¹ Or do you not know, brothers (for I speak to those who know the law), that the law has authority over a person for as long as he lives?

²⁵ You, Ezra, after the wisdom of your God who is in your hand, appoint magistrates and judges, who may judge all the people who are beyond the River, all such as know the laws of your God; and teach him who doesn't know them.

²³ For the commandment is a lamp, and the Law is light. Reproofs of instruction are the way of life,

¹³ Now I do not desire to have you unaware, brothers, that I often planned to come to you, and was hindered so far, that I might have some fruit among you also, even as among the other non-Jewish people.

¹⁷ But if you call yourself a Jew, and rely on the law, and boast in God, ¹⁸ and know his will, and approve the things that are excellent, being instructed out of the law,

³ Or do you not know that all we who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?

¹⁴ For sin will not have dominion over you. For you are not under law, but under grace.

⁶ But now we have been released from the law, having died to that which held us captive, so that we serve in newness of the Spirit, and not in oldness of the letter.

³ For I could wish that I myself were accursed from Christ for my brothers' sake, my physical relatives according to the flesh,

¹ Brothers, my heart's desire and my prayer to God is for them, that they may be saved.

⁸ Do I say these things according to human authority? Or does not the Law also say the same thing?

²¹ Tell me, you that desire to be under the law, do you not listen to the law?
