⁷ When a man's ways please the LORD, he makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.

⁴¹ Esau hated Jacob because of the blessing with which his father blessed him. Esau said in his heart, "The days of mourning for my father are at hand. Then I will kill my brother Jacob."

⁶ The messengers returned to Jacob, saying, "We came to your brother Esau. Not only that, but he comes to meet you, and four hundred men with him." ⁷ Then Jacob was very afraid and was distressed. He divided the people who were with him, and the flocks, and the herds, and the camels, into two camps;

²⁸ Then he said, "Your name will no longer be called Jacob, but Israel, because you have struggled with God and with men and have prevailed."

⁴ Esau ran to meet him, embraced him, hugged his neck, and kissed him. And they wept.

¹⁰ The fear of the LORD fell on all the kingdoms of the lands that were around Judah, so that they made no war against Jehoshaphat.

³¹ It will please the LORD better than an ox, or a bull that has horns and hoofs.

¹¹ The LORD said, "Most certainly I will strengthen you for good; most certainly I will cause the enemy to make petition to you in the time of evil and in the time of distress.

¹ But Saul, still breathing threats and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest, ² and asked for letters from him to the synagogues of Damascus, that if he found any who were of the Way, whether men or women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem.

¹⁹ He took food and was strengthened. He stayed several days with the disciples who were at Damascus. ²⁰ Immediately in the synagogues he proclaimed Jesus, that he is the Son of God.

³¹ What then are we to say about these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?

¹⁸ But I have received everything in full, and I have an abundance. I am fully supplied, having received from Epaphroditus the things that came from you, a sweet-smelling fragrance, an acceptable and well-pleasing sacrifice to God.

¹⁰ that you may walk worthily of the Lord, to please him in every way, bearing fruit in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;

²⁰ Children, obey your parents in all things, for this pleases the Lord.

²¹ make you complete in every good thing to do his will, working in us that which is well pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory forever. Amen.

²² and whatever we ask, we receive from him, because we keep his commandments and do the things that are pleasing in his sight.
