²⁷ As for my enemies, those who did not want me to reign over them, bring them here, and kill them in front of me.

³⁷ But last of all he sent to them his son, saying, They will respect my son. ³⁸ But when the tenants saw the son, they said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and let us seize his inheritance. ³⁹ And they took him, and cast him out of the vineyard, and killed him. ⁴⁰ Therefore, when the owner of the vineyard comes, what will he do to those tenants? ⁴¹ They said to him, He will miserably destroy those wicked men, and will let out his vineyard to other tenants, who shall give him the fruits in their seasons.

⁷ The king was angry, and he sent forth his armies, and destroyed those murderers, and burned their city.

³⁴ Therefore, behold, I send to you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and some of them you shall kill and crucify; and some of them you shall scourge in your synagogues, and persecute from city to city: ³⁵ That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah, son of Berachiah, whom you killed between the temple and the altar. ³⁶ Truly I say to you, All these things shall come upon this generation.

¹⁴ But his citizens hated him, and sent a message after him, saying, We do not want this man to reign over us.

⁴² Saying, If you, even you, had only known on this day, the things which make for peace! but now they are hidden from your eyes. ⁴³ For the days shall come upon you, when your enemies shall build an embankment about you, and surround you, and keep you in on every side, ⁴⁴ And shall level you to the ground, and your children within you; and they shall not leave in you one stone upon another; because you did not know the time of your visitation.

¹⁶ He shall come and destroy these tenants, and shall give the vineyard to others. When they heard this, they said, God forbid.

²² For these are days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.

²⁴ And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down by the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.

¹⁵ Who both killed the Lord Jesus, and their own prophets, and have persecuted us. They do not please God, and oppose all men, ¹⁶ By hindering us from speaking to the Gentiles that they might be saved, thus always filling up their sins to the limit: but wrath has come upon them at last.

¹³ From that time on waiting until his enemies are made his footstool.
