⁵² For from henceforth there shall be five in one house, divided, three against two, and two against three.

⁴¹ Others said, This is the Christ. But some said, Shall Christ come out of Galilee? ⁴² Has not the scripture said, That Christ comes from the seed of David, and out of the town of Bethlehem, the village where David lived? ⁴³ So there was a division among the people because of him.

¹⁶ Therefore, some of the Pharisees said, This man is not of God, because he does not keep the sabbath day. Others said, How can a man who is a sinner do such miraculous signs? And there was a division among them.

¹⁹ There was again a division among the Jews because of these words. ²⁰ And many of them said, He has a devil, and is mad; why do you listen to him? ²¹ Others said, These are not the words of one who has a devil. Can a devil open the eyes of the blind?

¹⁸ If the world hates you, know that it hated me before it hated you. ¹⁹ If you were of the world, the world would love its own: but because you are not of the world, because I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. ²⁰ Remember the word that I said to you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my word, they will keep yours also. ²¹ But all these things they will do to you for my name's sake, because they do not know him who sent me.

² They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time comes when whoever kills you will think that he is serving God.

⁴³ Now when the congregation had broken up, many of the Jews and devout converts followed Paul and Barnabas: who spoke to them, urging them to continue in the grace of God. ⁴⁴ And the next sabbath day almost the whole city came together to hear the word of God. ⁴⁵ But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with envy, and contradicted those things which were spoken by Paul, and reviled him. ⁴⁶ Then Paul and Barnabas grew bold, and said, It was necessary that the word of God should have first been spoken to you: but seeing that you thrust it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of eternal life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles.

¹ And it came to pass in Iconium, that they went together into the synagogue of the Jews, and so spoke, that a great multitude both of the Jews and of the Greeks believed. ² But the unbelieving Jews stirred up the Gentiles, and poisoned their minds against the brethren. ³ Therefore, for a long time they remained there, speaking boldly in the Lord, who gave testimony to the word of his grace, and granted signs and wonders to be done by their hands. ⁴ But the multitude of the city was divided: and part held with the Jews, and part with the apostles.

²⁴ And some believed the things which were spoken, and some did not believe.
