Why then did you not go down to your house? ¹¹ And Uriah said to David, "The ark, and Israel, and Judah, abide in tents; and my lord Joab, and the servants of my lord, are encamped in the open fields; shall I then go into my house, to eat and to drink, and to lie with my wife? As you live, and as your soul lives, I will not do this thing. ¹² And David said to Uriah, "Tarry here today also, and tomorrow I will let you depart. So Uriah stayed in Jerusalem that day, and the next day. ¹³ And when David had called him, he ate and drink before him; and he made him drunk: And at sunset he went out to lie on his bed with the servants of his lord, but not went down to his house.

¹² For you did it secretly: But I will do this thing before all Israel, and before the sun.

¹³ And you say, "How does God know? Can he judge through the dark cloud? ¹⁴ Thick clouds are a covering to him, that he sees not; and he walks in the circuit of heaven.

¹⁸ When you saw a thief, then you consented with him, and have been partaker with adulterers.

¹¹ And they say, "How does God know? And is there knowledge in the most High?"

⁷ Yet they say, "The LORD shall not see, nor shall the God of Jacob regard it."

³² But whoever commits adultery with a woman lacks understanding: He that does it destroys his own soul. ³³ He shall get a wound and dishonor; and his reproach shall not be wiped away. ³⁴ For jealousy is the rage of a man: Therefore he will not spare in the day of vengeance. ³⁵ He will not regard any ransom; neither will he rest content, though you give many gifts.

¹² Then He said to me, "Son of man, have you seen what the elders of the house of Israel do in the dark, every man in the chambers of his imagery? For they say, 'the LORD does not see us; the LORD has forsaken the earth.' "

⁹ Then said He to me, "The iniquity of the house of Israel and Judah is exceedingly great, and the land is full of blood, and the city full of perverseness: For they say, 'The LORD has forsaken the earth, and the LORD does not see.'
