¹⁰ Also as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things.

¹¹ For Jehovah God is a sun and shield. Jehovah will give favor and honor. He will not withhold blessing from those who walk faithfully in truth.

¹⁶ How much better to get wisdom than gold! And to get understanding instead of silver!

¹⁹ »Do not accumulate large amounts of wealth on earth. This is where moth and rust consume and where thieves break in and steal. ²⁰ »Accumulate wealth in heaven where neither moth nor rust consumes, and where thieves do not break in and steal.

⁴ »Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.

² We have access to grace (God’s favor) by faith through him. This is where we stand. We rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. ³ Not only that, but we also rejoice in our tribulations knowing that tribulation produces endurance.

¹³ Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Spirit.

²¹ Therefore let no man boast in men. For all things are yours. ²² Whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come; all are yours! ²³ And you belong to Christ and Christ belongs to God.

⁴ For out of much affliction and anguish of heart I wrote to you with many tears. Not that you should be made sorry, but that you might know the love that I have more abundantly for you.

⁷ We have this treasure in earthen vessels that the power beyond what is normal may be from God, and not from ourselves.

¹⁵ All things are for your sakes, that the grace, being multiplied through the many, may cause the thanksgiving to abound to the glory of God.

³ I say it not to condemn you: for I have said before, that you are in our hearts to die together and live together. ⁴ Great is my confidence in you. Great is my boasting on your behalf. I am filled with comfort. I overflow with joy in our entire affliction. ⁵ When we came to Macedonia our flesh had no relief, but we were afflicted on every side, fighting on the outside and fears on the inside. ⁶ Nevertheless he who comforts the lowly, even God, comforted us by the coming of Titus. ⁷ This is not by his coming only, but also by the comfort he brought from you. He told us about your longing, your mourning, and your zeal for me so that I rejoiced yet more. ⁸ For though I made you sorry with my letter, I do not regret it. Though I did regret it (for I see that that letter made you sorry, though but for a season), ⁹ I now rejoice, not because you were made sorry, but that you were made sorry to repentance; for you were made sorry after a godly fashion, that you might not suffer loss by us. ¹⁰ For godly sorrow works repentance leading to salvation. This is a repentance that brings no regret: but the sorrow of the world works death.

⁹ For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. Though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that you through his poverty might become rich.

⁸ To me, the very least of all the holy ones, was given grace (loving divine influence) to preach to the people of the nations the untraceable riches of Christ.

¹⁶ That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, that you may be strengthened with power through his Spirit in the inward man.

⁴ Rejoice in the Lord always; again I say, rejoice!

¹⁷ If I am offered for the sacrifice and service of your faith, I rejoice with you all.

²⁴ I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake. I do my share in behalf of his body, the congregation, to provide what is lacking of the afflictions of Christ.

¹⁶ Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you with all wisdom. Teach and admonish one another with psalms, praises to God, and spiritual songs. Sing with gratitude in your hearts to God.

⁶ You imitated the Lord and us, even though you suffered much affliction. Yet you received the word with the joy that comes from the Holy Spirit.

⁷ Brothers, your faith has comforted us. In all our trouble and suffering we are encouraged. ⁸ Now we live, if you (persevere) stand fast in the Lord. ⁹ What thanks can we render to God for you and for all the joy we have for your sakes before our God? ¹⁰ Night and day we pray exceedingly that we might see you in person, and might perfect (restore) (repair) that which is lacking in your faith.

¹⁶ Rejoice always.

⁸ Bodily exercise is profitable for a little. However, godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life that now is and of the life that is to come.

¹⁸ They should do good works and be rich in good works, that they are ready to distribute, willing to communicate.

³⁴ You shared the sufferings of prisoners. When all your belongings were seized, you endured your loss gladly. This is because you knew that you possessed something much better, which would last forever.

² Count it all joy, my brothers, when you encounter various trials. ³ Know that the testing of your faith produces patience (endurance). ⁴ Let patience have its perfect work, that you may be mature, complete, and lacking in nothing.

⁶ You greatly rejoice in this, though you have been grieved with various trials for a little while. ⁷ The proof of your faith is more precious than gold that perishes. Though it is tested by fire, it may be found in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ. ⁸ You love him without seeing him. Though you do not see him, you believe in him. Full of glory, you rejoice greatly with indescribable joy.

⁵ Listen, my dearly beloved brothers! Did God choose poor people in the world to be rich in faith and to receive the kingdom he promised to those who love him?

¹³ As much as you are partakers of Christ’s sufferings, rejoice; that at the revelation of his glory you also may rejoice with exceeding joy.

⁹ »'I know your troubles. I know that you are poor, but you are rich! I know the evil things said against you by those who claim to be Jews but are not. Their synagogue belongs to Satan!

⁷ »He who overcomes will inherit all things. I will be his God, and he will be my son.
