¹ Then Joseph came and told Pharaoh, and said, "My father and my brothers, and their flocks, and their herds, and all that they have, have come out of the land of Canaan; and behold, they are in the land of Goshen." ² And he took some of his brothers, even five men, and presented them to Pharaoh. ³ And Pharaoh said to his brothers, "What is your occupation?" And they said to Pharaoh, "Your servants are shepherds, both we, and also our fathers." ⁴ Moreover, they said to Pharaoh, "For we have come to sojourn in the land; for your servants have no pasture for their flocks; for the famine is severe in the land of Canaan: Now therefore, we implore you, let your servants dwell in the land of Goshen." ⁵ And Pharaoh spoke to Joseph, saying, "Your father and your brothers have come to you: ⁶ The land of Egypt is before you; compel your father and brothers to dwell in the best of the land; let them dwell in the land of Goshen: And if you know any men of activity among them, then make them rulers over my domestic beasts." ⁷ And Joseph brought in Jacob his father, and set him before Pharaoh: And Jacob blessed Pharaoh. ⁸ And Pharaoh said to Jacob, "How old are you? ⁹ And Jacob said to Pharaoh, "The days of the years of my pilgrimage are a hundred and thirty years: Few and evil have been the days of the years of my life, and I have not attained to the days of the years of the life of my fathers in the days of their pilgrimage." ¹⁰ And Jacob blessed Pharaoh, and went out from before Pharaoh. ¹¹ And Joseph placed his father and his brothers, and gave them a possession in the land of Egypt, in the best of the land, in the land of Rameses, as Pharaoh had commanded. ¹² And Joseph nourished his father, and his brothers, and all his father's household, with bread, according to their families. ¹³ And there was no bread in all the land; for the famine was very severe, so that the land of Egypt and all the land of Canaan fainted because of the famine. ¹⁴ And Joseph gathered up all the money that was found in the land of Egypt, and in the land of Canaan, for the grain which they bought: And Joseph brought the money into Pharaoh's house. ¹⁵ And when money failed in the land of Egypt, and in the land of Canaan, all the Egyptians came to Joseph, and said, "Give us bread: For why should we die in your presence? For the money fails." ¹⁶ And Joseph said, "Give your domestic beasts; and I will give you grain in exchange for your domestic beasts, if money fails." ¹⁷ And they brought their domestic beasts to Joseph: And Joseph gave them bread in exchange for horses, and for the flocks, and for the cattle of the herds, and for the donkeys: And he fed them with bread for all their domestic beasts that whole year. ¹⁸ When that year was ended, they came to him the second year, and said to him, "We will not hide it from my lord, how our money is spent; my lord also has our herds of domestic beasts; there is not anything left in the sight of my lord, except our bodies, and our lands: ¹⁹ Why shall we die before your eyes, both we and our land? Buy us and our land for bread, and we and our land will be servants to Pharaoh: And give us seed, that we may live, and not die, that the land not be desolate." ²⁰ And Joseph bought all the land of Egypt for Pharaoh; for every Egyptian man sold his field, because the famine prevailed over them: So the land became Pharaoh's. ²¹ And as for the people, he removed them to cities from one end of the borders of Egypt even to the other end of it. ²² Only the land of the priests he did not buy; for the priests had a portion assigned to them from Pharaoh, and ate their portion which Pharaoh gave them: Therefore they did not sell their lands. ²³ Then Joseph said to the people, "Behold, I have bought you and your land for Pharaoh this day: Lo, here is seed for you, and you shall sow the land. ²⁴ And it shall come to pass in the increase, that you shall give the fifth part to Pharaoh, and four parts shall be your own, for seed of the field, and for your food, and for those of your households, and for food for your little ones." ²⁵ And they said, "You have saved our lives: Let us find grace in the sight of my lord, and we will be Pharaoh's servants." ²⁶ And Joseph made it a law over the land of Egypt to this day, that Pharaoh should have the fifth part, except for only the land of the priests, which did not become Pharaoh's. ²⁷ And Israel dwelled in the land of Egypt, in the country of Goshen; and they had possessions in it, and grew, and multiplied exceedingly. ²⁸ And Jacob lived in the land of Egypt seventeen years: So the whole age of Jacob was a hundred and forty-seven years. ²⁹ And the time drew near that Israel must die: And he called his son Joseph, and said to him, "If now I have found grace in your sight, put, I implore you, your hand under my thigh, and deal kindly and truly with me; do not bury me, I implore you, in Egypt: ³⁰ But I will lie with my fathers, and you shall carry me out of Egypt, and bury me in their burial site." And he said, "I will do as you have said." ³¹ And he said, "Swear to me." And he swore to him. And Israel bowed himself on the bed's head.

¹⁰ And you shall dwell in the land of Goshen, and you shall be near to me, you, and your children, and your children's children, and your flocks, and your herds, and all that you have:

¹⁶ And the report about it was heard in Pharaoh's house, saying, "Joseph's brothers have come": And it pleased Pharaoh well, and his servants.

²⁸ And he sent Judah before him to Joseph, to direct his face to Goshen; and they came into the land of Goshen.

³¹ And Joseph said to his brothers, and to his father's house, "I will go up, and show Pharaoh, and say to him, 'My brothers, and my father's house, which were in the land of Canaan, have come to me;

³⁴ That you shall say, 'Your servants' trade has been about domestic beasts from our youth even until now, both we, and also our fathers': That you may dwell in the land of Goshen; for every shepherd is an abomination to the Egyptians."

²² And in that day I will sever the land of Goshen, in which My people dwell, that no swarms of flies shall be there; with the intent you may know that I am the LORD in the midst of the earth.

²⁶ Only in the land of Goshen, where the children of Israel were, was there no hail.

¹¹ For both He that sanctifies and those who are sanctified are all of one: For which reason He is not ashamed to call them brethren,

¹³ And at the second visit Joseph was made known to his brothers; and Joseph's kindred were made known to Pharaoh.

¹⁴ knowing that He which raised up the Lord Jesus shall also raise up us by Jesus, and shall present us with you.

²⁸ Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:

²⁴ Now to Him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy,

² And she bore again, his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.

³³ And it shall come to pass, when Pharaoh shall call you, and shall say, 'What is your occupation?' ³⁴ That you shall say, 'Your servants' trade has been about domestic beasts from our youth even until now, both we, and also our fathers': That you may dwell in the land of Goshen; for every shepherd is an abomination to the Egyptians."

¹⁴ Then Amos answered, and said to Amaziah, "I was not a prophet, neither was I a prophet's son; but I was a herdsman, and a gatherer of sycomore fruit:sycomore fruit; or, wild figs ¹⁵ And the LORD took me as I followed the flock, and the LORD said to me, 'Go, prophesy to My people Israel.'

⁸ Then they said to him, "Tell us, we implore you, for whose cause is this evil upon us; What is your occupation? And from where do you come? What is your country? And of what people are you?"

¹⁰ For even when we were with you, we commanded you this: That if anyone would not work, neither should he eat.

¹⁰ And there was a famine in the land: And Abram went down into Egypt to sojourn there; for the famine was grievous in the land.

¹³ And He said to Abram, "Know for sure that your seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not their's, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years;

¹ And the famine was severe in the land.

⁵ And you shall speak and say before the LORD your God, A Syrian ready to perish was my father, and he went down into Egypt, and sojourned there with a few, and became there a nation, great, mighty, and populous:

²³ Israel also came into Egypt; and Jacob sojourned in the land of Ham.

⁴ For thus says the Lord GOD, "My people formerly went down into Egypt to sojourn there; and the Assyrian oppressed them without cause.

⁶ And God spoke in this manner, that his seed should sojourn in a strange land; and that they should bring them into bondage, and treat them evilly four hundred years.

¹¹ Now there came a famine over all the land of Egypt and Canaan, and great affliction: And our fathers found no sustenance.

⁹ Is not the whole land before you? Separate yourself, I implore you, from me: If you will take the left hand side, then I will go to the right; or if you depart to the right hand side, then I will go to the left."

¹⁵ And Abimelech said, "Behold, my land is before you: Dwell where it pleases you."

¹⁰ And you shall dwell with us: And the land shall be before you; dwell and trade in it, and get possessions in it."

¹⁸ and take your father and your households, and come to me: And I will give you the good of the land of Egypt, and you shall eat the fat of the land. ¹⁹ Now you are commanded, do this; take for yourselves wagons out of the land of Egypt for your little ones, and for your wives, and bring your father, and come. ²⁰ Also do not overly regard your stuff; for the good of all the land of Egypt is yours.' "

⁴ Moreover, they said to Pharaoh, "For we have come to sojourn in the land; for your servants have no pasture for their flocks; for the famine is severe in the land of Canaan: Now therefore, we implore you, let your servants dwell in the land of Goshen."

¹¹ And Joseph placed his father and his brothers, and gave them a possession in the land of Egypt, in the best of the land, in the land of Rameses, as Pharaoh had commanded.

¹⁶ And Joseph said, "Give your domestic beasts; and I will give you grain in exchange for your domestic beasts, if money fails."

³ behold, the hand of the LORD is upon your domestic beasts which are in the field, upon the horses, upon the donkeys, upon the camels, upon the oxen, and upon the sheep: There shall be a very grievous domestic beast plague. ⁴ And the LORD shall sever between the domestic beasts of Israel and the domestic beasts of Egypt: And there shall nothing die of all that is the children's of Israel. ⁵ And the LORD appointed a set time, saying, "Tomorrow the LORD shall do this thing in the land." ⁶ And the LORD did that thing on the next day, and all the domestic beasts of Egypt died: But not one of the domestic beasts of the children of Israel died.

¹⁰ And they took ashes of the furnace, and stood before Pharaoh; and Moses sprinkled it up toward heaven; and it became a boil breaking forth with pustules upon man, and upon beast.

²¹ And he that did not regard the word of the LORD left his servants and his domestic beasts in the field.

²¹ Moreover you shall provide out of all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them, to be rulers of thousands, and rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens:

²⁵ And Moses chose able men out of all Israel, and made them heads over the people, rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens.

All these were the rulers of the substance which was king David's.

¹⁰ Also he built towers in the desert, and dig many wells: For he had much domestic beasts, both in the low country, and in the plains: Farmers also, and vine dressers in the mountains, and in Carmel: For he loved husbandry.

¹ The king's heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water: He turns it wherever He will.

²⁹ See a man diligent in his business? He shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.

² As you have given Him power over all flesh, that He should give eternal life to as many as You have given Him.

²⁷ And Jacob came to Isaac his father at Mamre, to the city of Arbah, which is Hebron, where Abraham and Isaac sojourned.

¹⁰ And Jacob blessed Pharaoh, and went out from before Pharaoh.

³² Also take your flocks and your herds, as you have said, "and be gone; and bless me also."

²³ speak to Aaron and to his sons, saying, "On this wise you shall bless the children of Israel, saying to them, ²⁴ the LORD bless you, and keep you:

¹³ And Joshua blessed him, and gave to Caleb the son of Jephunneh Hebron for an inheritance.

²⁰ And Eli blessed Elkanah and his wife, and said, "The LORD give you seed of this woman for the loan which is lent to the LORD." And they went to their own home.

¹⁰ then Toi sent Joram his son to king David, to salute him, and to bless him, because he had fought against Hadadezer, and smitten him: For Hadadezer had wars with Toi. And Joram brought with him vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and vessels of brass:

⁴⁷ And moreover the king's servants came to bless our lord king David, saying, "God make the name of Solomon better than your name, and make his throne greater than your throne. And the king bowed himself on the bed.

²⁹ Then he said to Gehazi, "Gird up your loins, and take my staff in your hand, and go your way: If you meet any man, salute him not; and if any salute you, answer him not again: And lay my staff on the face of the child.

²⁶ And as they ate, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and broke it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, "Take, eat; this is My body."

¹⁹ And He took bread, gave thanks, and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, "This is My body which is given for you: Do this in remembrance of Me."

¹⁷ Honor all people. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king.

²⁷ And all the days of Methuselah were nine hundred and sixty-nine years: And he died.

¹¹ And after Shem begat Arphaxad, he lived five hundred years, and begat sons and daughters.

²⁴ And Nahor lived twenty-nine years, and begat Terah: ²⁵ And after Nahor begat Terah, he lived a hundred and nineteen years, and begat sons and daughters.

⁴ And I have also established My covenant with them, to give them the land of Canaan, the land of their pilgrimage, in which they were strangers.

⁷ And Moses was eighty years old, and Aaron eighty-three years old, when they spoke to Pharaoh.

⁷ And Moses was a hundred and twenty years old when he died: His eye was not dim, nor his natural force abated.

²⁹ And it came to pass after these things, that Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of the LORD, died, being a hundred and ten years old.

³² Now Barzillai was a very aged man, even eighty years old: And he had provided the king of sustenance while he lay at Mahanaim; for he was a very great man. ³³ And the king said to Barzillai, "Come you over with me, and I will feed you with me in Jerusalem. ³⁴ And Barzillai said to the king, How long have I to live, that I should go up with the king to Jerusalem? ³⁵ I am this day eighty years old: And can I discern between good and evil? Can your servant taste what I eat or what I drink? Can I hear any more the voice of singing men and singing women? Why then should your servant be yet a burden to my lord the king?

¹⁵ For we are strangers before you, and sojourners, as were all our fathers: Our days on the earth are as a shadow, and there is none abiding.

⁸ For inquire, I implore you, of the former age, and prepare yourself to the search of their fathers: ⁹ (For we are but of yesterday, and know nothing, because our days on earth are a shadow):

¹ Man that is born of a woman is of few days and full of trouble.

¹⁶ After this lived Job a hundred and forty years, and saw his sons, and his sons' sons, even four generations. ¹⁷ So Job died, being old and full of days.

⁵ Behold, You have made my days as a hand-breadth; and my age is as nothing before you: Truly every man at his best state is altogether vanity. Selah.

¹² Hear my prayer, O LORD, and give ear to my cry; do not hold Your peace at my tears: For I am a stranger with You, and a sojourner, as all my fathers were.

⁴⁷ Remember how short my time is: Why have You made all men in vain? ⁴⁸ What man is he that lives, and shall not see death? Shall he deliver his soul from the hand of the grave? Selah.

³ You turn man to destruction, and say, "Return, you children of men." ⁴ For a thousand years in Your sight are as only yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night. ⁵ You carry them away as with a flood; they are as a sleep: In the morning they are like grass which grows up. ⁶ In the morning it flourishes, and grows up; in the evening it is cut down, and withers. ⁷ For we are consumed by Your anger, and by Your wrath we are troubled. ⁸ You have set our iniquities before You, our secret sins in the light of Your countenance. ⁹ For all our days are passed away in Your wrath: We spend our years as a tale that is told. ¹⁰ The days of our years are seventy years; and if by reason of strength they are eighty years, yet their strength is labor and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away. ¹¹ Who knows the power of Your anger? Even according to Your fear, so is Your wrath. ¹² So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts to wisdom.

¹⁹ I am a stranger in the earth: Do not hide Your commandments from me.

⁵⁴ Your statutes have been my songs in the house of my pilgrimage.

⁶ Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, while we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord:

⁹ By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise: ¹⁰ And he looked for a city which has foundations, whose builder and maker is God. ¹¹ Through faith Sarah herself also received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged Him faithful who had promised. ¹² Therefore even from just one man, and him as good as dead, were born so many as the stars of the sky in multitude, and innumerable as the sand which is by the seashore. ¹³ These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them far off, and were persuaded by them, embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. ¹⁴ For those that say such things declare plainly that they seek a country. ¹⁵ And truly, if they had been mindful of that country from which they came out, they might have had opportunity to have returned. ¹⁶ But now they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly: Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: For He has prepared a city for them.

¹⁴ For here we have no continuing city, but we seek one to come.

¹⁴ When in fact you all do not know what shall happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is indeed a vapor, that appears for a little while, and then vanishes away.

¹¹ Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;

¹⁹ And he blessed him, and said, "Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth:

⁷ And Joseph brought in Jacob his father, and set him before Pharaoh: And Jacob blessed Pharaoh.

²³ speak to Aaron and to his sons, saying, "On this wise you shall bless the children of Israel, saying to them, ²⁴ the LORD bless you, and keep you: ²⁵ The LORD make his face shine on you, and be gracious to you: ²⁶ The LORD lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace." ' ²⁷ And they shall put my name on the children of Israel, and I will bless them.

¹ And this is the blessing, with which Moses the man of God blessed the children of Israel before his death.

⁴ And behold, Boaz came from Bethlehem, and said to the reapers, "The LORD be with you." And they answered him, "The LORD bless you."

⁴⁶ I will speak of Your testimonies also before kings, and will not be ashamed.

⁸ Neither do those which pass by say, "The blessing of the LORD be upon you: We bless you in the name of the LORD."

⁷ And without any contradiction the lesser is blessed by the better.

⁶ The land of Egypt is before you; compel your father and brothers to dwell in the best of the land; let them dwell in the land of Goshen: And if you know any men of activity among them, then make them rulers over my domestic beasts."

¹¹ Therefore they set taskmasters over them to afflict them with their burdens. And they built for Pharaoh treasure cities, Pithom and Raamses.

³⁷ And the children of Israel journeyed from Rameses to Succoth, about six hundred thousand on foot that were men, beside children.

¹⁰ The thief does not come, but to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I have come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

²⁸ And I give them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of My hand.

² In My Father's house are many mansions: If it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

²³ Jesus answered and said to him, "If a man loves Me, he will keep My words: And My Father will love him, and We will come to him, and make Our abode with him.

²⁴ Father, I will that those whom You have given Me are also with Me where I am; that they may behold My glory, which You have given Me: For You loved Me before the foundation of the world.

¹¹ And I will nourish you there; for there are still five more years of famine; lest you, and your household, and all that you have, come to poverty." '

¹ Then Joseph came and told Pharaoh, and said, "My father and my brothers, and their flocks, and their herds, and all that they have, have come out of the land of Canaan; and behold, they are in the land of Goshen."

²¹ And as for the people, he removed them to cities from one end of the borders of Egypt even to the other end of it.

²⁴ And it shall come to pass in the increase, that you shall give the fifth part to Pharaoh, and four parts shall be your own, for seed of the field, and for your food, and for those of your households, and for food for your little ones."

¹² Honor your father and your mother: That your days may be long upon the land which the LORD your God gives you.

¹⁵ And he shall be to you a restorer of your life, and a nourisher of your old age: For your daughter-in-law, who loves you has borne him, which is better to you than seven sons."

⁴ For God commanded, saying, 'Honor your father and mother': And, 'He that curses father or mother, let him die the death.' ⁵ But you say, 'Whoever says to his father or his mother, "Whatever you might be profited by me, it is a gift"; ⁶ and does not honor his father or his mother, thinking he shall be exempt.' Thus you have made the commandment of God of no effect by your tradition.

¹⁰ For Moses said, 'Honor your father and your mother'; and, 'Whoever curses father or mother, let him die the death': ¹¹ But you say, 'If a man says to his father or mother, "Whatever you might be profited through me is Corban" ', that is to say, a gift; he shall be free of obligation. ¹² And you no longer permit him to do anything for his father or his mother; ¹³ making the Word of God of no effect through your tradition, which you have passed down: And many such similar things you do."

⁷ But we were gentle among you, even as a nursing mother cherishes her children:

⁸ For bodily exercise profits little: But godliness is profitable to all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.

⁴ But if any widow has children or nephews, let them first learn to show piety at home, and to repay their parents: For this is good and acceptable before God.

⁸ But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his own house, he has denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.

³⁰ And there shall arise after them seven years of famine; and all the plenty shall be forgotten in the land of Egypt; and the famine shall consume the land; ³¹ and the plenty shall not be known in the land because of that famine following; for it shall be very grievous.

⁵ And Ahab said to Obadiah, "Go into the land, to all fountains of water, and to all brooks: Peradventure we may find grass to save the horses and mules alive, that we lose not all the beasts.

¹² Who is the wise man, that may understand this? And who is he to whom the mouth of the LORD has spoken, that he may declare it, why the land perishes and is burned up like a wilderness, that none passes through?

¹ The word of the LORD that came to Jeremiah concerning the dearth. ² Judah mourns, and her gates languish; they are black to the ground; and the cry of Jerusalem has gone up. ³ And their nobles have sent their little ones to the waters: They came to the pits, and found no water; they returned with their vessels empty; they were ashamed and confounded, and covered their heads. ⁴ Because the ground is beat down, for there was no rain in the earth, the plowmen were ashamed, they covered their heads. ⁵ Yes, the hind also calved in the field, and forsook it, because there was no grass. ⁶ And the wild donkeys stood in the high places, they snuffed up the wind like dragons; their eyes failed, because there was no grass.

¹⁹ Arise, cry out in the night: In the beginning of the watches pour out your heart like water before the face of the LORD: Lift up your hands toward Him for the life of your young children, who faint for hunger at the head of every street." ²⁰ Behold, O LORD, and consider to whom You have done this. Shall the women eat their offspring, and children a span long? Shall the priest and the prophet be slain in the sanctuary of the Lord?

⁹ They who are slain with the sword are better than they who are slain with hunger: For these pine away, stricken through for want of the fruits of the field.

¹⁰ The field is wasted, the land mourns; for the grain is wasted: The new wine is dried up, the oil languishes. ¹¹ Be ashamed, O you farmers; howl, O you vinedressers, for the wheat and for the barley; because the harvest of the field has perished. ¹² The vine is dried up, and the fig tree languishes; the pomegranate tree, the palm tree also, and the apple tree, even all the trees of the field, are withered: Because joy is withered away from the sons of men.

⁵⁶ And the famine was over all the face of the earth: And Joseph opened all the storehouses, and sold to the Egyptians; and the famine waxed very grievous in the land of Egypt.

¹ Moreover He also said to His disciples, "There was a certain rich man which had a steward; and the same stewart was accused to him that he had wasted his goods. ² Therefore he called him, and said to him, 'What is this that I hear about you? Give an account of your stewardship; for you may no longer be steward.'

¹⁰ He who is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: And he who is unjust in the least is also unjust in much. ¹¹ Therefore, if you have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches? ¹² And if you have not been faithful in what is another man's, who shall give you that which is your own?

² Moreover, it is required in stewards that a man be found faithful.

¹⁰ As every man has received the gift, even so minister the same to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.

¹⁸ When that year was ended, they came to him the second year, and said to him, "We will not hide it from my lord, how our money is spent; my lord also has our herds of domestic beasts; there is not anything left in the sight of my lord, except our bodies, and our lands: ¹⁹ Why shall we die before your eyes, both we and our land? Buy us and our land for bread, and we and our land will be servants to Pharaoh: And give us seed, that we may live, and not die, that the land not be desolate."

⁵ And he said to the men of Succoth, Give, I implore you, loaves of bread to the people that follow me; for they be faint, and I am pursuing after Zebah and Zalmunna, kings of Midian.

⁸ And he went up there to Penuel, and spoke to them likewise: And the men of Penuel answered him as the men of Succoth had answered him.

³ Now therefore, what do you have on hand? Give me five loaves of bread in my hand, or what there is present."

⁸ Ask your young men, and they will show you. Therefore let the young men find favor in your eyes: For we come in a good day: Give, I implore you, whatever comes to your hand to your servants, and to your son David.' "

³ Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shall you dwell in the land, and truly you shall be fed.

¹⁶ he shall dwell on high: His place of defense shall be the fortress of rocks: Bread shall be given him; his waters shall be sure.

¹¹ Give us this day our daily bread.

¹⁷ He that speaks truth shows forth righteousness: But a false witness deceit.

⁵ Then these men said, "We shall not find any occasion against this Daniel, except if we find it against him concerning the law of his God." ⁶ Then these presidents and princes assembled together to the king, and said thus to him, "king Darius, live forever. ⁷ All the presidents of the kingdom, the governors, and the princes, the counselors, and the captains, have consulted together to establish a royal statute, and to make a firm decree, that whoever shall ask a petition of any God or man for thirty days, except of you, O king, he shall be cast into the den of lions.

³² Give no offense, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the church of God:

⁸ Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are honest, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

⁵ Walk in wisdom toward those that are outside, redeeming the time.

³ behold, the hand of the LORD is upon your domestic beasts which are in the field, upon the horses, upon the donkeys, upon the camels, upon the oxen, and upon the sheep: There shall be a very grievous domestic beast plague.

²⁸ And Solomon had horses brought out of Egypt, and linen yarn: The king's merchants received the linen yarn at a price.

⁴ And Satan answered the LORD, and said, "Skin for skin, yes, all that a man has will he give for his life.

¹ Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help; and stay on horses, and trust in chariots, because they are many; and in horsemen, because they are very strong; but they do not look to the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the LORD!

²⁴ No one can serve two masters: For either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.

²⁶ And as the king of Israel was passing by upon the wall, there cried a woman to him, saying, "Help, my lord, O king.

⁹ "My lord the king, these men have done evil in all that they have done to Jeremiah the prophet, whom they have cast into the dungeon; and he is likely to die for hunger in the place where he is: For there is no more bread in the city."

² For there were that said, "We, our sons, and our daughters, are many: Therefore we take up grain for them, that we may eat, and live. ³ Some also there were that said, "We have mortgaged our lands, vineyards, and houses, that we might buy grain, because of the dearth.

¹¹ All her people sigh, they seek bread; they have given their pleasant things for meat to relieve the soul: "See, O LORD, and consider; for I have become vile.

⁶ We have given the hand to the Egyptians, and to the Assyrians, to be satisfied with bread.

⁹ We got our bread with the peril of our lives because of the sword of the wilderness.

²⁶ For what is a man profited, if he gains the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

⁸ Yes without doubt, and I count all things as loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: For whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as dung, that I may win Christ, ⁹ and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:

⁴⁸ And he gathered up all the food of the seven years, which were in the land of Egypt, and laid up the food in the cities: The food of the field, which was all around every city, he laid up in the same city.

¹⁸ And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: And he was the priest of the most high God.

⁴⁵ And Pharaoh called Joseph's name Zaphnathpaaneah; and he gave him Asenath to wife, the daughter of Potipherah, priest of On. And Joseph went out over all the land of Egypt.Zaphnathpaaneah; which in the Coptic signifies, A revealer of secrets, or, The man to whom secrets are revealed

⁵⁰ And to Joseph two sons were born before the years of famine came, which Asenath, the daughter of Potipherah, priest of On, bore to him.

¹⁹ Take heed to yourself that you forsake not the Levite as long as you live on the earth.

¹ Then came near the heads of the fathers of the Levites to Eleazar the priest, and to Joshua the son of Nun, and to the heads of the fathers of the tribes of the children of Israel; ² and they spoke to them at Shiloh in the land of Canaan, saying, "The LORD commanded by the hand of Moses to give us cities to dwell in, with its suburbs for our domestic beasts. ³ And the children of Israel gave to the Levites out of their inheritance, at the commandment of the LORD, these cities and their suburbs. ⁴ And the lot came out for the families of the Kohathites: And the children of Aaron the priest, which were of the Levites, had by lot out of the tribe of Judah, and out of the tribe of Simeon, and out of the tribe of Benjamin, thirteen cities. ⁵ And the rest of the children of Kohath had by lot out of the families of the tribe of Ephraim, and out of the tribe of Dan, and out of the half tribe of Manasseh, ten cities. ⁶ And the children of Gershon had by lot out of the families of the tribe of Issachar, and out of the tribe of Asher, and out of the tribe of Naphtali, and out of the half tribe of Manasseh in Bashan, thirteen cities. ⁷ The children of Merari by their families had out of the tribe of Reuben, and out of the tribe of Gad, and out of the tribe of Zebulun, twelve cities. ⁸ And the children of Israel gave by lot to the Levites these cities with their suburbs, as the LORD commanded by the hand of Moses. ⁹ And they gave out of the tribe of the children of Judah, and out of the tribe of the children of Simeon, these cities which are here mentioned by name. ¹⁰ Which the children of Aaron, being of the families of the Kohathites, who were of the children of Levi, had: For theirs was the first lot. ¹¹ And they gave them the city of Arba the father of Anak, which city is Hebron, in the hill country of Judah, with its suburbs all around it. ¹² But the fields of the city, and its villages, gave they to Caleb the son of Jephunneh for his possession. ¹³ Thus they gave to the children of Aaron the priest Hebron with her suburbs, to be a city of refuge for the slayer; and Libnah with her suburbs, ¹⁴ and Jattir with her suburbs, and Eshtemoa with her suburbs, ¹⁵ and Holon with her suburbs, and Debir with her suburbs, ¹⁶ and Ain with her suburbs, and Juttah with her suburbs, and Bethshemesh with her suburbs; nine cities out of those two tribes. ¹⁷ And out of the tribe of Benjamin, Gibeon with her suburbs, Geba with her suburbs, ¹⁸ anathoth with her suburbs, and Almon with her suburbs; four cities. ¹⁹ All the cities of the children of Aaron, the priests, were thirteen cities with their suburbs. ²⁰ And the families of the children of Kohath, the Levites which remained of the children of Kohath, even they had the cities of their lot out of the tribe of Ephraim. ²¹ For they gave them Shechem with her suburbs in Mount Ephraim, to be a city of refuge for the slayer; and Gezer with her suburbs, ²² and Kibzaim with her suburbs, and Bethhoron with her suburbs; four cities. ²³ And out of the tribe of Dan, Eltekeh with her suburbs, Gibbethon with her suburbs, ²⁴ aijalon with her suburbs, Gathrimmon with her suburbs; four cities. ²⁵ And out of the half tribe of Manasseh, Tanach with her suburbs, and Gathrimmon with her suburbs; two cities. ²⁶ All the cities were ten with their suburbs for the families of the children of Kohath that remained. ²⁷ And to the children of Gershon, of the families of the Levites, out of the other half tribe of Manasseh they gave Golan in Bashan with her suburbs, to be a city of refuge for the slayer; and Beeshterah with her suburbs; two cities. ²⁸ And out of the tribe of Issachar, Kishon with her suburbs, Dabareh with her suburbs, ²⁹ jarmuth with her suburbs, Engannim with her suburbs; four cities. ³⁰ And out of the tribe of Asher, Mishal with her suburbs, Abdon with her suburbs, ³¹ helkath with her suburbs, and Rehob with her suburbs; four cities. ³² And out of the tribe of Naphtali, Kedesh in Galilee with her suburbs, to be a city of refuge for the slayer; and Hammothdor with her suburbs, and Kartan with her suburbs; three cities. ³³ All the cities of the Gershonites according to their families were thirteen cities with their suburbs. ³⁴ And to the families of the children of Merari, the rest of the Levites, out of the tribe of Zebulun, Jokneam with her suburbs, and Kartah with her suburbs, ³⁵ dimnah with her suburbs, Nahalal with her suburbs; four cities. ³⁶ And out of the tribe of Reuben, Bezer with her suburbs, and Jahazah with her suburbs, ³⁷ kedemoth with her suburbs, and Mephaath with her suburbs; four cities. ³⁸ And out of the tribe of Gad, Ramoth in Gilead with her suburbs, to be a city of refuge for the slayer; and Mahanaim with her suburbs, ³⁹ heshbon with her suburbs, Jazer with her suburbs; four cities in all. ⁴⁰ So all the cities for the children of Merari by their families, which were remaining of the families of the Levites, were by their lot twelve cities. ⁴¹ All the cities of the Levites within the possession of the children of Israel were forty and eight cities with their suburbs. ⁴² These cities were every one with their suburbs all around them: Thus were all these cities. ⁴³ And the LORD gave to Israel all the land which he swore to give to their fathers; and they possessed it, and dwelled in it. ⁴⁴ And the LORD gave them rest all around, according to all that he swore to their fathers: And there stood not a man of all their enemies before them; the LORD delivered all their enemies into their hand. ⁴⁵ There failed not ought of any good thing which the LORD had spoken to the house of Israel; all came to pass.

¹⁸ and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over both the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and David's sons were chief rulers.

²⁴ Also we certify you, that touching any of the priests and Levites, singers, porters, Nethinims, or ministers of this house of God, it shall not be lawful to impose toll, tribute, or custom, on them.

¹⁰ And I perceived that the portions of the Levites had not been given them: For the Levites and the singers, that did the work, were fled every one to his field.

¹⁰ nor bag for your journey, nor two coats, neither shoes, nor even walking staffs: For the workman is worthy of his food.

¹³ Do you not know that those who minister around holy things live from the things of the temple? And those who wait at the altar are partakers with the altar?

⁶ Let him that is taught in the word communicate to him that teaches in all good things.

¹⁷ Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in the word and doctrine.

²⁷ And the seven thin and ill-favored cows that came up after them are seven years; and the seven empty ears blasted with the east wind shall be seven years of famine.

⁶ For these two years the famine has been in the land: And there are still five more years, in which there shall be neither plowing nor harvest.

¹ To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. Blessed is he that considers the poor: The LORD will deliver him in time of trouble.

³⁶ And He makes the hungry dwell there, that they may prepare a city for habitation; ³⁷ and sow the fields, and plant vineyards, which may yield fruits of increase.

⁵ A good man shows favor, and lends: He will guide his affairs with discretion.

²⁶ He that withholds grain, the people shall curse him: But blessing shall be upon the head of him that sells it.

¹¹ He that tills his land shall be satisfied with bread: But he that follows vain persons is void of understanding.

²³ Much food is in the tilled land of the poor: But there is that which is destroyed for absence of judgment.

⁶ In the morning sow your seed, and in the evening do not withhold your hand: For you do not know which shall prosper, either this or that, or whether they both alike shall be good.

²⁴ Does the plowman plow all day to sow? Does he open and break the clods of his ground? ²⁵ When he has made the face of it level, does he not cast abroad the fitches, and scatter the cummin, and cast in the principal wheat and the appointed barley and the rye in their place?

¹⁰ For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, and does not return there, but waters the earth, and makes it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:

⁴⁵ Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord has made ruler over his household, to give them food in due season?

¹⁰ Now He that ministers seed to the sower also ministers bread for your food, and multiplies your seed sown, and increases the fruits of your righteousness);

³⁴ Let Pharaoh do this, and let him appoint officers over the land, and take up the fifth part of the land of Egypt in the seven plenteous years.

²⁵ And they said, "You have saved our lives: Let us find grace in the sight of my lord, and we will be Pharaoh's servants."

³² And concerning the tithe of the herd, or of the flock, even of whatever passes under the rod, the tenth shall be holy to the LORD.

¹⁵ And he will take a tenth of your seed, and of your vineyards, and give to his officers, and to his servants. ¹⁶ And he will take your menservants, and your maidservants, and your finest young men, and your donkeys, and put them to his work. ¹⁷ He will take a tenth of your sheep: And you shall be his servants.

¹⁹ And of every living thing of all flesh, you shall bring two of every sort into the ark, to keep them alive with you; they shall be male and female.

³ and said, "My Lord, if now I have found favor in your sight, do not pass on by, I implore you, from your servant:

¹⁵ And Esau said, "Let me now leave with you some of the folks that are with me." And he said, "What necessitates it? Let me find grace in the sight of my lord."

⁶ For these two years the famine has been in the land: And there are still five more years, in which there shall be neither plowing nor harvest. ⁷ And God sent me before you to preserve for you a posterity in the earth, and to save your lives by a great deliverance. ⁸ So now it was not you that sent me here, but God: And He has made me a father to Pharaoh, and lord of all his house, and a ruler throughout all the land of Egypt.

²⁰ But as for you, you thought evil against me; but God meant it for good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save many people alive.

¹³ Then she said, "Let me find favor in your sight, my lord; for you have comforted me, and for you have spoken friendly to your handmaid, though I am not like one of your handmaidens."

²⁶ He that withholds grain, the people shall curse him: But blessing shall be upon the head of him that sells it. ²⁷ He that diligently seeks good procures favor: But he that seeks mischief, it shall come to him.

²² Only the land of the priests he did not buy; for the priests had a portion assigned to them from Pharaoh, and ate their portion which Pharaoh gave them: Therefore they did not sell their lands.

²⁴ Therefore I will bring the worst of the heathen, and they shall possess their houses: I will also make the pomp of the strong to cease; and their holy places shall be defiled.

⁷ And he sent forth a raven, which went forth to and fro, until the waters were dried up from off the earth.

⁹ but the dove found no rest for the sole of her foot, and she returned to him into the ark, for the waters were on the face of the whole earth: Then he put forth his hand, and took her, and pulled her in to him into the ark.

¹⁶ And I will make your seed as the dust of the earth: So that if a man can number the dust of the earth, then your seed shall also be numbered.

⁶ And I will make you exceedingly fruitful, and I will make nations of you, and kings shall come out of you.

⁴ and I will make your seed to multiply as the stars of heaven, and will give to your seed all these countries; and in your seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed;

¹⁴ and your seed shall be as the dust of the earth, and you shall spread abroad to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south: And in you and in your seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed.

³ And he said, "I am God, the God of your father: Do not fear to go down into Egypt; for there I will make a great nation of you:

⁷ And the children of Israel were fruitful, and increased abundantly, and multiplied, and waxed exceedingly mighty; and the land was filled with them.

¹² But the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and grew. And they were grieved because of the children of Israel.

²² Your fathers went down into Egypt with three score and ten persons; and now the LORD your God has made you as the stars of heaven for multitude.

²³ Their children also multiplied you as the stars of heaven, and brought them into the land, concerning which you had promised to their fathers, that they should go in to possess it.

²⁴ And He increased His people greatly; and made them stronger than their enemies.

³⁸ He also blesses them, so that they are multiplied greatly; and does not permit their domestic beasts to decrease.

⁸ I will hiss for them, and gather them; for I have redeemed them: And they shall increase as they have formerly increased.

¹⁷ "But when the time of the promise drew near, which God had sworn to Abraham, the people grew and multiplied in Egypt,

² These are the generations of Jacob. Joseph, being seventeen years old, was feeding the flock with his brothers; and the lad was with the sons of Bilhah, and with the sons of Zilpah, his father's wives: And Joseph brought to his father their evil report.

⁸ And Pharaoh said to Jacob, "How old are you? ⁹ And Jacob said to Pharaoh, "The days of the years of my pilgrimage are a hundred and thirty years: Few and evil have been the days of the years of my life, and I have not attained to the days of the years of the life of my fathers in the days of their pilgrimage."

¹⁰ The days of our years are seventy years; and if by reason of strength they are eighty years, yet their strength is labor and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.

¹² So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts to wisdom.

⁸⁴ How many are the days of Your servant? When will You execute judgment on those who persecute me?

¹⁹ in the sweat of your face you shall eat bread, until you return to the ground; for out of it you were taken: For dust you are, and to dust you shall return."

² And Abraham said to his oldest servant of his house, that ruled over all that he had, "Put, I implore you, your hand under my thigh:

⁴⁹ And now if you will deal kindly and truly with my master, tell me: And if not, tell me; that I may turn to the right hand, or to the left."

⁹ And Jacob said to Pharaoh, "The days of the years of my pilgrimage are a hundred and thirty years: Few and evil have been the days of the years of my life, and I have not attained to the days of the years of the life of my fathers in the days of their pilgrimage."

²⁴ And Joseph said to his brothers, "I die: And God will surely visit you, and bring you out of this land to the land which He swore to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob." ²⁵ And Joseph took an oath of the children of Israel, saying, "God will surely visit you, and you shall carry up my bones from this place."

¹⁴ And the LORD said to Moses, "Behold, your days approach that you must die: Call Joshua, and present yourselves in the tabernacle of the congregation, that I may give him a charge. And Moses and Joshua went, and presented themselves in the tabernacle of the congregation.

¹² And when your days be fulfilled, and you shall sleep with your fathers, I will set up your seed after you, which shall proceed out of your bowels, and I will establish his kingdom.

¹⁴ For we must needs die, and are as water spilt on the ground, which cannot be gathered up again; neither does God respect any person: Yet does he devise means, that his banished be not expelled from him.

¹ Now the days of David drew near that he should die; and he charged Solomon his son, saying,

¹ Is there not an appointed time to man on earth? Are not his days also like the days of a hireling?

¹⁴ If a man die, shall he live again? All the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come.

²³ For I know that you will bring me to death, and to the house appointed for all living.

⁵ For in death there is no remembrance of You: In the grave who shall give You thanks?

⁷ none of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him:

⁹ That he should still live forever, and not see corruption.

⁴⁸ What man is he that lives, and shall not see death? Shall he deliver his soul from the hand of the grave? Selah.

¹⁵ So Jacob went down into Egypt, and died, he, and our fathers, ¹⁶ and they were carried over into Shechem, and laid in the sepulchre that Abraham bought for a sum of money from the sons of Emmor, the father of Shechem.

²⁷ And as it is appointed to men once to die, but after this the judgment:

²² By faith Joseph, when he was dying, made mention of the departure of the children of Israel; and gave commands concerning his bones.

¹⁹ And after this, Abraham buried Sarah his wife in the cave of the field of Machpelah before Mamre: The same is Hebron in the land of Canaan.

⁹ And his sons Isaac and Ishmael buried him in the cave of Machpelah, in the field of Ephron the son of Zohar the Hittite, which is before Mamre;

²⁹ And he charged them, and said to them, "I am to be gathered to my people: Bury me with my fathers in the cave that is in the field of Ephron the Hittite, ³⁰ in the cave that is in the field of Machpelah, which is before Mamre, in the land of Canaan, which Abraham bought with the field of Ephron the Hittite for a possession of a burial site. ³¹ There they buried Abraham and Sarah his wife; there they buried Isaac and Rebekah his wife; and there I buried Leah. ³² The purchase of the field and of the cave that is within it were from the children of Heth."

⁵ 'My father made me swear, saying, "Lo, I die: In my grave which I have dug for myself in the land of Canaan, there you shall bury me." Now therefore let me go up, I implore you, and bury my father, and I will come back again.' " ⁶ And Pharaoh said, "Go up, and bury your father, according to as he made you swear." ⁷ And Joseph went up to bury his father: And all the servants of Pharaoh, the elders of his house, and all the elders of the land of Egypt went up with him, ⁸ and all the house of Joseph, and his brothers, and his father's house: Only their little ones, their flocks, and their herds, did they leave in the land of Goshen. ⁹ And there went up with him both chariots and horsemen: And it was a very great company. ¹⁰ And they came to the threshing floor of Atad, which is beyond the Jordan, and there they mourned with a great and very sore lamentation: And he made a mourning for his father seven days. ¹¹ And when the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites, saw the mourning in the floor of Atad, they said, "This is a grievous mourning to the Egyptians: Therefore, the name of it was called Abelmizraim, which is beyond the Jordan.Abelmizraim; that is, The mourning of the Egyptians ¹² And his sons did to him according to as he commanded them: ¹³ For his sons carried him into the land of Canaan, and buried him in the cave of the field of Machpelah, which Abraham bought with the field for a burial site possession from Ephron the Hittite, before Mamre. ¹⁴ And Joseph returned into Egypt, he, and his brothers, and all that went up with him to bury his father, after he had buried his father.

²⁵ And Joseph took an oath of the children of Israel, saying, "God will surely visit you, and you shall carry up my bones from this place."

³⁷ Let your servant, I implore you, turn back again, that I may die in my own city, and be buried by the grave of my father and of my mother. But behold your servant Chimham; let him go over with my lord the king; and do to him what shall seem good to you.

²² but came back, and have eaten bread and drunk water in the place, of the which the Lord did say to you, Eat no bread, and drink no water; your carcass shall not come to the sepulcher of your fathers.

³ and said to the king, Let the king live forever: Why should not my countenance be sad, when the city, the place of my fathers' sepulchers, lies waste, and its gates are consumed with fire?

⁵ And I said to the king, If it please the king, and if your servant have found favor in your sight, that you would send me to Judah, to the city of my fathers' sepulchers, that I may build it.

²³ Now therefore swear to me here by God that you will not deal falsely with me, nor with my son, nor with my son's son: But according to the kindness that I have done to you, you shall do to me, and to the land in which you have sojourned."

³ And I will make you swear by the LORD, the God of heaven, and the God of the earth, that you shall not take a wife to my son of the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I dwell:

²⁶ And the man bowed down his head, and worshiped the LORD.

²⁹ And the time drew near that Israel must die: And he called his son Joseph, and said to him, "If now I have found grace in your sight, put, I implore you, your hand under my thigh, and deal kindly and truly with me; do not bury me, I implore you, in Egypt:

¹ And it came to pass after these things, that one told Joseph, "Behold, your father is sick": And he took his two sons with him, Manasseh and Ephraim. ² And one told Jacob, and said, "Behold, your son Joseph comes to you": And Israel strengthened himself, and sat up on the bed.

²¹ By faith Jacob, when he was dying, blessed both of the sons of Joseph; and worshiped, leaning upon the top of his staff.
