²⁴ But that you may know that the Son of man has power upon earth to forgive sins, (he said to the paralytic,) I say to you, Arise, and take up your mat, and go to your house. ²⁵ And immediately he rose up before them, and took up what he had been lying on, and departed to his house, glorifying God. ²⁶ And they were all amazed, and they glorified God, and were filled with fear, saying, We have seen strange things today.

²⁹ And all the people who heard him, and the tax gatherers, acknowledged the ways of God were just, for they had been baptized with the baptism of John. ³⁰ But the Pharisees and lawyers rejected the purpose of God for themselves, not having been baptized by him.

³⁹ Now when the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself, This man, if he were a prophet, would have known who and what manner of woman this is who touches him: for she is a sinner.

¹⁸ When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then God has also granted to the Gentiles the repentance that leads to life.

³ Concerning his Son, who was born a descendant of David according to the flesh;

¹⁴ Their mouth is full of cursing and bitterness: ¹⁵ Their feet are swift to shed blood: ¹⁶ Destruction and misery are in their ways: ¹⁷ And the way of peace have they not known: ¹⁸ There is no fear of God before their eyes.

²⁰ Therefore, by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified in his sight: for through the law comes the knowledge of sin.

³ For I delivered to you as of first importance that which I received, that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; ⁴ And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

⁹ For I am the least of the apostles, and am not worthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. ¹⁰ But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than all of them: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.
