¹⁰ Then Paul, after the governor had beckoned to him to speak, answered, "In as much as I know that you have been a judge to this nation for many years, I do all the more cheerfully answer for myself:

²⁵ If one man sins against another, the judge shall judge him: But if a man sins against the LORD, who shall earnestly pray for him?" Nevertheless they did not hearken to the voice of their father, because the LORD would slay them.

¹⁴ And He said to him, "Man, who made Me a judge or a divider over you?"

² saying, "There was a judge in a city, who did not fear God, nor regarded man:

¹⁷ But he, beckoning to them with the hand to hold their peace, declared to them how the Lord had brought him out of the prison. And he said, "Go report these things to James, and to the brethren." And he departed, and went into another place.

¹⁶ Then Paul stood up, and motioning with his hand said, "Men of Israel, and you that fear God, give audience.

¹⁵ But if it is a question of words and names, and of your law, look to it yourselves; for I will not be a judge of such matters."

³³ And they drew Alexander out of the multitude, the Jews putting him forward. And Alexander beckoned with his hand, and would have made his defense to the people.

⁴⁰ Now when he had given him license, Paul stood on the stairs, and beckoned with the hand to the people. And when a great silence was made, he spoke to them in the Hebrew tongue, saying,

²⁴ and provide for them beasts, that they may set Paul upon, and bring him safe to Felix the governor."

¹ Then Agrippa said to Paul, "You are permitted to speak for yourself." Then Paul stretched forth his hand, and answered for himself:

¹⁵ But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: And always be ready to give an answer to every man that asks you a reason for the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:
