³ For our exhortation does not spring from error, or impurity, or guile:

³³ I have coveted no man's silver, or gold, or apparel. ³⁴ You yourselves know, that these hands have ministered to my needs, and to the needs of those who were with me.

¹⁷ For we are not as so many, who peddle the word of God: but as men of sincerity, as from God, we speak in Christ in the sight of God.

² But we have renounced the hidden, shameful things, and do not walk in craftiness, nor handle the word of God deceitfully; but by the manifestation of the truth we commend ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God.

⁵ For we do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus as Lord; and ourselves as your servants for Jesus' sake.

² Open your hearts to us; we have wronged no man, we have corrupted no man, we have defrauded no man.

¹³ For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ.

¹⁶ But be that as it may, I did not burden you: nevertheless, being crafty, I caught you with guile. ¹⁷ Did I take advantage of you by any of those whom I sent to you? ¹⁸ I urged Titus to go, and with him I sent the brother. Did Titus take advantage of you? did we not act in the same spirit and walk in the same steps?

⁵ For at no time did we use either flattering words, as you know, or a cloak for greed; as God is witness: ⁶ Nor did we seek glory from men, either from you or from others, when we might have asserted our authority, as the apostles of Christ.

¹¹ Just as you know how we exhorted and comforted and implored every one of you, as a father does his children,

¹ Furthermore, we urge you, brethren, and exhort you in the Lord Jesus, that as you have learned from us how you ought to walk and to please God, as indeed you are doing, so you would do more and more. ² For you know what commandments we gave you by the authority of the Lord Jesus.

⁷ For God has not called us to impurity, but to holiness.

¹¹ And for this reason God shall send them a strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:

¹⁶ For we did not follow cunningly devised fables, when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty.
