³⁹ And Jesus said, For judgment I came into this world, that those who do not see might see; and that those who see might be made blind.

²³ But if your eye is bad, your whole body shall be full of darkness. Therefore, if the light that is in you is darkness, how great is that darkness!

⁵ The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them.

¹³ Therefore, I speak to them in parables: because seeing they see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand. ¹⁴ And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah, who says, You shall continue to hear, but not understand; and you shall continue to see, but not perceive: ¹⁵ For this people's heart has become dull, and their ears are hard of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

⁷⁹ To give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.

³⁴ And Simeon blessed them, and said to Mary his mother, Behold, this child is appointed to cause the fall and rising of many in Israel; and to be a sign which shall be spoken against;

¹⁸ The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed,

²¹ And in that same hour he cured many people of their diseases and afflictions, and of evil spirits; and to many who were blind he gave sight.

³⁴ The light of the body is the eye: therefore when your eye is good, your whole body also is full of light; but when your eye is bad, your body also is full of darkness. ³⁵ Take heed, then, that the light which is within you is not darkness.

³⁰ And, behold, there are some who are last who shall be first, and there are some who are first who shall be last.

¹⁷ For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world might be saved through him.

¹⁹ And this is the judgment, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

²² For the Father judges no man, but has committed all judgment to the Son: ²³ That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He who does not honour the Son does not honour the Father who has sent him. ²⁴ Truly, truly, I say to you, He who hears my word, and believes him who sent me, has eternal life, and shall not come into judgment; but has passed from death into life. ²⁵ Truly, truly, I say to you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and those who hear shall live. ²⁶ For as the Father has life in himself; so he has granted to the Son to have life in himself; ²⁷ And has given him authority to execute judgment, because he is the Son of man.

¹² Then Jesus spoke again to them, saying, I am the light of the world: he who follows me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

¹⁵ You judge after the flesh; I judge no man.

²⁵ He answered and said, Whether he is a sinner, I do not know: one thing I do know, that, though I was blind, now I see.

³⁶ He answered and said, Who is he, Lord, that I might believe in him? ³⁷ And Jesus said to him, You have both seen him, and it is he who talks with you. ³⁸ And he said, Lord, I believe. And he worshipped him.

⁴⁰ He has blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their hearts, and turn to me, that I should heal them. ⁴¹ These things Isaiah said because he saw his glory and spoke of him.

⁴⁶ I have come as a light into the world, that whoever believes in me should not abide in darkness.

¹⁸ To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and an inheritance along with those who are sanctified by faith in me.

⁷ What then? Israel has not obtained that which it sought; but the elect have obtained it, and the rest were blinded. ⁸ As it is written, God has given them the spirit of stupor, eyes that should not see, and ears that should not hear; down to this day. ⁹ And David says, Let their table be made a snare, and a trap, and a stumbling block, and a retribution to them: ¹⁰ Let their eyes be darkened, that they may not see, and bow down their backs forever.

¹⁶ To the one we are the aroma of death to death; and to the other the aroma of life to life. And who is equal to such a calling?

⁴ For the god of this world has blinded the minds of those who do not believe, lest they should see the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God. ⁵ For we do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus as Lord; and ourselves as your servants for Jesus' sake. ⁶ For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, has shone in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.

¹⁴ Therefore he says, Awaken, you who sleep, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give you light.

¹⁰ And with all wicked deception for those who perish; because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

⁹ But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God; that you should declare the praises of him who has called you out of darkness into his marvellous light.

¹¹ But he who hates his brother is in darkness, and walks in darkness, and does not know where he goes, because the darkness has blinded his eyes.
