²¹ For we take care to do what is honest, not only in the sight of the Lord, but also in the sight of men.

¹⁶ Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.

¹ Take heed that you do not practice your righteousness before men, to be seen by them: otherwise you have no reward from your Father who is in heaven.

⁴ That your alms may be in secret: and your Father who sees in secret shall reward you.

⁵ But all their works they do to be seen by men: they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge the borders of their garments,

¹⁷ Do not repay any man evil for evil, but take thought of those things that are right in the sight of all men.

¹⁸ For he who serves Christ in this way is acceptable to God, and approved by men.

¹⁷ For we are not as so many, who peddle the word of God: but as men of sincerity, as from God, we speak in Christ in the sight of God.

⁹ Therefore we labour, that whether at home or absent, we may please him. ¹⁰ For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive what is due him for the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad. ¹¹ Therefore, knowing the fear of the Lord, we persuade men. But what we are is plain to God; and I also trust it is plain to your consciences.

⁸ Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are honest, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are admirable; if there is any virtue, and if there is anything worthy of praise, think on these things.

²² Abstain from all forms of evil.

¹⁴ Therefore, I want the younger women to marry, bear children, guide the house, and give the adversary no occasion to speak reproachfully.

⁵ To be sensible, chaste, workers at home, kind, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be maligned. ⁶ Likewise, urge the young men to be self-controlled. ⁷ In all things show yourself to be an example of good works, and in your teaching show purity, dignity, ⁸ And sound speech, which cannot be condemned; so that he who is opposed may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of us.

¹² Conduct yourselves righteously among the Gentiles: that, though they speak against you as evildoers, they may behold your good works and glorify God on the day of visitation.
