¹⁴ But the unspiritual man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God; for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot know them; because they are spiritually discerned.

¹¹ He answered and said, Because to you it hath been given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven; but to them it hath not been given. ¹² For whoever hath, to him will be given, and he will have abundance; but whoever hath not, from him will be taken away even what he hath. ¹³ Therefore I speak to them in parables, because seeing they see not, and hearing they hear not, nor understand. ¹⁴ And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah, which saith, "Ye will hear indeed, and not understand; and ye will see indeed, and not perceive. ¹⁵ For this peoples heart hath become gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed, lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and turn from their ways, and I should heal them." ¹⁶ But blessed are your eyes, for they see; and your ears, for they hear. ¹⁷ Truly do I say to you, that many prophets and righteous men desired to see the things which ye see, and did not see them; and to hear the things which ye hear, and did not hear them.

²³ But he turned and said to Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan! thou art my stumblingblock; for thy thoughts are not on the things of God, but on those of men.

³ Jesus answered and said to him, Truly, truly do I say to thee, Unless a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. ⁴ Nicodemus saith to him, How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter his mothers womb a second time, and be born? ⁵ Jesus answered, Truly, truly do I say to thee, Unless a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of heaven. ⁶ That which is born of the flesh, is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit, is spirit.

⁴⁴ How can ye believe while ye receive honor from one another, and seek not the honor that is from him who alone is God?

⁴⁴ No one can come to me, unless the Father, who sent me, draw him: and I will raise him up in the last day. ⁴⁵ It is written in the prophets, "And they shall all be taught of God." Every one that hath heard the Father, and hath learnt from him, cometh to me.

⁴³ Why do ye not understand my language? It is because ye cannot listen to my word.

⁵¹ Truly, truly do I say to you, If any one keep my word, he will never see death. ⁵² The Jews said to him, Now we know that thou hast a demon. Abraham died, and the prophets; and thou sayest, If any one keep my word, he will never taste of death.

²⁰ Many of them said, He hath a demon, and is mad; why do ye hear him?

²⁶ But ye do not believe, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said to you. ²⁷ My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me;

³⁷ But though he had wrought so many signs before them, they did not believe in him;

²⁶ but the Comforter, the Holy Spirit which the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things which I have said to you.

²⁶ When the Comforter is come, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he will bear witness of me.

⁸ And when he is come, he will bring conviction to the world, of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment. ⁹ Of sin, because they believe not in me; ¹⁰ of righteousness, because I go to the Father, and ye see me no more; ¹¹ of judgment, because the prince of this world hath been judged. ¹² I have yet many things to say to you, but ye cannot bear them now. ¹³ But when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all the truth. For he will not speak from himself, but whatever he shall hear, that he will speak; and he will tell you the things to come. ¹⁴ He will glorify me, for he will receive of what is mine, and will tell it to you. ¹⁵ Every thing that the Father hath is mine. For this cause I said, that he receiveth of what is mine, and will tell it to you.

¹⁴ And a certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of Thyatira, who worshipped God, was listening; whose heart the Lord opened to attend to the things which were spoken by Paul.

¹⁸ And some of the Epicurean and Stoic philosophers also conversed with him. And some said, What doth this babbler mean to say? and others, He seemeth to be a setter forth of foreign gods; because he brought the glad tidings of Jesus and the resurrection.

³² And when they heard of a resurrection of the dead, some mocked; but ethers said, We will hear thee again about this matter.

¹⁵ but if it be questions of doctrine, and names, and your law, look to it yourselves; I will not be a judge of these matters.

¹⁹ but had against him certain questions of their own religion, and of one Jesus that was dead, whom Paul affirmed to be alive.

²⁴ And as he was thus speaking in his defence, Festus said with a loud voice, Paul, thou art beside thyself; much learning is making thee mad. ²⁵ But he saith, I am not mad, most noble Festus, but utter words of truth and soberness.

⁵ For they who are according to the flesh have their mind on the things of the flesh; but they who are according to the Spirit, on the things of the Spirit. ⁶ For the mind of the flesh is death; but the mind of the Spirit life and peace. ⁷ Because the mind of the flesh is enmity against God; for it doth not submit itself to the Law of God, neither indeed can it. ⁸ And they who are in the flesh cannot please God.

¹⁸ For the preaching of the cross is to those who are perishing, foolishness, but to us who are being saved, it is the power of God.

²³ but we preach Christ crucified, to Jews a stumblingblock, and to gentiles foolishness,

¹² But we did not receive the spirit of the world, but the Spirit which is from God, that we might know the things that have been given to us by the grace of God;

⁴⁴ it is sown an animal body, it is raised a spiritual body. If there is an animal body, there is also a spiritual body.

⁴⁶ But the spiritual is not first, but the animal; and afterward the spiritual.

⁴ in whom the God of this world blinded the understandings of the unbelieving, so that they cannot behold the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. ⁵ For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus as Lord, and ourselves your bondservants for Jesus sake. ⁶ For it is God, who commanded light to shine out of darkness, that shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.

¹⁵ This wisdom is not that which descendeth from above, but earthly, sensual, devilish.

²⁰ And ye have an anointing from the Holy One, and know all things.

²⁷ And the anointing which ye yourselves received from him abideth in you, and ye have no need that any one teach you; but as his anointing teacheth you concerning all things, and is truth, and is not a lie, even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

²⁰ And we know that the Son of God hath come, and hath given us understanding, that we may know the True One; and we are in the True One, in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and everlasting life.

¹⁹ These are they that separate themselves, sensual, not having the Spirit.
