¹³ Is it a small thing that you have brought us up out of a land that flows with milk and honey, to kill us in the wilderness, except you make yourself altogether a prince over us?

¹¹ Therefore they set taskmasters over them to afflict them with their burdens. And they built for Pharaoh treasure cities, Pithom and Raamses.

²² And Pharaoh charged all his people, saying, "Every son that is born you shall cast into the river, and every daughter you shall save alive."

¹⁴ And he said, "Who made you a prince and a judge over us? Do you intend to kill me, as you killed the Egyptian?" And Moses feared, and said, "Surely this thing is known."

²³ And it came to pass in the process of time, that the king of Egypt died: And the children of Israel sighed because of the bondage, and they cried, and their cry came up to God because of the bondage.

³ And the children of Israel said to them, "We wish to God we had died by the hand of the LORD in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the flesh pots, and when we ate bread to the full; for you have brought us forth into this wilderness, to kill this whole assembly with hunger."

³ And the people thirsted there for water; and the people murmured against Moses, and said, "Is it for this reason that you have brought us up out of Egypt, to kill us and our children and our domestic beasts with thirst?"

⁵ We remember the fish, which we ate in Egypt freely; the cucumbers, and the melons, and the leeks, and the onions, and the garlic:

² And all the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron: And the whole congregation said to them, "Would God that we had died in the land of Egypt! Or would God we had died in this wilderness!

³ And the people strived with Moses, and spoke, saying, "Would God that we had died when our brothers died before the LORD! ⁴ And why have you brought up the congregation of the LORD into this wilderness, that we and our domestic beasts should die there?

² The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against His anointed, saying, ³ "Let us break their bands apart, and cast away their cords from us."

¹⁴ But his citizens hated him, and sent a message after him, saying, 'We will not have this man to reign over us.'

²⁵ For he supposed that his brethren would have understood that by his hand God would deliver them: But they did not understand. ²⁶ And the next day he showed himself to them as they fought, and would have reconciled them as one again, saying, 'Sirs, you are brethren; why do you wrong one another?' ²⁷ But he who did his neighbor wrong thust him away, saying, 'Who made you a ruler and a judge over us?

³⁵ "This Moses whom they refused, saying, 'Who made you a ruler and a judge?' is the same that God sent to be a ruler and a deliverer by the hand of the angel which appeared to him in the bush.
