⁹ Let a widow be put on the list if she is under sixty years old, having been the wife of one man,

³⁶ Anna the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher was a very old prophetess. ³⁷ She had been a widow eighty-four years. She never left the temple. She worshipped and fasted with supplications day and night.

¹⁰ To the married I command, yet not I, but the Lord commands do not let the wife depart from her husband. ¹¹ If she leaves, let her remain unmarried or become reconciled to her husband. A husband should not divorce his wife.

³⁹ The wife is bound to her husband as long as he lives. If her husband dies, she is free to marry whom she wishes, only in the Lord. ⁴⁰ But she is happier if she remains as she is. This is my opinion and I think I also have the Spirit of God.

³ Honor widows that are truly widows. ⁴ But if any widow has children or grandchildren, let them learn first to show righteousness towards their own family, and to repay their parents: for this is acceptable in the sight of God.

¹¹ Refuse younger widows: for when their sexual impulses come between them and Christ, they desire to marry.

¹⁴ I desire therefore that the younger widows marry, bear children, rule the household, and give no occasion to the adversary for reviling.

² The overseer therefore must be without reproach, the husband of one wife, temperate in habits, sound in mind, orderly, hospitable, qualified to teach;

¹² Let servants be husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well.
