¹ Man that is born of a woman is of few days and full of trouble. ² He comes forth like a flower, and is cut down: He flees also as a shadow, and continues not. ³ And does you open your eyes upon such an one, and bring me into judgment with you? ⁴ Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? Not one. ⁵ Seeing his days are determined, the number of his months are with you, you have appointed his bounds that he cannot pass; ⁶ turn from him, that he may rest, till he shall accomplish, as a hireling, his day. ⁷ For there is hope of a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that the tender branch of it will not cease. ⁸ Though its root wax old in the earth, and its stock die in the ground; ⁹ yet through the scent of water it will bud, and bring forth boughs like a plant. ¹⁰ But man dies, and wastes away: Yes, man gives up the ghost, and where is he? ¹¹ As the waters fail from the sea, and the flood decays and dries up: ¹² So man lies down, and rises not: Till heaven be no more, they shall not awake, nor be raised out of their sleep. ¹³ O that you would hide me in the grave, that you would keep me secret, until your wrath be past, that you would appoint me a set time, and remember me! ¹⁴ If a man die, shall he live again? All the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come. ¹⁵ You shall call, and I will answer you: You will have a desire to the work of your hands. ¹⁶ For now you number my steps: Do you not watch over my sin? ¹⁷ My transgression is sealed up in a bag, and you sew up my iniquity. ¹⁸ And surely the mountains falling comes to nothing, and the rock is removed out of his place. ¹⁹ The waters wear the stones: You wash away the things which grow out of the dust of the earth; and you destroy the hope of man. ²⁰ You prevail forever against him, and he passes: You change his countenance, and send him away. ²¹ His sons come to honor, and he knows it not; and they are brought low, but he perceives it not of them. ²² But his flesh on him shall have pain, and his soul within him shall mourn.

⁹ And Jacob said to Pharaoh, "The days of the years of my pilgrimage are a hundred and thirty years: Few and evil have been the days of the years of my life, and I have not attained to the days of the years of the life of my fathers in the days of their pilgrimage."

⁷ yet man is born to trouble, as the sparks fly upward.

¹ Is there not an appointed time to man on earth? Are not his days also like the days of a hireling?

⁶ My days are swifter than a weaver's shuttle, and are spent without hope.

²⁵ Now my days are swifter than a post: They flee away, they see no good.

¹⁴ What is man, that he should be clean? And he which is born of a woman, that he should be righteous?

⁴ How then can man be justified with God? Or how can he be clean that is born of a woman?

⁵ Behold, You have made my days as a hand-breadth; and my age is as nothing before you: Truly every man at his best state is altogether vanity. Selah.

⁵ Behold, I was shaped in iniquity; and in sin my mother conceived me.

¹⁷ Therefore I hated life; because the work that is worked under the sun is grievous to me: For all is vanity and vexation of spirit.

²³ For all his days are sorrows, and his labor grief; yes, his heart does not take rest in the night. This also is vanity.

¹¹ Truly I say to you, Among those that are born of women there has not risen one greater than John the Baptist: But he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than him.

¹⁵ For we are strangers before you, and sojourners, as were all our fathers: Our days on the earth are as a shadow, and there is none abiding.

⁹ (For we are but of yesterday, and know nothing, because our days on earth are a shadow):

²⁵ Now my days are swifter than a post: They flee away, they see no good. ²⁶ They are passed away as the swift ships: As the eagle that hastens to the prey.

⁵ You carry them away as with a flood; they are as a sleep: In the morning they are like grass which grows up. ⁶ In the morning it flourishes, and grows up; in the evening it is cut down, and withers. ⁷ For we are consumed by Your anger, and by Your wrath we are troubled. ⁸ You have set our iniquities before You, our secret sins in the light of Your countenance. ⁹ For all our days are passed away in Your wrath: We spend our years as a tale that is told.

⁷ When the wicked spring up as the grass, and when all the workers of iniquity flourish; it is that they shall be destroyed forever:

¹² The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree; he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.

¹¹ My days are like a shadow that declines; and I am withered like grass.

¹⁵ As for man, his days are as grass: As a flower of the field, so he flourishes. ¹⁶ For the wind passes over it, and it is gone; and the place where it was shall know it no more.

⁴ Man is likened to vanity: His days are as a shadow that passes away.

¹³ But it shall not be well with the wicked, neither shall he prolong his days, which are as a shadow; because he does not fear before God.

⁶ The voice said, "Cry." And he said, "What shall I cry? All flesh is grass, and all its goodliness is as the flower of the field: ⁷ The grass withers, the flower fades: Because the Spirit of the LORD blows upon it: Surely the people are grass. ⁸ The grass withers, the flower fades: But the word of our God shall stand forever."

¹⁰ But the rich, in that he is made low: Because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away. ¹¹ For the sun is no sooner risen with a burning heat, then it withers the grass, and the flower thereof falls, and the grace of its fashion perishes: So also shall the rich man fade away in his ways.

¹⁴ When in fact you all do not know what shall happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is indeed a vapor, that appears for a little while, and then vanishes away.

²⁴ For "All flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withers, and its flower falls away:

¹⁷ What is man, that you should magnify him? And that you should set your heart on him? ¹⁸ And that you should visit him every morning, and try him every moment?

¹⁹ If I speak of strength, see, he is strong: And if of judgment, who shall set me a time to plead? ²⁰ If I justify myself, my own mouth shall condemn me: If I say, "I am perfect, it shall also prove me perverse.

³² For he is not a man, as I am, that I should answer him, and we should come together in judgment.

²⁵ Will you break a leaf driven to and fro? And will you pursue the dry stubble?

²⁷ You put my feet also in the stocks, and look narrowly to all my paths; you set a print on the heels of my feet.

⁴ what is man, that You are mindful of him? And the son of man, that You visit him?

² And do not enter into judgment with Your servant: For in Your sight no man living shall be justified.

³ LORD, what is man, that You take knowledge of him! Or the son of man, that You think of him!

¹⁹ Now we know that whatever things the law says, it says to those who are under the law: That every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.

³ And Adam lived a hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness, after his image; and called his name Seth:

⁴ How then can man be justified with God? Or how can he be clean that is born of a woman? ⁵ Behold even to the moon, and it shines not; yes, the stars are not pure in his sight. ⁶ How much less man, that is a worm? And the son of man, which is a worm?

⁵ You carry them away as with a flood; they are as a sleep: In the morning they are like grass which grows up.

³⁵ And the angel answered and said to her, "The Holy Spirit shall come upon you, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow you: Therefore that Holy One which shall be born of you shall also be called the Son of God.

⁶ That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

¹² Therefore, just as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for all have sinned:

⁸ So then, those that are in the flesh cannot please God. ⁹ But you are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if as should be the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if any man does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is none of His.

³ Among whom we all also had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

¹⁰ In whose hand is the soul of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind.

¹⁴ If a man die, shall he live again? All the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come.

²¹ For what pleasure has he in his house after him, when the number of his months is cut off in the middle?

¹³ But he is in one mind, and who can turn him? And what his soul desires, even that he does. ¹⁴ For he performs the thing that is appointed for me: And many such things are with him.

⁴ LORD, make me to know my end, and the measure of my days, what it is; that I may know how frail I am.

⁹ You have set a bound that they may not pass over; that they do not turn again to cover the earth.

²⁹ You hide Your face, they are troubled: You take away their breath, they die, and return to their dust.

³⁵ And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: And He does according to His will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: And none can stay His hand, or say to Him, "What are You doing?"

²⁶ This is the interpretation of the thing: MENE; God has numbered your kingdom, and finished it.

³⁰ During that night Belshazzar the king of the Chaldeans was slain.

²⁴ Seventy weeks are determined upon your people and upon your holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the Most Holy.

³⁶ And the king shall do according to his will; and he shall exalt himself, and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak marvelous things against the God of gods, and shall prosper until the indignation is accomplished: For that which is determined shall be done.

²⁰ But God said to him, 'You fool, this night your soul shall be required of you: Then whose shall those things be, which you have provided?'

²⁶ and He has made from one blood all nations of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined the pre-appointed times, and the bounds of their habitation;

²⁷ And as it is appointed to men once to die, but after this the judgment:

¹⁸ I am He that lives, and was dead; and behold, I am alive forevermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.

⁷ "And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; 'These things says He that is holy, He that is true, "He that has the key of David, He that opens, and no man shuts; and shuts, and no man opens";

¹ Is there not an appointed time to man on earth? Are not his days also like the days of a hireling? ² As a servant earnestly desires the shadow, and as a hireling looks for the reward of his work:

¹⁶ I loathe it; I would not live always: Let me alone; for my days are vanity.

¹⁹ How long will you not depart from me, nor let me alone till I swallow down my spittle?

²⁰ Are not my days few? Cease then, and let me alone, that I may take comfort a little,

¹³ O spare me, that I may recover strength, before I go away, and am no more.

¹ "For the kingdom of heaven is likened to a man who is a householder, who went out early in the morning to hire laborers into his vineyard. ² And when he had agreed with the laborers for a silver coin a day, he sent them into his vineyard. ³ And he went out about the third hour, and saw others standing idle in the marketplace, ⁴ and said to them, 'You also go into the vineyard, and whatever is right I will give you.' And they went their way. ⁵ Again he went out about the sixth and ninth hour, and did likewise. ⁶ And about the eleventh hour he went out, and found others standing idle, and said to them, 'Why do you stand here idle all day?' ⁷ They said to him, 'Because no man has hired us.' He said to them, 'You also go into the vineyard; and whatever is right, that you shall receive.' ⁸ So when evening had come, the lord of the vineyard said to his steward, 'Call the laborers, and give them their wages, beginning from the last to the first.'

¹⁰ He has destroyed me on every side, and I am gone: And my hope has he removed like a tree.

¹ And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots:

⁶ He shall cause those that come of Jacob to take root: Israel shall blossom and bud, and fill the face of the world with fruit.

¹⁵ Nevertheless, leave the stump of his roots in the earth, even with a band of iron and brass, in the tender grass of the field; and let it be wet with the dew of heaven, and let his portion be with the beasts in the grass of the earth:

²³ And as the king saw a watcher and a holy one coming down from heaven, and saying, 'Hew the tree down, and destroy it; yet leave the stump of its roots in the earth, even with a band of iron and brass, in the tender grass of the field; and let it be wet with the dew of heaven, and let his portion be with the wild beasts of the field, until seven times pass over him;' ²⁴ This is the interpretation, O king, and this is the decree of the Most High, which has come upon my lord the king: ²⁵ That they shall drive you from men, and your dwelling shall be with the wild beasts of the field, and they shall make you to eat grass as oxen, and they shall wet you with the dew of heaven, and seven times shall pass over you, until you know that the Most High rules in the kingdom of men, and gives it to whomever He will.

¹⁹ Your dead men shall live, together with my dead body they shall arise. Awake and sing, you who dwell in dust: For your dew is as the dew of herbs, and the earth shall cast out the dead.

²⁴ Truly, truly, I say to you, Unless a kernel of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it abides alone: But if it dies, it brings forth much fruit.

³⁶ You fool, that which you sow is not made alive, unless it dies:

³ and say, 'Thus says the Lord GOD; "A great eagle with great wings, long winged, full of feathers, which had various colors, came to Lebanon, and took the highest branch of the cedar: ⁴ He cropped off the top of his young twigs, and carried it into a land of traffic; he set it in a city of merchants. ⁵ He also took of the seed of the land, and planted it in a fruitful field; he placed it by great waters, and set it as a willow tree. ⁶ And it grew, and became a spreading vine of low stature, whose branches turned toward him, and its roots were under him: So it became a vine, and brought forth branches, and shot forth sprigs. ⁷ There was also another great eagle with great wings and many feathers: And behold, this vine bent her roots toward him, and shot forth her branches toward him, that he might water it by the furrows of her plantation. ⁸ It was planted in a good soil by great waters, that it might bring forth branches, and that it might bear fruit, that it might be a goodly vine." ⁹ Say, 'Thus says the Lord GOD; "Shall it prosper? Shall He not pull up its roots, and cut off its fruit, that it wither? It shall wither in all the leaves of her spring, even without great power or many people to pluck it up by its roots. ¹⁰ Yes, behold, being planted, shall it prosper? Shall it not utterly wither, when the east wind touches it? It shall wither in the furrows where it grew." ' "

²² Thus says the Lord GOD; "I will also take of the highest branch of the high cedar, and will set it; I will crop off from the top of his young twigs a tender one, and will plant it on a high and eminent mountain: ²³ I plant it on the mountain of the height of Israel: And it shall bring forth boughs, and bear fruit, and be a goodly cedar: And under it shall dwell all fowl of every wing; in the shadow of its branches they they dwell. ²⁴ And all the trees of the field shall know that I the LORD have brought down the high tree, have exalted the low tree, have dried up the green tree, and have made the dry tree to flourish: I the LORD have spoken and have done it."

¹⁰ Your mother is like a vine in your blood, planted by the waters: She was fruitful and full of branches by reason of many waters.

¹⁷ And if some of the branches were broken off, and you, being a wild olive tree, were grafted in among them, and with them partake of the root and fatness of the olive tree; ¹⁸ do not boast against the branches. But if you do boast, you do not support the root, but the root supports you. ¹⁹ You will say then, "The branches were broken off, that I might be grafted in." ²⁰ Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and you stand by faith. Do not be highminded, but fear: ²¹ For if God did not spare the natural branches, take heed lest He also not spare you. ²² Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: On those who fell, severity; but toward you, goodness, if you continue in His goodness: Otherwise you also shall be cut off. ²³ And they also, if they do not still abide in unbelief, shall be grafted in: For God is able to graft them in again. ²⁴ For if you were cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature, and were grafted contrary to nature into a good olive tree: How much more shall these, which are the natural branches, be grafted into their own olive tree?

³³ And when Jacob had made an end of commanding his sons, he gathered up his feet into the bed, and yielded up the ghost, and was gathered to his people.

¹¹ Why died I not from the womb? Why did I not give up the ghost when I came out of the belly?

⁷ O remember that my life is wind: My eye shall no more see good. ⁸ The eye of him that has seen me shall see me no more: Your eyes are on me, and I am not. ⁹ As the cloud is consumed and vanishes away: So he that goes down to the grave shall come up no more. ¹⁰ He shall return no more to his house, neither shall his place know him any more.

¹⁸ Why then have you brought me forth out of the womb? Oh that I had given up the ghost, and no eye had seen me!

²⁰ But the eyes of the wicked shall fail, and they shall not escape, and their hope shall be as the giving up of the ghost.

¹² So man lies down, and rises not: Till heaven be no more, they shall not awake, nor be raised out of their sleep.

¹³ If I wait, the grave is my house: I have made my bed in the darkness. ¹⁴ I have said to corruption, You are my father: To the worm, You are my mother, and my sister. ¹⁵ And where is now my hope? As for my hope, who shall see it? ¹⁶ They shall go down to the bars of the pit, when our rest together is in the dust.

²⁶ And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God:

³² The wicked is driven away in his wickedness: But the righteous has hope in his death.

⁵⁰ Jesus, when He had cried out again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost.

²² And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: The rich man also died, and was buried; ²³ And in hell he lifted up his eyes, being in torments, and saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.

¹⁰ Then she fell down immediately at his feet, and yielded up the ghost: And the young men came in, and found her dead, and carrying her forth, buried her by her husband.

¹⁵ My brothers have dealt deceitfully as a brook, and as the stream of brooks they pass away; ¹⁶ which are blackish by reason of the ice, and in which the snow is hid: ¹⁷ What time they wax warm, they vanish: When it is hot, they are consumed out of their place. ¹⁸ The paths of their way are turned aside; they go to nothing, and perish.

⁵ And the waters from the sea shall fail, and the river shall be wasted and dried up.

¹⁸ Why is my pain perpetual, and my wound incurable, which refuses to be healed? Will You be altogether as a liar to me, and like waters that fail?

¹³ For now should I have lain still and been quiet, I should have slept: Then had I been at rest,

²¹ And why do you not pardon my transgression, and take away my iniquity? For now shall I sleep in the dust; and you shall seek me in the morning, but I shall not be.

²¹ before I go from where I shall not return, even to the land of darkness and the shadow of death; ²² A land of darkness, as darkness itself; and of the shadow of death, without any order, and where the light is as darkness.

²⁵ For I know that my redeemer lives, and that he shall stand at the latter day on the earth: ²⁶ And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God: ²⁷ Whom I shall see for myself, and my eyes shall behold, and not another; though my reins be consumed within me.

²³ For I know that you will bring me to death, and to the house appointed for all living.

²⁶ They shall perish, but You shall endure: Yes, all of them shall wax old like a garment; as a vesture You shall change them, and they shall be changed:

¹⁹ For that which befalls the sons of men befalls beasts; even one thing befalls them: As the one dies, so dies the other; yes, they all have one breath; so that a man has no preeminence above a beast: For all is vanity. ²⁰ All go to one place; all are of the dust, and all turn to dust again. ²¹ Who knows the spirit of man that goes upward, and the spirit of the beast that goes downward to the earth?

⁵ also when they shall be afraid of that which is high, and fears shall be in the way, and the almond tree shall flourish, and the grasshopper shall be a burden, and desire shall fail: Because man goes to his long home, and the mourners go about the streets:

⁶ Lift up your eyes to heaven, and look upon the earth beneath: For heaven shall vanish away like smoke, and the earth shall wax old like a garment, and they who dwell in it shall die in like manner: But My salvation shall be forever, and My righteousness shall not be abolished.

¹⁷ For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: And the former shall not be remembered, nor come to mind.

²² "For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before Me", said the LORD, "so shall your seed and your name remain.

² And many of those that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.

³⁵ Heaven and earth shall pass away: But My words shall not pass away.

¹¹ He said these things: And after that He said to them, "Our friend Lazarus sleeps; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep." ¹² Then His disciples said, "Lord, if he sleeps, he shall be fine." ¹³ However, Jesus spoke of his death: But they thought that He had spoken of taking rest in sleep.

²¹ Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God has spoken by the mouth of all His holy prophets since the world began.

²⁰ For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of Him who has subjected the same in hope,

¹⁴ Therefore He says: "Awake, you that sleep, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give you light."

¹⁴ For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those which are also deceased in Jesus. ¹⁵ For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord shall not precede those which are deceased.

⁷ But the heavens and the earth, which are now kept in store by the same word, are reserved for fire until the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.

¹⁰ But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also, and the works that are in it shall be burned up. ¹¹ Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you be in all holy conversation and godliness, ¹² looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, in which the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? ¹³ Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells.

¹¹ And I saw a great white throne, and Him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.

¹ And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: For the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.

¹ And God remembered Noah, and every living thing, and all the domestic beasts that were with him in the ark: And God made a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters assuaged;

¹⁷ There the wicked cease from troubling; and there the weary be at rest. ¹⁸ There the prisoners rest together; they hear not the voice of the oppressor. ¹⁹ The small and great are there; and the servant is free from his master.

⁴ Remember me, O LORD, with the favor that you bring forth to Your people: O visit me with Your salvation;

¹ And in that day you shall say, "O LORD, I will praise You: Though You were angry with me, Your anger is turned away, and You comforted me.

²⁰ Come, My people, enter into your chambers, and shut your doors behind you: Hide yourself as it were for a little moment, until the indignation pass over. ²¹ For, behold, the LORD comes out of His place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity: The earth also shall disclose her blood, and will no longer cover her slain.

¹ The righteous perishes, and no man takes it to heart: And merciful men are taken away, none considering that the righteous is taken away from the evil to come. ² He shall enter into peace: They shall rest in their beds, each one walking in his uprightness.

³² But of that day and that hour no man knows, no, not the angels which are in heaven, nor the Son, but the Father.

⁴² Then he said to Jesus, "Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom."

⁷ And He said to them, "It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father has put under His own power.

³¹ Because He has appointed a day, in which He will judge the world in righteousness by that Man whom He has ordained; of which He has given assurance to all men, in that He has raised Him from the dead."

¹⁵ Though he slay me, yet I will trust in him: But I will maintain my own ways before him.

¹⁴ Wait on the LORD: Be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart: Wait, I say, "on the LORD.

¹ To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. I waited patiently for the LORD; and He inclined to me, and heard my cry. ² He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings forth.

²⁵ The LORD is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks Him. ²⁶ It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD.

¹ The hand of the LORD was on me, and carried me out in the Spirit of the LORD, and set me down in the middle of the valley which was full of bones, ² and caused me to pass by them roundabout: And behold, there were very many in the open valley; and lo, they were very dry. ³ And He said to me, "Son of man, can these bones live?" And I answered, "O Lord GOD, you know." ⁴ Again He said to me, "Prophesy upon these bones, and say to them, 'O all you dry bones, hear the word of the LORD. ⁵ Thus says the Lord GOD to these bones; "Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and you shall live: ⁶ And I will lay sinews on you, and will bring up flesh upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and you shall live; and you shall know that I am the LORD." ' " ⁷ So I prophesied as I was commanded: And as I prophesied, there was a noise, and behold a shaking, and the bones came together, bone to his bone. ⁸ And when I beheld, lo, the sinews and the flesh came upon them, and the skin covered them above: But there was no breath in them. ⁹ Then He said to me, "Prophesy to the wind, prophesy, son of man, and say to the wind, 'Thus says the Lord GOD; "Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe on these slain, that they may live." ' " ¹⁰ So I prophesied as He commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived, and stood up on their feet, an exceeding great army. ¹¹ Then He said to me, "Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel: Behold, they say, 'Our bones are dried, and our hope is lost: We are cut off for our parts. ¹² Therefore prophesy and say to them, 'Thus says the Lord GOD; "Behold, O My people, I will open your graves, and cause you to come up out of your graves, and bring you into the land of Israel. ¹³ And you shall know that I am the LORD, when I have opened your graves, O My people, and brought you up out of your graves, ¹⁴ and shall put My spirit in you, and you shall live, and I shall place you in your own land: Then you shall know that I the LORD have spoken it, and performed it", said the LORD.' "

²⁹ Jesus answered and said to them, "You are mistaken, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God. ³⁰ For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven. ³¹ But concerning the resurrection of the dead, have you not read that which was spoken to you by God, saying, ³² 'I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob'? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living."

²⁸ Do not marvel at this: For the hour is coming, in which all that are in the graves shall hear His voice, ²⁹ and shall come forth; those that have done good, to the resurrection of life; and those that have done evil, to the resurrection of damnation.

⁸ Why should it be thought an incredible thing by you that God should raise the dead?

⁴² So also is the resurrection of the dead. The body is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption: ⁴³ It is sown in dishonor; it is raised in glory: It is sown in weakness; it is raised in power: ⁴⁴ It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.

⁵¹ Behold, I show you a mystery; we shall not all decease, but we shall all be changed, ⁵² in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: For the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

²¹ Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able to even subdue all things to Himself.

¹⁴ For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those which are also deceased in Jesus. ¹⁵ For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord shall not precede those which are deceased. ¹⁶ For the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: And the dead in Christ shall rise first.

⁷ Therefore be patient, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. Behold, the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, and has long patience for it, until he receives the early and latter rain. ⁸ You also be patient; establish your hearts: For the coming of the Lord draws near.

¹³ And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead that were in them: And they were judged, every man according to their works.

³ Is it good to you that you should oppress, that you should despise the work of your hands, and shine on the counsel of the ungodly?

⁸ Your hands have made me and fashioned me together all around; yet you do destroy me.

²² Then call you, and I will answer: Or let me speak, and answer you me.

⁴ He shall call to the heavens from above, and to the earth, that He may judge His people. ⁵ "Gather My saints together to Me; those that have made a covenant with Me by sacrifice."

⁸ The LORD will perfect that which concerns me: Your mercy, O LORD, endures forever: Do not forsake the works of Your own hands.

¹⁷ Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: And so shall we be with the Lord evermore.

¹⁹ Therefore let those that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to Him in well doing, as to a faithful Creator.

²⁸ And now, little children, abide in Him; that when He appears, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before Him at His coming.

⁶ that you enquire after my iniquity, and search after my sin?

¹⁴ If I sin, then you mark me, and you will not acquit me from my iniquity.

⁴ Does not he see my ways, and count all my steps?

¹¹ he puts my feet in the stocks, he marks all my paths.

²¹ For his eyes are on the ways of man, and he sees all his goings.

⁶ They gather themselves together, they hide themselves, they mark my steps, when they wait for my soul.

¹ To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David. O LORD, You have searched me, and known me. ² You know my sitting down and my rising up; You understand my thoughts afar off. ³ You compass my path and my lying down, and are acquainted with all my ways, ⁴ for there is not a word in my tongue, but lo, O LORD, You know it altogether.

²¹ For the ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, and He ponders all his goings.

¹⁹ great in counsel, and mighty in work: For Your eyes are open on all the ways of the sons of men: To give every one according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings:

³⁴ Is not this laid up in store with me, and sealed up among my treasures?

¹⁹ God lays up his iniquity for his children: He rewards him, and he shall know it.

¹² The iniquity of Ephraim is bound up; his sin is hid.

⁴ He tears himself in his anger: Shall the earth be forsaken for you? And shall the rock be removed out of his place?

²⁵ Of old You have laid the foundation of the earth: And the heavens are the work of Your hands. ²⁶ They shall perish, but You shall endure: Yes, all of them shall wax old like a garment; as a vesture You shall change them, and they shall be changed:

¹² Who has measured the waters in the hollow of His hand, and meted out heaven with the span, and comprehended the dust of the earth in a measure, and weighed the mountains in scales, and the hills in a balance?

¹⁵ Behold, I will make you a new sharp threshing instrument having teeth: You shall thresh the mountains, and beat them small, and shall make the hills as chaff. ¹⁶ You shall fan them, and the wind shall carry them away, and the whirlwind shall scatter them: And you shall rejoice in the LORD, and shall glory in the Holy One of Israel.

¹⁰ For the mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed; but My kindness shall not depart from you, neither shall the covenant of My peace be removed", said the LORD who has mercy on you.

¹ Oh that You would rend heaven, that You would come down, that the mountains might flow down at Your presence,

²⁴ I beheld the mountains, and lo, they trembled, and all the hills moved lightly.

⁵¹ Then, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from the top to the bottom; and the earth quaked, and the rocks fissured open;

¹⁴ And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places.

⁸ Then the second angel sounded, and with all speed a great mountain burning with fire was cast into the sea: And one third of the sea became blood;

¹⁷ And behold, I, even I, am bringing a flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh, in which is the breath of life, from under heaven; and every thing that is in the earth shall die.

²¹ And all flesh that moved upon the earth died, both of fowl, and of domestic beast, and of wild beast, and of every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth, and every man: ²² All in whose nostrils was the breath of life, of all that were on the dry land, died. ²³ And every living substance was destroyed which was upon the face of the ground, both man, and domestic beasts, and the creeping things, and the fowl of the heaven; and they were destroyed from the earth: And only Noah remained alive, and those that were with him in the ark.

⁸ For what is the hope of the hypocrite, though he has gained, when God takes away his soul?

⁶ And in my prosperity I said, "I shall never be moved." ⁷ LORD, by Your favor You have made my mountain to stand strong: You hid Your face, and I was troubled.

¹¹ Then He said to me, "Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel: Behold, they say, 'Our bones are dried, and our hope is lost: We are cut off for our parts.

¹⁹ And I will say to my soul, "Soul, you have a great many goods laid up for many years; take your ease, eat, drink, and be merry." ' ²⁰ But God said to him, 'You fool, this night your soul shall be required of you: Then whose shall those things be, which you have provided?'

¹² And when they lifted up their eyes afar off, and knew him not, they lifted up their voice, and wept; and they rent every one his mantle, and sprinkled dust upon their heads toward heaven.

⁸ There is no man who has power over the spirit to retain the spirit; neither does he have power in the day of death: And there is no discharge from that war; neither shall wickedness deliver those who are given to it.

⁸ Their visage is blacker than a coal; they are not known in the streets: Their skin sticks to their bones; it is withered, it has become like a stick.

²⁰ And about the time of her death the women that stood by her said to her, "Fear not, for you have borne a son." But she did not answer, neither did she regard it.

⁶ Surely every man walks in a vain show: Surely they are disquieted in vain: He heaps up riches, and does not know who shall gather them.

¹⁸ Yes, I hated all my labor in which I toiled under the sun: Because I should leave it to the man that shall be after me. ¹⁹ And who knows whether he shall be a wise man or a fool? Yet he shall have rule over all my labor in which I have labored, and in which I have showed myself wise under the sun. This also is vanity.

⁵ For the living know that they shall die: But the dead do not know anything, neither do they have any more reward; for the memory of them is forgotten.

⁷ And of your sons that shall issue from you, which you shall beget, they shall take away; and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon." ⁸ Then Hezekiah said to Isaiah, "Good is the word of the LORD which you have spoken." He said moreover, "For there shall be peace and truth in my days."

¹⁶ Doubtless You are our father, though Abraham be ignorant of us, and Israel does not acknowledge us: You, O LORD, are our Father, our Redeemer; Your name is from everlasting.

²⁰ My bone sticks to my skin and to my flesh, and I am escaped with the skin of my teeth.

²² Why do you persecute me as God, and are not satisfied with my flesh?

¹⁹ He is chastened also with pain on his bed, and the multitude of his bones with strong pain: ²⁰ So that his life abhors bread, and his soul dainty meat. ²¹ His flesh is consumed away, that it cannot be seen; and his bones that were not seen stick out.

²³ And in hell he lifted up his eyes, being in torments, and saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. ²⁴ Then he cried and said, 'Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.'
