¹¹ And besides that, you know the hour, that it is now high time to awaken from sleep: for now our salvation is nearer than when we believed.

³ And in the morning, It will be foul weather today: for the sky is red and threatening. O you hypocrites, you can discern the face of the sky; but can you not discern the signs of the times?

⁴² Therefore watch: for you do not know on what day your Lord will come. ⁴³ But know this, that if the owner of the house had known at what time the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have allowed his house to be broken into. ⁴⁴ Therefore you must also be ready: for the Son of man will come at an hour you do not expect.

⁵ While the bridegroom tarried, they all became drowsy and slept. ⁶ And at midnight there was a cry, Behold, the bridegroom comes; go out to meet him. ⁷ Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.

⁴⁰ And he came to the disciples, and found them asleep, and said to Peter, What, could you not watch with me one hour? ⁴¹ Watch and pray, that you do not enter into temptation: the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.

³⁵ Watch therefore: for you do not know when the master of the house comes, at evening, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning: ³⁶ Lest he come suddenly and find you sleeping. ³⁷ And what I say to you I say to all, Watch.

²⁸ And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draws near.

²⁹ But this I say, brethren, the time is short: from now on let those who have wives be as though they had none; ³⁰ And those who weep, as though they did not weep; and those who rejoice, as though they did not rejoice; and those who buy, as though they did not possess; ³¹ And those who use this world, as though not engrossed in it: for the form of this world passes away.

¹¹ Now all these things happened to them as examples: and they were written for our instruction, upon whom the end of the ages has come.

³⁴ Awaken to sobriety, and do not sin; for some do not have the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame.

¹⁴ Therefore he says, Awaken, you who sleep, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give you light.

¹ But of the times and the seasons, brethren, you have no need that I write to you. ² For you yourselves know full well that the day of the Lord shall come as a thief in the night. ³ For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction shall come upon them, as birth pangs upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

⁵ You are all sons of light, and sons of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. ⁶ Therefore let us not sleep, as others do; but let us watch and be sober. ⁷ For those who sleep, sleep in the night; and those who get drunk, get drunk in the night. ⁸ But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for a helmet, the hope of salvation.

⁷ But the end of all things is at hand: therefore be of sound mind and sober judgement for prayer.

¹³ But we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells. ¹⁴ Therefore, beloved, seeing that you look for these things, be diligent that you may be found at peace with him, without spot, and blameless. ¹⁵ And consider the patience of our Lord to be salvation; just as our beloved brother Paul has written to you, according to the wisdom given to him,

¹² Behold, I am coming quickly; and my reward is with me, to give to every man according to what he has done.

²⁰ He who testifies to these things says, Surely I am coming quickly. Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.
