² That their hearts might be comforted as they are knit together in love, and that they might gain all the riches of the full assurance that comes from understanding, that they may know the mystery of God, of Christ;

²⁵ At that time Jesus said, I thank you, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and prudent, and have revealed them to babes.

²⁷ All things have been delivered to me by my Father: and no man knows the Son, but the Father; nor does any man know the Father, except the Son, and he to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.

²¹ In that hour Jesus rejoiced in the Holy Spirit, and said, I thank you, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and prudent, and have revealed them to babes: yea, Father; for so it seemed good in your sight. ²² All things have been given to me by my Father: and no man knows who the Son is, but the Father; and who the Father is, but the Son, and he to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.

¹ In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. ² He was in the beginning with God. ³ All things were made by him; and without him was nothing made that was made.

¹⁷ But Jesus answered them, My Father works even until now, and I work.

²³ That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He who does not honour the Son does not honour the Father who has sent him.

⁶⁹ And we believe and have come to know that you are the Christ, the Son of the living God.

³⁰ I and the Father are one.

³⁸ But if I do them, though you do not believe me, believe the works: that you may know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I am in the Father.

⁹ Jesus said to him, Have I been so long with you, and yet you do not know me, Philip? he who has seen me has seen the Father; and how then do you say, Show us the Father? ¹⁰ Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak to you I do not speak of my own accord: but the Father who dwells in me, he does his works. ¹¹ Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me because of the works themselves.

¹⁵ All things that the Father has are mine: therefore I said that he shall take what is mine, and shall show it to you.

³ And this is life eternal, that they might know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.

²¹ That they all may be one; as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that you have sent me. ²² And the glory which you gave me I have given to them; that they may be one, even as we are one: ²³ I in them, and you in me, that they may be made perfectly one; and that the world may know that you have sent me, and have loved them, as you have loved me.

³² And the multitude of those who believed were of one heart and of one soul: and no one said that any of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things in common.

¹³ Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Spirit.

²⁵ Now to him who is able to establish you according to my gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery which was kept secret for long ages past,

¹² Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is from God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us by God.

⁴ Who comforts us in all our troubles, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. ⁵ For as we abundantly share in the sufferings of Christ, so through Christ we also abundantly share in comfort. ⁶ But if we are afflicted, it is for your comfort and salvation; and if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which works in you when you patiently endure the same sufferings which we suffer.

²⁸ There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female: for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

¹⁷ That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: ¹⁸ That the eyes of your heart may be enlightened; so you may know what is the hope of his calling, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, ¹⁹ And what is the incomparable greatness of his power toward us who believe. It is the working of his mighty power,

⁹ And make all men see what is the plan of the mystery, which from past ages has been hidden in God, who created all things: ¹⁰ That now, to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly places, the manifold wisdom of God might be known through the church,

²² I have sent him to you for this very purpose, that you might know our affairs, and that he might comfort your hearts.

¹ If, therefore, there is any encouragement in Christ, if any consolation in love, if any fellowship in the Spirit, if any affection and compassion,

⁸ Furthermore, I count all things as loss compared to the excellency of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may win Christ,

⁹ For this reason, since the day we heard it, we do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;

¹⁵ He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation: ¹⁶ For by him were all things created that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones, or dominions, or rulers, or authorities: all things were created by him, and for him: ¹⁷ And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together.

²⁷ To whom God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the riches of the glory of this mystery; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

¹⁴ And above all these things put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity.

⁸ I have sent him to you for that very purpose, that you might know of our circumstances, and that he might encourage your hearts.

⁵ For our gospel came to you not in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Spirit, and with full conviction. You know what manner of men we were among you for your sake.

² And sent Timothy, our brother, and fellow-worker for God in the gospel of Christ, to establish you, and to comfort you in your faith:

¹⁴ Now we exhort you, brethren, warn those who are idle or unruly, encourage the timid, support the weak, be patient toward all.

¹⁶ Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father, who has loved us, and has given us eternal comfort and good hope through grace, ¹⁷ Comfort your hearts, and establish you in every good work and word.

¹⁶ And beyond question, great is the mystery of godliness: He was revealed in the flesh, vindicated in the Spirit, seen by angels, preached among the nations, believed on in the world, taken up in glory.

¹¹ And we desire that every one of you show the same diligence in realizing the full assurance of hope until the end:

²² Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.

³ Whose divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who has called us by his own glory and virtue:

¹⁰ Therefore, brethren, be all the more diligent to make your calling and election sure: for if you do these things, you shall never fall:

¹⁸ But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever. Amen. ¹⁹ And by this we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him,

¹² No man has seen God at any time, but if we love one another, God abides in us, and his love is perfected in us. ¹³ By this we know that we abide in him, and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit.

⁷ And it is the Spirit who bears witness, because the Spirit is truth.
