⁵ And now your two sons, Ephraim and Manasseh, which were born to you in the land of Egypt before I came into Egypt to you, are mine; as Reuben and Simeon, they shall be mine.

⁵⁰ And to Joseph two sons were born before the years of famine came, which Asenath, the daughter of Potipherah, priest of On, bore to him. ⁵¹ And Joseph called the name of the firstborn Manasseh: "For God," he said, "has made me forget all my toil, and all my father's house."Manasseh; that is, Forgetting ⁵² And the name of the second he called Ephraim: "For God has caused me to be fruitful in the land of my affliction."Ephraim; that is, Fruitful

²⁰ And to Joseph in the land of Egypt were born Manasseh and Ephraim, which Asenath the daughter of Potipherah priest of On bore to him.

²⁶ And you shall be holy to me: For I the LORD am holy, and have severed you from other people, that you should be mine.

¹⁰ Of the children of Joseph: Of Ephraim; Elishama the son of Ammihud: Of Manasseh; Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur.

³² Of the children of Joseph, namely, of the children of Ephraim, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war; ³³ those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Ephraim, were forty thousand and five hundred. ³⁴ Of the children of Manasseh, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war; ³⁵ those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Manasseh, were thirty and two thousand and two hundred.

²⁸ The sons of Joseph after their families were Manasseh and Ephraim. ²⁹ Of the sons of Manasseh: Of Machir, the family of the Machirites: And Machir begat Gilead: Of Gilead come the family of the Gileadites. ³⁰ These are the sons of Gilead: Of Jeezer, the family of the Jeezerites: Of Helek, the family of the Helekites: ³¹ And of Asriel, the family of the Asrielites: And of Shechem, the family of the Shechemites: ³² And of Shemida, the family of the Shemidaites: And of Hepher, the family of the Hepherites. ³³ And Zelophehad the son of Hepher had no sons, but daughters: And the names of the daughters of Zelophehad were Mahlah, and Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah. ³⁴ These are the families of Manasseh, and those that were numbered of them, fifty and two thousand and seven hundred. ³⁵ These are the sons of Ephraim after their families: Of Shuthelah, the family of the Shuthalhites: Of Becher, the family of the Bachrites: Of Tahan, the family of the Tahanites. ³⁶ And these are the sons of Shuthelah: Of Eran, the family of the Eranites. ³⁷ These are the families of the sons of Ephraim according to those that were numbered of them, thirty and two thousand and five hundred. These are the sons of Joseph after their families.

⁷ Now therefore divide this land for an inheritance to the nine tribes, and the half tribe of Manasseh,

⁴ For the children of Joseph were two tribes, Manasseh and Ephraim: Therefore they gave no part to the Levites in the land, save cities to dwell in, with their suburbs for their domestic beasts and for their substance.

¹ And the lot of the children of Joseph fell from Jordan by Jericho, to the water of Jericho on the east, to the wilderness that goes up from Jericho throughout Mount Bethel, ² and goes out from Bethel to Luz, and passes along to the borders of Archi to Ataroth, ³ and goes down westward to the border of Japhleti, to the border of Bethhoron the nether, and to Gezer; and the goings out of it are at the sea. ⁴ So the children of Joseph, Manasseh and Ephraim, took their inheritance. ⁵ And the border of the children of Ephraim according to their families was thus: Even the border of their inheritance on the east side was Atarothaddar, to Bethhoron the upper; ⁶ and the border went out toward the sea to Michmethah on the north side; and the border went about eastward to Taanathshiloh, and passed by it on the east to Janohah; ⁷ and it went down from Janohah to Ataroth, and to Naarath, and came to Jericho, and went out at Jordan. ⁸ The border went out from Tappuah westward to the river Kanah; and the goings out of it were at the sea. This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Ephraim by their families. ⁹ And the separate cities for the children of Ephraim were among the inheritance of the children of Manasseh, all the cities with their villages. ¹⁰ And they drove not out the Canaanites that dwelled in Gezer: But the Canaanites dwell among the Ephraimites to this day, and serve under tribute.

¹ Now the sons of Reuben the firstborn of Israel, (for he was the firstborn; but for as much as he defiled his father's bed, his birthright was given to the sons of Joseph the son of Israel: And the genealogy is not to be reckoned after the birthright. ² For Judah prevailed above his brothers, and of him came the chief ruler; but the birthright was Joseph's):

¹ But now thus says the LORD that created you, O Jacob, and He that formed you, O Israel, "Fear not: For I have redeemed you, I have called you by your name; you are Mine.

⁸ Now when I passed by you, and looked on you, behold, your time was the time of love; and I spread my skirt over you, and covered your nakedness: Yes, I swore to you, and entered into a covenant with you", said the Lord GOD, "and you became Mine.

¹⁷ "And they shall be Mine", says the LORD of hosts, "in that day when I make up My jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spares his own son that serves him."

¹⁸ "And will be a Father to you, and you shall be My sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty."

⁵ Having predestined us to the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will,

⁶ Of the tribe of Asher twelve thousand were sealed. Of the tribe of Naphtali twelve thousand were sealed. Of the tribe of Manasseh twelve thousand were sealed. ⁷ Of the tribe of Simeon twelve thousand were sealed. Of the tribe of Levi twelve thousand were sealed. Of the tribe of Issachar twelve thousand were sealed.
