²² Because all those men which have seen my glory, and my miracles, which I did in Egypt and in the wilderness, and have tempted me now these ten times, and have not listened to my voice;

⁷ And your father has deceived me, and changed my wages ten times; but God did not permit him to hurt me.

⁴¹ I have been like this twenty years in your house; I served you fourteen years for your two daughters, and six years for your domestic beasts: And you have changed my wages ten times.

¹¹ And they said to Moses, "Have you taken us away to die in the wilderness because there were no graves in Egypt? Why have you dealt in this peculiar way with us, to carry us forth out of Egypt?

² For this reason the people chided with Moses, and said, "Give us water that we may drink." And Moses said to them, "Why do you chide with me? For which reason do you tempt the LORD?"

¹ And when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down out of the mount, the people gathered themselves together to Aaron, and said to him, "Rise up, make us gods, which shall go before us; because, as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him."

¹¹ And the LORD said to Moses, "How long will this people provoke me? And how long will it be ere they believe me, for all the signs which I have showed among them?

³¹ and in the wilderness, where you have seen how that the LORD your God bore you, as a man does bear his son, in all the way that you went, until you came into this place. ³² Yet in this thing you did not believe the LORD your God, ³³ who went in the way before you, to search you out a place to pitch your tents in, in fire by night, to show you by what way you should go, and in a cloud by day. ³⁴ And the LORD heard the voice of your words, and was wroth, and swore, saying, ³⁵ surely there shall not one of these men of this evil generation see that good land, which I swore to give to your fathers.

³ These ten times have you reproached me: You are not ashamed that you make yourselves strange to me.

⁹ When your fathers tempted Me, proved Me, and saw My work. ¹⁰ For forty long years I was grieved with this generation, and said, 'It is a people that err in their heart, and they have not known My ways': ¹¹ To whom I swore in My wrath that they should not enter into My rest."

¹⁴ But lusted exceedingly in the wilderness, and tempted God in the desert.

²⁶ Therefore He lifted up His hand against them, to overthrow them in the wilderness:

¹⁵ And now we call the proud happy; yes, those that work wickedness are established; yes, those that tempt God are even delivered.' "

⁷ Jesus said to him, "It is written again, 'You shall not tempt the LORD your God.' "

⁵ But with many of them God was not well pleased: For they were overthrown in the wilderness.

⁹ Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed by serpents.

⁹ When your fathers tempted Me, proved Me, and saw My works forty years.

¹⁷ But with whom was He grieved forty years? Was it not with those that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness? ¹⁸ And to whom did He swear that they should not enter into His rest, but to those that did not believe?
