¹ Moreover He spoke a parable to them leading to this end, that men always ought to pray, and not to faint; ² saying, "There was a judge in a city, who did not fear God, nor regarded man: ³ And there was a widow in that city; and she came to him, saying, 'Avenge me from my adversary.' ⁴ And he would not for a while: But afterward he said within himself, 'Though I do not fear God, nor regard man; ⁵ yet because this widow troubles me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.' " ⁶ And the Lord said, "Hear what the unjust judge said. ⁷ And shall not God avenge His own elect, who cry day and night to Him, though He bears long with them? ⁸ I tell you that He will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, shall He find faith on the earth?" ⁹ Moreover He spoke this parable to certain ones who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others: ¹⁰ "Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican. ¹¹ The Pharisee stood and prayed in this manner with himself, 'God, I thank You that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. ¹² I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.' ¹³ And the publican, standing afar off, would not so much as lift up his eyes to heaven, but smote his breast, saying, 'God, be merciful to me a sinner.' ¹⁴ I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: For everyone who exalts himself shall be abased; and he that humbles himself shall be exalted." ¹⁵ Also they brought infants to Him, that He would touch them: But when His disciples saw it, they rebuked them. ¹⁶ But Jesus called them to Him, and said, "Permit little children to come to Me, and do not forbid them: For of such is the kingdom of God. ¹⁷ Truly I say to you, Whoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no case enter in there." ¹⁸ Then a certain ruler asked Him, saying, "Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?" ¹⁹ And Jesus said to him, "Why do you call Me good? There is none good, except One, that is, God. ²⁰ You know the commandments: 'Do not commit adultery', 'Do not kill', 'Do not steal', 'Do not bear false witness', 'Honor your father and your mother.' " ²¹ And he said, "All these things I have kept from my youth up." ²² Now when Jesus heard these things, He said to him, "You still lack one thing: Sell all that you have, and distribute to the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven: And come, follow Me." ²³ And when he heard this, he was very sorrowful: For he was very rich. ²⁴ And when Jesus saw that he was very sorrowful, He said, "How hardly shall those that have riches enter into the kingdom of God! ²⁵ For it is easier for a camel to go through a needle's eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God." ²⁶ And those who heard it said, "Who then can be saved?" ²⁷ And He said, "The things which are impossible with men are possible with God." ²⁸ Then Peter said, "Look, we have left all, and followed You." ²⁹ And He said to them, "Truly I say to you, There is no man that has left house, or parents, or brothers, or wife, or children, for the sake of the kingdom of God, ³⁰ who shall not receive many times more in this present time, and in the world to come life everlasting." ³¹ Then He took the twelve to Himself, and said to them, "Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of Man shall be accomplished. ³² For He shall be delivered to the Gentiles, and shall be mocked, and spitefully treated, and spit on: ³³ Then they shall scourge Him, and put Him to death: And the third day He shall rise again." ³⁴ Yet they understood none of these things: And this saying was hid from them, neither did they know the things which were spoken. ³⁵ Now it came to pass, that as He was coming near Jericho, a certain blind man sat by the roadside begging: ³⁶ And hearing the multitude passing by, he asked what it meant. ³⁷ And they told him, that Jesus of Nazareth was passing by. ³⁸ Then he cried out, saying, "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me." ³⁹ And those who went before rebuked him, that he should hold his peace: But he cried out all the more, "Son of David, have mercy on me." ⁴⁰ Now Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be brought to Him: And when he had come near, He asked him, ⁴¹ saying, "What is your will that I should do to you?" And he said, "Lord, that I may receive my sight." ⁴² Then Jesus said to him, "Receive your sight: Your faith has saved you." ⁴³ And immediately he received his sight, and followed Him, glorifying God: And all the people, when they saw it, gave praise to God.

⁹ And Jacob said, "O God of my father Abraham, and God of my father Isaac, the LORD which said to me, 'Return to your country, and to your kindred, and I will deal well with you': ¹⁰ I am not worthy of the least of all the mercies, and of all the truth, which you have showed to your servant; for with my staff I passed over this Jordan; and now I have become two bands. ¹¹ Deliver me, I implore you, from the hand of my brother, from the hand of Esau: For I fear him, lest he will come and smite me, and the mother with the children. ¹² And You said, 'I will surely do you good, and make your seed as the sand of the sea, which cannot be numbered for multitude.' "

²⁴ And Jacob was left alone; and there a man wrestled with him until the breaking of the day. ²⁵ And when he saw that he did not prevail against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob's thigh was out of joint, as he wrestled with him. ²⁶ And he said, "Let me go, for the day breaks." And he said, "I will not let you go, unless you bless me."

⁸ For what is the hope of the hypocrite, though he has gained, when God takes away his soul? ⁹ Will God hear his cry when trouble comes on him? ¹⁰ Will he delight himself in the Almighty? Will he always call on God?

¹³ I would have fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.

¹⁶ As for me, I will call upon God; and the LORD shall save me. ¹⁷ Evening, and morning, and at noon, I will pray, and cry aloud: And He shall hear my voice.

² O You that hear prayer, to You shall all flesh come.

³ Be merciful to me, O LORD: For I cry to You daily.

¹⁷ He will regard the prayer of the destitute, and not despise their prayer.

⁵ I cried out to You, O LORD: I said, "You are my refuge and my portion in the land of the living. ⁶ Attend to my cry; for I am brought very low: Deliver me from my persecutors; for they are stronger than I. ⁷ Bring my soul out of prison, that I may praise Your name: The righteous shall compass me around; for You shall deal bountifully with me."

¹² Then you shall call upon Me, and you shall go and pray to Me, and I will hearken to you.

⁷ When my soul fainted within me I remembered the LORD: And my prayer came in to You, into Your holy temple.

⁵ And He said to them, "Which of you having a friend, will go to him at midnight, and say to him, 'Friend, lend me three loaves; ⁶ For a friend of mine on his journey has come to me, and I have nothing to set before him'? ⁷ And from within he shall answer and say, 'Do not trouble me: The door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot rise and give to you.' ⁸ I say to you, Though he will not rise and give to him because he is his friend, yet because of his pressing requests he will rise and give him as much as he needs. ⁹ So I say to you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it shall be opened to you.

³⁶ Watch therefore, and pray always, that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man."

¹² rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing urgently in prayer;

¹ Therefore, seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we do not faint;

⁹ And let us not be weary in well doing: For in due season we shall reap, if we do not faint.

¹⁸ Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching to the end with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

⁶ Do not be full of care for anything; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.

² Continue in prayer, and watch for the same with thanksgiving;

¹² Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ, salutes you, always laboring fervently for you in prayers, that you may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God.

¹⁷ Pray without ceasing.

³ For consider Him that endured such contradiction from sinners against Himself, lest you be wearied and faint in your minds. ⁴ You have not yet resisted to the point of blood, striving against sin. ⁵ And you have forgotten the exhortation which speaks to you as to children, "My son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when you are rebuked by Him:

²¹ Moreover you shall provide out of all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them, to be rulers of thousands, and rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens: ²² And let them judge the people at all times: And it shall be, that every great matter they shall bring to you, but every small matter they shall judge: So it shall be easier for yourself, and they shall bear the burden with you.

³ Nevertheless there are good things found in you, in that you have taken away the groves out of the land, and have prepared your heart to seek God. ⁴ And Jehoshaphat dwelled at Jerusalem: And he went out again through the people from Beersheba to Mount Ephraim, and brought them back to the LORD God of their fathers. ⁵ And he set judges in the land throughout all the fenced cities of Judah, city by city, ⁶ and said to the judges, Take heed what you do: For you judge not for man, but for the LORD, who is with you in the judgment. ⁷ Why now let the fear of the LORD be upon you; take heed and do it: For there is no iniquity with the LORD our God, nor reverence of persons, nor taking of gifts. ⁸ Moreover in Jerusalem did Jehoshaphat set of the Levites, and of the priests, and of the chief of the fathers of Israel, for the judgment of the LORD, and for controversies, when they returned to Jerusalem. ⁹ And he charged them, saying, "Thus shall you do in the fear of the LORD, faithfully, and with a perfect heart.

⁷ when I went out to the gate through the city, when I prepared my seat in the street! ⁸ The young men saw me, and hid themselves: And the aged arose, and stood up. ⁹ The princes refrained talking, and laid their hand on their mouth. ¹⁰ The nobles held their peace, and their tongue stuck to the roof of their mouth. ¹¹ When the ear heard me, then it blessed me; and when the eye saw me, it gave witness to me: ¹² Because I delivered the poor that cried, and the fatherless, and him that had none to help him. ¹³ The blessing of him that was ready to perish came on me: And I caused the widow's heart to sing for joy. ¹⁴ I put on righteousness, and it clothed me: My judgment was as a robe and a diadem. ¹⁵ I was eyes to the blind, and feet was I to the lame. ¹⁶ I was a father to the poor: And the cause which I did not know I searched out. ¹⁷ And I broke the jaws of the wicked, and plucked the spoil out of his teeth.

¹ To the chief Musician upon Gittith, A Psalm of David. O LORD our Lord, how excellent is Your name in all the earth! You have set Your glory above the heavens. ² Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings You have ordained strength because of Your enemies, that You might make the enemy and the avenger be still. ³ When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have ordained; ⁴ what is man, that You are mindful of him? And the son of man, that You visit him?

⁷ The righteous considers the cause of the poor: But the wicked does not care to know it.

⁸ The highways lie waste, the wayfaring man ceases: He has broken the covenant, he has despised the cities, he regards no man.

¹⁶ He judged the cause of the poor and needy; then it was well with him: Was not this known to me?" said the LORD. ¹⁷ But your eyes and your heart are not but for your covetousness, and to shed innocent blood, and for oppression, and for violence, to do it.

⁶ Behold, the princes of Israel, everyone in you has used their power to shed blood. ⁷ In you they have set light by father and mother: In the midst of you they have dealt with the stranger by oppression: In you they have vexed the fatherless and the widow. ⁸ You have despised My holy things, and have profaned My Sabbaths.

¹ And I said, "Hear, I implore you, O heads of Jacob, and all you princes of the house of Israel; Is it not for you to know judgment? ² Who hate the good, and love the evil; who pluck off their skin from off them, and their flesh from off their bones; ³ who also eat the flesh of My people, and flay their skin from off them; and they break their bones, and chop them in pieces, as for the pot, and as flesh within the caldron."

⁴ And he would not for a while: But afterward he said within himself, 'Though I do not fear God, nor regard man;

¹⁴ "Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness": ¹⁵ "Their feet are swift to shed blood: ¹⁶ Destruction and misery are in their ways: ¹⁷ And they have not known the way of peace": ¹⁸ "There is no fear of God before their eyes."

¹⁹ Cursed be he that perverts the judgment of the stranger, fatherless, and widow. And all the people shall say, "Amen.

⁵ And the king said to her, "What ails you? And she answered, I am indeed a widow woman, and my husband is dead. ⁶ And your handmaid had two sons, and they two strove together in the field, and there was none to part them, but the one smote the other, and slew him. ⁷ And behold, the whole family is risen against your handmaid, and they said, "Deliver him that smote his brother, that we may kill him, for the life of his brother whom he slew; and we will destroy the heir also: And so they shall quench my coal which is left, and shall not leave to my husband neither name nor remainder on the earth. ⁸ And the king said to the woman, Go to your house, and I will give charge concerning you. ⁹ And the woman of Tekoah said to the king, My lord, O king, the iniquity be on me, and on my father's house: And the king and his throne be guiltless. ¹⁰ And the king said, "Whoever said ought to you, bring him to me, and he shall not touch you any more. ¹¹ Then said she, I implore you, let the king remember the LORD your God, that you would not suffer the revengers of blood to destroy any more, lest they destroy my son. And he said, "As the LORD lives, there shall not one hair of your son fall to the earth. ¹² Then the woman said, "Let your handmaid, I implore you, speak one word to my lord the king. And he said, "Say on. ¹³ And the woman said, "Why then have you thought such a thing against the people of God? For the king does speak this thing as one which is faulty, in that the king does not fetch home again his banished. ¹⁴ For we must needs die, and are as water spilt on the ground, which cannot be gathered up again; neither does God respect any person: Yet does he devise means, that his banished be not expelled from him. ¹⁵ Now therefore that I am come to speak of this thing to my lord the king, it is because the people have made me afraid: And your handmaid said, "I will now speak to the king; it may be that the king will perform the request of his handmaid. ¹⁶ For the king will hear, to deliver his handmaid out of the hand of the man that would destroy me and my son together out of the inheritance of God. ¹⁷ Then your handmaid said, "The word of my lord the king shall now be comfortable: For as an angel of God, so is my lord the king to discern good and bad: Therefore the LORD your God will be with you. ¹⁸ Then the king answered and said to the woman, Hide not from me, I implore you, the thing that I shall ask you. And the woman said, "Let my lord the king now speak. ¹⁹ And the king said, "Is not the hand of Joab with you in all this? And the woman answered and said, "As your soul lives, my lord the king, none can turn to the right hand or to the left from ought that my lord the king has spoken: For your servant Joab, he bade me, and he put all these words in the mouth of your handmaid: ²⁰ To fetch about this form of speech has your servant Joab done this thing: And my lord is wise, according to the wisdom of an angel of God, to know all things that are in the earth. ²¹ And the king said to Joab, "Behold now, I have done this thing: Go therefore, bring the young man Absalom again. ²² And Joab fell to the ground on his face, and bowed himself, and thanked the king: And Joab said, "Today your servant knows that I have found grace in your sight, my lord, O king, in that the king has fulfilled the request of his servant. ²³ So Joab arose and went to Geshur, and brought Absalom to Jerusalem. ²⁴ And the king said, "Let him turn to his own house, and let him not see my face. So Absalom returned to his own house, and saw not the king's face.

⁹ You have sent widows away empty, and the arms of the fatherless have been broken.

¹³ The blessing of him that was ready to perish came on me: And I caused the widow's heart to sing for joy.

¹⁷ learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow.

²¹ How has the faithful city become a harlot! It was full of judgment; righteousness lodged in it; but now murderers. ²² Your silver has become dross, your wine mixed with water: ²³ Your princes are rebellious, and companions of thieves: Everyone loves gifts, and follows after rewards: They do not judge the fatherless, neither does the cause of the widow come to them.

²⁸ They are waxen fat, they shine: Yes, they overpass the deeds of the wicked: They do not judge the cause, the cause of the fatherless, yet they prosper; and the right of the needy they do not judge.

⁷ And shall not God avenge His own elect, who cry day and night to Him, though He bears long with them? ⁸ I tell you that He will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, shall He find faith on the earth?"

³ For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Do you then desire not to be afraid of the power? Do that which is good, and you shall have praise from the same: ⁴ For he is God's minister to you for good. But if you do that which is evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain: For he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that does evil.

¹⁷ And he thought within himself, saying, 'What shall I do, because I have no room where to stow my fruits?'

³ Then the steward said within himself, 'What shall I do? For my lord is taking away from me the stewardship: I cannot dig; I am ashamed to beg.

¹² For the Word of God is lively, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing apart of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. ¹³ Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in His sight: But all things are naked and uncovered to the eyes of Him with Whom we have to give account.

¹⁶ And it came to pass, when she pressed him daily with her words, and urged him, so that his soul was vexed to death;

²⁴ And Absalom came to the king, and said, "Behold now, your servant has sheep shearers; let the king, I beseech you, and his servants go with your servant. ²⁵ And the king said to Absalom, "No, my son, let us not all now go, lest we be chargeable to you. And he pressed him: However, he would not go, but blessed him. ²⁶ Then said Absalom, If not, I implore you, let my brother Amnon go with us. And the king said to him, "Why should he go with you? ²⁷ But Absalom pressed him, that he let Amnon and all the king's sons go with him.

²³ But He did not answer her a word. And His disciples came and implored Him, saying, "Send her away; for she cries out after us."

⁴⁷ And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me." ⁴⁸ And many charged him that he should hold his peace: But he cried out a great deal more, "Son of David, have mercy on me."

⁸ I say to you, Though he will not rise and give to him because he is his friend, yet because of his pressing requests he will rise and give him as much as he needs.

³⁹ And those who went before rebuked him, that he should hold his peace: But he cried out all the more, "Son of David, have mercy on me."

¹³ And when the Lord saw her, He had compassion on her, and said to her, "Do not weep."

¹² The LORD judge between me and you, and the LORD avenge me of you: But my hand shall not be upon you. ¹³ As the proverb of the ancients says, 'Wickedness proceeds from the wicked': But my hand shall not be upon you. ¹⁴ After whom has the king of Israel come out? After whom do you pursue? After a dead dog, after a flea. ¹⁵ The LORD therefore be judge, and judge between me and you, and see, and plead my cause, and deliver me out of your hand."

¹⁰ David furthermore said, "As the LORD lives, the LORD shall smite him; or his day shall come to die; or he shall descend into battle, and perish. ¹¹ The LORD forbid that I should stretch forth my hand against the LORD's anointed: But, I implore you, now take the spear that is at his head, and the cup of water, and let us go."

⁸ And He shall judge the world in righteousness, He shall minister judgment to the people in uprightness.

¹⁵ Break the arm of the wicked and the evil man: Seek out his wickedness until You find none. ¹⁶ The LORD is King forever and ever: The heathen have perished out of His land. ¹⁷ LORD, You have heard the desire of the humble: You will prepare their heart, You will cause Your ear to hear: ¹⁸ To judge the fatherless and the oppressed, that the man of the earth may oppress no more.

¹ How long will You forget me, O LORD? Forever? How long will You hide Your face from me? ² How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart daily? How long shall my enemy be exalted over me?

¹ To the chief Musician on Neginoth, Maschil, A Psalm of David, when the Ziphims came and said to Saul, "Does not David hide himself with us? Save me, O God, by Your name, and judge me by Your strength. ² Hear my prayer, O God; give ear to the words of my mouth. ³ For strangers are risen up against me, and oppressors seek after my soul: They have not set God before them. Selah. ⁴ Behold, God is my helper: The Lord is with those that uphold my soul. ⁵ He shall reward evil to my enemies: Cut them off in Your truth. ⁶ I will freely sacrifice to You: I will praise Your name, O LORD; for it is good. ⁷ For He has delivered me out of all trouble: And my eye has seen His desire upon my enemies.

¹¹ But the LORD is with me as a mighty terrible one: Therefore my persecutors shall stumble, and they shall not prevail: They shall be greatly ashamed; for they shall not prosper: Their everlasting confusion shall never be forgotten. ¹² But, O LORD of hosts, who tests the righteous, and sees the mind and the heart, let me see Your vengeance upon them: For I have opened my cause to You. ¹³ Sing to the LORD, praise the LORD all of you: For He has delivered the soul of the poor from the hand of evildoers.

³ For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: Though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.

¹¹ If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him?

³⁷ and she was a widow of about eighty-four years, who did not depart from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day.

¹³ If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children: How much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him?"

³³ Who shall blame God's elect? It is God that justifies.

¹² Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;

¹⁰ night and day praying exceedingly that we might see your face, and might perfect that which is lacking in your faith?

⁶ Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to those that trouble you;

⁵ Now she who is indeed a widow, and desolate, trusts in God, and continues in supplications and prayers night and day.

³ I thank God, whom I serve from my forefathers with pure conscience, that without ceasing I have remembrance of you in my prayers night and day;

¹ Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God's elect, and the acknowledging of the truth which is by godliness;

³⁵ Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great recompense of reward. ³⁶ For you have need of patience, so that after you have done the will of God, you might receive the promise. ³⁷ For "Yet a little while, and He that shall come will come, and will not tarry.

⁹ The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

¹⁰ And they cried out with a loud voice, saying, "How long, O Lord, holy and true, will You not judge and avenge our blood on those that dwell on the earth?"

¹⁵ Therefore they are before the throne of God, and serve Him day and night in His temple: And He that sits on the throne shall dwell among them.

²⁰ Rejoice over her, you heaven, and you holy apostles and prophets; for God has avenged you on her."

⁵ God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and right early at that.

⁷ Hear me speedily, O LORD; my spirit fails: Do not hide Your face from me, lest I be like those that go down into the pit. ⁸ Cause me to hear Your lovingkindness in the morning; for I do trust in You: Cause me to know the way in which I should walk; for I lift up my soul to You. ⁹ Deliver me, O LORD, from my enemies: I flee to You to hide me.

⁹ Then they shall deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: And you shall be hated by all nations for My name's sake. ¹⁰ And then many shall be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. ¹¹ Then many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. ¹² And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. ¹³ But he who endures to the end, the same shall be saved.

²⁴ For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders; so that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

²⁶ And as it was in the days of Noah, so also shall it be in the days of the Son of Man. ²⁷ They ate, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all. ²⁸ Likewise also, as it was in the days of Lot; they ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built; ²⁹ but the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. ³⁰ Even like this shall it be in the day when the Son of Man is revealed.

¹ But pertaining to the times and the seasons, brethren, you have no need that I write to you. ² For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord comes as a thief in the night. ³ For when they shall say, "Peace and safety"; then sudden destruction comes upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

²³ Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for He is faithful that promised;) ²⁴ and let us consider one another to provoke us to love and to good works: ²⁵ Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some; but exhorting one another: And so much the more, as you see the day approaching. ²⁶ For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remains no more sacrifice for sins,

¹ Go now, you rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you. ² Your riches are corrupted, and your clothes are moth-eaten. ³ Your gold and silver are cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as if it were fire. You have heaped treasure together for the last days. ⁴ Behold, the wages of the laborers who have harvested your fields, which you partially kept back by fraud, cries out: And the cries of those which have reaped have entered into the ears of the Lord of Sabaoth. ⁵ You have lived in pleasure on the earth, and been wanton; you have nourished your hearts, as in a day of slaughter. ⁶ You have condemned and killed the just; and he does not resist you. ⁷ Therefore be patient, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. Behold, the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, and has long patience for it, until he receives the early and latter rain. ⁸ You also be patient; establish your hearts: For the coming of the Lord draws near.

³ And through covetousness they shall make merchandise of you with feigned words: Whose judgment will now not linger for a long time, and their damnation does not slumber.

⁸ But, beloved, do not be ignorant of this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. ⁹ The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

¹² There is a generation that are pure in their own eyes, and yet are not washed from their filthiness.

⁵ who say, 'Stand by yourself, do not come near to me; for I am holier than you.' These are a smoke in my nose, a fire that burns all day long.

⁵ Hear the word of the LORD, you who tremble at His word; Your brothers who hated you, that cast you out for My name's sake, said, 'Let the LORD be glorified': But He shall appear to your joy, and they shall be ashamed.

³⁹ Now when the Pharisee who had invited Him saw this, he spoke within himself, saying, "This Man, if He were a prophet, would have known who and what manner of woman this is that touches Him: For she is a sinner."

²⁹ But he, desiring to justify himself, said to Jesus, "And who is my neighbor?"

² And the Pharisees and scribes murmured, saying, "This Man receives sinners, and eats with them."

²⁹ And he answering said to his father, 'Look, these many years I serve you, neither have I transgressed your commandment at any time: And yet you never gave me a kid goat, that I might make merry with my friends: ³⁰ But as soon as this son of yours came, who has devoured your estate with harlots, you killed the fatted calf for him.'

¹⁵ And He said to them, "You are those who justify yourselves before men; but God knows your hearts: For that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God.

¹¹ The Pharisee stood and prayed in this manner with himself, 'God, I thank You that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.

⁷ Yet when they saw it, they all murmured, saying, "He has gone to be a guest with a man who is a sinner."

⁴⁷ Then the Pharisees answered them, "Are you also deceived? ⁴⁸ Have any of the rulers or the Pharisees believed on Him? ⁴⁹ But this people who does not know the law are cursed."

⁴⁸ Then the Jews answered, and said to Him, "Do we not say full well that You are a Samaritan, and have a devil?"

²⁸ Then they reviled him, and said, "You are His disciple; but we are Moses' disciples.

³⁴ They answered and said to him, "You were all together born in sins, and do you teach us?" And they cast him out.

²¹ Then He said to me, 'Depart: For I will send you far from this place to the Gentiles.' "

⁹ For I was alive without the law once: But when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died.

³¹ But Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness, has not attained to the law of righteousness. ³² Why? Because they did not seek it by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumbling-stone;

³ For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves to the righteousness of God.

¹⁰ But why do you judge your brother? Or why do you disregard your brother as nothing? For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.

⁴ Though I might also have confidence in the flesh. If any other man thinks that he has something for which he might trust in the flesh, I more so: ⁵ Circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of the Hebrews; concerning the law, a Pharisee; ⁶ concerning zeal, persecuting the church; touching upon the righteousness which is in the law, blameless.

³⁰ And listen you to the supplication of your servant, and of your people Israel, when they shall pray toward this place: And hear you in heaven your dwelling place: And when you hear, forgive.

⁵ turn again, and tell Hezekiah the captain of my people, Thus says the LORD, the God of David your father, I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears: Behold, I will heal you: On the third day you shall go up to the house of the LORD.

⁸ And Hezekiah said to Isaiah, "What shall be the sign that the LORD will heal me, and that I shall go up into the house of the LORD the third day?

³¹ Which of those two did the will of his father?" They said to Him, "The first." Jesus said to them, "Truly I say to you, That the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you. ³² For John came to you in the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him: But the publicans and the harlots believed him: And you, when you had seen it, did not repent afterward, that you might believe him.

⁹ according to the custom of the priest's office, his lot was to burn incense when he went into the temple of the Lord. ¹⁰ And the whole multitude of the people were praying outside at the time of incense.

²⁹ And all the people who heard Him, and the publicans, justified God, being baptized with the baptism of John. ³⁰ But the Pharisees and lawyers rejected the counsel of God against themselves, not being baptized by him.

⁴⁶ saying to them, "It is written, 'My house is the house of prayer': But you have made it a 'den of thieves.' "

¹ Now Peter and John went up together into the temple at the hour of prayer, being the ninth hour.

⁶ But when Paul perceived that one part were Sadducees, and the other Pharisees, he cried out in the council, "Men and brethren, I am a Pharisee, the son of a Pharisee: Concerning the hope and resurrection of the dead I am called into question." ⁷ And when he had said this, a dissension arose between the Pharisees and the Sadducees: And the multitude was divided. ⁸ For the Sadducees say that there is no resurrection, neither angel, nor spirit: But the Pharisees confess both.

⁵ they knew me from the beginning, if they were willing to testify, that following after the most strict sect of our religion I lived a Pharisee.

⁵ Circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of the Hebrews; concerning the law, a Pharisee;

¹ A Song of degrees. Behold, bless the LORD, all you servants of the LORD, that stand by night in the house of the LORD.

² You that stand in the house of the LORD, in the courts of the house of our God,

¹⁵ And when you spread forth your hands, I will hide my eyes from you: Yes, when you make many prayers, I will not hear: Your hands are full of blood.

² Yet they seek Me daily, and delight to know My ways, as a nation that did righteousness, and did not forsake the ordinance of their God: They ask of Me the ordinances of justice; they take delight in approaching God.

²⁸ But where are your gods that you have made yourselves? Let them arise, if they can save you in the time of your trouble: For according to the number of your cities are your gods, O Judah.

³⁵ Yet you say, 'Because I am innocent, surely his anger shall turn from me.' Behold, I will plead with you, because you say, 'I have not sinned.'

³¹ And they come to you according to the coming of the people, and they sit before you as My people, and they hear your words, but they will not do them: For with their mouth they show much love, but their heart goes after their covetousness.

¹¹ The heads of it judge for reward, and its priests teach for hire, and its prophets divine for money: Yet they will lean upon the LORD, and say, "Is not the LORD among us? No evil can come upon us."

⁷ But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to his baptism, he said to them, "O generation of vipers, who has warned you to flee from the wrath to come? ⁸ Therefore bring forth fruits suitable for repentance: ⁹ And do not think to say within yourselves, 'We have Abraham as our father': For I say to you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham from these stones. ¹⁰ And even now the axe is laid to the root of the trees: Therefore every tree which does not bring forth good fruit is hewed down, and cast into the fire.

⁵ And when you pray, you shall not be as the hypocrites are: For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Truly I say to you, They have their reward.

¹⁸ He said to Him, "Which ones?" Jesus said, " 'You shall not murder', 'You shall not commit adultery', 'You shall not steal', 'You shall not bear false witness', ¹⁹ 'Honor your father and your mother': And, 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' " ²⁰ The young man said to Him, "I have kept all these things from my youth on up: What do I still lack?"

²⁵ And when you all stand praying, if you all have anything against anyone, forgive: That your Father which is in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses.

⁴⁷ which devour widows' houses, and for a show make long prayers: The same shall receive greater damnation."

⁷ For who makes you to differ from another? And what do you have that you did not receive? Now if you received it, why do you boast, as if you had not received it? ⁸ Now you are full, now you are rich, you have reigned as kings without us: And I pray to God you did reign, that we also might reign with you.

⁹ For I am the least of the apostles, that am not fit to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. ¹⁰ But by the grace of God I am what I am: And His grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all: Yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.

¹⁰ For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: For it is written, "Cursed is everyone that does not continue in all things which are written in the book of the law, to do them."

⁶ concerning zeal, persecuting the church; touching upon the righteousness which is in the law, blameless.

¹² And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has enabled me, for He counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry; ¹³ who was formerly a blasphemer, a persecutor, and an injurious man: But I obtained mercy, because I did those things ignorantly in unbelief. ¹⁴ And the grace of our Lord was exceedingly abundant with faith and love which are in Christ Jesus. ¹⁵ This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief. ¹⁶ Nevertheless, for this reason I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might show forth all longsuffering, as a pattern to those who should hereafter believe upon Him to life everlasting.

⁹ But if you have reverence to people, you commit sin, and are convinced by the law as being transgressors. ¹⁰ For whoever keeps the whole law, and yet offends in one point, he is guilty of all. ¹¹ For He that said, "Do not commit adultery", also said, "Do not kill." Now if you do not commit adultery, yet if you kill, you have become a transgressor of the law. ¹² So speak, and so do, as those that shall be judged by the law of liberty.

¹⁷ Because you say, 'I am rich, and am increased with goods, and have need of nothing'; but do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked:

³⁰ And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land, or of the fruit of the tree, is the LORD's: It is holy to the LORD. ³¹ And if a man will at all redeem ought of his tithes, he shall add thereto the fifth part of it. ³² And concerning the tithe of the herd, or of the flock, even of whatever passes under the rod, the tenth shall be holy to the LORD. ³³ He shall not search whether it be good or bad, neither shall he change it: And if he change it at all, then both it and its change shall be holy; it shall not be redeemed.

²⁴ But the tithes of the children of Israel, which they offer as a heave offering to the LORD, I have given to the Levites to inherit: Therefore I have said to them, "Among the children of Israel they shall have no inheritance.

⁴ And God met Balaam: And he said to him, "I have prepared seven altars, and I have offered on every altar a bull and a ram.

¹³ And Samuel came to Saul: And Saul said to him, "Blessed be you of the LORD: I have performed the commandment of the LORD."

¹⁶ And he said, "Come with me, and see my zeal for the LORD. So they made him ride in his chariot.

² Yet they seek Me daily, and delight to know My ways, as a nation that did righteousness, and did not forsake the ordinance of their God: They ask of Me the ordinances of justice; they take delight in approaching God. ³ They say, 'Why have we fasted, and You do not see? Why have we afflicted our soul, and You do not take notice?' Behold, in the day of your fast you find pleasure, and compel all your labors.

⁵ "Speak to all the people of the land, and to the priests, saying, 'When you all fasted and mourned in the fifth and seventh month, even those seventy years, did you all really fast to Me at all, even to Me? ⁶ And when you all ate, and when you all drank, did not all you eat for yourselves, and drink for yourselves?

⁸ Will a man rob God? Yet you all have robbed Me. But you all say, 'In what have we robbed You?' In tithes and offerings.

¹ "Take heed that you do not do your charitable deeds in front of men, to be seen by them: Otherwise you have no reward from your Father which is in heaven.

¹⁶ Moreover, when you fast, do not be as the hypocrites, with a sad countenance: For they disfigure their faces, that they may appear to men to be fasting. Truly I say to you, They have their reward.

¹⁴ Then the disciples of John came to Him, saying, "Why do we and the Pharisees fast often, but your disciples do not fast?"

⁷ You hypocrites, Isaiah prophesied well concerning you, saying: ⁸ 'These people draw near to Me with their mouth, and honor Me with their lips; but their heart is far from Me. ⁹ But in vain they worship Me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.' "

²³ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law; judgment, mercy, and faith: These you ought to have done, and not leave the others undone. ²⁴ You blind guides, who strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel.

⁴² But woe to you, Pharisees! For you tithe mint and rue and all manner of herbs, and pass over judgment and the love of God: These you ought to have done, and not left the others undone.

¹⁰ So likewise you, when you have done all those things which you are commanded, say, 'We are unprofitable servants: We have done what was our duty to do.' "

²⁷ Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? Of works? No: But by the law of faith.

¹ Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is that they might be saved. ² For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge. ³ For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves to the righteousness of God.

²⁹ That no flesh should glory in His presence.

¹⁴ And I profited in the Jews' religion beyond many of my equals in my own nation, being more exceedingly zealous for the traditions of my fathers.

⁹ Not of works, lest any man should boast.

⁸ For bodily exercise profits little: But godliness is profitable to all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.

¹² And when he was in affliction, he sought the LORD his God, and humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers, ¹³ and prayed to him: And he was entreated of him, and heard his supplication, and brought him again to Jerusalem into his kingdom. Then Manasseh knew that the LORD he was God.

¹⁹ His prayer also, and how God was entreated of him, and all his sins, and his trespass, and the places in which he built high places, and set up groves and graven images, before he was humbled: Behold, they are written among the sayings of the seers.

²³ and humbled not himself before the LORD, as Manasseh his father had humbled himself; but Amon trespassed more and more.

⁶ and said, "O my God, I am ashamed and blush to lift up my face to you, my God: For our iniquities are increased over our head, and our trespass is grown up to heaven.

⁶ For which reason I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes.

⁷ Do not remember the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions: According to your mercy remember me for Your goodness' sake, O LORD.

¹¹ For Your name's sake, O LORD, pardon my iniquity; for it is great.

¹² For innumerable evils have compassed around me: My iniquities have taken hold upon me, so that I am not able to look up; they are more than the hairs of my head: Therefore my heart fails me.

⁴ I said, "LORD, be merciful to me: Heal my soul; for I have sinned against you."

¹ Have mercy upon me, O God, according to Your lovingkindness: According to the multitude of your tender mercies blot out my transgressions. ² Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. ³ For I acknowledge my transgressions: And my sin is ever before me.

¹⁵ But You, O LORD, are a God full of compassion, and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in mercy and truth. ¹⁶ Oh, turn to me, and have mercy upon me; give Your strength to Your servant, and save the son of Your handmaid.

⁶ We have sinned with our fathers, we have committed iniquity, we have done wickedly.

⁴¹ VAU: Let Your mercies come also to me, O LORD, even Your salvation, according to Your word,

³ If You, LORD, should mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand? ⁴ But there is forgiveness with You, that You may be feared.

⁷ Let Israel hope in the LORD: For with the LORD there is mercy, and with Him is plentiful redemption.

¹⁸ "Come now, and let us reason together", said the LORD: "though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

⁵ Then I said, "Woe is me! For I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: For my eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts."

⁵ You meet him who rejoices and works righteousness, those who remember You in Your ways: Behold, You are wroth; for we have sinned: In those is continuance, and we shall be saved. ⁶ But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.

¹⁸ I have surely heard Ephraim bemoaning himself saying; 'You have chastised me, and I was chastised, as a bull unaccustomed to the yoke: Turn me, and I shall be turned; for you are the LORD My God. ¹⁹ Surely after that I was turned, I repented; and after that I was instructed, I smote on my thigh: I was ashamed, yes, even confounded, because I bore the reproach of my youth.'

⁶³ That you may remember, and be confounded, and never open your mouth any more because of your shame, when I am pacified toward you for all that you have done", said the Lord GOD.' "

⁵ we have sinned, and have committed iniquity, and have done wickedly, and have rebelled, even by departing from Your precepts and from Your judgments:

⁷ O LORD, righteousness belongs to You, but to us confusion of faces, as at this time; to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and to all Israel, that are near, and that are far off, through all the countries to which You have driven them, because of their trespass that they have trespassed against You. ⁸ O Lord, to us belongs confusion of face, to our kings, to our princes, and to our fathers, because we have sinned against You. ⁹ To the LORD our God belong mercies and forgivenesses, though we have rebelled against Him; ¹⁰ neither have we obeyed the voice of the LORD our God, to walk in His laws, which He set before us by His servants the prophets. ¹¹ Yes, all Israel has transgressed Your law, even by departing, that they might not obey Your voice; therefore the curse is poured upon us, and the oath that is written in the law of Moses the servant of God, because we have sinned against Him.

¹⁸ O my God, incline Your ear, and hear; open Your eyes, and behold our desolations, and the city which is called by Your name: For we do not present our supplications before You on account of our righteousnesses, but because of Your great mercies. ¹⁹ O Lord, hear; O Lord, forgive; O Lord, hearken and do; Defer not, for Your own sake, O my God: For Your city and Your people are called by Your name."

¹³ But go and learn what this means: 'I will have mercy, and not sacrifice': For I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance."

⁸ When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, "Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord."

⁶ Then Jesus went with them. And when He was now not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to Him, saying to Him, "Lord, do not trouble Yourself: For I am not worthy that You should enter under my roof: ⁷ Therefore I neither did I count myself worthy to come to You: But say in a word, and my servant shall be healed.

¹⁸ I will arise and go to my father, and will say to him, "Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before you, ¹⁹ and am no longer worthy to be called your son: Make me as one of your hired servants." ' ²⁰ And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was still a long way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him. ²¹ And the son said to him, 'Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in your sight, and am no longer worthy to be called your son.'

¹² Then, as He entered into a certain village, there met Him ten men that were lepers, who stood afar off.

⁴⁰ But the other answering rebuked him, saying, "Do you not fear God, seeing you are under the same condemnation? ⁴¹ And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: But this Man has done nothing amiss." ⁴² Then he said to Jesus, "Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom." ⁴³ And Jesus said to him, "Truly I say to you, Today you shall be with Me in Paradise."

⁴⁸ And all the people who came together to that sight, beholding the things which were done, struck their chests, and returned.

³⁷ Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said to Peter and to the rest of the apostles, "Men and brethren, what shall we do?"

⁸ But God commends His love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

²⁰ Moreover the law entered, that the offense might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound: ²¹ That as sin has reigned to death, even so might grace reign through righteousness to eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.

¹¹ For behold this very same thing, that you sorrowed in a godly manner, yes, what diligence it produced in you, yes, what defense of yourselves, yes, what indignation, yes, what fear, yes, what vehement desire, yes, what zeal, yes, what revenge! In all things you have commended yourselves to be clear in this matter.

¹⁵ This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.

¹⁶ Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

¹² For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and iniquities I will remember no more."

⁸ If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. ⁹ If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. ¹⁰ If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.

¹¹ Now I know that the LORD is greater than all gods: For in the thing about which they dealt proudly He was above them."

¹⁸ And she said, "Let your handmaid find grace in your sight." So the woman went her way, and ate, and her countenance was no longer sad.

²⁰ If I justify myself, my own mouth shall condemn me: If I say, "I am perfect, it shall also prove me perverse.

²⁹ When men are cast down, then you shall say, "There is lifting up; and he shall save the humble person.

⁴ How then can man be justified with God? Or how can he be clean that is born of a woman?

⁹ Do you have an arm like God? Or can you thunder with a voice like Him? ¹⁰ Deck yourself now with majesty and excellency; and array yourself with glory and beauty. ¹¹ Cast abroad the rage of your wrath: And behold everyone that is proud, and abase him. ¹² Look on everyone that is proud, and bring him low; and tread down the wicked in their place. ¹³ Hide them in the dust together; and bind their faces in secret.

⁶ Though the LORD is high, yet He has respect to the lowly: But the proud He knows afar off.

² And do not enter into judgment with Your servant: For in Your sight no man living shall be justified.

³⁴ Surely He scorns the scorners: But He gives grace to the lowly.

³³ The fear of the LORD is the instruction of wisdom; and before honor is humility.

¹⁸ Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall. ¹⁹ It is better to be of a humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud.

¹² Before destruction the heart of man is haughty, and before honor is humility.

²³ A man's pride shall bring him low: But honor shall uphold the humble in spirit.

⁷ Go your way, eat your bread with joy, and drink your wine with a merry heart; God accepts your works for now.

¹¹ The lofty looks of man shall be humbled, and the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, and the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day. ¹² For the day of the LORD of hosts shall be on everyone that is proud and lofty, and on everyone that is lifted up; and he shall be brought low: ¹³ And on all the cedars of Lebanon, that are high and lifted up, and on all the oaks of Bashan, ¹⁴ and on all the high mountains, and on all the hills that are lifted up, ¹⁵ and on every high tower, and on every fenced wall, ¹⁶ and on all the ships of Tarshish, and on all pleasant pictures. ¹⁷ And the loftiness of man shall be bowed down, and the haughtiness of men shall be made low: And the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day.

²⁵ In the LORD all the seed of Israel shall be justified, and shall glory.' "

¹¹ He shall see of the travail of His soul, and shall be satisfied: By His knowledge my righteous servant shall justify many; for He shall bear their iniquities.

¹⁵ For thus says the high and lofty One who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also who is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.

³⁷ Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and extol and honor the King of heaven, all whose works are truth, and His ways judgment: And those who walk in pride He is able to abase.

⁴ Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: But the just shall live by his faith.

³ "Blessed are the poor in spirit: For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

¹² And whoever exalts himself shall be abased; and he that humbles himself shall be exalted.

⁵² He has put down the mighty from their seats, and exalted those of low degree.

²⁴ But that you may know that the Son of Man has power upon earth to forgive sins", (He said to the man sick with the palsy), "I say to you, Arise, take up your bed, and go your way into your house." ²⁵ And immediately he rose up before them, took up what he had been lying on, and departed to his own house, glorifying God.

⁴⁷ Therefore I say to you, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: But to whom little is forgiven, the same loves little." ⁴⁸ Moreover He said to her, "Your sins are forgiven." ⁴⁹ And those who sat to eat with Him began to say within themselves, "Who is this that forgives sins also?" ⁵⁰ And He said to the woman, "Your faith has saved you; go in peace."

¹¹ For whoever exalts himself shall be abased; and he that humbles himself shall be exalted."

²⁰ Therefore by the deeds of the law no flesh shall be justified in His sight: For by the law is the knowledge of sin.

⁵ But to him that does not work, but believes on Him that justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted as righteousness.

¹ Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

¹⁶ knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: For by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified.

²¹ Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he offered Isaac his son upon the altar? ²² Do you see how faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made perfect? ²³ And the scripture was fulfilled which says, "Abraham believed God, and it was imputed to him as righteousness": And he was called the Friend of God. ²⁴ You see then how a man is justified by works, and not by faith only. ²⁵ Likewise, was not Rahab the harlot also justified by works when she received the messengers, and sent them out another way?

⁶ But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: "God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble."

¹⁰ Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He shall lift you up.

⁵ Likewise you younger ones, submit yourselves to the elder. Yes, all of you be subject to one another, and be clothed with humility: For "God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble." ⁶ Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time:

²⁴ And when she had weaned him, she took him up with her, with three bulls, and one ephah of flour, and a bottle of wine, and brought him to the house of the LORD in Shiloh: And the child was young.

¹³ Then little children were brought to Him, that He should put His hands on them, and pray: And the disciples rebuked them. ¹⁴ But Jesus said, "Permit little children to come to Me, and do not forbid them: For of such is the kingdom of heaven." ¹⁵ And He laid His hands on them, and departed from there.

¹³ Then they brought young children to Him, that He should touch them; and His disciples rebuked those who brought them. ¹⁴ But when Jesus saw it, He was greatly displeased, and said to them, "Permit the little children to come to Me, and do not forbid them: For of such is the kingdom of God. ¹⁵ Truly I say to you, Whoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter into it." ¹⁶ And He took them up in His arms, put His hands upon them, and blessed them.

⁴⁹ Moreover John answered and said, "Master, we saw someone casting out devils in Your name; and we forbade him, because he does not follow with us." ⁵⁰ But Jesus said to him, "Do not forbid him: For he that is not against us is for us."

⁵⁴ And when His disciples James and John saw this, they said, "Lord, would you like that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elijah did?"

⁴ And Abraham circumcised his son Isaac being eight days old, as God had commanded him.

¹⁰ And Jacob blessed Pharaoh, and went out from before Pharaoh. ¹¹ And Joseph placed his father and his brothers, and gave them a possession in the land of Egypt, in the best of the land, in the land of Rameses, as Pharaoh had commanded. ¹² And Joseph nourished his father, and his brothers, and all his father's household, with bread, according to their families. ¹³ And there was no bread in all the land; for the famine was very severe, so that the land of Egypt and all the land of Canaan fainted because of the famine. ¹⁴ And Joseph gathered up all the money that was found in the land of Egypt, and in the land of Canaan, for the grain which they bought: And Joseph brought the money into Pharaoh's house.

¹¹ your little ones, your wives, and your stranger that is in your camp, from the hewer of your wood to the drawer of your water:

¹² Gather the people together, men and women, and children, and your stranger that is within your gates, that they may hear, and that they may learn, and fear the LORD your God, and observe to do all the words of this law:

¹³ And all Judah stood before the LORD, with their little ones, their wives, and their children.

³⁹ And I will give them one heart, and one way, that they may fear Me forever, for the good of them, and of their children after them:

³ and said, "Truly I say to you, Unless you are converted, and become as little children, you shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. ⁴ Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

³⁹ For the promise is to you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call."

¹⁴ Because the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband: Otherwise your children are unclean; but now they are holy.

²⁰ Brethren, do not be children in understanding: Yet in malice be children, but in understanding be men.

² as newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that you may grow thereby:

¹ A Song of degrees of David. LORD, my heart is not haughty, nor my eyes lofty: Neither do I exercise myself in great matters, nor in things too high for me. ² Surely I have behaved and quieted myself, as a child that is weaned of his mother: My soul is even as a weaned child.

³ and said, "Truly I say to you, Unless you are converted, and become as little children, you shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.

¹⁵ Truly I say to you, Whoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter into it."

¹⁴ as obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:

⁶ "A son honors his father, and a servant his master: If then I am a father, where is My honor? And if I am a master, where is My fear?, says the LORD of hosts to you, O priests, that despise My name. And you all say, 'In what have we despised Your name?'

¹⁶ And behold, one came and said to Him, "Good Master, what good thing should I do, that I may have eternal life?" ¹⁷ And He said to him, "Why do you call Me good? There are none good except One, that is, God: But if you desire to enter into life, keep the commandments." ¹⁸ He said to Him, "Which ones?" Jesus said, " 'You shall not murder', 'You shall not commit adultery', 'You shall not steal', 'You shall not bear false witness', ¹⁹ 'Honor your father and your mother': And, 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' " ²⁰ The young man said to Him, "I have kept all these things from my youth on up: What do I still lack?" ²¹ Jesus said to Him, "If you desire to be perfect, go and sell what you have, and give to the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven: And come and follow Me." ²² But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: For he had many possessions. ²³ Then Jesus said to His disciples, "Truly I say to you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven. ²⁴ And again I say to you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God." ²⁵ When His disciples heard it, they were exceedingly amazed, saying, "Who then can be saved?" ²⁶ But Jesus beheld them, and said to them, "With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible." ²⁷ Then Peter answered and said to Him, "Behold, we have forsaken all, and followed You; what shall we therefore have?" ²⁸ And Jesus said to them, "Truly I say to you, That in the regeneration when the Son of Man shall sit on the throne of His glory, you who have followed Me shall also sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. ²⁹ And everyone who has forsaken houses, or brothers, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for My name's sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life. ³⁰ But many that are first shall be last; and the last shall be first."

¹⁷ And when He had gone forth into the roadway, there came one running, and he kneeled to Him, and asked Him, "Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?" ¹⁸ And Jesus said to him, "Why do you call Me good? There is none good, except One, that is, God. ¹⁹ You know the commandments: 'Do not commit adultery', 'Do not kill', 'Do not steal', 'Do not bear false witness', 'Do not defraud', 'Honor your father and your mother.' " ²⁰ And he answered and said to Him, "Master, I have observed all these from my youth." ²¹ Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said to him, "One thing you lack: Go your way, sell whatever you have, and give to the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven: And come, take up the cross, and follow Me." ²² And he was sad at that word, and went away grieved: For he had great possessions. ²³ Then Jesus looked around, and said to His disciples, "How hardly shall those that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!" ²⁴ And the disciples were astonished at His words. But Jesus answered again, and said to them, "Children, how hard it is for those who trust in riches to enter into the kingdom of God! ²⁵ It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God." ²⁶ And they were exceedingly astonished, saying among themselves, "Who then can be saved?" ²⁷ Now Jesus looking upon them said, "With men it is impossible, but not with God: For with God all things are possible." ²⁸ Then Peter began to say to Him, "Look, we have left all, and have followed You." ²⁹ And Jesus answered and said, "Truly I say to you, There is no man who has left house, or brothers, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for My sake, and the gospel's, ³⁰ but he shall receive a hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brothers, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life. ³¹ But many that are first shall be last; and the last first."

⁴⁶ Moreover why do you call Me 'Lord, Lord', and not do the things which I say?

²⁵ And behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted Him, saying, "Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?" ²⁶ He said to him, "What is written in the law? How do you read it?" ²⁷ And he answering said, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself." ²⁸ And He said to him, "You have answered right: Do this, and you shall live."

¹³ You call Me Master and Lord: And you say well; for so I am. ¹⁴ If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; you also ought to wash one another's feet. ¹⁵ For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you.

³⁰ And brought them out, and said, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?"

⁴ Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? Not one.

¹⁴ What is man, that he should be clean? And he which is born of a woman, that he should be righteous? ¹⁵ Behold, he puts no trust in his saints; yes, the heavens are not clean in his sight. ¹⁶ How much more abominable and filthy is man, which drinks iniquity like water?

³⁵ And the angel answered and said to her, "The Holy Spirit shall come upon you, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow you: Therefore that Holy One which shall be born of you shall also be called the Son of God.

¹⁶ And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen among angels, preached to the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

²⁶ For such a High Priest suited us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens;

¹⁷ Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, nor shadow of turning.

¹² Honor your father and your mother: That your days may be long upon the land which the LORD your God gives you. ¹³ You shall not kill. ¹⁴ You shall not commit adultery. ¹⁵ You shall not steal. ¹⁶ You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor. ¹⁷ You shall not covet your neighbor's house, you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor's."

¹⁶ Honor your father and your mother, as the LORD your God has commanded you; that your days may be prolonged, and that it may go well with you, in the land which the LORD your God gives you. ¹⁷ You shall not kill. ¹⁸ Neither shall you commit adultery. ¹⁹ Neither shall you steal. ²⁰ Neither shall you bear false witness against your neighbor. ²¹ Neither shall you desire your neighbor's wife, neither shall you covet your neighbor's house, his field, or his manservant, or his maidservant, his ox, or his donkey, or anything that is your neighbor's.

²⁰ To the law and to the testimony: If they do not speak according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.

¹⁷ And He said to him, "Why do you call Me good? There are none good except One, that is, God: But if you desire to enter into life, keep the commandments." ¹⁸ He said to Him, "Which ones?" Jesus said, " 'You shall not murder', 'You shall not commit adultery', 'You shall not steal', 'You shall not bear false witness', ¹⁹ 'Honor your father and your mother': And, 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' "

¹⁸ And Jesus said to him, "Why do you call Me good? There is none good, except One, that is, God. ¹⁹ You know the commandments: 'Do not commit adultery', 'Do not kill', 'Do not steal', 'Do not bear false witness', 'Do not defraud', 'Honor your father and your mother.' "

⁷ What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. No, I had not known sin, but by the law: For I had not known lust, except that the law said, "You shall not covet." ⁸ But sin, taking occasion by the commandment, worked in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law sin was dead. ⁹ For I was alive without the law once: But when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died. ¹⁰ And the commandment, which was ordained to life, I found to instead be to death. ¹¹ For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by the commandment slew me.

⁹ For these, "You shall not commit adultery", "You shall not kill", "You shall not steal", "You shall not bear false witness", "You shall not covet"; and if there is any other commandment, it is concisely understood by this saying, namely, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself."

¹⁰ For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: For it is written, "Cursed is everyone that does not continue in all things which are written in the book of the law, to do them." ¹¹ But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God is evident: For, "The just shall live by faith." ¹² And the law is not of faith: But, "The man who does them shall live in them." ¹³ Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: For it is written, "Cursed is everyone that hangs on a tree":

² "Honor your father and mother"; (which is the first commandment with promise);

²⁰ Children, obey your parents in all things: For this is well pleasing to the Lord.

⁸ If you fulfill the royal law according to the scripture, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself", you do well: ⁹ But if you have reverence to people, you commit sin, and are convinced by the law as being transgressors. ¹⁰ For whoever keeps the whole law, and yet offends in one point, he is guilty of all. ¹¹ For He that said, "Do not commit adultery", also said, "Do not kill." Now if you do not commit adultery, yet if you kill, you have become a transgressor of the law.

²⁰ The young man said to Him, "I have kept all these things from my youth on up: What do I still lack?" ²¹ Jesus said to Him, "If you desire to be perfect, go and sell what you have, and give to the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven: And come and follow Me."

²⁰ And he answered and said to Him, "Master, I have observed all these from my youth." ²¹ Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said to him, "One thing you lack: Go your way, sell whatever you have, and give to the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven: And come, take up the cross, and follow Me."

⁷ I say to you, That likewise more joy shall be in heaven over one sinner who repents, than over ninety-nine just persons, which need no repentance.

²⁹ And he answering said to his father, 'Look, these many years I serve you, neither have I transgressed your commandment at any time: And yet you never gave me a kid goat, that I might make merry with my friends:

¹¹ The Pharisee stood and prayed in this manner with himself, 'God, I thank You that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. ¹² I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.'

⁴ One thing I have desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to inquire in His temple.

¹⁹ Do not store up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust corrupts, and where thieves break in and steal: ²⁰ But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust corrupts, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:

²¹ Jesus said to Him, "If you desire to be perfect, go and sell what you have, and give to the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven: And come and follow Me."

²⁷ Then Peter answered and said to Him, "Behold, we have forsaken all, and followed You; what shall we therefore have?" ²⁸ And Jesus said to them, "Truly I say to you, That in the regeneration when the Son of Man shall sit on the throne of His glory, you who have followed Me shall also sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

²³ Moreover He said to them all, "If any man will come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.

⁵⁷ And it came to pass, that as they journeyed on the roadway, a certain man said to Him, "Lord, I will follow You wherever You go." ⁵⁸ And Jesus said to him, "Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head." ⁵⁹ Moreover He said to another, "Follow Me." But he said, "Lord, permit me first to go and bury my father." ⁶⁰ Jesus said to him, "Let the dead bury their dead: But you go and preach the kingdom of God." ⁶¹ And another also said, "Lord, I will follow You; but let me first go bid them farewell, which are at home at my house." ⁶² But Jesus said to him, "No man, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God."

⁴² But one thing is necessary: And Mary has chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her."

³³ Sell what you have, and give alms; provide yourselves bags which do not wax old, a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief approaches, neither moth corrupts.

⁹ And I say to you, Make for yourselves friends of the mammon of unrighteousness; that when you fail, they may receive you into everlasting habitations.

⁴⁴ Now all who believed were together, and had all things in common; ⁴⁵ and sold their possessions and goods, and divided them to all men, as every man had need.

³⁴ Neither was there any among them who lacked: For as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the proceeds of the things that were sold, ³⁵ and laid them down at the apostles' feet: And distribution was made to every man accordingly as he had need. ³⁶ And Joses, who was surnamed Barnabas by the apostles (which being interpreted is, The son of Consolation), a Levite, and of the country of Cyprus, ³⁷ having land, sold it, and brought the money, and laid it at the apostles' feet.

¹³ Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended: But this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth to those things which are ahead,

¹⁸ that they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate; ¹⁹ laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.

⁸ But, beloved, do not be ignorant of this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

²³ And they cried out to the children of Dan. And they turned their faces, and said to Micah, "What ails you, that you come with such a company? ²⁴ And he said, "You have taken away my gods which I made, and the priest, and you are gone away: And what have I more? And what is this that you say to me, What ails you?

²⁴ If I have made gold my hope, or have said to the fine gold, You are my confidence; ²⁵ if I rejoice because my wealth was great, and because my hand had gotten much;

²² But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: For he had many possessions.

²² And he was sad at that word, and went away grieved: For he had great possessions.

¹⁴ And that which fell among thorns are they which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection.

¹⁵ And He said to them, "Take heed, and beware of covetousness: For a man's life does not subsist in the abundance of the things which he possesses."

⁸ Now Zacchaeus stood, and said to the Lord; "Behold, Lord, I give half of my goods to the poor; and if I have taken anything from anyone by false accusation, I restore him fourfold."

³⁴ Also take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with gluttony, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you when unaware.

⁵ For this you know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.

⁸ Yes without doubt, and I count all things as loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: For whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as dung, that I may win Christ,

⁵ Therefore mortify your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:

¹⁵ Do not love the world, nor the things that are in the world. If any man loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

¹⁰ And it shall be, when the LORD your God shall have brought you into the land which He swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give you great and goodly cities, which you built not, ¹¹ and houses full of all good things, which you filled not, and wells dig, which you digged not, vineyards and olive trees, which you planted not; when you shall have eaten and be full; ¹² then beware lest you forget the LORD, which brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.

¹¹ Beware that you forget not the LORD your God, in not keeping his commandments, and his judgments, and his statutes, which I command you this day: ¹² Lest when you have eaten and are full, and have built goodly houses, and dwelled in it; ¹³ and when your herds and your flocks multiply, and your silver and your gold is multiplied, and all that you have is multiplied; ¹⁴ then your heart be lifted up, and you forget the LORD your God, which brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage; ¹⁵ who led you through that great and terrible wilderness, in which were fiery serpents, and scorpions, and drought, where there was no water; who brought you forth water out of the rock of flint; ¹⁶ who fed you in the wilderness with manna, which your fathers knew not, that he might humble you, and that he might prove you, to do you good at your latter end; ¹⁷ and you say in your heart, My power and the might of my hand has gotten me this wealth.

³ For the wicked boasts of his heart's desire, and blesses the covetous, whom the LORD abhors.

⁵ They are not in trouble as other men; neither are they plagued like other men. ⁶ Therefore pride compasses them about as a chain; violence covers them as a garment. ⁷ Their eyes stand out with fatness: They have more than heart could wish. ⁸ They are corrupt, and speak wickedly concerning oppression: They speak loftily. ⁹ They set their mouth against the heavens, and their tongue walks through the earth. ¹⁰ Therefore his people return here: And waters of a full cup are wrung out to them. ¹¹ And they say, "How does God know? And is there knowledge in the most High?" ¹² Behold, these are the ungodly, who prosper in the world; they increase in riches.

²⁸ He that trusts in his riches shall fall: But the righteous shall flourish as a branch.

¹¹ The rich man's wealth is his strong city, and as a high wall in his own conceit.

⁹ Lest I be full, and deny You, and say, 'Who is the LORD?' Or lest I be poor, and steal, and take the name of my God in vain.

³¹ O generation, see the word of the LORD all of you. Have I been a wilderness to Israel? A land of darkness? Why do my people say, 'We are lords; we will not come to You anymore'?

⁵ I will go myself to the great men, and will speak to them; for they have known the way of the LORD, and the judgment of their God: But these have altogether broken the yoke, and burst the bonds.

²³ Then Jesus said to His disciples, "Truly I say to you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven. ²⁴ And again I say to you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God." ²⁵ When His disciples heard it, they were exceedingly amazed, saying, "Who then can be saved?"

²⁶ And the king was exceedingly sorry; yet for his oath's sake, and for the sakes of those who sat with him, he would not reject her request.

²³ Then Jesus looked around, and said to His disciples, "How hardly shall those that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!" ²⁴ And the disciples were astonished at His words. But Jesus answered again, and said to them, "Children, how hard it is for those who trust in riches to enter into the kingdom of God! ²⁵ It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God." ²⁶ And they were exceedingly astonished, saying among themselves, "Who then can be saved?" ²⁷ Now Jesus looking upon them said, "With men it is impossible, but not with God: For with God all things are possible."

²⁶ For you see your calling, brethren, how not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: ²⁷ But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God has chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;

⁹ Now I rejoice, not that you were made sorry, but that you sorrowed to repentance: For you were made sorry in a godly manner, that you might suffer damage by us in nothing. ¹⁰ For godly sorrow works out repentance to salvation, not to be regretted: But the sorrow of the world works death.

⁹ But those that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. ¹⁰ For the love of money is the root of all evil: Which while coveting after, some have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

⁵ Hearken, my beloved brethren, has not God chosen the poor of this world to be rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which He has promised to those that love Him? ⁶ But you have despised the poor. Do not rich men oppress you, and draw you before the judgment seats? ⁷ Do they not blaspheme that worthy name by which you are called?

¹ Go now, you rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you. ² Your riches are corrupted, and your clothes are moth-eaten. ³ Your gold and silver are cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as if it were fire. You have heaped treasure together for the last days. ⁴ Behold, the wages of the laborers who have harvested your fields, which you partially kept back by fraud, cries out: And the cries of those which have reaped have entered into the ears of the Lord of Sabaoth. ⁵ You have lived in pleasure on the earth, and been wanton; you have nourished your hearts, as in a day of slaughter. ⁶ You have condemned and killed the just; and he does not resist you.

²⁴ You blind guides, who strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel.

²³ Then one said to Him, "Lord, are there few who are saved?" And He said to them,

¹⁴ Is anything too hard for the LORD? At the time appointed I will return to you, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son."

² I know that you can do every thing, and that no thought can be withheld from you.

¹⁷ 'Ah Lord GOD! Behold, You have made the heaven and the earth by Your great power and outstretched arm, and there is nothing too hard for you:

³⁵ And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: And He does according to His will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: And none can stay His hand, or say to Him, "What are You doing?"

⁶ Thus says the LORD of hosts; 'If it is marvelous in the eyes of the remnant of this people in these days, should it also be marvelous in My eyes?' says the LORD of hosts.

²⁶ But Jesus beheld them, and said to them, "With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible."

³⁷ For with God nothing shall be impossible."

¹⁹ and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power, ²⁰ which He worked in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead, and set Him at His own right hand in the heavenly places,

⁴ But God, who is rich in mercy, through His great love with which He loved us, ⁵ even when we were dead in sins, has vivified us together with Christ, (by grace you are saved); ⁶ and has raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: ⁷ That in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. ⁸ For by grace you are saved through faith, and that not of yourselves: It is the gift of God: ⁹ Not of works, lest any man should boast. ¹⁰ For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God has ordained beforehand that we should walk in them.

¹⁹ And He said to them, "Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men." ²⁰ And they immediately left their nets, and followed Him. ²¹ And going on from there, He saw two other brethren, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in a ship with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and He called them. ²² And they immediately left the ship and their father, and followed Him.

⁹ And as Jesus departed from there, He saw a man, named Matthew, sitting at the receipt of customs: And He said to him, "Follow Me." And he arose, and followed Him.

²⁷ Then Peter answered and said to Him, "Behold, we have forsaken all, and followed You; what shall we therefore have?"

²⁸ Then Peter began to say to Him, "Look, we have left all, and have followed You."

¹¹ Therefore when they had brought their ships to land, they forsook all, and followed Him.

⁷ But what things were gain to me, those I counted as losses for Christ.

⁹ who said to his father and to his mother, I have not seen him; neither did he acknowledge his brothers, nor knew his own children: For they have observed your word, and kept your covenant.

³⁷ He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me: And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. ³⁸ And he who does not take up his cross, and follow after Me, is not worthy of Me. ³⁹ He who finds his life shall lose it: And he who loses his life for My sake shall find it.

²⁶ "If anyone comes to Me, and does not hate his father, mother, wife, children, brethren, and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he cannot be My disciple. ²⁷ And whoever does not bear his cross, and come after Me, cannot be My disciple. ²⁸ For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first, and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it?

¹⁰ And the LORD turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: Also the LORD gave Job twice as much as he had before.

¹⁶ A little that a righteous man has is better than the riches of many wicked.

⁴ Thus I will bless You while I live: I will lift up my hands in Your name. ⁵ My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise You with joyful lips:

¹⁰ For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand elsewhere. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness. ¹¹ For the LORD God is a sun and shield: The LORD will give grace and glory: He will not withhold any good thing from those that walk uprightly. ¹² O LORD of hosts, blessed is the man who trusts in You.

⁷² The law of Your mouth is better to me than thousands of gold and silver.

¹⁰³ How sweet are Your words to my taste! Yes, sweeter than honey to my mouth!

¹¹¹ I have taken Your testimonies as a heritage forever: For they are the rejoicing of my heart.

¹²⁷ Therefore I love Your commandments above gold; yes, above fine gold.

¹⁶² I rejoice at Your word, as one that finds great spoil.

³² And whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man, it shall be forgiven him: But whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, nor in the world to come.

³¹ But rather seek the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added to you. ³² Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.

²¹ What fruit did you have then in those things of which you are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death. ²² But now being made free from sin, and having become servants to God, you have your fruit to holiness, and the end everlasting life. ²³ For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

⁶ But godliness with contentment is great gain.

⁵ Let your behavior be without covetousness; and be content with such things as you have: For He has said, "I will never leave you, nor forsake you." ⁶ So that we may boldly say, "The LORD is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do to me."

¹⁰ Fear none of those things which you shall suffer: Behold, the devil shall throw some of you into prison, that you may be proven; and you shall have tribulation ten days: Be faithful to death, and I will give you a crown of life.

¹⁷ "He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches; to him that overcomes I will give to eat from the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knows except him that receives it." '

²¹ To him that overcomes I will grant to sit with Me in My throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with My Father in His throne."

¹ Who has believed our report? And to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed? ² For He shall grow up before Him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: He has no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see Him, there is no beauty that we should desire Him. ³ He is despised and rejected by men; a Man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: And we hid our faces from Him as it were; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. ⁴ Surely He has borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: Yet we had esteemed Him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. ⁵ But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities: The chastisement of our peace was upon Him; and with His stripes we are healed. ⁶ All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned, every one, to his own way; and the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all. ⁷ He was oppressed, and He was afflicted, yet He did not open his mouth: He is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is silent, so He does not open his mouth. ⁸ He was taken from prison and from judgment: And who shall declare His generation? For He was cut off out of the land of the living: For the transgression of My people was He stricken. ⁹ And He made His grave with the wicked, and with the rich in His death; because He had done no violence, neither was any deceit in His mouth. ¹⁰ Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise Him; He has put Him to grief: When you shall make His soul an offering for sin, He shall see His seed, He shall prolong His days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in His hand. ¹¹ He shall see of the travail of His soul, and shall be satisfied: By His knowledge my righteous servant shall justify many; for He shall bear their iniquities. ¹² Therefore I will divide to Him a portion with the great, and He shall divide the spoil with the strong; because He has poured out His soul to death: And He was numbered with the transgressors; and He bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.

²⁶ And after sixty-two weeks Messiah shall be cut off, but not for Himself: And the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end of it shall be with a flood, and until the end of the war desolations are determined.

⁷ "Awake, O sword, against My shepherd, and against the man that is My fellow", says the LORD of hosts: "Smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered: And I will turn My hand upon the little ones.

²¹ From that time forward Jesus began to show to His disciples how He must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be slain, and be raised again the third day.

²² And while they abode in Galilee, Jesus said to them, "The Son of Man shall be betrayed into the hands of men: ²³ And they shall kill Him, and the third day He shall be raised again." And they were exceedingly sorrowful.

¹⁷ Then Jesus going up to Jerusalem took the twelve disciples aside on the way, and said to them, ¹⁸ "Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of Man shall be betrayed to the chief priests and to the scribes, and they shall condemn Him to death, ¹⁹ and shall deliver Him to the Gentiles to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify Him: And the third day He shall rise again."

⁹ Now those who had eaten were about four thousand: And He sent them away.

³⁰ Then He charged them that they should tell no man of Him. ³¹ And He began to teach them, that the Son of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders, and by the chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again.

³² Now they were on the road going up to Jerusalem; and Jesus went before them: And they were amazed; and as they followed, they were afraid. Then He took the twelve again, and began to tell them what things would happen to Him, ³³ saying, "Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of Man shall be delivered to the chief priests, and to the scribes; and they shall condemn Him to death, and shall deliver Him to the Gentiles: ³⁴ And they shall mock Him, and shall scourge Him, and shall spit upon Him, and shall kill Him: And the third day He shall rise again."

²² saying, "The Son of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be slain, and be raised the third day."

⁵¹ And it came to pass, when the time had come that he was to be received up, He steadfastly set His face to go to Jerusalem,

⁶ He is not here, but is risen: Remember how He spoke to you when He was still in Galilee, ⁷ saying, 'The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.' "

⁴⁴ And He said to them, "These are the words which I spoke to you, while I was still with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the Law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the Psalms, concerning Me." ⁴⁵ Then He opened their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures, ⁴⁶ and He said to them, "Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:

⁶ I gave My back to the smiters, and My cheeks to those who plucked off the hair: I did not hide My face from shame and spitting.

¹⁴ As many were astonished at you; His visage was so marred more than any man, and His form more than the sons of men:

³ He is despised and rejected by men; a Man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: And we hid our faces from Him as it were; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him.

¹ Now gather yourself in troops, O daughter of troops: He has laid siege against us: They shall smite the judge of Israel upon the cheek with a rod.

⁶⁷ Then they spat in His face, and buffeted Him; and others smote Him with the palms of their hands,

² And when they had bound Him, they led Him away, and delivered Him to the governor Pontius Pilate.

²⁸ And they stripped Him, and put a scarlet robe on Him. ²⁹ And when they had platted a crown of thorns, they put it upon His head, and a reed in His right hand: And they bowed the knee before Him, and mocked Him, saying, "Hail, King of the Jews!" ³⁰ Then they spat upon Him, and took the reed, and smote Him on the head.

⁶⁵ Then some began to spit on Him, and to cover His face, and to buffet Him, and to say to Him, "Prophesy": And the servants struck Him with the palms of their hands.

¹ Then in the morning without delay, the chief priests held a consultation with the elders and scribes and the whole council, and bound Jesus, carried Him away, and delivered Him to Pilate.

¹⁷ Then they clothed Him with purple, platted a crown of thorns, and put it around His head, ¹⁸ and began to salute Him, "Hail, King of the Jews!" ¹⁹ Then they smote Him on the head with a reed, and spat on Him, and bowing their knees worshiped Him. ²⁰ And when they had mocked Him, they took the purple off of Him, put His own clothes on Him, and led Him out to crucify Him.

⁶³ And the men who held Jesus mocked Him, and smote Him. ⁶⁴ And when they had blindfolded Him, they struck Him on the face, and asked Him, saying, "Prophesy, who is it that smote You?" ⁶⁵ And many other things they blasphemously spoke against Him.

¹ Then the whole multitude of them arose, and led Him to Pilate.

¹¹ Also Herod with his men of war disdained Him as nothing, mocked Him, arrayed Him in a gorgeous robe, and sent Him back to Pilate.

³⁵ And the people stood beholding. And the rulers also with them ridiculed Him, saying, "He saved others; let Him save Himself, if He is Christ, the chosen of God."

²² And when He had spoken this, one of the officers who stood by struck Jesus with the palm of his hand, saying, "Do You answer the high priest in this manner?"

²⁸ Then they led Jesus from Caiaphas to the hall of judgment: And it was early; but they themselves did not go into the judgment hall, lest they should be defiled; that they might yet eat the Passover.

³⁰ They answered and said to him, "If He were not a malefactor, we would not have delivered Him up to you."

³⁵ Pilate answered, "Am I a Jew? Your own nation and the chief priests have delivered You to me: What have You done?"

¹ Then Pilate therefore took Jesus, and scourged Him. ² And the soldiers platted a crown of thorns, and put it on His head, and they put a purple robe on Him, ³ And said, "Hail, King of the Jews!" And they smote Him with their hands. ⁴ Pilate therefore went forth again, and said to them, "Behold, I bring Him forth to you, that you may know that I find no fault in Him." ⁵ Then Jesus came forth, wearing the crown of thorns, and the purple robe. And Pilate said to them, "Behold the Man!"

²³ Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, you have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain:

¹³ The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified His Son Jesus; whom you delivered up, and denied Him in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let Him go.

⁶³ saying, "Sir, we remember that while He was still alive, that deceiver said, 'After three days I will rise again.'

⁷ saying, 'The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.' "

²¹ But we trusted that it was He which should have redeemed Israel: And besides all this, today is the third day since these things were done.

³ For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received, how Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; ⁴ and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

³² But they did not understand this saying, and were afraid to ask Him.

⁵⁰ Yet they did not understand the saying which He spoke to them.

⁴⁵ But they did not understand this saying, and it was hid from them, such that they did not perceive it: And they feared to ask Him about that saying.

²⁵ Then He said to them, "O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken:

⁴⁵ Then He opened their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,

⁶ Jesus spoke this parable to them: But they did not understand what the things were which He spoke to them.

¹⁶ His disciples did not understand these things at first: But when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things were written about Him, and that they had done these things to Him.

¹ "These things I have spoken to you, that you should not be offended. ² They shall put you out of the synagogues: Yes, the time is coming, that whoever kills you will think that he does service to God. ³ And these things they will do to you, because they have not known the Father, nor Me. ⁴ But these things I have told you, that when the time comes, you may remember that I told you of them. And these things I did not say to you at the beginning, because I was with you. ⁵ But now I go My way to Him that sent Me; and none of you asks Me, 'Where are You going?' ⁶ But because I have said these things to you, sorrow has filled your heart. ⁷ Nevertheless I tell you the truth; it is expedient for you that I go away: For if I do not go away, the Comforter will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you. ⁸ And when He has come, He will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: ⁹ Of sin, because they do not believe upon Me; ¹⁰ of righteousness, because I go to My Father, and you see Me no more; ¹¹ of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged. ¹² I still have many things to say to you, But you cannot bear them now. ¹³ Moreover when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth: For He shall not speak of Himself; but whatever He shall hear, that shall He speak: And He will show you things to come. ¹⁴ He shall glorify Me: For He shall receive of Mine, and shall show it to you. ¹⁵ All things that the Father has are Mine: Therefore I said, that He shall take of Mine, and shall show it to you. ¹⁶ A little while, and you shall not see Me: And again, a little while, and you shall see Me, because I go to the Father." ¹⁷ Then some of His disciples said among themselves, "What is this that He says to us, 'A little while, and you shall not see Me: And again, a little while, and you shall see Me'; and, 'because I go to the Father'?" ¹⁸ They said therefore, "What is this that He says, 'A little while'? We cannot understand what He says." ¹⁹ Now Jesus knew that they desired to ask Him, and said to them, "Do you inquire among yourselves about what I said, 'A little while, and you shall not see Me: And again, a little while, and you shall see Me'?

⁸ He raises up the poor out of the dust, and lifts up the beggar from the dunghill, to set them among princes, and to make them inherit the throne of glory: For the pillars of the earth are the LORD's, and He has set the world upon them.

²⁹ And as they departed from Jericho, a large multitude followed Him. ³⁰ And behold, two blind men sitting by the roadside, when they heard that Jesus was passing by, cried out, saying, "Have mercy on us, O Lord, Son of David." ³¹ And the multitude rebuked them, because they should hold their peace: But they cried out all the more, saying, "Have mercy on us, O Lord, Son of David." ³² Then Jesus stood still, and called them, and said, "What do you will that I do to you?" ³³ They said to Him, "Lord, that our eyes may be opened." ³⁴ So Jesus had compassion on them, and touched their eyes: And immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed Him.

⁴⁶ And they came to Jericho: Then as He went out of Jericho with His disciples and a large number of people, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the side of the highway begging. ⁴⁷ And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me." ⁴⁸ And many charged him that he should hold his peace: But he cried out a great deal more, "Son of David, have mercy on me." ⁴⁹ Then Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called. And they called the blind man, saying to him, "Be of good comfort, rise; He calls for you." ⁵⁰ And casting away his garment, he rose, and came to Jesus. ⁵¹ And Jesus answered and said to him, "What do you will that I should do to you?" The blind man said to Him, "Lord, that I may receive my sight." ⁵² Then Jesus said to him, "Go your way; your faith has made you whole." And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus on the road.

²⁰ Also there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, who was laid at his gate, full of sores, ²¹ and desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: Moreover, the dogs came and licked his sores.

¹ Then Jesus entered and passed through Jericho.

⁸ Therefore the neighbors, and those who had previously seen him, that he was blind, said, "Is not this he who sat and begged?"

² And a certain man lame from his mother's womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask charitable alms of those that entered into the temple;

¹⁰ And when He came into Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, "Who is this?" ¹¹ Moreover the multitude said, "This is Jesus the prophet from Nazareth of Galilee."

²⁶ Therefore he called one of the servants, and asked what these things meant.

²³ And he came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth: That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, "He shall be called a Nazarene."

¹ And after some days He entered again into Capernaum; and it was spread by report that He was in the house. ² And immediately many were gathered together, so that there was no room to receive them, no, not even near the door: And He preached the word to them. ³ Then they came to Him, bringing one sick of the palsy, who was carried by four men.

⁵¹ Then He went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and was subject to them: But His mother kept all these sayings in her heart.

⁴⁵ Philip found Nathanael, and said to him, "We have found Him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, wrote, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph."

³⁵ Then Jesus said to them, "A little while longer the light is with you. Walk while you have the light, lest darkness come upon you: For he who walks in darkness does not know where he goes. ³⁶ While you have light, believe in the light, that you may be the children of light." These things Jesus spoke, and departed, and hid Himself from them.

¹⁹ Now Pilate wrote a title, and put it on the cross. And the writing was, JESUS OF NAZARETH THE KING OF THE JEWS.

²² "You men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a Man approved by God among you by miracles, wonders, and signs, which God did by Him in the midst of you, as you yourselves also know:

¹⁰ let it be known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by Him does this man stand here before you whole.

² (For He said, "I have heard you in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation I have helped you": Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)

¹² Also to you, O Lord, belongs mercy: For you render to every man according to his work.

⁶ For to us a Child is born, to us a Son is given: And the government shall be upon His shoulder: And His name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. ⁷ Of the increase of His government and peace there shall be no end, on the throne of David, and on His kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from now on even forever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.

¹ And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots:

⁵ "Behold, the days come", said the LORD, "that I will raise to David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth.

²⁷ And when Jesus departed from there, two blind men followed Him, crying, and saying, "You, Son of David, have mercy on us."

²³ And all the people were amazed, and said, "Is this not the Son of David?"

²² And behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same borders, and cried to Him, saying, "Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil."

⁹ And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried out, saying: "Hosanna to the Son of David: Blessed is He that comes in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest."

¹⁵ But when the chief priests and scribes saw the wonderful things that He did, and the children crying in the temple, and saying, "Hosanna to the Son of David"; they were intensely displeased,

⁴² saying, "What do you think of Christ? Whose Son is He?" They said to Him, "The Son of David." ⁴³ He said to them, "How then does David in the Spirit call Him 'Lord', saying, ⁴⁴ "The LORD said to my Lord, 'sit at My right hand, until I make Your enemies Your footstool?' " ⁴⁵ If David then calls Him 'Lord', how is He his Son?"

³ concerning His Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh;

¹⁶ "I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you these things in the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, and the Bright and Morning Star."

²⁶ And he said, "Let me go, for the day breaks." And he said, "I will not let you go, unless you bless me." ²⁷ And he said to him, "What is your name?" And he said, "Jacob." ²⁸ And he said, "Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel: For as a prince you have power with God and with men, and have prevailed."Israel; that is, A prince of God

¹ A Psalm of David. LORD, I cry to You: Make haste to me; give ear to my voice, when I cry out to You.

¹² Then you shall call upon Me, and you shall go and pray to Me, and I will hearken to you. ¹³ And you shall seek Me, and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.

⁷ Ask, and it shall be given to you; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it shall be opened to you:

⁴⁰ Then He came to the disciples, and found them asleep, and said to Peter, "What, could you not watch with Me one hour? ⁴¹ Watch and pray, that you do not enter into temptation: The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak." ⁴² He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, "O My Father, if this cup may not pass away from Me, unless I drink it, Your will be done." ⁴³ And He came and found them asleep again; for their eyes were heavy. ⁴⁴ So He left them, went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words.

⁴⁹ While He was still speaking, there came one from the ruler of the synagogue's house, saying to him, "Your daughter is dead; do not trouble the Master."

⁸ I say to you, Though he will not rise and give to him because he is his friend, yet because of his pressing requests he will rise and give him as much as he needs. ⁹ So I say to you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it shall be opened to you. ¹⁰ For everyone that asks receives; and he that seeks finds; and to him that knocks it shall be opened.

⁵² Woe to you, lawyers! For you have taken away the key of knowledge: You did not enter in yourselves, and you hindered those that were entering in."

¹ Moreover He spoke a parable to them leading to this end, that men always ought to pray, and not to faint;

¹⁵ Also they brought infants to Him, that He would touch them: But when His disciples saw it, they rebuked them.

³⁸ Then he cried out, saying, "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me."

³⁹ And some of the Pharisees from among the multitude said to Him, "Master, rebuke Your disciples."

⁸ Concerning this thing I sought the Lord by entreaty three times, that it might depart from me.

⁵ In Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream by night: And God said, "Ask what I shall give you. ⁶ And Solomon said, "You have showed to your servant David my father great mercy, according to as he walked before you in truth, and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with you; and you have kept for him this great kindness, that you have given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day. ⁷ And now, O LORD my God, you have made your servant king instead of David my father: And I am but a little child: I do not know how to go out or come in. ⁸ And your servant is in the midst of your people which you have chosen, a great people, that cannot be numbered nor counted for multitude. ⁹ Give therefore your servant an understanding heart to judge your people, that I may discern between good and bad: For who is able to judge this your so great a people? ¹⁰ And the speech pleased the LORD, that Solomon had asked this thing. ¹¹ And God said to him, "Because you have asked this thing, and have not asked for yourself long life; neither have asked riches for yourself, nor have asked the life of your enemies; but have asked for yourself understanding to discern judgment; ¹² behold, I have done according to your words: Lo, I have given you a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like you before you, neither after you shall any arise like to you. ¹³ And I have also given you that which you have not asked, both riches, and honor: So that there shall not be any among the kings like to you all your days. ¹⁴ And if you will walk in my ways, to keep My statutes and My commandments, as your father David did walk, then I will lengthen your days. ¹⁵ And Solomon awoke; and behold, it was a dream. And he came to Jerusalem, and stood before the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and offered up burnt offerings, and offered peace offerings, and made a feast to all his servants.

²¹ And He said to her, "What do you desire?" She said to Him, "Grant that these two sons of mine may sit, the one on Your right hand, and the other on the left, in Your kingdom." ²² And Jesus answered and said, "You do not know what you ask. Are you able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?" They said to Him, "We are able."

²⁵ But if we hope for what we do not see, then we wait for it with patience.

⁹ For He spoke, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood fast.

²⁰ He sent His word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.

³ And Jesus put forth His hand, and touched him, saying, "I will: You, be clean." And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.

²² But Jesus turned himself around, and when He saw her, He said, "Daughter, be of good comfort; your faith has made you whole." And the woman was made whole from that hour.

²⁸ Then Jesus answered and said to her, "O woman, great is your faith: Be it to you even as you intend." And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.

⁵⁰ And He said to the woman, "Your faith has saved you; go in peace."

⁴⁸ And He said to her, "Daughter, be of good comfort: Your faith has made you whole; go in peace."

¹⁹ And said to him, "Arise, go your way: Your faith has made you whole."

² O LORD my God, I cried out to You, and You have healed me.

¹ A Psalm of David. Bless the LORD, O my soul; and all that is within me, bless His holy name. ² Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits: ³ Who forgives all your iniquities; Who heals all your diseases;

⁸ Oh that men would praise the LORD for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men!

²¹ Oh that men would praise the LORD for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men! ²² And let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and declare His works with rejoicing.

⁸ The LORD opens the eyes of the blind: The LORD raises those who are bowed down: The LORD loves the righteous:

¹⁸ And in that day the deaf shall hear the words of the book, and the eyes of the blind shall see out of obscurity, and out of darkness. ¹⁹ The meek shall also increase their joy in the LORD, and the poor among men shall rejoice in the Holy One of Israel.

⁵ Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped.

¹⁶ And I will bring the blind by a way that they did not know; I will lead them in paths that they have not known: I will make darkness become light before them, and crooked things straight. I will do these things to them, and not forsake them.

⁷ even everyone that is called by My name: For I have created him for My glory, I have formed him; yes, I have made him." ⁸ Bring forth the blind people that have eyes, and the deaf that have ears.

²¹ This people I have formed for Myself; they shall show {declare] forth My praise.

⁸ Now when the multitudes saw it, they marveled, and glorified God, which had given such power to men.

²⁸ And when He had come into the house, the blind men came to Him: And Jesus said to them, "Do you believe that I am able to do this?" They said to Him, "Yes, Lord." ²⁹ Then He touched their eyes, saying, "According to your faith be it done to you." ³⁰ And their eyes were opened; and Jesus strictly charged them, saying, "See that no man knows it."

⁵ The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them.

¹⁴ Then the blind and the lame came to Him in the temple; and He healed them.

³⁹ Therefore He stood over her, and rebuked the fever; and it left her: And immediately she arose and ministered to them.

²⁶ And they were all amazed, and they glorified God, and were filled with fear, saying, "We have seen strange things today."

¹⁷ And when He had said these things, all His adversaries were ashamed: And all the people rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by Him.

¹⁵ And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, returned, and with a loud voice glorified God, ¹⁶ and fell down on his face at His feet, giving Him thanks: And he was a Samaritan. ¹⁷ And Jesus responding said, "Were there not ten cleansed? But where are the nine? ¹⁸ There are not any found that returned to give glory to God, except this stranger."

³⁷ And when He was drawing near, even now at the descent of the Mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen;

⁵ As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world." ⁶ When He had spoken in this manner, He spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and He anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay; ⁷ and said to him, "Go, wash in the pool of Siloam" (which by interpretation is, Sent). Therefore he went his way, washed, and came back seeing.

³⁹ And Jesus said, "For judgment I have come into this world, that those which do not see might see; and that those which see might be made blind." ⁴⁰ Then some of the Pharisees who were with Him heard these words, and said to Him, "Are we blind also?"

²¹ So when they had further threatened them, they let them go, finding no way how they might punish them, because of the people: For all men glorified God for that which was done.

¹⁸ When they heard these things, they held their peace; and glorified God, saying, "Then God has also granted to the Gentiles repentance to life."

¹⁸ to open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith that is in Me.'

²⁴ And they glorified God in me.

¹⁰ when He shall come to be glorified in His saints, and to be admired in all those that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day. ¹¹ Therefore we also pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfill all the good pleasure of His goodness, and the work of faith with power: ¹² That the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and you in Him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

⁹ But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; that you should show forth the praises of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light:
