²⁰ For which I am an ambassador in chains: that in proclaiming it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

²⁷ What I tell you in the darkness, speak in the light: and what you hear whispered in your ear, proclaim from the housetops. ²⁸ And do not fear those who kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

²⁹ Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.

³³ Then the commander came near, and arrested him, and commanded him to be bound with two chains; and asked who he was, and what he had done.

²⁹ And Paul said, I would to God, that in a short or long time, not only you, but also all who hear me this day, might be as I am, except for these chains.

²⁰ Therefore, for this reason I have called for you, to see you, and to speak with you: because it is for the hope of Israel that I am bound with this chain.

³¹ Preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ, with all boldness, and no man hindered him.

²⁰ Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as if God were making his appeal through us: we beg you on Christ's behalf, be reconciled to God.

¹ For this reason I, Paul, a prisoner of Christ Jesus for you Gentiles,

¹ Therefore I, a prisoner of the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called,

¹⁹ And for me, that words may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel,

⁷ It is right for me to think this way of you all, because I have you in my heart; since both in my imprisonment, and in the defence and confirmation of the gospel, you are all partakers with me of grace.

¹³ So that my imprisonment in Christ has become known throughout the entire praetorian guard, and to all the others; ¹⁴ And many of the brethren, growing confident in the Lord because of my imprisonment, are much more bold to speak the word without fear.

²⁰ According to my earnest expectation and hope, that in nothing shall I be ashamed, but that with all boldness, now as always, Christ shall be exalted in my body, whether by life, or by death.

⁴ That I may make it clear, as I should.

² But even after we had already suffered, and were shamefully treated, as you know, in Philippi, we were bold in our God to speak to you the gospel of God despite much opposition.

¹⁶ May the Lord give mercy to the house of Onesiphorus; for he often refreshed me, and was not ashamed of my chains:

⁹ For which I suffer hardship, even wearing chains like a criminal; but the word of God is not in chains.

¹⁰ I appeal to you for my son Onesimus, whom I have begotten while in these bonds:

¹⁶ By this we know love, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.

³ Beloved, while my whole concern was to write to you about our common salvation, I found it necessary to write and exhort you to earnestly contend for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints.
