¹ In the freedom, then, with which Christ did make you free -- stand you, and be not held fast again by a yoke of servitude;

²⁸ 'Come unto me, all you labouring and burdened ones, and I will give you rest, ²⁹ take up my yoke upon you, and learn from me, because I am meek and humble in heart, and you shall find rest to your souls, ³⁰ for my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.'

⁴ for they bind together burdens heavy and grievous to be borne, and lay upon the shoulders of men, but with their finger they will not move them.

³² and the truth shall make you free.' ³³ They answered him, 'Seed of Abraham we are; and to no one have we been servants at any time; how do you say -- You shall become free?' ³⁴ Jesus answered them, 'Verily, verily, I say to you -- Every one who is committing sin, is a servant of the sin, ³⁵ and the servant does not remain in the house -- to the age, the son does remain -- to the age; ³⁶ if then the son may make you free, in reality you shall be free.

¹⁰ now, therefore, why do you tempt God, to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?

¹⁴ for sin over you shall not have lordship, for you are not under law, but under grace.

¹⁸ and having been freed from the sin, you became servants to the righteousness.

³ so, then, the husband being alive, an adulteress she shall be called if she may become another man's; and if the husband may die, she is free from the law, so as not to be an adulteress, having become another man's.

⁶ and now we have ceased from the law, that being dead in which we were held, so that we may serve in newness of spirit, and not in oldness of letter.

² for the law of the Spirit of the life in Christ Jesus did set me free from the law of the sin and of the death;

²² for he who is in the Lord -- having been called a servant -- is the Lord's freedman: in like manner also he the freeman, having been called, is servant of Christ:

⁵⁸ so that, my brethren beloved, become you stedfast, unmovable, abounding in the work of the Lord at all times, knowing that your labour is not vain in the Lord.

¹³ Watch you, stand in the faith; be men, be strong;

¹⁷ And the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty;

⁴ and that because of the false brethren brought in unawares, who did come in privily to spy out our liberty that we have in Christ Jesus, that us they might bring under bondage,

²⁵ and the faith having come, no more under a child-conductor are we,

⁹ and now, having known God -- and rather being known by God -- how turn you again unto the weak and poor elements to which anew you desire to be in servitude?

²⁶ and the Jerusalem above is the free-woman, which is mother of us all,

³¹ then, brethren, we are not a maid-servant's children, but the free-woman's.

¹³ For you -- to freedom you were called, brethren, only not the freedom for an occasion to the flesh, but through the love serve you one another,

¹⁴ Stand, therefore, having your loins girt\'7bgirded\'7d about in truth, and having put on the breastplate of the righteousness,

²⁷ Only worthily of the good news of the Christ conduct you yourselves, that, whether having come and seen you, whether being absent I may hear of the things concerning you, that you stand fast in one spirit, with one soul, striving together for the faith of the good news,

¹⁶ Let no one, then, judge you in eating or in drinking, or in respect of a feast, or of a new moon, or of sabbaths, ¹⁷ which are a shadow of the coming things, and the body is of the Christ; ¹⁸ let no one beguile you of your prize, delighting in humble-mindedness and in worship of the messengers, intruding into the things he has not seen, being vainly puffed up by the mind of his flesh, ¹⁹ and not holding the head, from which all the body -- through the joints and bands gathering supply, and being knit together -- may increase with the increase of God. ²⁰ If, then, you did die with the Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as living in the world, are you subject to ordinances? ²¹ -- you may not touch, nor taste, nor handle -- ²² which are all for destruction with the using, after the commands and teachings of men,

⁸ because now we live, if you may stand fast in the Lord;

¹⁵ so, then, brethren, stand you fast, and hold the deliverances that you were taught, whether through word, whether through our letter;

⁶ and Christ, as a Son over his house, whose house are we, if the boldness and the rejoicing of the hope unto the end we hold fast.

¹⁴ for partakers we have become of the Christ, if the beginning of the confidence unto the end we may hold fast,

¹⁴ Having, then, a great chief priest passed through the heavens -- Jesus the Son of God -- may we hold fast the profession,

⁸ the Holy Spirit this evidencing that not yet has been manifested the way of the holy places, the first tabernacle having yet a standing; ⁹ which is a simile in regard to the present time, in which both gifts and sacrifices are offered, which are not able, in regard to conscience, to make perfect him who is serving, ¹⁰ only in victuals, and drinks, and different baptisms, and fleshly ordinances -- till the time of reformation imposed upon them. ¹¹ And Christ being come, chief priest of the coming good things, through the greater and more perfect tabernacle not made with hands -- that is, not of this creation --

²³ may we hold fast the unwavering profession of the hope, (for faithful is He who did promise),

³⁵ You may not cast away, then, your boldness, which has great recompense of reward, ³⁶ for of patience you have need, that the will of God having done, you may receive the promise, ³⁷ for yet a very little, He who is coming will come, and will not tarry; ³⁸ and 'the righteous by faith shall live,' and 'if he may draw back, My soul has no pleasure in him,' ³⁹ and we are not of those drawing back to destruction, but of those believing to a preserving of soul.

¹⁶ as free, and not having the freedom as the cloak of the evil, but as servants of God;

¹⁹ liberty to them promising, themselves being servants of the corruption, for by whom any one has been overcome, to this one also he has been brought to servitude,

³ Beloved, all diligence using to write to you concerning the common salvation, I had necessity to write to you, exhorting to agonize for the faith once delivered to the saints,

²⁰ And you, beloved, on your most holy faith building yourselves up, in the Holy Spirit praying, ²¹ yourselves in the love of God keep you, waiting for the kindness of our Lord Jesus Christ -- to life age-during;

²⁵ but that which you have -- hold you, till I may come;

³ 'Remember, then, how you have received, and heard, and be keeping, and reform: if, then, you may not watch, I will come upon you as a thief, and you may not know what hour I will come upon you.
