Habakkuk Cross References - TKJU

1 The burden which Habakkuk the prophet saw. 2 O LORD, how long shall I cry, and You will not hear? I even cry out to You on account of violence, and You will not save! 3 Why do You show me iniquity, and cause me to behold grievance? For spoiling and violence are before me: And there are things that raise up strife and contention. 4 Therefore the law is slacked, and judgment never goes forth: For the wicked compass around the righteous; therefore wrong judgment proceeds. 5 "Behold among the heathen, and regard, and wonder marvelously, all of you: For I will work a feat in your days, which you all will not believe, though it is told to you. 6 For lo, I raise up the Chaldeans, that bitter and hasty nation, which shall march through the breadth of the land, to possess the dwelling places that are not their's. 7 They are terrible and dreadful: Their judgment and their dignity shall proceed from themselves. 8 Their horses are also swifter than the leopards, and are more fierce than the evening wolves: And their horsemen shall spread themselves, and their horsemen shall come from afar; they shall fly as the eagle that hastens to eat. 9 They shall all come for violence: Their faces shall sup up as the east wind, and they shall gather the captivity as the sand. 10 And they shall scoff at the kings, and the princes shall be a scorn to them: They shall deride every stronghold; for they shall heap dust, and take it. 11 Then his mind shall change, and he shall pass over, and offend, imputing his power to his god." 12 Are You not from everlasting, O LORD my God, my Holy One? We shall not die. O LORD, You have ordained them for judgment; and, O mighty God, You have established them for correction. 13 You are of purer eyes than to behold evil, and cannot look on iniquity: Why do You look upon those that deal treacherously, and hold Your tongue when the wicked devours the man that is more righteous than he? 14 And make men as the fish of the sea, as the creeping things, that have no ruler over them? 15 They take all of them up with the hook, they catch them in their net, and gather them in their dragnet: Therefore they rejoice and are glad. 16 Therefore they sacrifice to their net, and burn incense to their dragnet; because by them their portion is fat, and their meat plenteous. 17 Shall they therefore empty their net, and not spare to continually slay the nations?

How long? And woe to him that lades himself with thick clay!'? 7 Shall they not rise up suddenly that will bite you, and awake that shall vex you, and you shall be for booty to them? 8 Because you have spoiled many nations, all the remnant of the people shall spoil you; because of men's blood, and for the violence of the land, of the city, and of all that dwell in it. 9 Woe to him that covets an evil covetousness to establish his house, that he may set his nest on high, that he may be delivered from the power of evil! 10 You have consulted shame to establish your house by cutting off many people, and have sinned against your soul. 11 For the stone shall cry out of the wall, and the beam out of the timber shall answer it. 12 Woe to him that builds a town with blood, and establishes a city by iniquity! 13 Behold, is it not of the LORD of hosts that the people shall labor in the very fire, and the people shall weary themselves in quest of much vanity?

13 The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified His Son Jesus; whom you delivered up, and denied Him in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let Him go. 14 But you denied the Holy One and the Just, and desired a murderer to be granted to you; 15 and killed the Prince of life, whom God has raised from the dead; of which we are witnesses.

1 Peter 1:15-16

15 But as He which has called you is holy, so likewise you be holy in all manner of conversation; 16 because it is written, "Be holy; for I am holy."

Isaiah 19:8

8 The fishers shall also mourn, and all those who cast angle into the brooks shall lament, and those that spread nets on the waters shall languish.

Jeremiah 16:16

16 Behold, I will send for many fishers", said the LORD, "and they shall fish them; and afterwards I will send for many hunters, and they shall hunt them from every mountain, and from every hill, and out of the holes of the rocks.

Jeremiah 50:11

11 "Because you were glad, because you rejoiced, O you destroyers of My heritage, because you have grown fat like a heifer in the grass, and bellow like bulls;

Lamentations 2:15-16

15 All who pass by clap their hands at you; they hiss and wag their head at the daughter of Jerusalem, saying, "Is this the city that men call 'The perfection of beauty, The joy of the whole earth'?" 16 All your enemies have opened their mouth against you: They hiss and gnash the teeth: They say, "We have swallowed her up: Certainly this is the day that we looked for; we have found, we have seen it."

Ezekiel 25:6

6 For thus says the Lord GOD; "Because you have clapped your hands, and stamped with the feet, and rejoiced in heart with all your spite against the land of Israel;

Ezekiel 29:4-5

4 But I will put hooks in your jaws, and I will cause the fish of your rivers to stick to your scales, and I will bring you up out of the midst of your rivers, and all the fish of your rivers shall stick to your scales. 5 And I will leave you thrown into the wilderness, you and all the fish of your rivers: You shall fall upon the open fields; you shall not be brought together, nor gathered: I have given you to the wild beasts of the field and to the fowls of the heaven for meat.

Ezekiel 35:15

15 As you rejoiced at the inheritance of the house of Israel, because it was desolate, so I will do to you: You shall be desolate, O Mount Seir, and all Idumea, even all of it: And they shall know that I am the LORD." ' "

Amos 4:2

2 The Lord GOD has sworn by His holiness, that, lo, the days shall come upon you, that He will take you away with hooks, and your posterity with fishhooks.

Matthew 17:27

27 Notwithstanding, lest we should offend them, go to the sea, and cast a hook, and take up the fish that first comes up; and when you have opened his mouth, you shall find a piece of money: Take that, and give it to them for Me and you."

Luke 5:5-10

5 And Simon answering said to Him, "Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: Nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net." 6 And when they had done this, they inclosed a great multitude of fish: And their net broke. 7 Therefore they beckoned to their partners, which were in the other ship, that they should come and help them. And they came, and filled both the ships, so that they began to sink. 8 When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, "Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord." 9 For he was astonished, and all who were with him, at the draw of the fish which they had taken: 10 And so also were James, and John, the sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, "Do not fear; from this time forward you shall catch men."

John 21:6-11

6 And He said to them, "Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and you shall find some." Therefore they casted, and now they were not able to draw it in because of the multitude of fish. 7 Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, "It is the Lord." Now when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his fisherman's coat (for he was naked), and cast himself into the sea. 8 And the other disciples came in a little ship; (for they were not far from land, but about two hundred cubits), dragging the net with fish.200 Roman cubits is approximately 290 feet or 88.4 meters. 9 Then, as soon as they had come to land, they saw a fire of coals there, and fish laid upon it, and bread. 10 Jesus said to them, "Bring some of the fish which you have now caught." 11 Simon Peter went up, and drew the net to land full of large fish, one hundred and fifty three: And although there were so many, yet the net was not broken.

Isaiah 10:13-15

13 For he said, "By the strength of my hand I have done it, and by my wisdom; for I am prudent: And I have removed the bounds of the people, and have robbed their treasures, and I have put down the inhabitants like a valiant man: 14 And my hand has found as a nest the riches of the people: And as one gathers eggs that are left, have I gathered all the earth; and there was none that moved the wing, or opened the mouth, or peeped." 15 Shall the ax boast itself against him who chops with it? Or shall the saw magnify itself against him that shakes it? As if the rod should shake itself against those that lift it up, or as if the staff should lift itself up, as if it were not wood.

Isaiah 37:24

24 By your servants you have reproached the Lord, and have said, "By the multitude of my chariots I have come up to the height of the mountains, to the sides of Lebanon; and I will cut down the tall cedars of it, and its choice fir trees: And I will enter into the height of his border, and the forest of his Carmel.

Jeremiah 25:9-26

9 behold, I will send and take all the families of the north', said the LORD, 'and Nebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon, My servant, and will bring them against this land, and against its inhabitants, and against all these nations all around, and will utterly destroy them, and make them an astonishment, and a hissing, and perpetual desolations. 10 Moreover I will take from them the voice of mirth, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride, the sound of the millstones, and the light of the candle. 11 And this whole land shall be a desolation, and an astonishment; and these nations shall serve the king of Babylon seventy years. 12 And it shall come to pass, when seventy years are accomplished, that I will punish the king of Babylon, and that nation', said the LORD, 'for their iniquity, and the land of the Chaldeans, and will make it perpetual desolations. 13 And I will bring on that land all My words which I have pronounced against it, even all that is written in this book, which Jeremiah has prophesied against all the nations. 14 For many nations and great kings shall reduce them to subjection also: And I will recompense them according to their deeds, and according to the works of their own hands.' " 15 For thus says the LORD God of Israel to me; "Take the wine cup of this fury at My hand, and cause all the nations, to whom I send you, to drink it. 16 And they shall drink, and be moved, and be mad, because of the sword that I will send among them." 17 Then I took the cup at the LORD's hand, and made all the nations to drink, to whom the LORD had sent me: 18 To wit, Jerusalem, and the cities of Judah, and her kings, and her princes, to make them a desolation, an astonishment, a hissing, and a curse; as it is this day; 19 pharaoh king of Egypt, and his servants, and his princes, and all his people; 20 and all the mingled people, and all the kings of the land of Uz, and all the kings of the land of the Philistines, and Ashkelon, and Azzah, and Ekron, and the remnant of Ashdod, 21 edom, and Moab, and the children of Ammon, 22 and all the kings of Tyrus, and all the kings of Zidon, and the kings of the isles which are beyond the sea, 23 dedan, and Tema, and Buz, and all that are in the utmost corners, 24 and all the kings of Arabia, and all the kings of the mingled people that dwell in the desert, 25 and all the kings of Zimri, and all the kings of Elam, and all the kings of the Medes, 26 and all the kings of the north, far and near, one with another, and all the kingdoms of the world, which are on the face of the earth: And the king of Sheshach shall drink after them.

Jeremiah 46:1-28

1 The word of the LORD which came to Jeremiah the prophet against the Gentiles; 2 against Egypt, against the army of Pharaohnecho king of Egypt, which was by the river Euphrates in Carchemish, which Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon smote in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah. 3 "Order the buckler and shield, and draw near to battle. 4 Harness the horses; and get up you horsemen, and stand forth with your helmets; furbish the spears, and put on the body armor. 5 Why have I seen them dismayed and turned back away? And their mighty ones are beaten down, and have fled quickly, and do not look back: For fear was all around", said the LORD. 6 "Do not let the swift flee away, nor the mighty man escape; they shall stumble, and fall toward the north by the river Euphrates. 7 Who is this who comes up as a flood, whose waters are moved as the rivers? 8 Egypt rises up like a flood, and his waters are moved like the rivers; and he said, 'I will go up, and will cover the earth; I will destroy the city and its inhabitants.' 9 Come up, you horses; and rage, you chariots; and let the mighty men come forth; the Ethiopians and the Libyans, who handle the shield; and the Lydians, who handle and bend the bow. 10 For this is the day of the Lord GOD of hosts, a day of vengeance, that He may avenge Him of his adversaries: And the sword shall devour, and it shall be satiate and made drunk with their blood: For the Lord GOD of hosts has a sacrifice in the north country by the river Euphrates. 11 Go up into Gilead, and take balm, O virgin, the daughter of Egypt: In vain you shall use many medicines; for you shall not be cured. 12 The nations have heard of your shame, and your cry has filled the land: For the mighty man has stumbled against the mighty, and they have both fallen together." 13 The word that the LORD spoke to Jeremiah the prophet, how Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon should come and smite the land of Egypt. 14 "Declare in Egypt, and publish in Migdol, and publish in Noph and in Tahpanhes: Say you, 'Stand fast, and prepare yourselves; for the sword shall devour all around you.' 15 Why are your valiant men swept away? They did not stand because the LORD drove them away. 16 He made many fall, yes, one fell on another: And they said, 'Arise, and let us go again to our own people, and to the land of our nativity, from the oppressing sword.' 17 They cried there, 'Pharaoh king of Egypt is but a noise; he has passed the appointed time.' 18 "As I live", said the King, whose name is the LORD of hosts, "Surely as Tabor is among the mountains, and as Carmel by the sea, so shall he come. 19 O you daughter dwelling in Egypt, furnish yourself to go into captivity: For Noph shall be waste and desolate without an inhabitant. 20 Egypt is like a very fair heifer, but destruction comes; it comes out of the north. 21 Also her hired men are in the midst of her like fattened bulls; for they are also turned back, and have fled away together: They did not stand, because the day of their calamity had come on them, and the time of their visitation. 22 The sound of it is like a serpent as it goes; for they shall march with an army, and come against her with axes, as hewers of wood. 23 They shall cut down her forest', said the LORD, 'though it cannot be searched; because they are more than the grasshoppers, and are innumerable.' 24 The daughter of Egypt shall be confounded; she shall be delivered into the hand of the people of the north. 25 The LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, said; "Behold, I will punish the multitude of No, and Pharaoh, and Egypt, with their gods, and their kings; even Pharaoh, and all those who trust in him: 26 And I will deliver them into the hand of those who seek their lives, and into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and into the hand of his servants: And afterward it shall be inhabited, as in the days of old", said the LORD. 27 "But do not fear, O My servant Jacob, and do not be dismayed, O Israel: For, behold, I will save you from afar off, and your seed from the land of their captivity; and Jacob shall return, and be in rest and at ease, and none shall make him afraid. 28 Do not fear, O Jacob My servant", said the LORD: "for I am with you; for I will make a full end of all the nations where I have driven you: But I will not make a full end of you, but correct you in measure; yet I will not leave you wholly unpunished."

Jeremiah 52:1-34

1 Zedekiah was one and twenty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Hamutal the daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah. 2 And he did that which was evil in the eyes of the LORD, according to all that Jehoiakim had done. 3 For through the anger of the LORD it came to pass in Jerusalem and Judah, until He had cast them out from His presence, that Zedekiah rebelled against the king of Babylon. 4 And it came to pass in the ninth year of his reign, in the tenth month, on the tenth day of the month, that Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon came against Jerusalem, he and all his army, and pitched against it, and built forts against it on every side. 5 So the city was besieged to the eleventh year of king Zedekiah. 6 And in the fourth month, on the ninth day of the month, the famine was severe in the city, so that there was no bread for the people of the land. 7 Then the city was broken up, and all the men of war fled, and went forth out of the city by night by the way of the gate between the two walls, which was by the king's garden; (now the Chaldeans were by the city on all sides): And they went by the way of the plain. 8 But the army of the Chaldeans pursued after the king, and overtook Zedekiah in the plains of Jericho; and all his army was scattered from him. 9 Then they took the king, and carried him up to the king of Babylon to Riblah in the land of Hamath; where he gave judgment on him. 10 And the king of Babylon slew the sons of Zedekiah before his eyes: He also slew all the princes of Judah in Riblah. 11 Then he put out the eyes of Zedekiah; and the king of Babylon bound him in chains, and carried him to Babylon, and put him in prison until the day of his death. 12 Now in the fifth month, on the tenth day of the month, which was the nineteenth year of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, Nebuzaradan, captain of the guard, who served the king of Babylon, came into Jerusalem, 13 and burned the house of the LORD, and the king's house; and all the houses of Jerusalem, and all the houses of the great men, he burned with fire: 14 And all the army of the Chaldeans, who were with the captain of the guard, broke down all the walls of Jerusalem on every side. 15 Then Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard carried away captive certain of the poor of the people, and the residue of the people who remained in the city, and those who fell away, who fell to the king of Babylon, and the rest of the multitude. 16 But Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard left certain of the poor of the land for vinedressers and for farmers. 17 Also the pillars of brass that were in the house of the LORD, and the bases, and the brazen sea that was in the house of the LORD, the Chaldeans broke, and carried all the brass of them to Babylon. 18 The caldrons also, and the shovels, and the snuffers, and the bowls, and the spoons, and all the vessels of brass with which they ministered, they took away. 19 And the basins, and the fire-pans, and the bowls, and the caldrons, and the candlesticks, and the spoons, and the cups; that which was of gold in gold, and that which was of silver in silver, the captain of the guard took away. 20 The two pillars, one sea, and twelve brazen bulls that were under the bases, which king Solomon had made in the house of the LORD: The brass of all these vessels was without weight. 21 And concerning the pillars, the height of one pillar was eighteen cubits; and a fillet of twelve cubits did compass it; and the thickness of it was four fingers: It was hollow. 22 And a capital of brass was on it; and the height of one capital was five cubits, with network and pomegranates on the capitals all around, all of brass. The second pillar also and the pomegranates were like these. 23 And there were ninety-six pomegranates on a side; and all the pomegranates on the network were a hundred all around. 24 And the captain of the guard took Seraiah the chief priest, and Zephaniah the second priest, and the three keepers of the door: 25 He took also out of the city an eunuch, which had the charge of the men of war; and seven men of those that were near the king's person, which were found in the city; and the principal scribe of the host, who mustered the people of the land; and three score men of the people of the land, that were found in the midst of the city. 26 So Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard took them, and brought them to the king of Babylon to Riblah. 27 And the king of Babylon smote them, and put them to death in Riblah in the land of Hamath. Thus Judah was carried away captive out of his own land. 28 This is the people whom Nebuchadrezzar carried away captive: In the seventh year three thousand and twenty-three Jews: 29 In the eighteenth year of Nebuchadrezzar he carried away captive from Jerusalem eight hundred and thirty-two persons: 30 In the three and twentieth year of Nebuchadrezzar Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard carried away captive of the Jews seven hundred and forty-five persons: All the persons were four thousand six hundred. 31 And it came to pass in the thirty-seventh year of the captivity of Jehoiachin king of Judah, in the twelfth month, on the twenty-fifth day of the month, that Evilmerodach king of Babylon in the first year of his reign lifted up the head of Jehoiachin king of Judah, and brought him forth out of prison. 32 And spoke kindly to him, and set his throne above the throne of the kings who were with him in Babylon, 33 and changed his prison garments: And he continually ate bread before him all the days of his life. 34 And for his diet, there was a continual diet given him by the king of Babylon, every day a portion until the day of his death, all the days of his life.

Ezekiel 25:1-17

1 The word of the LORD came to me again, saying, 2 "Son of man, set your face against the Ammonites, and prophesy against them; 3 and say to the Ammonites, 'Hear the word of the Lord GOD; Thus says the Lord GOD; "Because you said, 'Aha', against My sanctuary, when it was profaned; and against the land of Israel, when it was desolate; and against the house of Judah, when they went into captivity; 4 behold, therefore I will deliver you to the men of the east for a possession, and they shall set their palaces in you, and make their dwellings in you: They shall eat your fruit, and they shall drink your milk. 5 And I will make Rabbah a stable for camels, and the Ammonites a couching place for flocks: And you shall know that I am the LORD." 6 For thus says the Lord GOD; "Because you have clapped your hands, and stamped with the feet, and rejoiced in heart with all your spite against the land of Israel; 7 behold, therefore I will stretch out My hand upon you, and will deliver you for a spoil to the heathen; and I will cut you off from the people, and I will cause you to perish out of the countries: I will destroy you; and you shall know that I am the LORD." 8 Thus says the Lord GOD; "Because Moab and Seir say, 'Behold, the house of Judah is like all the heathen;' 9 Therefore, behold, I will open the side of Moab from the cities, from his cities which are on his frontiers, the glory of the country, Bethjeshimoth, Baalmeon, and Kiriathaim, 10 to the men of the east with the Ammonites, and will give them possession, that the Ammonites may not be remembered among the nations. 11 And I will execute judgments on Moab; and they shall know that I am the LORD." 12 Thus says the Lord GOD; "Because Edom has dealt against the house of Judah by taking vengeance, and has greatly offended, and revenged himself on them;" 13 Therefore thus says the Lord GOD; "I will also stretch out My hand upon Edom, and will cut off man and beast from it; and I will make it desolate from Teman; and those from Dedan shall fall by the sword. 14 And I will lay My vengeance on Edom by the hand of My people Israel: And they shall do in Edom according to My anger and according to My fury; and they shall know My vengeance", said the Lord GOD. 15 Thus says the Lord GOD; "Because the Philistines have dealt by revenge, and have taken vengeance with a spiteful heart, to destroy it for the old hatred;" 16 Therefore thus says the Lord GOD; "Behold, I will stretch out My hand upon the Philistines, and I will cut off the Cherethims, and destroy the remnant of the sea coast. 17 And I will execute great vengeance on them with furious rebukes; and they shall know that I am the LORD, when I shall lay My vengeance on them." ' "

Habakkuk 1:9-10

9 They shall all come for violence: Their faces shall sup up as the east wind, and they shall gather the captivity as the sand. 10 And they shall scoff at the kings, and the princes shall be a scorn to them: They shall deride every stronghold; for they shall heap dust, and take it.

Habakkuk 2:5-8

5 Yes also, because he transgresses by wine, he is a proud man, neither keeps at home, who enlarges his desire as hell, and is as death, and cannot be satisfied, but gathers to him all nations, and heaps to him all people: 6 Shall not all these take up a parable against him, and a taunting proverb against him, and say, 'Woe to him that increases that which is not his!

Habakkuk 2:17

17 For the violence of Lebanon shall cover you, and the spoil of beasts, which made them afraid, because of men's blood, and for the violence of the land, of the city, and of all that dwell in it.
