¹ And David consulted with the captains of thousands and hundreds, and with every leader. ² And David said to all the congregation of Israel, If it seem good to you, and that it be of the LORD our God, let us send abroad to our brothers everywhere, that are left in all the land of Israel, and with them also to the priests and Levites which are in their cities and suburbs, that they may gather themselves to us: ³ And let us bring again the ark of our God to us: For we inquired not at it in the days of Saul. ⁴ And all the congregation said that they would do so: For the thing was right in the eyes of all the people. ⁵ So David gathered all Israel together, from Shihor of Egypt even to the entering of Hemath, to bring the ark of God from Kirjathjearim. ⁶ And David went up, and all Israel, to Baalah, that is, to Kirjathjearim, which belonged to Judah, to bring up there the ark of God the LORD, that dwells between the cherubims, whose name is called on it. ⁷ And they carried the ark of God in a new cart out of the house of Abinadab: And Uzza and Ahio drove the cart. ⁸ And David and all Israel played before God with all their might, and with singing, and with harps, and with psalteries, and with tambourines, and with cymbals, and with trumpets. ⁹ And when they came to the threshing floor of Chidon, Uzza put forth his hand to hold the ark; for the oxen stumbled. ¹⁰ And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Uzza, and he smote him, because he put his hand to the ark: And there he died before God. ¹¹ And David was displeased, because the LORD had made a breach on Uzza: Why that place is called Perezuzza to this day. ¹² And David was afraid of God that day, saying, "How shall I bring the ark of God home to me? ¹³ So David brought not the ark home to himself to the city of David, but carried it aside into the house of Obededom the Gittite. ¹⁴ And the ark of God remained with the family of Obededom in his house three months. And the LORD blessed the house of Obededom, and all that he had.

¹ Again, David gathered together all the chosen men of Israel, thirty thousand.

¹ And the king sent, and they gathered to him all the elders of Judah and of Jerusalem.

¹⁴ These were of the sons of Gad, captains of the host: One of the least was over a hundred, and the greatest over a thousand.

²⁰ As he went to Ziklag, there fell to him of Manasseh, Adnah, and Jozabad, and Jediael, and Michael, and Jozabad, and Elihu, and Zilthai, captains of the thousands that were of Manasseh.

³² And of the children of Issachar, which were men that had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do; the heads of them were two hundred; and all their brothers were at their commandment.

²⁰ Then Hezekiah the king rose early, and gathered the rulers of the city, and went up to the house of the LORD.

²⁹ Then the king sent and gathered together all the elders of Judah and Jerusalem. ³⁰ And the king went up into the house of the LORD, and all the men of Judah, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and the priests, and the Levites, and all the people, great and small: And he read in their ears all the words of the book of the covenant that was found in the house of the LORD.

²³ If you shall do this thing, and God command you so, then you shall be able to endure, and all this people shall also go to their place in peace."

⁴ This shall be the service of the sons of Kohath in the tabernacle of the congregation, about the most holy things: ⁵ And when the camp sets forward, Aaron shall come, and his sons, and they shall take down the covering veil, and cover the ark of testimony with it: ⁶ And shall put on it the covering of badgers' skins, and shall spread over it a cloth wholly of blue, and shall put in its staffs. ⁷ And on the table of show-bread they shall spread a cloth of blue, and put on it the dishes, and the spoons, and the bowls, and covers to cover with: And the continual bread shall be on it: ⁸ And they shall spread on them a cloth of scarlet, and cover the same with a covering of badgers' skins, and shall put in its staffs. ⁹ And they shall take a cloth of blue, and cover the candlestick of the light, and his lamps, and his tongs, and his fire-pans, and all the oil vessels of it, with which they minister to it: ¹⁰ And they shall put it and all its vessels within a covering of badgers' skins, and shall put it on a bar. ¹¹ And on the golden altar they shall spread a cloth of blue, and cover it with a covering of badgers' skins, and shall put to its staffs: ¹² And they shall take all the instruments of ministry, with which they minister in the sanctuary, and put them in a cloth of blue, and cover them with a covering of badgers' skins, and shall put them on a bar: ¹³ And they shall take away the ashes from the altar, and spread a purple cloth on it: ¹⁴ And they shall put on it all its vessels, with which they minister about it, even the censers, the flesh-hooks, and the shovels, and the basins, all the vessels of the altar; and they shall spread on it a covering of badgers' skins, and put to the staffs of it. ¹⁵ And when Aaron and his sons have made an end of covering the sanctuary, and all the vessels of the sanctuary, as the camp is to set forward; after that, the sons of Kohath shall come to bear it: But they shall not touch any holy thing, lest they die. These things are the burden of the sons of Kohath in the tabernacle of the congregation. ¹⁶ And to the office of Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest pertains the oil for the light, and the sweet incense, and the daily food offering, and the anointing oil, and the oversight of all the tabernacle, and of all that in it is, in the sanctuary, and in its vessels. ¹⁷ And the LORD spoke to Moses and to Aaron saying, ¹⁸ cut you not off the tribe of the families of the Kohathites from among the Levites: ¹⁹ But thus do to them, that they may live, and not die, when they approach to the most holy things: Aaron and his sons shall go in, and appoint them every one to his service and to his burden: ²⁰ But they shall not go in to see when the holy things are covered, lest they die.

² command the children of Israel, that they give to the Levites of the inheritance of their possession cities to dwell in; and you shall give also to the Levites suburbs for the cities all around them. ³ And the cities shall they have to dwell in; and the suburbs of them shall be for their domestic beasts, and for their goods, and for all their beasts. ⁴ And the suburbs of the cities, which you shall give to the Levites, shall reach from the wall of the city and outward a thousand cubits all around. ⁵ And you shall measure from outside the city on the east side two thousand cubits, and on the south side two thousand cubits, and on the west side two thousand cubits, and on the north side two thousand cubits; and the city shall be in the middle: This shall be to them the suburbs of the cities. ⁶ And among the cities which you shall give to the Levites there shall be six cities for refuge, which you shall appoint for the manslayer, that he may flee thither: And to them you shall add forty and two cities. ⁷ So all the cities which you shall give to the Levites shall be forty and eight cities: Them shall you give with their suburbs. ⁸ And the cities which you shall give shall be of the possession of the children of Israel: From those that have many you shall give many; but from those that have few you shall give few: Every one shall give of his cities to the Levites according to his inheritance which he inherits. ⁹ And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

¹ Now the Philistines fought against Israel: And the men of Israel fled from before the Philistines, and fell down slain in Mount Gilboa.

² that the king said to Nathan the prophet, See now, I dwell in a house of cedar, but the ark of God dwells within curtains. ³ And Nathan said to the king, Go, do all that is in your heart; for the LORD is with you. ⁴ And it came to pass that night, that the word of the LORD came to Nathan, saying, ⁵ go and tell my servant David, Thus says the LORD, Shall you build me a house for me to dwell in?

⁷ And they spoke to him, saying, "If you will be a servant to this people this day, and will serve them, and answer them, and speak good words to them, then they will be your servants forever.

⁵⁴ Now these are their dwelling places throughout their castles in their coasts, of the sons of Aaron, of the families of the Kohathites: For theirs was the lot. ⁵⁵ And they gave them Hebron in the land of Judah, and its suburbs all around it. ⁵⁶ But the fields of the city, and its villages, they gave to Caleb the son of Jephunneh. ⁵⁷ And to the sons of Aaron they gave the cities of Judah, namely, Hebron, the city of refuge, and Libnah with her suburbs, and Jattir, and Eshtemoa, with their suburbs, ⁵⁸ and Hilen with her suburbs, Debir with her suburbs, ⁵⁹ and Ashan with her suburbs, and Bethshemesh with her suburbs: ⁶⁰ And out of the tribe of Benjamin; Geba with her suburbs, and Alemeth with her suburbs, and Anathoth with her suburbs. All their cities throughout their families were thirteen cities. ⁶¹ And to the sons of Kohath, which were left of the family of that tribe, were cities given out of the half tribe, namely, out of the half tribe of Manasseh, by lot, ten cities. ⁶² And to the sons of Gershom throughout their families out of the tribe of Issachar, and out of the tribe of Asher, and out of the tribe of Naphtali, and out of the tribe of Manasseh in Bashan, thirteen cities. ⁶³ To the sons of Merari were given by lot, throughout their families, out of the tribe of Reuben, and out of the tribe of Gad, and out of the tribe of Zebulun, twelve cities. ⁶⁴ And the children of Israel gave to the Levites these cities with their suburbs. ⁶⁵ And they gave by lot out of the tribe of the children of Judah, and out of the tribe of the children of Simeon, and out of the tribe of the children of Benjamin, these cities, which are called by their names. ⁶⁶ And the residue of the families of the sons of Kohath had cities of their coasts out of the tribe of Ephraim. ⁶⁷ And they gave to them, of the cities of refuge, Shechem in Mount Ephraim with her suburbs; they gave also Gezer with her suburbs, ⁶⁸ and Jokmeam with her suburbs, and Bethhoron with her suburbs, ⁶⁹ and Aijalon with her suburbs, and Gathrimmon with her suburbs: ⁷⁰ And out of the half tribe of Manasseh; Aner with her suburbs, and Bileam with her suburbs, for the family of the remnant of the sons of Kohath. ⁷¹ To the sons of Gershom were given out of the family of the half tribe of Manasseh, Golan in Bashan with her suburbs, and Ashtaroth with her suburbs: ⁷² And out of the tribe of Issachar; Kedesh with her suburbs, Daberath with her suburbs, ⁷³ and Ramoth with her suburbs, and Anem with her suburbs: ⁷⁴ And out of the tribe of Asher; Mashal with her suburbs, and Abdon with her suburbs, ⁷⁵ and Hukok with her suburbs, and Rehob with her suburbs: ⁷⁶ And out of the tribe of Naphtali; Kedesh in Galilee with her suburbs, and Hammon with her suburbs, and Kirjathaim with her suburbs. ⁷⁷ To the rest of the children of Merari were given out of the tribe of Zebulun, Rimmon with her suburbs, Tabor with her suburbs: ⁷⁸ And on the other side of the Jordan by Jericho, on the east side of Jordan, were given them out of the tribe of Reuben, Bezer in the wilderness with her suburbs, and Jahzah with her suburbs, ⁷⁹ kedemoth also with her suburbs, and Mephaath with her suburbs: ⁸⁰ And out of the tribe of Gad; Ramoth in Gilead with her suburbs, and Mahanaim with her suburbs, ⁸¹ and Heshbon with her suburbs, and Jazer with her suburbs.

⁷ And when all the men of Israel that were in the valley saw that they fled, and that Saul and his sons were dead, then they forsook their cities, and fled: And the Philistines came and dwelled in them.

² Then David said, "None ought to carry the ark of God but the Levites: For them has the LORD chosen to carry the ark of God, and to minister to him forever. ³ And David gathered all Israel together to Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of the LORD to his place, which he had prepared for it. ⁴ And David assembled the children of Aaron, and the Levites: ⁵ Of the sons of Kohath; Uriel the chief, and his brothers a hundred and twenty: ⁶ Of the sons of Merari; Asaiah the chief, and his brothers two hundred and twenty: ⁷ Of the sons of Gershom; Joel the chief and his brothers a hundred and thirty: ⁸ Of the sons of Elizaphan; Shemaiah the chief, and his brothers two hundred: ⁹ Of the sons of Hebron; Eliel the chief, and his brothers eighty: ¹⁰ Of the sons of Uzziel; Amminadab the chief, and his brothers a hundred and twelve. ¹¹ And David called for Zadok and Abiathar the priests, and for the Levites, for Uriel, Asaiah, and Joel, Shemaiah, and Eliel, and Amminadab, ¹² and said to them, "You are the chief of the fathers of the Levites: Sanctify yourselves, both you and your brothers, that you may bring up the ark of the LORD God of Israel to the place that I have prepared for it. ¹³ For because you did it not at the first, the LORD our God made a breach on us, for that we sought him not after the due order. ¹⁴ So the priests and the Levites sanctified themselves to bring up the ark of the LORD God of Israel.

⁴ Moreover he commanded the people that dwelled in Jerusalem to give the portion of the priests and the Levites, that they might be encouraged in the law of the LORD. ⁵ And as soon as the commandment came abroad, the children of Israel brought in abundance the firstfruits of grain, wine, and oil, and honey, and of all the increase of the field; and the tithe of all things brought they in abundantly. ⁶ And concerning the children of Israel and Judah, that dwelled in the cities of Judah, they also brought in the tithe of oxen and sheep, and the tithe of holy things which were consecrated to the LORD their God, and laid them by heaps. ⁷ In the third month they began to lay the foundation of the heaps, and finished them in the seventh month. ⁸ And when Hezekiah and the princes came and saw the heaps, they blessed the LORD, and his people Israel. ⁹ Then Hezekiah questioned with the priests and the Levites concerning the heaps. ¹⁰ And Azariah the chief priest of the house of Zadok answered him, and said, "Since the people began to bring the offerings into the house of the LORD, we have had enough to eat, and have left plenty: For the LORD has blessed his people; and that which is left is this great store. ¹¹ Then Hezekiah commanded to prepare chambers in the house of the LORD; and they prepared them, ¹² and brought in the offerings and the tithes and the dedicated things faithfully: Over which Cononiah the Levite was ruler, and Shimei his brother was the next. ¹³ And Jehiel, and Azaziah, and Nahath, and Asahel, and Jerimoth, and Jozabad, and Eliel, and Ismachiah, and Mahath, and Benaiah, were overseers under the hand of Cononiah and Shimei his brother, at the commandment of Hezekiah the king, and Azariah the ruler of the house of God. ¹⁴ And Kore the son of Imnah the Levite, the porter toward the east, was over the freewill offerings of God, to distribute the oblations of the LORD, and the most holy things. ¹⁵ And next him were Eden, and Miniamin, and Jeshua, and Shemaiah, Amariah, and Shecaniah, in the cities of the priests, in their set office, to give to their brothers by courses, as well to the great as to the small: ¹⁶ Beside their genealogy of males, from three years old and upward, even to everyone that enters into the house of the LORD, his daily portion for their service in their charges according to their courses; ¹⁷ both to the genealogy of the priests by the house of their fathers, and the Levites from twenty years old and upward, in their charges by their courses; ¹⁸ and to the genealogy of all their little ones, their wives, and their sons, and their daughters, through all the congregation: For in their set office they sanctified themselves in holiness: ¹⁹ Also of the sons of Aaron the priests, which were in the fields of the suburbs of their cities, in every several city, the men that were expressed by name, to give portions to all the males among the priests, and to all that were reckoned by genealogies among the Levites. ²⁰ And thus did Hezekiah throughout all Judah, and worked that which was good and right and truth before the LORD his God. ²¹ And in every work that he began in the service of the house of God, and in the law, and in the commandments, to seek his God, he did it with all his heart, and prospered.

²² Without counsel purposes are disappointed: But in the multitude of counsellors they are established.

⁴ It may be the LORD your God will hear the words of Rabshakeh, whom the king of Assyria his master has sent to reproach the living God, and will reprove the words which the LORD your God has heard: Therefore lift up your prayer for the remnant that is left.' "

⁸ Therefore, although I might often be bold in Christ to admonish you in that which is proper, ⁹ yet for love's sake I rather beseech you, being such a one as Paul the aged, and now also a prisoner of Jesus Christ.

¹ And the men of Kirjath-Jearim came, and took up the ark of the LORD, and brought it into the house of Abinadab in the hill, and sanctified Eleazar his son to keep the ark of the LORD. ² And it came to pass, while the ark abode in Kirjath-Jearim, that the time was long; for it was twenty years: And all the house of Israel lamenteded after the LORD.

¹⁸ And Saul said to Ahiah, "Bring here the ark of God." For the ark of God was at that time with the children of Israel.

³⁶ And Saul said, "Let us go down after the Philistines by night, and spoil them until the morning light, and let us not leave a man of them." And they said, "Do whatever seems good to you." Then the priest said, "Let us draw near here to God."

¹⁰ And he inquired of the LORD for him, and gave him food, and gave him the sword of Goliath the Philistine."

¹⁵ Did I then begin to inquire of God for him? Be it far from me: Let not the king impute anything to his servant, nor to all the house of my father: For your servant knew nothing of all this, less or more."

² Therefore David inquired of the LORD, saying, "Shall I go and smite these Philistines?" And the LORD said to David, "Go, and smite the Philistines, and save Keilah."

⁹ And David knew that Saul secretly practiced mischief against him; and he said to Abiathar the priest, "Bring here the ephod." ¹⁰ Then David said, "O LORD God of Israel, your servant has certainly heard that Saul seeks to come to Keilah, to destroy the city for my sake. ¹¹ Will the men of Keilah deliver me up into his hand? Will Saul come down, as your servant has heard? O LORD God of Israel, I beseech You, tell Your servant." And the LORD said, "He will come down." ¹² Then David said, "Will the men of Keilah deliver me and my men into the hand of Saul?" And the LORD said, "They will deliver you up."

⁶ Lo, we heard of it at Ephratah: We found it in the fields of the woods.

²⁰ And Michal Saul's daughter loved David: And they told Saul, and the thing pleased him.

³⁶ And all the people took notice of it, and it pleased them: As whatever the king did pleased all the people.

⁴ And the thing pleased the king and all the congregation.

⁵ and said, "If it please the king, and if I have found favor in his sight, and the thing seem right before the king, and I be pleasing in his eyes, let it be written to reverse the letters devised by Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, which he wrote to destroy the Jews which are in all the king's provinces:

⁵ And the border shall fetch a compass from Azmon to the river of Egypt, and the goings out of it shall be at the sea. ⁶ And as for the western border, you shall even have the great sea for a border: This shall be your west border. ⁷ And this shall be your north border: From the great sea you shall point out for you Mount Hor: ⁸ From Mount Hor you shall point out your border to the entrance of Hamath; and the goings forth of the border shall be to Zedad:

³ from Sihor, which is before Egypt, even to the borders of Ekron northward, which is counted to the Canaanite: Five lords of the Philistines; the Gazathites, and the Ashdothites, the Eshkalonites, the Gittites, and the Ekronites; also the Avites: ⁴ From the south, all the land of the Canaanites, and Mearah that is beside the Sidonians to Aphek, to the borders of the Amorites: ⁵ And the land of the Giblites, and all Lebanon, toward the sun rise, from Baalgad under Mount Hermon to the entering into Hamath. ⁶ All the inhabitants of the hill country from Lebanon to Misrephothmaim, and all the Sidonians, them will I drive out from before the children of Israel: Only divide you it by lot to the Israelites for an inheritance, as I have commanded you.

²¹ And they sent messengers to the inhabitants of Kirjath-Jearim, saying, "The Philistines have brought back the ark of the LORD; you come down, and bring it up to you."

²¹ And Solomon reigned over all kingdoms from the river to the land of the Philistines, and to the border of Egypt: They brought presents, and served Solomon all the days of his life.

⁶⁵ And at that time Solomon held a feast, and all Israel with him, a great congregation, from the entering in of Hamath to the river of Egypt, before the LORD our God, seven days and seven days, even fourteen days.

²¹ And the king of Babylon smote them, and slew them at Riblah in the land of Hamath. So Judah was carried away out of their land.

⁶ And David went up, and all Israel, to Baalah, that is, to Kirjathjearim, which belonged to Judah, to bring up there the ark of God the LORD, that dwells between the cherubims, whose name is called on it.

³ And David gathered all Israel together to Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of the LORD to his place, which he had prepared for it.

¹⁸ And now what have you to do in the way of Egypt, to drink the waters of Sihor? Or what have you to do in the way of Assyria, to drink the waters of the river?

²⁴ You shall make to Me an altar of earth, and shall sacrifice your burnt offerings on it, and your peace offerings, your sheep, and your oxen: In all places where I record My name I will come to you, and I will bless you.

²¹ Beware of him, and obey his voice, do not provoke him; for he will not pardon your transgressions: For My name is in him.

²² And there I will meet with you, and I will commune with you from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubims which are upon the ark of the testimony, of all things which I will give you in commandment to the children of Israel.

²⁷ And they shall put my name on the children of Israel, and I will bless them.

⁸⁹ And when Moses was gone into the tabernacle of the congregation to speak with him, then he heard the voice of one speaking to him from off the mercy seat that was on the ark of testimony, from between the two cherubims: And he spoke to him.

⁹ And the border was drawn from the top of the hill to the fountain of the water of Nephtoah, and went out to the cities of Mount Ephron; and the border was drawn to Baalah, which is Kirjathjearim:

⁶⁰ Kirjathbaal, which is Kirjathjearim, and Rabbah; two cities with their villages:

⁴ So the people sent to Shiloh, that they might bring the ark of the covenant of the LORD of hosts from there, which dwells between the cherubims: And the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, were there with the ark of the covenant of God.

² And David arose, and went with all the people that were with him from Baale of Judah, to bring up from there the ark of God, whose name is called by the name of the LORD of hosts that dwells between the cherubims. ³ And they set the ark of God on a new cart, and brought it out of the house of Abinadab that was in Gibeah: And Uzzah and Ahio, the sons of Abinadab, drove the new cart. ⁴ And they brought it out of the house of Abinadab which was at Gibeah, accompanying the ark of God: And Ahio went before the ark. ⁵ And David and all the house of Israel played before the LORD on all manner of instruments made of fir wood, even on harps, and on psalteries, and on tambourines, and on cornets, and on cymbals. ⁶ And when they came to Nachon's threshing floor, Uzzah put forth his hand to the ark of God, and took hold of it; for the oxen shook it. ⁷ And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Uzzah; and God smote him there for his error; and there he died by the ark of God. ⁸ And David was displeased, because the LORD had made a breach on Uzzah: And he called the name of the place Perezuzzah to this day. ⁹ And David was afraid of the LORD that day, and said, "How shall the ark of the LORD come to me? ¹⁰ So David would not remove the ark of the LORD to him into the city of David: But David carried it aside into the house of Obededom the Gittite. ¹¹ And the ark of the LORD continued in the house of Obededom the Gittite three months: And the LORD blessed Obededom, and all his household.

¹⁶ since the day that I brought forth my people Israel out of Egypt, I chose no city out of all the tribes of Israel to build a house, that my name might be in it; but I chose David to be over my people Israel.

¹⁵ And Hezekiah prayed before the LORD, and said, "O LORD God of Israel, which dwell between the cherubims, you are the God, even you alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth; you have made heaven and earth.

¹ To the chief Musician upon Shoshannimeduth, A Psalm of Asaph. Give ear, O Shepherd of Israel, You that lead Joseph like a flock; You that dwell between the cherubims, shine forth.

¹ The LORD reigns; let the people tremble: He sits between the cherubims; let the earth be moved.

¹⁶ "O LORD of hosts, God of Israel, who dwells between the cherubims, You are the God, even You alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth: You have made heaven and earth.

¹⁵ And when Aaron and his sons have made an end of covering the sanctuary, and all the vessels of the sanctuary, as the camp is to set forward; after that, the sons of Kohath shall come to bear it: But they shall not touch any holy thing, lest they die. ⁷ Now therefore make a new cart, and take two milk cows, on which there has come no yoke, and tie the cows to the cart, and bring their calves home from them:

³ And they set the ark of God on a new cart, and brought it out of the house of Abinadab that was in Gibeah: And Uzzah and Ahio, the sons of Abinadab, drove the new cart.

⁵ And David and all the house of Israel played before the LORD on all manner of instruments made of fir wood, even on harps, and on psalteries, and on tambourines, and on cornets, and on cymbals. ⁶ And when they came to Nachon's threshing floor, Uzzah put forth his hand to the ark of God, and took hold of it; for the oxen shook it. ⁷ And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Uzzah; and God smote him there for his error; and there he died by the ark of God. ⁸ And David was displeased, because the LORD had made a breach on Uzzah: And he called the name of the place Perezuzzah to this day. ⁹ And David was afraid of the LORD that day, and said, "How shall the ark of the LORD come to me? ¹⁰ So David would not remove the ark of the LORD to him into the city of David: But David carried it aside into the house of Obededom the Gittite. ¹¹ And the ark of the LORD continued in the house of Obededom the Gittite three months: And the LORD blessed Obededom, and all his household. ¹² And it was told king David, saying, "The LORD has blessed the house of Obededom, and all that pertains to him, because of the ark of God. So David went and brought up the ark of God from the house of Obededom into the city of David with gladness. ¹³ And it was so, that when those that bore the ark of the LORD had gone six paces, he sacrificed oxen and fatted calves. ¹⁴ And David danced before the LORD with all his might; and David was girded with a linen ephod. ¹⁵ So David and all the house of Israel brought up the ark of the LORD with shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet. ¹⁶ And as the ark of the LORD came into the city of David, Michal Saul's daughter looked through a window, and saw king David leaping and dancing before the LORD; and she despised him in her heart. ¹⁷ And they brought in the ark of the LORD, and set it in his place, in the middle of the tabernacle that David had pitched for it: And David offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before the LORD. ¹⁸ And as soon as David had made an end of offering burnt offerings and peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the LORD of hosts. ¹⁹ And he dealt among all the people, even among the whole multitude of Israel, as well to the women as men, to every one a cake of bread, and a good piece of flesh, and a flagon of wine. So all the people departed every one to his house. ²⁰ Then David returned to bless his household. And Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David, and said, "How glorious was the king of Israel today, who uncovered himself today in the eyes of the handmaids of his servants, as one of the vain fellows shamelessly uncovers himself! ²¹ And David said to Michal, "It was before the LORD, which chose me before your father, and before all his house, to appoint me ruler over the people of the LORD, over Israel: Therefore I will play before the LORD. ²² And I will yet be more vile than thus, and will be base in my own sight: And of the maidservants which you have spoken of, of them shall I be had in honor. ²³ Therefore Michal the daughter of Saul had no child to the day of her death.

¹⁵ But now bring me a minstrel. And it came to pass, when the minstrel played, that the hand of the LORD came on him.

¹⁰ Of the sons of Uzziel; Amminadab the chief, and his brothers a hundred and twelve. ¹¹ And David called for Zadok and Abiathar the priests, and for the Levites, for Uriel, Asaiah, and Joel, Shemaiah, and Eliel, and Amminadab, ¹² and said to them, "You are the chief of the fathers of the Levites: Sanctify yourselves, both you and your brothers, that you may bring up the ark of the LORD God of Israel to the place that I have prepared for it. ¹³ For because you did it not at the first, the LORD our God made a breach on us, for that we sought him not after the due order. ¹⁴ So the priests and the Levites sanctified themselves to bring up the ark of the LORD God of Israel. ¹⁵ And the children of the Levites bore the ark of God on their shoulders with the staffs on it, as Moses commanded according to the word of the LORD. ¹⁶ And David spoke to the chief of the Levites to appoint their brothers to be the singers with instruments of music, psalteries and harps and cymbals, sounding, by lifting up the voice with joy. ¹⁷ So the Levites appointed Heman the son of Joel; and of his brothers, Asaph the son of Berechiah; and of the sons of Merari their brothers, Ethan the son of Kushaiah; ¹⁸ and with them their brothers of the second degree, Zechariah, Ben, and Jaaziel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehiel, and Unni, Eliab, and Benaiah, and Maaseiah, and Mattithiah, and Elipheleh, and Mikneiah, and Obededom, and Jeiel, the porters. ¹⁹ So the singers, Heman, Asaph, and Ethan, were appointed to sound with cymbals of brass; ²⁰ and Zechariah, and Aziel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehiel, and Unni, and Eliab, and Maaseiah, and Benaiah, with psalteries on Alamoth; ²¹ and Mattithiah, and Elipheleh, and Mikneiah, and Obededom, and Jeiel, and Azaziah, with harps on the Sheminith to excel. ²² And Chenaniah, chief of the Levites, was for song: He instructed about the song, because he was skillful. ²³ And Berechiah and Elkanah were doorkeepers for the ark. ²⁴ And Shebaniah, and Jehoshaphat, and Nethaneel, and Amasai, and Zechariah, and Benaiah, and Eliezer, the priests, did blow with the trumpets before the ark of God: And Obededom and Jehiah were doorkeepers for the ark.

²⁸ Thus all Israel brought up the ark of the covenant of the LORD with shouting, and with sound of the cornet, and with trumpets, and with cymbals, making a noise with psalteries and harps.

⁵ Asaph the chief, and next to him Zechariah, Jeiel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehiel, and Mattithiah, and Eliab, and Benaiah, and Obededom: And Jeiel with psalteries and with harps; but Asaph made a sound with cymbals;

⁴² and with them Heman and Jeduthun with trumpets and cymbals for those that should make a sound, and with musical instruments of God. And the sons of Jeduthun were porters.

⁵ Moreover four thousand were porters; and four thousand praised the LORD with the instruments which I made, said David, to praise therewith.

¹ Moreover David and the captains of the host separated to the service of the sons of Asaph, and of Heman, and of Jeduthun, who should prophesy with harps, with psalteries, and with cymbals: And the number of the workmen according to their service was: ² Of the sons of Asaph; Zaccur, and Joseph, and Nethaniah, and Asarelah, the sons of Asaph under the hands of Asaph, which prophesied according to the order of the king. ³ Of Jeduthun: The sons of Jeduthun; Gedaliah, and Zeri, and Jeshaiah, Hashabiah, and Mattithiah, six, under the hands of their father Jeduthun, who prophesied with a harp, to give thanks and to praise the LORD. ⁴ Of Heman: The sons of Heman: Bukkiah, Mattaniah, Uzziel, Shebuel, and Jerimoth, Hananiah, Hanani, Eliathah, Giddalti, and Romamtiezer, Joshbekashah, Mallothi, Hothir, and Mahazioth: ⁵ All these were the sons of Heman the king's seer in the words of God, to lift up the horn. And God gave to Heman fourteen sons and three daughters. ⁶ All these were under the hands of their father for song in the house of the LORD, with cymbals, psalteries, and harps, for the service of the house of God, according to the king's order to Asaph, Jeduthun, and Heman.

⁵ God has gone up with a shout, the LORD with the sound of a trumpet.

²⁵ The singers went before, the players on instruments followed after; among them were the damsels playing with tambourines. ²⁶ Bless You God in the congregations, even the Lord, from the fountain of Israel. ²⁷ There is little Benjamin with their ruler, the princes of Judah and their council, the princes of Zebulun, and the princes of Naphtali.

³ Praise Him with the sound of the trumpet: Praise Him with the psaltery and harp. ⁴ Praise Him with the timbrel and dance: Praise Him with stringed instruments and organs. ⁵ Praise Him upon the loud cymbals: Praise Him upon the high sounding cymbals.

⁵ that at what time you hear the sound of the horn, flute, harp, sackbut trumpet, psaltery, dulcimer, and all kinds of music, you fall down and worship the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king has set up: ⁶ And whoever does not fall down and worship shall in the same hour be cast into the midst of a burning fiery furnace." ⁷ Therefore at that time, when all the people heard the sound of the horn, flute, harp, sackbut trumpet, psaltery, and all kinds of music, all the people, the nations, and the languages, fell down and worshiped the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up.

²³ Take away the noise of your songs from Me; for I will not hear the melody of your viols.

⁵ that chant to the sound of the viol, and invent instruments of music for themselves, like David; ⁶ And when they came to Nachon's threshing floor, Uzzah put forth his hand to the ark of God, and took hold of it; for the oxen shook it.

¹ And Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, took either of them his censer, and put fire in it, and put incense on it, and offered strange fire before the LORD, which he commanded them not. ² And there went out fire from the LORD, and devoured them, and they died before the LORD. ³ Then Moses said to Aaron, "This is it that the LORD spoke, saying, "I will be sanctified in them that come near me, and before all the people I will be glorified. And Aaron held his peace.

³⁵ And there came out a fire from the LORD, and consumed the two hundred and fifty men that offered incense.

⁶ And Joshua the son of Nun called the priests, and said to them, "Take up the ark of the covenant, and let seven priests carry seven trumpets of rams' horns before the ark of the LORD."

¹⁹ And He smote the men of Beth-Shemesh, because they had looked into the ark of the LORD, He even smote from the people fifty thousand and seventy men: And the people lamented, because the LORD had smote many of the people with a great slaughter.

¹⁵ And the children of the Levites bore the ark of God on their shoulders with the staffs on it, as Moses commanded according to the word of the LORD.

¹⁶ But when he was strong, his heart was lifted up to his destruction: For he transgressed against the LORD his God, and went into the temple of the LORD to burn incense on the altar of incense. ¹⁷ And Azariah the priest went in after him, and with him eighty priests of the LORD, that were valiant men: ¹⁸ And they withstood Uzziah the king, and said to him, "It appertains not to you, Uzziah, to burn incense to the LORD, but to the priests the sons of Aaron, that are consecrated to burn incense: Go out of the sanctuary; for you have trespassed; neither shall it be for your honor from the LORD God. ¹⁹ Then Uzziah was wroth, and had a censer in his hand to burn incense: And while he was wroth with the priests, the leprosy even rose up in his forehead before the priests in the house of the LORD, from beside the incense altar. ²⁰ And Azariah the chief priest, and all the priests, looked on him, and behold, he was leprous in his forehead, and they thrust him out from there; yes, himself hurried also to go out, because the LORD had smitten him.

³⁰ For this reason many are weak and sick among you, and many deceased. ³¹ For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged. ³² But when we are judged, we are chastened by the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.

³² Therefore the children of Israel do not eat of the sinew which shrank, which is upon the hollow of the thigh, to this day: Because he touched the hollow of Jacob's thigh in the sinew that shrank.

⁶ And he buried him in a valley in the land of Moab, in front of Bethpeor: But no man knows of his sepulcher to this day.

⁹ And Joshua set up twelve stones in the middle of Jordan, in the place where the feet of the priests which bore the ark of the covenant stood: And they are there to this day.

⁷ And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Uzzah; and God smote him there for his error; and there he died by the ark of God.

⁹ And David was afraid of the LORD that day, and said, "How shall the ark of the LORD come to me?

⁴ Then the LORD said, "Do you do well to be angry?"

⁹ And God said to Jonah, "Do you do well to be angry on account of the gourd?" And he said, "I do well to be angry, even to death."

¹² And the children of Israel spoke to Moses, saying, "Behold, we die, we perish, we all perish. ¹³ Whoever comes anything near to the tabernacle of the LORD shall die: Shall we be consumed with dying?

¹⁰ Therefore they sent the ark of God to Ekron. And it came to pass, as the ark of God came to Ekron, that the Ekronites cried out, saying, "They have brought around the ark of the God of Israel to us, to slay us and our people." ¹¹ So they sent and gathered together all the lords of the Philistines, and said, "Send away the ark of the God of Israel, and let it go again to his own place, that it does not slay us, and our people": For there was a deadly destruction throughout all the city: The hand of God was very heavy there.

²⁰ And the men of Beth-Shemesh said, "Who is able to stand before this holy LORD God? And to whom shall He go up from us?"

²⁷ But will God indeed dwell on the earth? Behold, the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain you; how much less this house that I have built?

⁵ Behold even to the moon, and it shines not; yes, the stars are not pure in his sight. ⁶ How much less man, that is a worm? And the son of man, which is a worm?

¹²⁰ My flesh trembles for fear of You; and I am afraid of Your judgments.

⁵ Then I said, "Woe is me! For I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: For my eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts."

²⁴ Then he who had received the one talent came and said, 'Lord, I knew that you are a hard man, reaping where you have not sown, and gathering where you have not scattered seed:

⁸ When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, "Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord." ⁹ For he was astonished, and all who were with him, at the draw of the fish which they had taken:

³ And the Beerothites fled to Gittaim, and were sojourners there until this day).

¹⁸ and with them their brothers of the second degree, Zechariah, Ben, and Jaaziel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehiel, and Unni, Eliab, and Benaiah, and Maaseiah, and Mattithiah, and Elipheleh, and Mikneiah, and Obededom, and Jeiel, the porters.

⁴ Moreover the sons of Obededom were, Shemaiah the firstborn, Jehozabad the second, Joah the third, and Sacar the fourth, and Nethaneel the fifth.

⁸ All these of the sons of Obededom: They and their sons and their brothers, able men for strength for the service, were three score and two of Obededom.

²⁷ And Laban said to him, "I implore you, if I have found favor in your eyes, tarry: For I have learned by experience that the LORD has blessed me for your sake."

⁵ And it came to pass from the time that he had made him overseer in his house, and over all that he had, that the LORD blessed the Egyptian's house for Joseph's sake; and the blessing of the LORD was upon all that he had in the house, and in the field.

⁴ Moreover the sons of Obededom were, Shemaiah the firstborn, Jehozabad the second, Joah the third, and Sacar the fourth, and Nethaneel the fifth. ⁵ Ammiel the sixth, Issachar the seventh, Peulthai the eighth: For God blessed him.

⁹ Honor the LORD with your substance, and with the firstfruits of all your increase: ¹⁰ So shall your barns be filled with plenty, and your presses shall burst out with new wine.

²² The blessing of the LORD, it makes rich, and He adds no sorrow with it.

¹⁰ Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, all of you, that there may be food in My house, and prove Me now with this", says the LORD of hosts, "if I will not open to you the windows of heaven, and pour out a blessing upon you, such that there shall not be room enough to receive it. ¹¹ And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the harvest time in the field", says the LORD of hosts.
