¹ Now I say, That the heir, as long as he is a child, differs nothing from a servant, though he be lord of all;

² And Abraham said unto his eldest servant of his house, that ruled over all that he had, Put, I pray you, your hand under my thigh: ³ And I will make you swear by the LORD, the God of heaven, and the God of the earth, that you shall not take a wife unto my son of the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I dwell:

¹ And Ahab had seventy sons in Samaria. And Jehu wrote letters, and sent to Samaria, unto the rulers of Jezreel, to the elders, and to them that brought up Ahab's children, saying, ² Now as soon as this letter comes to you, seeing your master's sons are with you, and there are with you chariots and horses, a fenced city also, and armour;

¹² And he brought forth the king's son, and put the crown upon him, and gave him the testimony; and they made him king, and anointed him; and they clapped their hands, and said, God save the king.

² And Jehoash did that which was right in the sight of the LORD all his days wherein Jehoiada the priest instructed him.

²³ But he who was of the bondwoman was born after the flesh; but he of the freewoman was by promise.

²⁹ But as then he that was born after the flesh persecuted him that was born after the Spirit, (o. pneuma) even so it is now.
