¹³ Blessed is the man who finds wisdom, the man who gets understanding.

¹ When the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon concerning the name of the LORD, she came to prove him with hard questions. ² She came to Jerusalem with a very great train, with camels that bore spices, and very much gold, and precious stones; and when she had come to Solomon, she talked with him of all that was in her heart. ³ Solomon told her all her questions: there was not anything hidden from the king which he did not tell her. ⁴ When the queen of Sheba had seen all the wisdom of Solomon, and the house that he had built, ⁵ and the food of his table, and the sitting of his servants, and the attendance of his ministers, and their clothing, and his cup bearers, and his burnt offerings which he presented at the house of the LORD; it left her breathless. ⁶ She said to the king, "It was a true report that I heard in my own land of your acts, and of your wisdom. ⁷ However I did not believe the words, until I came, and my eyes had seen it. Look, the half was not told me. Your wisdom and prosperity exceed the fame which I heard. ⁸ Happy are your wives, happy are these your servants, who stand continually before you, who hear your wisdom. ⁹ Blessed is the LORD your God, who delighted in you, to set you on the throne of Israel. Because of the LORD's everlasting love for Israel, therefore he made you king, to do justice and righteousness."

²³ So king Solomon exceeded all the kings of the earth in riches and in wisdom. ²⁴ All the earth sought the presence of Solomon, to hear his wisdom, which God had put in his heart.

⁴ If you seek her as silver, and search for her as for hidden treasures:

⁵ Get wisdom. Get understanding. Do not forget, neither swerve from the words of my mouth. ⁶ Do not forsake her, and she will preserve you. Love her, and she will keep you. ⁷ Wisdom is supreme. Get wisdom. Yes, though it costs all your possessions, get understanding. ⁸ Esteem her, and she will exalt you. She will bring you to honor, when you embrace her. ⁹ She will give to your head a garland of grace. She will deliver a crown of splendor to you."

³² "Now therefore, son, listen to me, for blessed are those who keep my ways. ³³ Hear instruction, and be wise. Do not refuse it. ³⁴ Blessed is the man who hears me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at my door posts. ³⁵ For whoever finds me, finds life, and will obtain favor from the LORD.

¹ An unfriendly man pursues selfishness, and defies all sound judgment.

¹⁵ Now a poor wise man was found in it, and he by his wisdom delivered the city; yet no man remembered that same poor man. ¹⁶ Then said I, Wisdom is better than strength. Nevertheless the poor man's wisdom is despised, and his words are not heard. ¹⁷ The words of the wise heard in quiet are better than the cry of him who rules among fools. ¹⁸ Wisdom is better than weapons of war; but one sinner destroys much good.
