³ A prudent man sees danger, and hides himself; but the simple pass on, and suffer for it.

²⁰ Those who feared the word of the LORD among the servants of Pharaoh made their servants and their livestock flee into the houses. ²¹ Whoever did not regard the word of the LORD left his servants and his livestock in the field.

⁷ I saw among the simple ones. I discerned among the youths a young man void of understanding,

²² He followed her immediately, as an ox goes to the slaughter, as a stag leaping into a trap, ²³ till an arrow strikes through his liver, as a bird hurries to the snare, and doesn't know that it will cost his life.

¹⁶ "Whoever is simple, let him turn in here." as for him who is void of understanding, she says to him, ¹⁷ "Stolen water is sweet. Food eaten in secret is pleasant." ¹⁸ But he doesn't know that the dead are there, that her guests are in the depths of Sheol.

¹⁶ A wise man is cautious and turns away from evil, but the fool is arrogant and reckless.

²⁰ Come, my people, enter into your chambers, and shut your doors behind you. Hide yourself for a little moment, until the indignation is past. ²¹ For, look, the LORD comes forth out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity. The earth also will disclose her blood, and will no longer cover her slain.

¹⁵ "When, therefore, you see the abomination of desolation, which was spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place (let the reader understand), ¹⁶ then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. ¹⁷ Let him who is on the housetop not go down to take out things that are in his house. ¹⁸ Let him who is in the field not return back to take his coat.

² For you yourselves know well that the day of the Lord comes like a thief in the night. ³ Now when they are saying, "Peace and safety," then sudden destruction will come on them, like birth pains on a pregnant woman; and they will in no way escape. ⁴ But you, brothers, are not in darkness, that the day should overtake you like a thief. ⁵ You are all children of light, and children of the day. We do not belong to the night, nor to darkness, ⁶ so then let us not sleep, as the rest do, but let us watch and be sober.

¹⁸ that by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we may have a strong encouragement, who have fled for refuge to take hold of the hope set before us.

⁷ By faith, Noah, being warned about things not yet seen, in reverence prepared a box-shaped vessel for the salvation of his household, through which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith.
