He said not, And to offsprings, as of many, but as of one, And to your offspring, which is Christ. ¹⁷ And this I say; that the law which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot abrogate the covenant previously established by God, to make the promise of no effect. ¹⁸ For if the inheritance is by the law, it is no longer by the promise. But God gave it to Abraham by the promise. ¹⁹ What then? The law was added on account of transgressions, till the offspring should come to which the promise was made, being appointed by angels by the hand of a mediator.
