the weeds were wrapped about my head. ⁶ I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; the earth with her bars was about me for ever: yet have you brought up my life from corruption, O LORD my God. ⁷ When my soul fainted within me I remembered the LORD: and my prayer came in unto you, into your holy temple. ⁸ They that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy. ⁹ But I will sacrifice unto you with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay that that I have vowed. Salvation is of the LORD. ¹⁰ And the LORD spoke unto the fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the dry land.

⁸ But let man and beast be covered with sackcloth, and cry mightily unto God: yea, let them turn every one from his evil way, and from the violence that is in their hands.

¹ Now gather yourself in troops, O daughter of troops: he has laid siege against us: they shall strike the judge of Israel with a rod upon the cheek.

¹³ Therefore also will I make you sick in smiting you, in making you desolate because of your sins.

⁸ Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the LORD shall be a light unto me.

¹⁵ This is the rejoicing city that dwelt carelessly, that said in her heart, I am, and there is none beside me: how is she become a desolation, a place for beasts to lie down in! every one that passes by her shall hiss, and wag his hand.

¹² Therefore all things whatsoever all of you would that men should do to you, do all of you even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.

⁴⁴ And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.

⁴⁶ And no man was able to answer him a word, (o. logos) neither durst any man from that day forth ask him any more questions.

⁶⁷ Then did they spit in his face, and buffeted him; and others stroke him with the palms of their hands,

³⁹ And they that passed by reviled him, wagging their heads, ⁴⁰ And saying, You that destroys the temple, and build it in three days, save yourself. If you be the Son of God, come down from the cross.

³⁴ And says unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful unto death: tarry all of you here, and watch.

¹¹ And they were filled with madness; and communed one with another what they might do to Jesus. ¹² And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God.

³⁵ And the people stood beholding. And the rulers also with them derided him, saying, He saved others; let him save himself, if he be Christ, the chosen of God. ³⁶ And the soldiers also mocked him, coming to him, and offering him vinegar,

²² And when he had thus spoken, one of the officers which stood by struck Jesus with the palm of his hand, saying, Answer you the high priest so?

¹⁶ Then delivered he him therefore unto them to be crucified. And they took Jesus, and led him away.

²⁷ For truthfully against your holy child Jesus, whom you have anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together,

⁵⁴ When they heard these things, they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed on him with their teeth.

² And the high priest Ananias commanded them that stood by him to strike him on the mouth.

⁹ For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit (o. pneuma) in the gospel of his Son, that without ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers;

³² He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?

¹ I say the truth in Christ, I lie not, my conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Spirit, (o. pneuma)

²⁰ On the contrary;, O man, who are you that reply against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why have you made me thus?

³² For God has concluded them all in unbelief, that he might have mercy upon all.

¹⁵ Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep.

⁴ Who have for my life laid down their own necks: unto whom not only I give thanks, but also all the churches of the Gentiles.

²⁶ And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it.

²³ Moreover I call God for a record upon my soul, that to spare you I came not as yet unto Corinth.

²⁰ For all of you suffer, if a man bring you into bondage, if a man devour you, if a man take of you, if a man exalt himself, if a man strike you on the face.

³¹ The God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which is blessed for evermore, knows that I lie not.

⁷ And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure.

¹ Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, all of you which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit (o. pneuma) of meekness; considering yourself, lest you also be tempted.

²⁷ That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

¹⁶ The one preach Christ of contention, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my bonds:

⁵ For neither at any time used we flattering words, (o. logos) as all of you know, nor a coat of covetousness; God is witness:

¹⁰ All of you are witnesses, and God also, how holily and justly and unblameably we behaved ourselves among you that believe:

⁸ I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.

¹¹ Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy illegal gain's sake.

⁸ Sound speech, (o. logos) that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you.

⁷ Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared;

¹⁹ Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:

³ All of you ask, and receive not, because all of you ask amiss, that all of you may consume it upon your lusts. ⁴ All of you adulterers and adulteresses, know all of you not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.

⁵ And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;
