Hebrews 8 Cross References - Sawyer

1 (3:1) BUT the chief thing in addition to what has been said is, that we have such a chief priest who sat on the right hand of the throne of the majesty in the heavens, 2 a minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord set up, not man. 3 For every chief priest is constituted to offer gifts and sacrifices, whence it was necessary that this man also should have something to offer. 4 For if he had been on earth he would not have been a priest, there being priests to offer, the gifts according to the law, 5 who serve for a symbol and shadow of heavenly things, as Moses was divinely instructed when about to make the tabernacle; for see, he says, that you make all things after the pattern shown you in the Mount; 6 but now he has obtained a more excellent service, by as much also as he is the mediator of a better covenant, which is established on better promises. 7 (3:2) For if that first covenant had been faultless, no place would have been sought for the second. [But it was not]. 8 For finding fault with them he says, Behold, the days come, says the Lord, that I will make with the house of Israel and the house of Judah, a new covenant, 9 not according to the covenant which I made with their fathers, in the day that I took them by the hand to lead them out of Egypt, for they continued not in my covenant, and I neglected them, says the Lord. 10 This is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord; I will put my laws in their minds, and will write them in their hearts, and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people. 11 And they shall not teach every one his [fellow] citizen, and every one his brother, saying, Know the Lord, for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest of them. 12 For I will be merciful to their wickedness, and their sins and transgressions will I remember no more. 13 By saying new, he made the first old; but that which is ancient and weak is about to perish.

Galatians 3:15-19

15 (2:3) Brothers, I speak according to man. But no one abolishes a man's covenant when it is established, or makes additions to it. 16 The promises were spoken to Abraham and his offspring. He said not, And to offsprings, as of many, but as of one, And to your offspring, which is Christ.

Galatians 3:16-19

16 The promises were spoken to Abraham and his offspring. He said not, And to offsprings, as of many, but as of one, And to your offspring, which is Christ. 17 And this I say; that the law which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot abrogate the covenant previously established by God, to make the promise of no effect.

Galatians 3:17-19

17 And this I say; that the law which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot abrogate the covenant previously established by God, to make the promise of no effect. 18 For if the inheritance is by the law, it is no longer by the promise. But God gave it to Abraham by the promise.

Galatians 3:18-19

18 For if the inheritance is by the law, it is no longer by the promise. But God gave it to Abraham by the promise. 19 What then? The law was added on account of transgressions, till the offspring should come to which the promise was made, being appointed by angels by the hand of a mediator.

Galatians 3:19-19

19 What then? The law was added on account of transgressions, till the offspring should come to which the promise was made, being appointed by angels by the hand of a mediator. 20 But there is no mediator of one; but God is one. 21 (2:4) Is the law then against the promises of God? By no means. For if a law had been given, able to give life, righteousness would really have been by the law;

Galatians 3:21

21 (2:4) Is the law then against the promises of God? By no means. For if a law had been given, able to give life, righteousness would really have been by the law;

11 (2:8) If therefore there was perfection through the Levitical priesthood,—for the people received the law under it,—what need was there that another priest should arise after the order of Melchisedec and not to be called after the order of Aaron?

Hebrews 7:11-12

11 (2:8) If therefore there was perfection through the Levitical priesthood,—for the people received the law under it,—what need was there that another priest should arise after the order of Melchisedec and not to be called after the order of Aaron? 12 For the priesthood being changed, of necessity also there is made a change of the law.

Hebrews 7:12-12

12 For the priesthood being changed, of necessity also there is made a change of the law. 13 For he of whom these things are said belonged to another tribe, of which no one attended to the altar; 14 for it is evident that our Lord arose from Judah, in respect to which tribe Moses said nothing concerning priests. 15 And moreover, [this] is still further evident, if another priest is raised up according to the likeness of Melchisedec,

Hebrews 7:27

27 who has no need daily as the chief priests first to present sacrifices for their sins, then for those of the people; for this he did once for all, having offered himself. 28 For the law constitutes men chief priests having infirmity, but the word of the oath which is after the law the Son made perfect forever.

Hebrews 8:6

6 but now he has obtained a more excellent service, by as much also as he is the mediator of a better covenant, which is established on better promises.

Hebrews 9:8-12

9 which is a type of the time at hand, in which gifts and sacrifices are offered that cannot perfect the worshipper as to the conscience,

Hebrews 9:9-10

9 which is a type of the time at hand, in which gifts and sacrifices are offered that cannot perfect the worshipper as to the conscience, 10 only in meats and drinks and different baptisms, and external ordinances, imposed till the time of reformation.

Hebrews 9:10-10

10 only in meats and drinks and different baptisms, and external ordinances, imposed till the time of reformation. 11 (3:5) But Christ having come, a chief priest of the good times that were to come, with a greater and a more perfect tabernacle not made with hands, that is, not of this creation, 12 not with blood of goats and bullocks, but with his own blood, entered once into the sanctuary having found eternal redemption.

Hebrews 9:14

14 how much more shall the blood of Christ, who with an eternal spirit offered himself without fault to God, purify your conscience from dead works to serve the living God. 15 (3:6) And for this cause he is the mediator of the new covenant, that death having been for a redemption of transgressions [transgressors] under the first covenant, the called might receive the promise of the eternal inheritance.

Hebrews 9:15

15 (3:6) And for this cause he is the mediator of the new covenant, that death having been for a redemption of transgressions [transgressors] under the first covenant, the called might receive the promise of the eternal inheritance. 16 For where there is a covenant, there must follow the death of the covenant-maker. 17 For a covenant is strong for the dead, since it is never strong [unalterable] when the covenant-maker lives; 18 whence also the first [covenant] was not initiated without blood. 19 For every commandment of the law having been spoken by Moses to all the people, taking the blood of bullocks and goats with water and scarlet wool and hyssop, he sprinkled both the book itself and all the people, 20 saying, This is the blood of the covenant which God has enjoined upon you.

Hebrews 9:23-24

23 (3:7) It was necessary, therefore, that the symbols of things in the heavens should be purified with these, but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these. 24 For Christ did not enter into the sanctuary made with hands, a type of the true, but into heaven itself, and already has appeared before God for us,

12 but this [priest] having offered one sacrifice forever for sins, sat down on the right hand of God,
