¹ ([Psalm of David]) Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brothers to dwell together in unity!

⁸ Abram said to Lot: »Let us not have any quarreling between you and me, or between your herdsmen and mine, for we are brothers.

²⁴ Then he sent his brothers off and told them: »Do not argue on the way home!«

²⁶ Then Abner called to Joab: Must the sword devour forever? Do you not understand it will be bitter to the end? How long before you command the people to return from chasing their brothers? ²⁷ Joab said: »As God lives; if you had not spoken the men would have continued following their brothers.«

¹ ([Psalm of David]) I was glad when they said to me: »Let us go to the house of Jehovah.«

⁶ Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: May those who love you prosper. ⁷ May there be peace inside your walls and prosperity in your palaces. ⁸ For the sake of my brothers and friends let me say: »May it go well for you!«

¹ ([Psalm of David]) »If Jehovah was not on our side,« let Israel now say:

¹ ([Psalm of David]) O Jehovah, my heart is not proud, my eyes are not haughty. I do not involve myself in great matters. I do not get involved in things too difficult for me.

⁶ The wolf will dwell with the lamb, and the leopard will lie down with the young goat, and the calf and the young lion and the well-fed animal together. A little boy will lead them.

⁹ They will not hurt or destroy in my entire holy mountain. This is because the earth will be full of the knowledge of Jehovah just as the waters cover the sea.

¹³ Then the jealousy of Ephraim will depart. Those who harass Judah will be destroyed. Ephraim will not be jealous of Judah, and Judah will not harass Ephraim.

³⁹ »I will give them the same attitude and the same purpose so that they will respect and reverence me as long as they live. This will be for their good and for the good of their children.

³⁵ »All men will know that you are my disciples if you have love for one another.«

²¹ »May they all be united (in agreement) as one. Just as you, Father, are with me, and I am with you. Help them be united with us! That way the world may believe that you sent me.

¹⁰ I appeal to you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing and that there are no divisions among you. You should be perfectly joined together (united) in the same mind and thought.

³ Diligently try to keep the unity (oneness) of the Spirit in the bond of peace. ⁴ There is one body, and one Spirit, even as you also were called in one hope of your calling. ⁵ There is one Lord, one faith, and one baptism. ⁶ There is one God and Father of all, who is over all, and through all, and in all.

² make my joy full by being of the same mind, having the same love, being of one accord, and of one purpose. ³ Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility consider others more important than you. ⁴ Look out for the interest of others and not only for your own personal interest. ⁵ Have this attitude (mind-set) (understanding) (mental state) in you that was also in Christ Jesus.

¹ You should continue to love one another as brothers.

⁸ Finally, all of you be like-minded, compassionate, brotherly, tenderhearted, and humble.

¹⁴ We know that we have passed out of death into life, because we love the brothers. He who does not love abides in death. ¹⁵ Whoever hates his brother is a murderer! You know that no murderer has everlasting life remaining in him. ¹⁶ By this we know love, because he (Jesus) gave his life for us. We ought to lay down our lives for our brothers. ¹⁷ Whoever has this world's goods and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his compassion from him, how does the love of God dwell in him? ¹⁸ My Little children, let us not love in word, neither with the tongue; but in deed and truth. ¹⁹ By this we shall know we are of the truth, and will assure our heart before him.
