¹ And there did come also false prophets among the people, as also among you there shall be false teachers, who shall bring in besides destructive sects, and the Master who bought them denying, bringing to themselves quick destruction, ² and many shall follow out their destructive ways, because of whom the way of the truth shall be evil spoken of, ³ and in covetousness, with molded words, of you they shall make merchandise, whose judgment of old is not idle, and their destruction does not slumber. ⁴ For if God messengers who sinned did not spare, but with chains of thick gloom, having cast them down to Tartarus, did deliver them to judgment, having been reserved, ⁵ and the old world did not spare, but the eighth person, Noah, of righteousness a preacher, did keep, a flood on the world of the impious having brought, ⁶ and the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah having turned to ashes, with an overthrow did condemn, an example to those about to be impious having set them; ⁷ and righteous Lot, worn down by the conduct in lasciviousness of the impious, He did rescue, ⁸ for in seeing and hearing, the righteous man, dwelling among them, day by day the righteous soul with unlawful works was harassing. ⁹ The Lord has known to rescue pious ones out of temptation, and unrighteous ones to a day of judgment, being punished, to keep, ¹⁰ and chiefly those going behind the flesh in desire of uncleanness, and lordship despising; presumptuous, self-complacent, dignities they are not afraid to speak evil of, ¹¹ whereas messengers, in strength and power being greater, do not bear against them before the Lord an evil speaking judgment; ¹² and these, as irrational natural beasts, made to be caught and destroyed -- in what things they are ignorant of, speaking evil -- in their destruction shall be destroyed, ¹³ about to receive a reward of unrighteousness, pleasures counting the luxury in the day, spots and blemishes, luxuriating in their deceits, feasting with you, ¹⁴ having eyes full of adultery, and unable to cease from sin, enticing unstable souls, having an heart exercised in covetousnesses, children of a curse, ¹⁵ having forsaken a right way, they did go astray, having followed in the way of Balaam the son of Bosor, who a reward of unrighteousness did love, ¹⁶ and had a rebuke of his own iniquity -- a dumb ass, in man's voice having spoken, did forbid the madness of the prophet. ¹⁷ These are wells without water, and clouds by a tempest driven, to whom the thick gloom of the darkness to the age has been kept; ¹⁸ for overswellings of vanity speaking, they do entice in desires of the flesh -- lasciviousnesses, those who had truly escaped from those conducting themselves in error, ¹⁹ liberty to them promising, themselves being servants of the corruption, for by whom any one has been overcome, to this one also he has been brought to servitude, ²⁰ for, if having escaped from the pollutions of the world, in the acknowledging of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, and by these again being entangled, they have been overcome, become to them has the last things worse than the first, ²¹ for it were better to them not to have acknowledged the way of the righteousness, than having acknowledged it, to turn back from the holy command delivered to them, ²² and happened to them has that of the true similitude; 'A dog did turn back upon his own vomit,' and, 'A sow having bathed herself -- to rolling in mire.'

¹⁵ 'But, take heed of the false prophets, who come unto you in sheep's clothing, and inwardly are ravening wolves.

³³ and whoever shall deny me before men, I also will deny him before my Father who is in the heavens.

⁵ for many shall come in my name, saying, I am the Christ, and they shall lead many astray,

¹¹ 'And many false prophets shall arise, and shall lead many astray;

²⁴ for there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and they shall give great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, also the chosen.

²² for there shall rise false Christs and false prophets, and they shall give signs and wonders, to seduce, if possible, also the chosen;

²⁶ 'Woo to you when all men shall speak well of you -- for according to these things were their fathers doing to false prophets.

⁹ and he who has denied me before men, shall be denied before the messengers of God,

⁸ And he said, 'See -- you may not be led astray, for many shall come in my name, saying -- I am he, and the time has come near; go not on then after them;

¹³ 'The God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob, the God of our fathers, did glorify His child Jesus, whom you delivered up, and denied him in the presence of Pilate, he having given judgment to release him, ¹⁴ and you the Holy and Righteous One did deny, and desired a man -- a murderer -- to be granted to you,

²⁸ 'Take heed, therefore, to yourselves, and to all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit made you overseers, to feed the assembly of God that He acquired through His own blood, ²⁹ for I have known this, that there shall enter in, after my departing, grievous wolves unto you, not sparing the flock, ³⁰ and of your own selves there shall arise men, speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after them.

¹⁸ for such our Lord Jesus Christ do not serve, but their own belly; and through the good word and fair speech they deceive the hearts of the harmless,

²⁰ for you were bought with a price; glorify, then, God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's.

²³ with a price you were bought, become not servants of men;

¹⁹ for it behooves sects also to be among you, that those approved may become manifest among you;

¹³ for those such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ, ¹⁴ and no wonder -- for even the Adversary does transform himself into a messenger of light; ¹⁵ no great thing, then, if also his ministrants do transform themselves as ministrants of righteousness -- whose end shall be according to their works.

⁴ and that because of the false brethren brought in unawares, who did come in privily to spy out our liberty that we have in Christ Jesus, that us they might bring under bondage,

¹³ Christ did redeem us from the curse of the law, having become for us a curse, for it has been written, 'Cursed is every one who is hanging on a tree,'

¹⁷ they are zealous for you -- yet not well, but they wish to shut us out, that for them you may be zealous;

²⁰ idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, strifes, emulations, wraths, rivalries, dissensions, sects,

⁷ in whom we have the redemption\'7bliberation\'7d through his blood, the remission\'7bpardoning\'7d of the trespasses, according to the riches of His grace,

¹⁴ that we may no more be babes\'7binfants\'7d, tossed and borne about by every wind of the teaching, in the sleight\'7bwiles\'7d of men, in craftiness\'7bslyness\'7d, unto the artifice\'7bscheming\'7d of leading astray,

¹⁹ whose end is destruction, whose god is the belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who the things on earth are minding.

⁸ See that no one shall be carrying you away as spoil through the philosophy and vain deceit, according to the deliverance of men, according to the rudiments of the world, and not according to Christ,

¹⁸ let no one beguile you of your prize, delighting in humble-mindedness and in worship of the messengers, intruding into the things he has not seen, being vainly puffed up by the mind of his flesh,

³ let not any one deceive you in any manner, because -- if the falling away may not come first, and the man of sin be revealed -- the son of the destruction, ⁴ who is opposing and is raising himself up above all called God or worshipped, so that he in the sanctuary of God as God has sat down, showing himself off that he is God -- the day does not come. ⁵ Do you not remember that, being yet with you, these things I said to you? ⁶ and now, what is keeping down you have known, for his being revealed in his own time, ⁷ for the secret of the lawlessness does already work, only he who is keeping down now will hinder -- till he may be out of the way, ⁸ and then shall be revealed the Lawless One, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the manifestation of his presence, ⁹ him, whose presence is according to the working of the Adversary, in all power, and signs, and lying wonders, ¹⁰ and in all deceitfulness of the unrighteousness in those perishing, because the love of the truth they did not receive for their being saved, ¹¹ and because of this shall God send to them a working of delusion, for their believing the lie, ¹² that they may be judged -- all who did not believe the truth, but were well pleased in the unrighteousness.

¹ And the Spirit expressly speaks, that in latter times shall certain fall away from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits and teachings of demons, ² in hypocrisy speaking lies, being seared in their own conscience, ³ forbidding to marry -- to abstain from meats that God created to be received with thanksgiving by those believing and acknowledging the truth,

¹² if we do endure together -- we shall also reign together; if we deny him, he also shall deny us; ¹³ if we are not stedfast\'7bfaithful\'7d, he remains stedfast\'7bfaithful\'7d; to deny himself he is not able.

¹ And this know you, that in the last days there shall come perilous times, ² for men\'7bpeople\'7d shall be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, evil-speakers\'7bprofane, those speaking insults\'7d, to parents disobedient, unthankful, unkind\'7bunsacred (Gk. anosios)\'7d, ³ without natural affection\'7baffectionless\'7d, implacable\'7bunappeasable, irreconcilable, relentless\'7d, false accusers\'7bslanderers\'7d, incontinent\'7bwithout restraint, undisciplined, lacking self-control\'7d, fierce, not lovers of those who are good, ⁴ traitors, heady\'7brash, reckless\'7d, lofty\'7bconceited\'7d, lovers of pleasure\'7bhedonists\'7d more\'7brather\'7d than lovers of God, ⁵ having a form\'7bsemblance\'7d of piety, and its power having denied; and from these be turning away, ⁶ for of these there are those coming into the houses and leading captive the silly women, laden\'7bweighed down, heaped, piled\'7d with sins, led away with desires manifold\'7bof various sorts\'7d, ⁷ always learning, and\'7byet\'7d never to a knowledge of truth able to come, ⁸ and, even as Jannes and Jambres stood against\'7bopposed\'7d Moses, so also these do stand against\'7boppose\'7d the truth, men\'7bpeople\'7d corrupted in mind, disapproved\'7brejected\'7d concerning the faith; ⁹ but they shall not advance any further, for their folly shall be manifest\'7bobvious, plain\'7d to all, as theirs also did become.

³ for there shall be a season when the sound teaching they will not suffer, but according to their own desires to themselves they shall heap up teachers -- itching in the hearing,

¹¹ whose mouth it benefits to stop, who whole households do overturn, teaching what things it benefits not, for filthy lucre's sake.

¹⁰ A sectarian man, after a first and second admonition be rejecting,

²⁹ of how much sorer punishment shall he be counted worthy who the Son of God did trample on, and the blood of the covenant did count a common thing, in which he was sanctified, and to the Spirit of the grace did despite?

⁸ whom, not having seen, you love, in whom, now not seeing and believing, you are glad with joy unspeakable and glorified,

³ and in covetousness, with molded words, of you they shall make merchandise, whose judgment of old is not idle, and their destruction does not slumber.

¹⁸ Little youths, it is the last hour; and even as you heard that the antichrist does come, even now antichrists have become many -- whence we know that it is the last hour; ¹⁹ out of us they went forth, but they were not of us, for if they had been of us, they would have remained with us; but -- that they might be manifested that they are not all of us.

²⁶ These things I did write to you concerning those leading you astray;

¹ Beloved, every spirit believe not, but prove the spirits, if of God they are, because many false prophets have gone forth to the world;

⁴ for there did come in unobserved certain men, long ago having been written beforehand to this judgment, impious, the grace of our God perverting to lasciviousness, and our only Master, God, and Lord -- Jesus Christ -- denying,

¹⁸ that they said to you, that in the last time there shall be scoffers, after their own desires of impieties going on,

⁹ I have known your works, and tribulation, and poverty -- yet you are rich -- and the evil-speaking of those saying themselves to be Jews, and are not, but are a synagogue of the Adversary.

¹³ I have known your works, and where you do dwell -- where the throne of the Adversary is -- and you do hold fast my name, and you did not deny my faith, even in the days in which Antipas was my faithful witness, who was put to death beside you, where the Adversary does dwell.

⁸ I have known your works; lo, I have set before you a door -- opened, and no one is able to shut it, because you have a little power, and did keep my word, and did not deny my name;

⁹ and they sing a new song, saying, 'Worthy are you to take the scroll, and to open the seals of it, because you were slain, and did redeem us to God in your blood, out of every tribe, and tongue, and people, and nation,

¹⁴ and it leads astray those dwelling on the land, because of the signs that were given it to do before the beast, saying to those dwelling upon the land to make an image to the beast that has the stroke of the sword and did live,

¹⁴ how strait\'7bcramped, constricted\'7d is the gate, and compressed the way that is leading to the life, and few are those finding it!

¹⁶ and they send to him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, 'Teacher, we have known that you are true, and the way of God in truth you do teach, and you are not caring for any one, for you do not look to the face of men;

¹⁰ and then shall many be stumbled, and they shall deliver up one another, and shall hate one another. ¹¹ 'And many false prophets shall arise, and shall lead many astray; ¹² and because of the abounding of the lawlessness, the love of the many shall become cold; ¹³ but he who did endure to the end, he shall be saved;

¹⁴ and they having come, say to him, 'Teacher, we have known that you are true, and you are not caring for any one, for you do not look to the face of men, but in truth the way of God do teach; is it lawful to give tribute to Caesar or not? may we give, or may we not give?'

⁶ Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, and the truth, and the life, no one does come unto the Father, if not through me;

¹⁰ said, 'O full of all guile, and all profligacy, son of a devil, enemy of all righteousness, will you not cease perverting the right ways of the Lord?

² and the unbelieving Jews did stir up and made evil the souls of the nations against the brethren;

¹⁷ she having followed Paul and us, was crying, saying, 'These men are servants of the Most High God, who declare to us a way of salvation;'

²⁶ this one also began to speak boldly in the synagogue, and Aquilas and Priscilla having heard of him, took him to them, and did more exactly expound to him the way of God,

⁹ and when certain were hardened and were disbelieving, speaking evil of the way before the multitude, having departed from them, he did separate the disciples, every day reasoning in the school of a certain Tyrannus.

¹⁴ 'And I confess this to you, that, according to the way that they call a sect, so serve I the God of the fathers, believing all things that in the law and the prophets have been written,

²⁴ for the name of God because of you is evil spoken of among the nations, according as it has been written.

¹⁴ I wish, therefore, younger ones to marry, to bear children, to be mistress of the house, to give no occasion to the opposer to reviling;

⁵ sober, pure, keepers of their own houses\'7bhomemakers\'7d, good, subject\'7bsubmissive\'7d to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be evil spoken of.

⁸ discourse sound, irreprehensible, that he who is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having nothing evil to say concerning you.

¹² having your behaviour among the nations right, that in that which they speak against you as evil-doers, of the good works having beheld, they may glorify God in a day of inspection.

¹² and these, as irrational natural beasts, made to be caught and destroyed -- in what things they are ignorant of, speaking evil -- in their destruction shall be destroyed,

¹⁵ having forsaken a right way, they did go astray, having followed in the way of Balaam the son of Bosor, who a reward of unrighteousness did love,

²¹ for it were better to them not to have acknowledged the way of the righteousness, than having acknowledged it, to turn back from the holy command delivered to them,

¹⁰ and these, as many things indeed as they have not known, they speak evil of; and as many things as naturally (as the irrational beasts) they understand, in these they are corrupted;

¹⁵ to do judgment against all, and to convict all their impious ones, concerning all their works of impiety that they did impiously, and concerning all the stiff things that speak against Him did impious sinners.'

⁹ and the great dragon was cast forth -- the old serpent, who is called 'Devil,' and 'the Adversary,' who is leading astray the whole world -- he was cast forth to the earth, and his messengers were cast forth with him.

⁸ And bow before it shall all who are dwelling upon the land, whose names have not been written in the scroll of the life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

⁸ I say to you, that He will execute the justice to them quickly; but the Son of Man having come, shall he find the faith upon the earth?'

²⁰ And, having watched him, they sent forth liers in wait, feigning themselves to be righteous, that they might take hold of his word, to deliver him up to the rule and to the authority of the governor,

⁴⁷ And while he is speaking, lo, a multitude, and he who is called Judas, one of the twelve, was coming before them, and he came near to Jesus to kiss him,

¹⁶ and to those selling the doves he said, 'Take these things hence; make not the house of my Father a house of merchandise.' ¹⁷ for we are not as the many, adulterating the word of God, but as of sincerity -- but as of God; in the presence of God, in Christ we do speak.

¹⁷ any one of those whom I have sent unto you -- by him did I take advantage of you? ¹⁸ I entreated Titus, and did send with him the brother; did Titus take advantage of you? in the same spirit did we not walk? -- did we not in the same steps?

⁵ for at no time did we come with speech of flattery, (as you have known,) nor in a pretext for covetousness, (God is witness!)

³ for when they may say, Peace and surety, then sudden destruction does stand by them, as the travail does her who is with child, and they shall not escape;

³ not given to wine, not a striker, not given to filthy lucre, but gentle, not contentious, not a lover of money,

⁸ Ministers -- in like manner grave, not double-tongued, not given to much wine, not given to filthy lucre,

⁵ wranglings of men wholly corrupted in mind, and destitute of the truth, supposing the piety to be gain; depart from such;

⁷ for it benefits the overseer to be blameless, as God's steward\'7badministrator\'7d, not self-pleased\'7barrogant, egocentric\'7d, nor irascible\'7bhot-tempered, prone to anger\'7d, not given to wine, not a striker\'7bbrawler\'7d, not given to filthy lucre\'7bbase gain\'7d;

⁸ and a stone of stumbling and a rock of offence -- who are stumbling at the word, being unbelieving, -- to which also they were set;

² feed the flock of God that is among you, overseeing not constrainedly, but willingly, neither for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind,

¹⁶ For, skilfully devised fables not having followed out, we did make known to you the power and presence of our Lord Jesus Christ, but eye-witnesses having become of his majesty --

⁹ The Lord has known to rescue pious ones out of temptation, and unrighteous ones to a day of judgment, being punished, to keep,

¹⁴ having eyes full of adultery, and unable to cease from sin, enticing unstable souls, having an heart exercised in covetousnesses, children of a curse, ¹⁵ having forsaken a right way, they did go astray, having followed in the way of Balaam the son of Bosor, who a reward of unrighteousness did love,

⁷ as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities around them, in like manner to these, having given themselves to whoredom, and gone after other flesh, have been set before -- an example, of fire age-during, justice suffering.

¹¹ woe to them! because in the way of Cain they did go on, and to the deceit of Balaam for reward they did rush, and in the gainsaying of Korah they did perish.

¹¹ 'And the merchants of the earth shall weep and sorrow over her, because their lading no one does buy any more; ¹² lading of gold, and silver, and precious stone, and pearl, and fine linen, and purple, and silk, and scarlet, and all thyine wood, and every vessel of ivory, and every vessel of most precious wood, and brass, and iron, and marble, ¹³ and cinnamon, and odours, and ointment, and frankincense, and wine, and oil, and fine flour, and wheat, and cattle, and sheep, and of horses, and of chariots, and of bodies and souls of men.

²⁹ and lo, they cried out, saying, 'What -- to us and to you, Jesus, Son of God? Did you come here, before the time, to afflict us?'

⁴¹ Then shall he say also to those on the left hand, Go you from me, the cursed, to the fire, the age-during, that has been prepared for the Devil and his messengers;

⁷ and having called with a loud voice, he said, 'What -- to me and to you, Jesus, Son of God the Most High? I adjure you by God, may you not afflict me!'

³¹ and he was calling on him, that he may not command them to go away to the abyss,

¹⁸ and he said to them, 'I was beholding the Adversary, as lightning from the heaven having fallen;

⁴⁴ 'You are of a father -- the devil, and the desires of your father you will to do; he was a man-slayer from the beginning, and in the truth he has not stood, because there is no truth in him; when one may speak the falsehood, of his own he speaks, because he is a liar -- also his father.

³² He who indeed His own Son did not spare, but for us all did deliver him up, how shall He not also with him the all things grant to us?

²¹ for if God the natural branches did not spare -- lest perhaps He also shall not spare you.

⁵ and the old world did not spare, but the eighth person, Noah, of righteousness a preacher, did keep, a flood on the world of the impious having brought,

¹¹ whereas messengers, in strength and power being greater, do not bear against them before the Lord an evil speaking judgment;

⁸ he who is doing the sin, of the devil he is, because from the beginning the devil does sin; for this was the Son of God manifested, that he may break up the works of the devil;

⁶ messengers also, those who did not keep their own principality, but did leave their proper dwelling, to a judgment of a great day, in bonds everlasting, under darkness He has kept,

¹³ wild waves of a sea, foaming out their own shames; stars going astray, to whom the gloom of the darkness to the age hath been kept.

⁷ And there came war in the heaven; Michael and his messengers did war against the dragon, and the dragon did war, and his messengers, ⁸ and they did not prevail, nor was their place found any more in the heaven; ⁹ and the great dragon was cast forth -- the old serpent, who is called 'Devil,' and 'the Adversary,' who is leading astray the whole world -- he was cast forth to the earth, and his messengers were cast forth with him.

¹ And I saw a messenger coming down out of the heaven, having the key of the abyss, and a great chain over his hand, ² and he laid hold on the dragon, the old serpent, who is Devil and Adversary, and did bind him a thousand years, ³ and he cast him to the abyss, and did shut him up, and put a seal upon him, that he may not lead astray the nations any more, till the thousand years may be finished; and after these it behooves him to be loosed a little time.

¹⁰ and the Devil, who is leading them astray, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where are the beast and the false prophet, and they shall be tormented day and night -- to the ages of the ages.

³⁷ and as the days of Noah -- so shall be also the presence of the Son of Man; ³⁸ for as they were, in the days before the flood, eating, and drinking, marrying, and giving in marriage, till the day Noah entered into the ark, ³⁹ and they did not know till the flood came and took all away; so shall be also the presence of the Son of Man.

²⁶ 'And, as it came to pass in the days of Noah, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of Man; ²⁷ they were eating, they were drinking, they were marrying, they were given in marriage, till the day that Noah entered into the ark, and the deluge came, and destroyed all;

⁷ By faith Noah, having been divinely warned concerning the things not yet seen, having feared, did prepare an ark to the salvation of his house, through which he did condemn the world, and of the righteousness according to faith he became heir.

¹⁹ in which also to the spirits in prison having gone he did preach, ²⁰ who sometime disbelieved, when once the long-suffering of God did wait, in days of Noah -- an ark being preparing -- in which few, that is, eight souls, were saved through water;

⁶ through which the then world, by water having been deluged, was destroyed;

¹⁴ And prophesy also to these did the seventh from Adam -- Enoch -- saying, 'Lo, the Lord did come in His saintly myriads, ¹⁵ to do judgment against all, and to convict all their impious ones, concerning all their works of impiety that they did impiously, and concerning all the stiff things that speak against Him did impious sinners.'

²⁸ in like manner also, as it came to pass in the days of Lot; they were eating, they were drinking, they were buying, they were selling, they were planting, they were building; ²⁹ and on the day Lot went forth from Sodom, He rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed all. ³⁰ 'According to these things it shall be, in the day the Son of Man is revealed;

¹¹ And all these things as types did happen to those persons, and they were written for our admonition, to whom the end of the ages did come,

¹³ No temptation has taken you -- except human; and God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above what you are able, but He will make, with the temptation, also the outlet, for your being able to bear it.

¹⁷ You, then, beloved, knowing before, take heed, lest, together with the error of the impious being led away, you may fall from your own stedfastness,

⁹ having known this, that for a righteous man law is not set, but for lawless and insubordinate persons, ungodly and sinners, impious and profane, parricides and matricides, men-slayers,

¹⁶ Be confessing to one another the trespasses, and be praying for one another, that you may be healed; very strong is a working supplication of a righteous man;

⁵ But, according to your hardness and impenitent heart, you do treasure up to yourself wrath, in a day of wrath and of the revelation of the righteous judgment of God,

¹⁰ for all of us it behooves to be manifested before the tribunal of the Christ, that each one may receive the things done through the body, in reference to the things that he did, whether good or evil; ¹¹ having known, therefore, the fear of the Lord, we persuade men, and to God we are manifested, and I hope also in your consciences to have been manifested;

¹² and all also who will to live piously in Christ Jesus shall be persecuted,

¹⁴ who did give himself for us, that he might ransom us from all lawlessness, and might purify to himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works;

⁴ For if God messengers who sinned did not spare, but with chains of thick gloom, having cast them down to Tartarus, did deliver them to judgment, having been reserved,

⁷ and the present heavens and the earth, by the same word are treasured, for fire being kept to a day of judgment and destruction of the impious men.

¹⁰ 'Because you did keep the word of my endurance, I also will keep you from the hour of the trial that is about to come upon all the world, to try those dwelling upon the earth.

¹⁴ and his citizens were hating him, and did send an embassy after him, saying, We do not wish this one to reign over us.

⁵ and Paul said, 'I did not know, brethren, that he is chief priest: for it has been written, Of the ruler of your people you shall not speak evil;'

²⁴ Therefore also God did give them up, in the desires of their hearts, to uncleanness, to dishonour their bodies among themselves; ²⁵ who did change the truth of God into a falsehood, and did honour and serve the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed to the ages. Amen. ²⁶ Because of this did God give them up to dishonorable affections, for even their females did change the natural use into that against nature; ²⁷ and in like manner also the males having left the natural use of the female, did burn in their longing toward one another; males with males working shame, and the recompense of their error that was fit, in themselves receiving.

¹ There is, then, now no condemnation to those in Christ Jesus, who walk not according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit;

⁴ that the righteousness of the law may be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. ⁵ For those who are according to the flesh, the things of the flesh do mind; and those according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit;

¹² So, then, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh; ¹³ for if according to the flesh you do live, you are about to die; and if, by the Spirit, the deeds of the body you put to death, you shall live;

¹ Let every soul to the higher authorities be subject, for there is no authority except from God, and the authorities existing are appointed by God, ² so that he who is setting himself against the authority, against God's ordinance has resisted; and those resisting, to themselves shall receive judgment. ³ For those ruling are not a terror to the good works, but to the evil; and do you wish not to be afraid of the authority? that which is good be doing, and you shall have praise from it, ⁴ for of God it is a ministrant to you for good; and if that which is evil you may do, be fearing, for not in vain does it bear the sword; for of God it is a ministrant, an avenger for wrath to him who is doing that which is evil. ⁵ Therefore it is necessary to be subject, not only because of the wrath, but also because of the conscience,

⁹ have you not known that the unrighteous the reign of God shall not inherit? be not led astray; neither whoremongers, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor sodomites,

³ for walking in the flesh, not according to the flesh do we war,

¹⁹ who, having ceased to feel, themselves did give up to the lasciviousness\'7blewdness\'7d, for the working of all uncleanness\'7bimpurity\'7d in greediness;

⁵ for this you know, that every whoremonger, or unclean, or covetous person, who is an idolater, has no inheritance in the reign of the Christ and God.

⁵ Put to death, then, your members that are upon the earth -- whoredom, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and the covetousness, which is idolatry --

⁷ for God did not call us on uncleanness, but in sanctification;

⁴ honourable is the marriage in all, and the bed undefiled, and whoremongers and adulterers God shall judge.

¹³ Be subject, then, to every human creation, because of the Lord, whether to a king, as the highest, ¹⁴ whether to governors, as to those sent through him, for punishment, indeed, of evil-doers, and a praise of those doing good;

³ this first knowing, that there shall come in the latter end of the days scoffers, according to their own desires going on,

⁶ messengers also, those who did not keep their own principality, but did leave their proper dwelling, to a judgment of a great day, in bonds everlasting, under darkness He has kept, ⁷ as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities around them, in like manner to these, having given themselves to whoredom, and gone after other flesh, have been set before -- an example, of fire age-during, justice suffering. ⁸ In like manner, nevertheless, those dreaming also the flesh indeed do defile, and lordship they put away, and dignities they speak evil of,

¹⁶ These are murmurers, repiners; according to their desires walking, and their mouth does speak great swellings, giving admiration to persons for the sake of profit;

⁷ and to you who are troubled -- rest with us in the revelation of the Lord Jesus from heaven, with messengers of his power,

⁹ yet Michael, the chief messenger, when, with the devil contending, he was disputing about the body of Moses, did not dare to bring up an evil-speaking judgment, but said, 'The Lord rebuke you!'

²¹ therefore said Jesus again to them, 'I go away, and you will seek me, and in your sin you shall die; whither I go away, you are not able to come.'

⁸ because he who is sowing to his own flesh, of the flesh shall reap corruption; and he who is sowing to the Spirit, of the Spirit shall reap life age-during;

⁴ through which to us the most great and precious promises have been given, that through these you may become partakers of a divine nature, having escaped from the corruption in the world in desires.

¹⁹ liberty to them promising, themselves being servants of the corruption, for by whom any one has been overcome, to this one also he has been brought to servitude,

⁸ and to those contentious, and disobedient, indeed, to the truth, and obeying the unrighteousness -- indignation and wrath, ⁹ tribulation and distress, upon every soul of man that is working the evil, both of Jew first, and of Greek;

¹³ as in day-time, let us walk becomingly; not in revellings and drunkennesses, not in chamberings and lasciviousnesses, not in strife and emulation;

²⁰ you, then, coming together at the same place -- it is not to eat the Lord's supper; ²¹ for each his own supper does take before in the eating, and one is hungry, and another is drunk; ²² why, have you not houses to eat and to drink in? or the assembly of God do you despise, and shame those not having? what may I say to you? shall I praise you in this? I do not praise!

²⁷ that he might present it to himself the assembly in glory, not having spot or wrinkle, or any of such things, but that it may be holy and unblemished;

⁷ for those sleeping, by night do sleep, and those making themselves drunk, by night are drunken, ⁸ and we, being of the day -- let us be sober, putting on a breastplate of faith and love, and an helmet -- a hope of salvation,

¹⁴ Alexander the coppersmith did me much evil harm; may the Lord repay to him according to his works,

² for if the word being spoken through messengers did become stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience did receive a just recompense, ³ how shall we escape, having neglected so great salvation? which a beginning receiving -- to be spoken through the Lord -- by those having heard was confirmed to us,

⁴ in which they think it strange -- your not running with them to the same excess of dissoluteness, speaking evil,

¹² These are in your love-feasts craggy rocks; feasting together with you, without fear shepherding themselves; clouds without water, by winds carried about; trees autumnal, without fruit, twice dead, rooted up; ¹³ wild waves of a sea, foaming out their own shames; stars going astray, to whom the gloom of the darkness to the age hath been kept. ¹⁴ And prophesy also to these did the seventh from Adam -- Enoch -- saying, 'Lo, the Lord did come in His saintly myriads, ¹⁵ to do judgment against all, and to convict all their impious ones, concerning all their works of impiety that they did impiously, and concerning all the stiff things that speak against Him did impious sinners.' ¹⁶ These are murmurers, repiners; according to their desires walking, and their mouth does speak great swellings, giving admiration to persons for the sake of profit;

⁶ Render to her as also she did render to you, and double to her doubles according to her works; in the cup that she did mingle to her double.

²⁸ but I -- I say to you, that every one who is looking on a woman to desire her, did already commit adultery with her in his heart.

³⁴ 'Brood of vipers! How are you able to speak good things -- being evil? For out of the abundance of the heart does the mouth speak.

⁴⁴ how are you able -- you -- to believe, glory from one another receiving, and the glory that is from God alone you seek not?

³ among whom also we all did walk once in the desires of our flesh, doing the wishes\'7bdesires\'7d of the flesh and of the thoughts, and were by nature children of wrath -- as also the others,

⁸ a two-souled man is unstable in all his ways.

¹⁸ for overswellings of vanity speaking, they do entice in desires of the flesh -- lasciviousnesses, those who had truly escaped from those conducting themselves in error,

¹⁶ as also in all the epistles, speaking in them concerning these things, among which things are certain hard to be understood, which the untaught and unstable do wrest, as also the other Writings, unto their own destruction.

¹⁶ because all that is in the world -- the desire of the flesh, and the desire of the eyes, and the ostentation of the life -- is not of the Father, but of the world,

¹⁸ this one, indeed, then, purchased a field out of the reward of unrighteousness, and falling headlong, burst asunder in the midst, and all his bowels gushed forth,

¹³ about to receive a reward of unrighteousness, pleasures counting the luxury in the day, spots and blemishes, luxuriating in their deceits, feasting with you, ¹⁴ 'But I have against you a few things: That you have there those holding the teaching of Balaam, who did teach Balak to cast a stumbling-block before the sons of Israel, to eat idol-sacrifices, and to commit whoredom;

¹¹ if, then, in the unrighteous mammon ye became not faithful -- the true who will entrust to you?

¹¹ and in every synagogue, often punishing them, I was constraining them to speak evil, being also exceedingly mad against them, I was also persecuting them even unto strange cities.

²⁴ And, he thus making a defence, Festus with a loud voice said, 'You are mad, Paul; much learning does turn you mad;' ²⁵ and he said, 'I am not mad, most noble Festus, but of truth and soberness the sayings I speak forth;

¹² but the sons of the reign shall be cast forth to the outer darkness -- there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of the teeth.'

¹³ 'Then said the king to the ministrants, Having bound his feet and hands, take him up and cast forth to the outer darkness, there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of the teeth;

³⁰ and the unprofitable servant cast you forth to the outer darkness; there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of the teeth.

⁴⁰ Also with many more other words he was testifying and exhorting, saying, 'Be saved from this perverse generation;'

⁹ And a certain man, by name Simon, was before in the city using magic, and amazing the nation of Samaria, saying himself to be a certain great one,

⁴ who is opposing and is raising himself up above all called God or worshipped, so that he in the sanctuary of God as God has sat down, showing himself off that he is God -- the day does not come.

⁵ you did live in luxury upon the earth, and were wanton; you did nourish your hearts, as in a day of slaughter;

²⁰ for, if having escaped from the pollutions of the world, in the acknowledging of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, and by these again being entangled, they have been overcome, become to them has the last things worse than the first,

⁵ And there was given to it a mouth speaking great things, and evil-speakings, and there was given to it authority to make war forty-two months, ⁶ and it did open its mouth for evil-speaking toward God, to speak evil of His name, and of His tabernacle, and of those who in the heaven tabernacle,

¹¹ And I saw another beast coming up out of the land, and it had two horns, like a lamb, and it was speaking as a dragon,

³⁴ Jesus answered them, 'Verily, verily, I say to you -- Every one who is committing sin, is a servant of the sin,

¹² Let not then the sin reign in your mortal body, to obey it in its desires; ¹³ neither present you your members instruments of unrighteousness to the sin, but present yourselves to God as living out of the dead, and your members instruments of righteousness to God; ¹⁴ for sin over you shall not have lordship, for you are not under law, but under grace.

¹⁶ Have you not known that to whom you present yourselves servants for obedience, servants you are to him to whom you obey, whether of sin to death, or of obedience to righteousness? ¹⁷ and thanks to God, that you were servants of the sin, and -- were obedient from the heart to the form of teaching to which you were delivered up; ¹⁸ and having been freed from the sin, you became servants to the righteousness. ¹⁹ In the manner of men I speak, because of the weakness of your flesh, for even as you did present your members servants to the uncleanness and to the lawlessness -- to the lawlessness, so now present your members servants to the righteousness -- to sanctification, ²⁰ for when you were servants of the sin, you were free from the righteousness, ²¹ what fruit, therefore, were you having then, in the things of which you are now ashamed? for the end of those is death. ²² And now, having been freed from the sin, and having become servants to God, you have your fruit -- to sanctification, and the end life age-during;

¹ In the freedom, then, with which Christ did make you free -- stand you, and be not held fast again by a yoke of servitude;

¹³ For you -- to freedom you were called, brethren, only not the freedom for an occasion to the flesh, but through the love serve you one another,

²⁶ and they may awake out of the devil's snare, having been caught by him at his will.

³ for we were once -- also we -- thoughtless, disobedient, led astray, serving desires and pleasures manifold\'7bmany\'7d, in malice and envy living, odious -- hating one another;

¹⁶ as free, and not having the freedom as the cloak of the evil, but as servants of God;

⁴³ 'And, when the unclean spirit may go forth from the man, it does walk through dry places seeking rest, and does not find; ⁴⁴ then it said, I will turn back to my house from which I came forth; and having come, it finds it unoccupied, swept, and adorned: ⁴⁵ then does it go, and take with itself seven other spirits more evil than itself, and having gone in they dwell there, and the last of that man does become worse than the first; so shall it be also to this evil generation.'

²⁴ 'When the unclean spirit may go forth from the man it walks through waterless places seeking rest, and not finding, it says, I will turn back to my house whence I came forth; ²⁵ and having come, it finds it swept and adorned; ²⁶ then does it go, and take to it seven other spirits more evil than itself, and having entered, they dwell there, and the last of that man becomes worst than the first.'

⁴ for it is impossible for those once enlightened, having tasted also of the heavenly gift, and partakers having became of the Holy Spirit, ⁵ and did taste the good saying of God, the powers also of the coming age, ⁶ and having fallen away, again to renew them to reformation, having crucified again to themselves the Son of God, and exposed to public shame. ⁷ For earth, that is drinking in the rain many times coming upon it, and is bringing forth herbs fit for those because of whom also it is dressed, does partake of blessing from God, ⁸ and that which is bearing thorns and briers is disapproved of, and near to cursing, whose end is for burning;

²⁶ For we -- willfully sinning after the receiving the full knowledge of the truth -- no more for sins does there remain a sacrifice, ²⁷ but a certain fearful looking for of judgment, and fiery zeal, about to devour the opposers;

² Grace to you, and peace be multiplied in the acknowledgement of God and of Jesus our Lord!

²³ 'And you, Capernaum, which unto the heaven wast exalted, unto hades shall be brought down, because if in Sodom had been done the mighty works that were done in you, it had remained unto this day; ²⁴ but I say to you, to the land of Sodom it shall be more tolerable in a day of judgment than to you.'

³² for John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him, and the tax-gatherers and the harlots did believe him, and you, having seen, repented not at last -- to believe him.

⁴⁷ 'And that servant, who having known his lord's will, and not having prepared, nor having gone according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes,

⁴¹ Jesus said to them, 'If you were blind, you were not having had sin, but now you say -- We see, therefore does your sin remain.

²² if I had not come and spoken to them, they were not having sin; but now pretext they have not for their sin.

¹² so that the law, indeed, is holy, and the command holy, and righteous, and good.

² for you have known what commands we gave you through the Lord Jesus,

⁴ for it is impossible for those once enlightened, having tasted also of the heavenly gift, and partakers having became of the Holy Spirit, ⁵ and did taste the good saying of God, the powers also of the coming age, ⁶ and having fallen away, again to renew them to reformation, having crucified again to themselves the Son of God, and exposed to public shame.

¹⁷ to him, then, knowing to do good, and not doing, sin it is to him.
