¹ Since many have undertaken to set in order a narrative concerning those matters which have been fulfilled among us, ² even as those who from the beginning were eyewitnesses and servants of the word delivered them to us, ³ it seemed good to me also, having traced the course of all things accurately from the first, to write to you in order, most excellent Theophilus; ⁴ that you might know the certainty concerning the things in which you were instructed. ⁵ There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judea, a certain priest named Zechariah, of the division of Abijah. He had a wife of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elizabeth. ⁶ They were both righteous before God, walking blamelessly in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord. ⁷ But they had no child, because Elizabeth was barren, and they both were well advanced in years. ⁸ Now it happened, while he was performing the priest's office before God in the order of his division, ⁹ according to the custom of the priest's office, his lot was to enter into the temple of the Lord and burn incense. ¹⁰ And the whole crowd of people were praying outside at the hour of incense. ¹¹ An angel of the Lord appeared to him, standing on the right side of the altar of incense. ¹² Zechariah was troubled when he saw him, and fear fell upon him. ¹³ But the angel said to him, "Do not be afraid, Zechariah, because your request has been heard, and your wife, Elizabeth, will bear you a son, and you are to name him John. ¹⁴ You will have joy and gladness; and many will rejoice at his birth. ¹⁵ For he will be great in the sight of the Lord, and he will drink no wine nor strong drink. He will be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother's womb. ¹⁶ He will turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord, their God. ¹⁷ He will go before him in the spirit and power of Elijah, 'to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children,' and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord." ¹⁸ Zechariah said to the angel, "How can I be sure of this? For I am an old man, and my wife is well advanced in years." ¹⁹ The angel answered him, "I am Gabriel, who stands in the presence of God. I was sent to speak to you, and to bring you this good news. ²⁰ And look, you will be silent and not able to speak, until the day that these things will happen, because you did not believe my words, which will be fulfilled in their proper time." ²¹ The people were waiting for Zechariah, and they were wondering why he was delayed in the temple. ²² When he came out, he could not speak to them, and they perceived that he had seen a vision in the temple. He continued making signs to them, and remained mute. ²³ It happened, when the days of his service were fulfilled, he departed to his house. ²⁴ After these days Elizabeth, his wife, conceived, and she hid herself five months, saying, ²⁵ "Thus has the Lord done to me in the days in which he looked at me, to take away my disgrace among people." ²⁶ Now in the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee, named Nazareth, ²⁷ to a virgin pledged to be married to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin's name was Mary. ²⁸ Having come in, the angel said to her, "Greetings, favored one. The Lord is with you." ²⁹ But when she saw him, she was greatly troubled at the saying, and considered what kind of salutation this might be. ³⁰ The angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. ³¹ And look, you will conceive in your womb, and bring forth a son, and will call his name 'Jesus.' ³² He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father, David, ³³ and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever. There will be no end to his Kingdom." ³⁴ Mary said to the angel, "How can this be, seeing I am a virgin?" ³⁵ The angel answered her, "The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. Therefore also the holy one who is born will be called the Son of God. ³⁶ And look, Elizabeth, your relative, also has conceived a son in her old age; and this is the sixth month with her who was called barren. ³⁷ For with God nothing will be impossible." ³⁸ And Mary said, "See, the handmaid of the Lord; be it to me according to your word." The angel departed from her. ³⁹ Mary arose in those days and went into the hill country with haste, into a city of Judah, ⁴⁰ and entered into the house of Zechariah and greeted Elizabeth. ⁴¹ It happened, when Elizabeth heard Mary's greeting, that the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. ⁴² She called out with a loud voice, and said, "Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb. ⁴³ Why am I so favored, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? ⁴⁴ For look, when the voice of your greeting came into my ears, the baby leaped in my womb for joy. ⁴⁵ Blessed is she who believed, for there will be a fulfillment of the things which have been spoken to her from the Lord." ⁴⁶ Mary said, "My soul magnifies the Lord. ⁴⁷ And my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, ⁴⁸ for he has looked at the humble state of his servant girl. For look, from now on all generations will call me blessed. ⁴⁹ For he who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is his name. ⁵⁰ His mercy is for generations of generations on those who fear him. ⁵¹ He has shown strength with his arm. He has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts. ⁵² He has put down princes from their thrones. And has exalted the lowly. ⁵³ He has filled the hungry with good things. He has sent the rich away empty. ⁵⁴ He has given help to Israel, his servant, that he might remember mercy, ⁵⁵ As he spoke to our fathers, to Abraham and his offspring forever." ⁵⁶ Mary stayed with her about three months, and then returned to her house. ⁵⁷ Now the time that Elizabeth should give birth was fulfilled, and she brought forth a son. ⁵⁸ Her neighbors and her relatives heard that the Lord had magnified his mercy towards her, and they rejoiced with her. ⁵⁹ It happened on the eighth day, that they came to circumcise the child; and they would have called him Zechariah, after the name of the father. ⁶⁰ His mother answered, "Not so; but he will be called John." ⁶¹ They said to her, "There is no one among your relatives who is called by this name." ⁶² They made signs to his father, what he would have him called. ⁶³ And he asked for a writing tablet, and wrote, "His name is John." And they were all amazed. ⁶⁴ His mouth was opened immediately, and his tongue freed, and he spoke, blessing God. ⁶⁵ Fear came on all who lived around them, and all these sayings were talked about throughout all the hill country of Judea. ⁶⁶ All who heard them laid them up in their heart, saying, "What then will this child be?" The hand of the Lord was with him. ⁶⁷ His father, Zechariah, was filled with the Holy Spirit, and prophesied, saying, ⁶⁸ "Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, for he has visited and worked redemption for his people; ⁶⁹ and has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David ⁷⁰ (as he spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets who have been from of old), ⁷¹ salvation from our enemies, and from the hand of all who hate us; ⁷² to show mercy towards our fathers, to remember his holy covenant, ⁷³ the oath which he spoke to Abraham, our father, ⁷⁴ to grant to us that we, being delivered out of the hand of our enemies, should serve him without fear, ⁷⁵ In holiness and righteousness before him all our days. ⁷⁶ And you, child, will be called a prophet of the Most High, for you will go before the Lord to make ready his ways, ⁷⁷ to give knowledge of salvation to his people by the forgiveness of their sins, ⁷⁸ because of the tender mercy of our God, whereby the dawn from on high will visit us, ⁷⁹ to shine on those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death; to guide our feet into the way of peace." ⁸⁰ The child was growing, and becoming strong in spirit, and was in the desert until the day of his public appearance to Israel.

³¹ but these are written, that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in his name.

¹ The first account I wrote, Theophilus, concerned all that Jesus began both to do and to teach, ² until the day in which he was received up, after he had given commandment through the Holy Spirit to the apostles whom he had chosen. ³ To these he also showed himself alive after he suffered, by many proofs, appearing to them over a period of forty days, and speaking about God's Kingdom.

¹⁶ Without controversy, the mystery of godliness is great: He was revealed in the flesh, justified by the Spirit, seen by angels, preached among the nations, believed on in the world, and received up in glory.

¹⁷ But the Lord stood by me, and strengthened me, that through me the message might be fully proclaimed, and that all the non-Jewish people might hear; and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.

¹⁶ For we did not follow cunningly devised tales, when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty. ¹⁷ For he received from God the Father honor and glory, when the voice came to him from the Majestic Glory, "This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased." ¹⁸ We heard this voice come out of heaven when we were with him on the holy mountain. ¹⁹ We have the more sure word of prophecy; and you do well that you heed it, as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns, and the morning star arises in your hearts:

¹ The beginning of the Good News of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

¹⁴ The farmer sows the word.

⁴⁸ You are witnesses of these things.

²⁷ And you will also testify, because you have been with me from the beginning.

³ To these he also showed himself alive after he suffered, by many proofs, appearing to them over a period of forty days, and speaking about God's Kingdom.

⁸ But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you. You will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the farthest part of the earth."

²¹ "Of the men therefore who have accompanied us all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us, ²² beginning from the baptism of John, to the day that he was received up from us, of these one must become a witness with us of his resurrection."

²⁰ for we cannot help telling the things which we saw and heard."

³⁹ We are witnesses of everything he did both in the land of the Jews and in Jerusalem, whom they also killed by hanging on a tree. ⁴⁰ God raised him up the third day, and gave him to be revealed, ⁴¹ not to all the people, but to witnesses who were chosen before by God, to us, who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead.

¹⁶ But arise, and stand on your feet, for I have appeared to you for this purpose: to appoint you a servant and a witness both of the things which you have seen me, and of the things which I will reveal to you;

¹⁶ that I should be a servant of Christ Jesus to the non-Jews, serving as a priest the Good News of God, that the offering up of the non-Jews might be made acceptable, sanctified by the Holy Spirit.

¹ So a person should consider us as Christ's servants, and stewards of God's mysteries.

⁷ of which I was made a servant, according to the gift of that grace of God which was given me according to the working of his power. ⁸ To me, the very least of all saints, was this grace given, to proclaim to the non-Jews the unsearchable riches of Christ,

¹¹ He gave some to be apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; ¹² for the perfecting of the saints, to the work of serving, to the building up of the body of Christ;

²³ if it is so that you continue in the faith, established and firm, and not moved away from the hope of the Good News which you heard, which is being proclaimed in all creation under heaven; of which I, Paul, have become a servant. ²⁴ Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and I am completing in my flesh what is lacking in the sufferings of Christ for the sake of his body, which is the church; ²⁵ of which I was made a servant, according to the stewardship of God which was given me toward you, to fulfill the word of God,

³ how will we escape if we neglect so great a salvation—which at the first having been spoken through the Lord, was confirmed to us by those who heard;

¹ Therefore, I exhort the elders among you, as a fellow elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and who will also share in the glory that will be revealed.

¹⁶ For we did not follow cunningly devised tales, when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty.

¹ That which was from the beginning, that which we have heard, that which we have seen with our eyes, that which we saw, and our hands touched, concerning the Word of life ² (and the life was revealed, and we have seen, and testify, and declare to you the life, the eternal life, which was with the Father, and was revealed to us); ³ that which we have seen and heard we declare to you also, that you also may have fellowship with us. Yes, and our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son, Jesus Christ.

⁵ Many, LORD, my God, are the wonderful works which you have done, and your thoughts which are toward us. They can't be declared back to you. If I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.

²¹ You have done these things, and I kept silent. You thought that I was just like you. I will rebuke you, and accuse you in front of your eyes.

⁹ Further, because the Preacher was wise, he still taught the people knowledge. Yes, he pondered, sought out, and set in order many proverbs.

⁴ But Peter began, and explained to them in order, saying,

¹⁹ "Therefore my judgment is that we do not trouble those from among the non-Jewish people who turn to God,

²⁵ it seemed good to us, having come to one accord, to choose out men and send them to you with our beloved Barnabas and Paul,

²⁸ For it seemed good to the Holy Spirit, and to us, to lay no greater burden on you than these necessary things:

²⁶ "Claudius Lysias to the most excellent governor Felix: Greetings.

³ we accept it in all ways and in all places, most excellent Felix, with all thankfulness.

²⁵ But he said, "I am not crazy, most excellent Festus, but boldly declare words of truth and reasonableness.

⁴⁰ But she is happier if she stays as she is, in my judgment, and I think that I also have God's Spirit.

¹² Now concerning Apollos, the brother, I strongly urged him to come to you with the brothers; and it was not at all his desire to come now; but he will come when he has an opportunity.

²⁵ This man had been instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in spirit, he spoke and taught accurately the things concerning Jesus, although he knew only the baptism of John.

¹⁸ and know his will, and approve the things that are excellent, being instructed out of the law,

¹⁹ However in the church I would rather speak five words with my understanding, that I might instruct others also, than ten thousand words in another language.

⁶ But let him who is taught in the word share all good things with him who teaches.

¹⁵ Yes, I will make every effort that you may always be able to remember these things even after my departure. ¹⁶ For we did not follow cunningly devised tales, when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty.

¹⁰ the seventh to Hakkoz, the eighth to Abijah,

¹⁹ This was their ordering in their service, to come into the house of the LORD according to the ordinance given to them by Aaron their father, as the LORD, the God of Israel, had commanded him.

⁴ Iddo, Ginnethon, Abijah,

¹⁷ of Abijah, Zikri; of Minjamin, of Moadiah, Piltai;

¹ Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, look, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem, saying,

⁹ These are the generations of Noah. Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time. Noah walked with God.

¹ And God said to Noah, "Come with all of your household into the vessel, for I have seen your righteousness before me in this generation.

¹ When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said to him, "I am El Shaddai. Walk before me, and be blameless.

⁴ As for you, if you will walk before me, as David your father walked, in integrity of heart, and in uprightness, to do according to all that I have commanded you, and will keep my statutes and my ordinances;

³ "Remember now, LORD, I beg you, how I have walked before you in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in your sight." Hezekiah wept bitterly.

¹ There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job, and that man was blameless and upright, and one who feared God, and turning away from evil.

⁸ The LORD said to Satan, "Have you considered my servant, Job? For there is none like him in the earth, a blameless and an upright man, one who fears God, and turns away from evil."

² "Truly I know that it is so, but how can man be just with God?

⁶ Then I wouldn't be disappointed, when I consider all of your commandments.

¹⁵ He said to them, "You are those who justify yourselves in the sight of people, but God knows your hearts. For that which is exalted among people is an abomination in the sight of God.

¹ Paul, looking steadfastly at the council, said, "Brothers, I have lived before God in all good conscience until this day."

¹⁶ This being so, I also do my best to always have a clear conscience toward God and people.

⁹ What then? Are we better than they? No, in no way. For we previously warned both Jews and Greeks, that they are all under sin. ¹⁰ As it is written, "There is no one righteous; no, not one." ¹¹ "There is no one who understands. There is no one who seeks after God. ¹² They have all turned aside. They have together become unprofitable. There is no one who does good, there is not even one." ¹³ "Their throat is an open tomb. With their tongues they have used deceit." "Viper's poison is under their lips;" ¹⁴ "Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness." ¹⁵ "Their feet are swift to shed blood. ¹⁶ Destruction and calamity are in their paths. ¹⁷ The way of peace, they have not known." ¹⁸ "There is no fear of God before their eyes." ¹⁹ Now we know that whatever things the law says, it speaks to those who are under the law, that every mouth may be closed, and all the world may be brought under the judgment of God. ²⁰ Because by the works of the law, no flesh will be justified in his sight. For through the law comes the knowledge of sin. ²¹ But now apart from the law, a righteousness of God has been revealed, being testified by the Law and the Prophets; ²² even the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. For there is no distinction, ²³ for all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God; ²⁴ being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus; ²⁵ whom God set forth whom God displayed publicly as a mercy seat, through faith in his blood, for a demonstration of his righteousness, because in God's forbearance he had passed over the sins previously committed;

² Now I praise you, that you remember me in all things, and hold firm the traditions, even as I delivered them to you.

¹² For our boasting is this: the testimony of our conscience, that with pure motives and sincerity of God, not in fleshly wisdom but in the grace of God we conducted ourselves in the world, and more abundantly toward you.

¹⁵ that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you are seen as lights in the world,

⁶ concerning zeal, persecuting the church; concerning the righteousness which is in the law, found blameless. ⁷ However, what things were gain to me, these have I counted loss for Christ. ⁸ More than that, I count all things to be a loss compared to the far greater value of knowing Christ Jesus, my Lord, for whom I suffered the loss of all things, and count them nothing but refuse, that I may gain Christ ⁹ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own, that which is of the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith;

²² yet now he has reconciled in the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and without blemish and blameless before him,

¹³ to the end he may establish your hearts blameless in holiness before our God and Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus with all his saints.

¹¹ For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all people, ¹² instructing us to say "No" to ungodliness and worldly desires, and to live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present age; ¹³ looking for the blessed hope and appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ; ¹⁴ who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify for himself a people for his own possession, zealous for good works.

³ For we were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another. ⁴ But when the kindness of God our Savior and his love toward humankind appeared, ⁵ not by works of righteousness, which we did ourselves, but according to his mercy, he saved us, through the washing of rebirth and renewing by the Holy Spirit, ⁶ whom he poured out on us richly, through Jesus Christ our Savior; ⁷ that, being justified by his grace, we might be made heirs according to the hope of everlasting life.

¹⁴ Therefore, beloved, seeing that you look for these things, be diligent to be found in peace, without blemish and blameless in his sight.

³ This is how we know that we know him: if we keep his commandments.

²⁹ If you know that he is righteous, you know that everyone also who practices righteousness is born of him.

⁷ Children, let no one lead you astray. He who does righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.

² Abram said, "Lord, what will you give me, seeing I go childless, and the heir of my estate is Eliezer of Damascus?" ³ Then Abram said, "Look, to me you have given no offspring, and look, one born in my house is my heir."

¹ Now Sarai, Abram's wife, bore him no children, but she had an Egyptian servant whose name was Hagar. ² Sarai said to Abram, "Look now, God has prevented me from bearing. Please go in to my servant. It may be that I will obtain children by her." Abram listened to the voice of Sarai.

¹⁷ Then Abraham fell on his face, and laughed, and said in his heart, "Will a child be born to him who is one hundred years old? Will Sarah, who is ninety years old, give birth?"

¹¹ Now Abraham and Sarah were old, well advanced in age. Sarah was past the age of childbearing.

²¹ Isaac prayed for his wife, because she was barren. And God was moved by his prayer, and Rebekah his wife conceived.

¹ When Rachel saw that she was not bearing Jacob any children, Rachel envied her sister. She said to Jacob, "Give me children, or else I will die."

² There was a certain man of Zorah, of the family of the Danites, whose name was Manoah; and his wife was barren, and did not bear. ³ The angel of the LORD appeared to the woman, and said to her, "See now, you are barren, and do not bear; but you shall conceive, and bear a son.

² And he had two wives; the name of the one was Hannah, and the name of other Peninnah. And Peninnah had children, but Hannah had no children.

⁵ but to Hannah he gave a double portion; for he loved Hannah, but the LORD had shut up her womb. ⁶ Her rival taunted her severely, to irritate her, because the LORD had shut up her womb. ⁷ As he did so year by year, when she went up to the house of the LORD, so she taunted her; therefore she wept, and did not eat. ⁸ Elkanah her husband said to her, "Hannah, why do you weep? Why do you not eat? Why is your heart grieved? Am I not better to you than ten sons?"

¹ Now king David was old and advanced in years; and they covered him with clothes, but he couldn't keep warm.

¹⁴ He said, "What then is to be done for her?" Gehazi answered, "Most certainly she has no son, and her husband is old."

¹⁹ And not being weak in faith, he considered his own body, which was as good as dead (he being about a hundred years old), and the deadness of Sarah's womb.

¹¹ By faith, even barren Sarah herself received power to conceive when she was past age, and gave birth, since she considered him faithful who had promised.

¹ "Bring Aaron your brother, and his sons with him, near to you from among the children of Israel, that he may minister to me in the priest's office, even Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar, Aaron's sons.

⁴¹ You shall put them on Aaron your brother, and on his sons with him, and shall anoint them, and consecrate them, and sanctify them, that they may minister to me in the priest's office.

¹ "This is the thing that you shall do to them to make them holy, to minister to me in the priest's office: take one young bull and two rams without blemish,

⁹ You shall dress them with belts, Aaron and his sons, and bind headbands on them: and they shall have the priesthood by a perpetual statute: and you shall consecrate Aaron and his sons.

⁴⁴ I will sanctify the Tent of Meeting and the altar: Aaron also and his sons I will sanctify, to minister to me in the priest's office.

³⁰ You shall anoint Aaron and his sons, and sanctify them, that they may minister to me in the priest's office.

⁷ You and your sons with you shall keep your priesthood for everything concerning the altar, and for that inside the veil; and you shall serve: I give you the priesthood as a service of gift: and the stranger who comes near shall be put to death."

² But Nadab and Abihu died before their father, and had no children: therefore Eleazar and Ithamar executed the priest's office.

¹⁴ He appointed, according to the ordinance of David his father, the divisions of the priests to their service, and the Levites to their offices, to praise, and to minister before the priests, as the duty of every day required; the doorkeepers also by their divisions at every gate: for so had David the man of God commanded.

¹⁴ For the Levites left their suburbs and their possession, and came to Judah and Jerusalem: for Jeroboam and his sons cast them off, that they should not execute the priest's office to the LORD;

² Hezekiah appointed the divisions of the priests and the Levites after their divisions, every man according to his service, both the priests and the Levites, for burnt offerings and for peace offerings, to minister, and to give thanks, and to praise in the gates of the camp of the LORD.

¹⁹ Also for the descendants of Aaron the priests, who were in the fields of the suburbs of their cities, in every city, there were men who were mentioned by name, to give portions to all the males among the priests, and to all who were reckoned by genealogy among the Levites.

¹⁸ They set the priests in their divisions, and the Levites in their courses, for the service of God, which is at Jerusalem; as it is written in the book of Moses.

⁵ There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judea, a certain priest named Zechariah, of the division of Abijah. He had a wife of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elizabeth.

⁷ Aaron shall burn incense of sweet spices on it every morning. When he tends the lamps, he shall burn it. ⁸ When Aaron lights the lamps at evening, he shall burn it, a perpetual incense before the LORD throughout your generations.

²⁵ He made the altar of incense of acacia wood. It was square: its length was twenty-one inches, and its breadth twenty-one inches. Its height was three feet five inches. Its horns were of one piece with it. ²⁶ He overlaid it with pure gold, its top, its sides around it, and its horns. He made a gold molding around it. ²⁷ He made two golden rings for it under its molding crown, on its two ribs, on its two sides, for places for poles with which to carry it. ²⁸ He made the poles of acacia wood, and overlaid them with gold. ²⁹ He made the holy anointing oil and the pure incense of sweet spices, after the art of the perfumer.

⁴⁰ to be a memorial to the children of Israel, to the end that no stranger, who isn't of the descendants of Aaron, comes near to burn incense before the LORD; that he not be as Korah, and as his company: as the LORD spoke to him by Moses.

²⁸ And I chose him out of all the tribes of Israel to be my priest, to go up to my altar, to burn incense, to wear an ephod before me. And I gave to the house of your father all the offerings by fire of the children of Israel as food.

⁴⁹ But Aaron and his sons offered on the altar of burnt offering, and on the altar of incense, for all the work of the most holy place, and to make atonement for Israel, according to all that Moses the servant of God had commanded.

¹³ The sons of Amram: Aaron and Moses; and Aaron was separated, that he should sanctify the most holy things, he and his sons, forever, to burn incense before the LORD, to minister to him, and to bless in his name, forever.

¹⁶ But when he was strong, his heart was lifted up, so that he did corruptly, and he trespassed against the LORD his God; for he went into the LORD's temple to burn incense on the altar of incense.

¹¹ My sons, do not be negligent now; for the LORD has chosen you to stand before him, to minister to him, and that you should be his ministers, and burn incense."

⁶ Now these things having been thus prepared, the priests go in continually into the first tabernacle, accomplishing the services,

¹⁷ There shall be no one in the Tent of Meeting when he enters to make atonement in the Holy Place, until he comes out, and has made atonement for himself and for his household, and for all the assembly of Israel.

¹⁴ Having then a great high priest, who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold tightly to our confession.

²⁴ For Christ hasn't entered into holy places made with hands, which are representations of the true, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us;

³ Another angel came and stood over the altar, having a golden censer. Much incense was given to him to offer up, with the prayers of all the saints, on the golden altar which was before the throne.

¹ "You shall make an altar to burn incense on. You shall make it of acacia wood. ² Its length shall be a twenty-one inches, and its breadth twenty-one inches. It shall be square, and its height shall be three feet five inches. ³ You shall overlay it with pure gold, its top, its sides around it, and its horns; and you shall make a gold molding around it. ⁴ You shall make two golden rings for it under its molding; on its two ribs, on its two sides you shall make them; and they shall be for places for poles with which to bear it. ⁵ You shall make the poles of acacia wood, and overlay them with gold. ⁶ You shall put it before the veil that is by the ark of the testimony, before the mercy seat that is over the testimony, where I will meet with you. ⁷ Aaron shall burn incense of sweet spices on it every morning. When he tends the lamps, he shall burn it. ⁸ When Aaron lights the lamps at evening, he shall burn it, a perpetual incense before the LORD throughout your generations. ⁹ You shall offer no strange incense on it, nor burnt offering, nor meal offering; and you shall pour no drink offering on it. ¹⁰ Aaron shall make atonement on its horns once in the year; with the blood of the sin offering of atonement once in the year he shall make atonement for it throughout your generations. It is most holy to the LORD."

²⁶ He put the golden altar in the Tent of Meeting before the veil; ²⁷ and he burnt incense of sweet spices on it, as the LORD commanded Moses.

¹³ and he shall put the incense on the fire before the LORD, that the cloud of the incense may cover the mercy seat that is on the testimony, so that he will not die.

³ The angel of the LORD appeared to the woman, and said to her, "See now, you are barren, and do not bear; but you shall conceive, and bear a son.

⁹ God listened to the voice of Manoah; and the angel of God came again to the woman as she sat in the field: but Manoah, her husband, wasn't with her.

¹⁹ The angel answered him, "I am Gabriel, who stands in the presence of God. I was sent to speak to you, and to bring you this good news.

²⁸ Having come in, the angel said to her, "Greetings, favored one. The Lord is with you."

¹⁰ The angel said to them, "Do not be afraid, for see, I bring you good news of great joy which will be to all the people.

¹⁹ But an angel of the Lord opened the prison doors by night, and brought them out, and said,

³ At about three in the afternoon, he clearly saw in a vision an angel of God coming to him, and saying to him, "Cornelius." ⁴ He, fastening his eyes on him, and being frightened, said, "What is it, Lord?" He said to him, "Your prayers and your gifts to the needy have gone up for a memorial before God.

¹⁴ Are they not all ministering spirits, sent out to do service for the sake of those who will inherit salvation?

³ Another angel came and stood over the altar, having a golden censer. Much incense was given to him to offer up, with the prayers of all the saints, on the golden altar which was before the throne. ⁴ The smoke of the incense, with the prayers of the saints, went up before God out of the angel's hand.

¹³ The sixth angel sounded. I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar which is before God,

²² Gideon saw that he was the angel of the LORD; and Gideon said, "Alas, Lord GOD. Because I have seen the angel of the LORD face to face."

²² Manoah said to his wife, "We shall surely die, because we have seen God."

¹⁴ fear came on me, and trembling, which made all my bones shake. ¹⁵ Then a spirit passed before my face. The hair of my flesh stood up.

⁷ I, Daniel, alone saw the vision; for the men who were with me did not see the vision; but a great trembling fell on them, and they fled to hide themselves.

⁵ Entering into the tomb, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, dressed in a white robe, and they were amazed.

²⁹ But when she saw him, she was greatly troubled at the saying, and considered what kind of salutation this might be.

⁹ And look, an angel of the Lord stood by them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. ¹⁰ The angel said to them, "Do not be afraid, for see, I bring you good news of great joy which will be to all the people.

⁴ He, fastening his eyes on him, and being frightened, said, "What is it, Lord?" He said to him, "Your prayers and your gifts to the needy have gone up for a memorial before God.

¹⁷ When I saw him, I fell at his feet like a dead man. He laid his right hand on me, saying, "Do not be afraid. I am the first and the last,

¹⁰ This is my covenant, which you shall keep, between me and you and your descendants after you: Every male among you shall be circumcised.

¹⁹ And God said, "Truly, Sarah your wife will bear you a son, and you are to name him Isaac. And I will establish my covenant with him as an everlasting covenant and with his descendants after him.

¹⁴ Is anything too difficult for God? At the set time I will return to you, at the time of life, and Sarah will have a son."

²³ The LORD said to him, "Peace be to you. Do not be afraid. You shall not die."

³ The angel of the LORD appeared to the woman, and said to her, "See now, you are barren, and do not bear; but you shall conceive, and bear a son. ⁴ Now therefore please be careful and drink no wine nor strong drink, and do not eat any unclean thing. ⁵ For look, you shall conceive, and bear a son; and no razor will come on his head; for the child shall be a Nazirite to God from the womb. And he shall begin to save Israel out of the hand of the Philistines."

²⁰ It happened, when the time had come, that Hannah conceived, and bore a son; and she named him Samuel, saying, "Because I have asked him of the LORD." ²¹ The man Elkanah, and all his house, went up to offer to the LORD the yearly sacrifice, and to redeem his vow and all the tithes of his land. ²² But Hannah did not go up; for she said to her husband, "Not until the child is weaned; then I will bring him, that he may appear before the LORD, and stay there forever." ²³ And Elkanah her husband said to her, "Do what seems good in your eyes. Wait until you have weaned him; only may the LORD establish what you have said." So the woman waited and nursed her son, until she weaned him.

²¹ The LORD visited Hannah, and she bore more children, three sons and two daughters. The child Samuel grew before the LORD.

¹⁶ He said, "At this season, when the time comes around, you will embrace a son." She said, "No, my lord, you man of God, do not lie to your handmaid." ¹⁷ The woman conceived, and bore a son at that season, when the time came around, as Elisha had said to her.

⁹ He settles the barren woman in her home, as a joyful mother of children. Praise the LORD.

²¹ I will give thanks to you, for you have answered me, and have become my salvation.

³ Look, children are a heritage of the LORD. The fruit of the womb is a reward. ⁴ As arrows in the hand of a mighty man, so are the children of youth. ⁵ Blessed is the man who has his quiver full of them. They won't be disappointed when they speak with their enemies in the gate.

³ I went to the prophetess, and she conceived, and bore a son. Then said the LORD to me, "Call his name 'Maher Shalal Hash Baz.'

¹² Then he said to me, "Do not be afraid, Daniel; for from the first day that you did set your heart to understand, and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard. And I have come because of your words.

⁴ The LORD said to him, "Call his name 'Jezreel,' for yet a little while, and I will avenge the blood of Jezreel on the house of Jehu, and will cause the kingdom of the house of Israel to cease.

⁶ She conceived again, and bore a daughter. Then he said to him, "Call her name 'No Compassion,' for I will no longer have compassion on the house of Israel, that I should in any way pardon them.

⁹ He said, "Call his name 'Not My People,' for you are x91Not my Peopleʼ and I am 'Not your I AM.' ¹⁰ Yet the number of the children of Israel will be as the sand of the sea, which can't be measured nor numbered; and it will come to pass that, in the place where it was said to them, "You are 'Not My People,'" they will be called "Children of the Living God."

²¹ And she will bring forth a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins."

²⁷ But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying "Cheer up. It is I. Do not be afraid."

⁵ The angel answered the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus, who has been crucified.

⁶ He said to them, "Do not be amazed. You seek Jesus, the Nazarene, who has been crucified. He has risen. He is not here. Look, the place where they put him.

³⁰ The angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.

⁶⁰ His mother answered, "Not so; but he will be called John." ⁶¹ They said to her, "There is no one among your relatives who is called by this name." ⁶² They made signs to his father, what he would have him called. ⁶³ And he asked for a writing tablet, and wrote, "His name is John." And they were all amazed.

²¹ When eight days were fulfilled to circumcise him, his name was called Jesus, which was given by the angel before he was conceived in the womb.

³⁶ As they said these things, Jesus himself stood among them, and said to them, "Peace be to you." ³⁷ But they were terrified and filled with fear, and supposed that they had seen a spirit. ³⁸ He said to them, "Why are you troubled? Why do doubts arise in your hearts? ³⁹ See my hands and my feet, that it is truly me. Touch me and see, for a spirit does not have flesh and bones, as you see that I have." ⁴⁰ When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his feet.

³¹ and said, 'Cornelius, your prayer is heard, and your gifts to the needy are remembered in the sight of God.

⁶ Sarah said, "God has made me laugh. Everyone who hears will laugh with me."

²⁰ A wise son makes a father glad, but a foolish man despises his mother.

¹⁵ My son, if your heart is wise, then my heart will be glad, even mine:

²⁴ The father of the righteous has great joy. Whoever fathers a wise child delights in him.

⁵⁸ Her neighbors and her relatives heard that the Lord had magnified his mercy towards her, and they rejoiced with her.

² And I will make of you a great nation. And I will bless you and make your name great. And you will be a blessing.

¹⁹ But his father refused, and said, "I know, my son, I know. He also will become a people, and he also will be great. However, his younger brother will be greater than he, and his descendants will become a multitude of nations."

² "Speak to the children of Israel, and tell them: When either man or woman shall make a special vow, the vow of a Nazirite, to separate himself to the LORD, ³ he shall separate himself from wine and strong drink. He shall drink no vinegar of wine, or vinegar of fermented drink, neither shall he drink any juice of grapes, nor eat fresh grapes or dried. ⁴ All the days of his separation he shall eat nothing that is made of the grapevine, from the seeds even to the skins.

⁷ The LORD said to Joshua, "Today I will begin to magnify you in the sight of all Israel, that they may know that as I was with Moses, so I will be with you.

¹⁴ On that day, the LORD magnified Joshua in the sight of all Israel; and they feared him, as they feared Moses, all the days of his life.

⁴ Now therefore please be careful and drink no wine nor strong drink, and do not eat any unclean thing. ⁵ For look, you shall conceive, and bear a son; and no razor will come on his head; for the child shall be a Nazirite to God from the womb. And he shall begin to save Israel out of the hand of the Philistines." ⁶ Then the woman came and told her husband, saying, "A man of God came to me, and his face was like the face of the angel of God, very awesome; and I didn't ask him where he was from, neither did he tell me his name,

⁸ I have been with you wherever you have gone, and have cut off all your enemies from before you. I will make you a name, like the name of the great ones who are in the earth.

¹² Both riches and honor come from you, and you rule over all; and in your hand is power and might; and it is in your hand to make great, and to give strength to all.

⁹ But you brought me out of the womb. You made me trust at my mother's breasts.

⁵ "Before I formed you in the belly, I knew you. Before you came forth out of the womb, I sanctified you. I have appointed you a prophet to the nations."

¹⁵ The LORD of hosts will defend them; and they will destroy and overcome with sling stones; and they will drink, and roar as through wine; and they will be filled like bowls, like the corners of the altar.

⁹ But what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and much more than a prophet. ¹⁰ This is the one of whom it is written, 'Look, I send my messenger ahead of you, who will prepare your way before you.' ¹¹ Truly I tell you, among those who are born of women there has not arisen anyone greater than John the Baptist; yet he who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. ¹² And from the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force. ¹³ For all the Prophets and the Law prophesied until John. ¹⁴ And if you are willing to receive it, this is Elijah, who is to come. ¹⁵ He who has ears to hear, let him hear. ¹⁶ "But to what should I compare this generation? It is like children sitting in the marketplaces, who call to their companions ¹⁷ and say, 'We played the flute for you, and you did not dance. We wailed in mourning, and you did not mourn.' ¹⁸ For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, 'He has a demon.' ¹⁹ The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, 'Look, a gluttonous man and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners.' But wisdom is justified by her children."

²⁸ "I tell you, among those who are born of women there is none greater than John, yet he who is least in the Kingdom of God is greater than he."

³³ For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine, and you say, 'He has a demon.'

³⁵ He was the burning and shining lamp, and you were willing to rejoice for a while in his light.

⁴ They were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them the ability to speak.

¹⁴ But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and spoke out to them, "You men of Judea, and all you who live in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and listen to my words. ¹⁵ For these are not drunk, as you suppose, seeing it is only nine in the morning. ¹⁶ But this is what has been spoken through the prophet Joel: ¹⁷ 'And it will be in the last days, says God, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh; and your sons and your daughters will prophesy, and your young men will see visions, and your old men will dream dreams. ¹⁸ And even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy.

¹⁵ But when God, who had set me apart from my mother's womb and called me through his grace, was pleased

¹⁸ Do not get drunk with wine, which is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit,

³ The voice of one who calls out in the wilderness, "Prepare the way of the LORD. Make his roads straight. ⁴ Every valley will be filled, and every mountain and hill will be made low, and the uneven will be made level, and the rough places a plain. ⁵ And the glory of the LORD will be revealed, and all humanity will see the salvation of God together; for the mouth of the LORD has spoken."

⁶ And he says, "It is too light a thing that you should be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved of Israel; I will also give you as a light to the nations, that you may bring salvation to the farthest part of the earth."

³ And those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who turn many to righteousness like the stars forever and ever.

¹ "Look, I send my messenger, and he will prepare the way before me; and the Lord, whom you seek, will suddenly come to his temple; and the messenger of the covenant, whom you desire, look, he comes." says the LORD of hosts.

¹ And in those days John the Baptist came, preaching in the wilderness of Judea ² and saying, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near." ³ For this is he who was spoken of by Isaiah the prophet, saying, "The voice of one who calls out in the wilderness, 'Prepare the way of the Lord. Make his roads straight.'" ⁴ Now John himself wore clothing made of camel's hair and with a leather belt around his waist, and his food was locusts and wild honey. ⁵ Then people from Jerusalem, all of Judea, and all the region around the Jordan went out to him, ⁶ and they were baptized by him in the Jordan river, confessing their sins.

³² For John came to you in the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him, but the tax collectors and the prostitutes believed him. When you saw it, you did not even repent afterward, that you might believe him.

⁷⁶ And you, child, will be called a prophet of the Most High, for you will go before the Lord to make ready his ways,

⁵ Samuel said, "Gather all Israel to Mizpah, and I will pray for you to the LORD."

¹ And Elijah the Tishbite, of the inhabitants of Gilead, said to Ahab, "As the LORD, the God of Israel, lives, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, except by my word."

¹⁸ He answered, "I have not troubled Israel; but you, and your father's house, in that you have forsaken the commandments of the LORD, and you have followed the Baals.

²⁰ And Ahab said to Elijah, "Have you found me, my enemy?" And he answered, "I have found you, because you have sold yourself to do that which is evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger.

⁴ Now therefore thus says the LORD, "You shall not come down from the bed where you have gone up, but shall surely die."'" Elijah departed. ⁵ The messengers returned to him, and he said to them, "Why is it that you have returned?" ⁶ They said to him, "A man came up to meet us, and said to us, 'Go, return to the king who sent you, and tell him, "Thus says the LORD, 'Is it because there is no God in Israel, that you send to inquire of Baal Zebub, the god of Ekron? Therefore you shall not come down from the bed where you have gone up, but shall surely die.'"'"

¹⁶ He said to him, "Thus says the LORD, 'Because you have sent messengers to inquire of Baal Zebub, the god of Ekron, is it because there is no God in Israel to inquire of his word? Therefore you shall not come down from the bed where you have gone up, but shall surely die.'"

¹⁸ The LORD, the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Israel, our fathers, keep this forever in the imagination of the thoughts of the heart of your people, and prepare their heart for you;

³⁶ Hezekiah rejoiced, and all the people, because of that which God had prepared for the people: for the thing was done suddenly.

¹⁷ LORD, you have heard the desire of the humble. You will prepare their heart. You will cause your ear to hear,

⁸ and might not be as their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation, a generation that did not make their hearts loyal, whose spirit was not steadfast with God.

¹⁰ The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom. All those who do his work have a good understanding. His praise endures forever.

²⁴ They also who err in spirit will come to understanding, and those who grumble will receive instruction."

¹² "Therefore thus will I do to you, Israel; because I will do this to you, prepare to meet your God, Israel.

⁵ Look, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the great and awesome day of the LORD comes. ⁶ He will turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers, lest I come and strike the earth with a curse.

⁴ Now John himself wore clothing made of camel's hair and with a leather belt around his waist, and his food was locusts and wild honey.

⁷ But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming for his baptism he said to them, "You offspring of vipers, who warned you to flee from the wrath to come? ⁸ Therefore bring forth fruit worthy of repentance, ⁹ and do not think to yourselves, 'We have Abraham for our father,' for I tell you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham from these stones. ¹⁰ "Even now the axe lies at the root of the trees. Therefore, every tree that does not bring forth good fruit is cut down, and cast into the fire. ¹¹ I indeed baptize you in water for repentance, but the one who comes after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you in the Holy Spirit and with fire. ¹² His winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will thoroughly cleanse his threshing floor. He will gather his wheat into the barn, but the chaff he will burn up with unquenchable fire."

¹⁴ And if you are willing to receive it, this is Elijah, who is to come.

⁴ For John said to him, "It is not lawful for you to have her."

¹¹ And he answered and said, "Elijah indeed comes, and will restore all things, ¹² but I tell you that Elijah has come already, and they did not recognize him, but did to him whatever they wanted to. Even so the Son of Man will also suffer by them."

²⁹ He answered, 'I will not,' but afterward he changed his mind, and went. ³⁰ And he came to the other, and said the same thing. And he answered and said, 'I go, sir,' but he did not go. ³¹ Which of the two did the will of his father?" They said, "The first." Jesus said to them, "Truly I tell you that the tax collectors and the prostitutes are entering into the Kingdom of God before you. ³² For John came to you in the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him, but the tax collectors and the prostitutes believed him. When you saw it, you did not even repent afterward, that you might believe him.

¹¹ They asked him, saying, "Why do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?" ¹² And he said to them, "Elijah indeed comes first, and restores all things. And why is it written of the Son of Man that he should suffer many things and be rejected? ¹³ But I tell you that Elijah has come, and they have also done to him whatever they wanted to, even as it is written about him."

¹⁶ He will turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord, their God.

⁷ He said therefore to the crowds who went out to be baptized by him, "You offspring of vipers, who warned you to flee from the wrath to come? ⁸ Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance, and do not begin to say among yourselves, 'We have Abraham for our father;' for I tell you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham from these stones. ⁹ Even now the axe also lies at the root of the trees. Every tree therefore that does not bring forth good fruit is cut down, and thrown into the fire." ¹⁰ The crowds asked him, "What then must we do?" ¹¹ He answered them, "He who has two coats, let him give to him who has none. He who has food, let him do likewise." ¹² Tax collectors also came to be baptized, and they said to him, "Teacher, what must we do?" ¹³ He said to them, "Collect no more than that which is appointed to you." ¹⁴ Soldiers also asked him, saying, "What about us? What must we do?" He said to them, "Extort from no one by violence, neither accuse anyone wrongfully. Be content with your wages."

¹³ who were born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

²¹ And they asked him, "What then? Are you Elijah?" And he said, "I am not." "Are you the Prophet?" And he answered, "No." ²² They said therefore to him, "Who are you? Give us an answer to take back to those who sent us. What do you say about yourself?" ²³ He said, "I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, 'Make straight the way of the Lord,' as Isaiah the prophet said." ²⁴ (Now they had been sent from the Pharisees.) ²⁵ And they asked him, "Why then do you baptize, if you are not the Christ, nor Elijah, nor the Prophet?" ²⁶ John answered them, saying, "I baptize in water, but among you stands one whom you do not know. ²⁷ He is the one who comes after me, whose sandal strap I'm not worthy to loosen." ²⁸ These things were done in Bethany across the Jordan, where John was baptizing. ²⁹ The next day, he saw Jesus coming to him, and said, "Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world. ³⁰ This is he of whom I said, 'After me comes a man who ranks ahead of me, because he existed before me.'

³⁴ And I have seen and have testified that this is the Chosen One of God."

²⁸ You yourselves bear me witness that I said, 'I am not the Christ,' but, 'I have been sent before him.'

³³ Therefore I sent to you at once, and it was good of you to come. Now therefore we are all here present in the sight of God to hear all things that have been commanded you by the Lord."

²³ and that he might make known the riches of his glory on vessels of mercy, which he prepared beforehand for glory,

⁹ Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor men who have sexual relations with men, ¹⁰ nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor slanderers, nor swindlers, will inherit the Kingdom of God. ¹¹ Such were some of you, but you were washed. But you were sanctified. But you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, and in the Spirit of our God.

¹² giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the light;

²¹ If anyone therefore purges himself from these, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified, and suitable for the master's use, prepared for every good work.

⁹ But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellence of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light:

¹¹ Therefore since all these things will be destroyed like this, what kind of people ought you to be in holy living and godliness, ¹² looking for and earnestly desiring the coming of the day of God, which will cause the burning heavens to be dissolved, and the elements will melt with fervent heat? ¹³ But, according to his promise, we look for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells. ¹⁴ Therefore, beloved, seeing that you look for these things, be diligent to be found in peace, without blemish and blameless in his sight.

²⁸ Now, little children, remain in him, that when he appears, we may have boldness, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.

⁴ I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was given to them. I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for the testimony of Jesus, and for the word of God, and such as did not worship the beast nor his image, and did not receive the mark on their forehead and on their hand. They lived, and reigned with Christ for a thousand years.

⁸ But he said, "Lord, how can I know that I will possess it?"

¹² Sarah laughed within herself, saying, "After I have grown old will I have pleasure, my husband being old also?"

²¹ Moses said, "The people, among whom I am, are six hundred thousand men on foot; and you have said, 'I will give them flesh, that they may eat a whole month.' ²² Shall flocks and herds be slaughtered for them, to be sufficient for them? Shall all the fish of the sea be gathered together for them, to be sufficient for them?" ²³ The LORD said to Moses, "Has the LORD's hand grown short? Now you will see whether my word will happen to you or not."

³⁶ Gideon said to God, "If you will save Israel by my hand, as you have spoken, ³⁷ look, I will put a fleece of wool on the threshing floor; if there is dew on the fleece only, and it is dry on all the ground, then shall I know that you will save Israel by my hand, as you have spoken." ³⁸ It was so; for he rose up early on the next day, and pressed the fleece together, and wrung the dew out of the fleece, a bowl full of water. ³⁹ Gideon said to God, "Do not let your anger be kindled against me, and I will speak but this once. Please let me make one more test with the fleece; let it now be dry only on the fleece, and on all the ground let there be dew." ⁴⁰ God did so that night, for it was dry on the fleece only, and there was dew all over the ground.

² Then the captain on whose hand the king leaned answered the man of God, and said, "Look, if the LORD made windows in heaven, could this thing be?" He said, "Look, you shall see it with your eyes, but shall not eat of it."

²² Hezekiah also had said, "What is the sign that I will go up to the house of the LORD?"

⁷ But they had no child, because Elizabeth was barren, and they both were well advanced in years.

³⁴ Mary said to the angel, "How can this be, seeing I am a virgin?"

¹⁶ I heard a man's voice between the banks of the Ulai, and called out and said, "Gabriel, make this man understand the vision."

²¹ while I was speaking in prayer, the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning, came to me in my weariness about the time of the evening sacrifice. ²² He instructed me, and talked with me, and said, "Daniel, I have now come forth to give you wisdom and understanding. ²³ At the beginning of your petitions the commandment went forth, and I have come to tell you, for you are greatly loved. Therefore consider the matter, and understand the vision.

¹⁰ See that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I tell you that in heaven their angels always see the face of my Father who is in heaven.

²⁶ Now in the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee, named Nazareth,

¹⁰ Then he said, "I will certainly return to you at the time of life. Look, Sarah your wife will have a son." Sarah heard from the entrance of the tent, which was behind him. ¹¹ Now Abraham and Sarah were old, well advanced in age. Sarah was past the age of childbearing. ¹² Sarah laughed within herself, saying, "After I have grown old will I have pleasure, my husband being old also?" ¹³ The LORD said to Abraham, "Why did Sarah laugh, saying, 'Will I really bear a child when I am old?' ¹⁴ Is anything too difficult for God? At the set time I will return to you, at the time of life, and Sarah will have a son." ¹⁵ But Sarah denied it, saying, "I did not laugh," for she was afraid. He said, "No, but you did laugh."

¹¹ The LORD said to him, "Who made manʼs mouth? Or who makes the mute, the deaf, the seeing, or the blind? Is it not I, God?

¹² The LORD said to Moses and Aaron, "Because you did not believe in me, to sanctify me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore you shall not bring this assembly into the land which I have given them."

¹⁹ and that captain answered the man of God, and said, "Now, look, if the LORD should make windows in heaven, might such a thing be?" and he said, "Look, you shall see it with your eyes, but shall not eat of it."

⁹ and the head of Ephraim is Samaria, and the head of Samaria is Remaliah's son. If you will not believe, surely you shall not be established.'"

²⁶ and I will make your tongue stick to the roof of your mouth, that you shall be mute, and shall not be to them a reprover; for they are a rebellious house.

²⁷ In that day your mouth will be opened to him who has escaped, and you shall speak, and be no more mute: so you will be a sign to them; and they shall know that I am the LORD."

¹⁹ And answering, he said to them, "You unbelieving generation, how long must I be with you? How long must I put up with you? Bring him to me."

¹⁴ Afterward he was revealed to the eleven themselves as they were reclining, and he rebuked them for their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they did not believe those who had seen him after he had risen.

²² When he came out, he could not speak to them, and they perceived that he had seen a vision in the temple. He continued making signs to them, and remained mute.

⁴⁵ Blessed is she who believed, for there will be a fulfillment of the things which have been spoken to her from the Lord."

³ For what if some were without faith? Will their lack of faith nullify the faithfulness of God?

¹³ If we are faithless, he remains faithful, for he cannot deny himself."

² in hope of everlasting life, which God, who cannot lie, promised before time began;

¹⁸ that by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we may have a strong encouragement, who have fled for refuge to take hold of the hope set before us.

¹⁹ As many as I love, I rebuke and discipline. Be zealous therefore, and repent.

²³ "Speak to Aaron and to his sons, saying, 'This is how you shall bless the children of Israel.' You shall tell them, ²⁴ 'The LORD bless you, and keep you. ²⁵ The LORD make his face to shine on you, and be gracious to you. ²⁶ The LORD lift up his face toward you, and give you peace.' ²⁷ "So they shall put my name on the children of Israel; and I will bless them."

⁶² They made signs to his father, what he would have him called.

²⁴ Simon Peter therefore motioned to him to inquire who it was he was talking about.

¹⁷ But he, beckoning to them with his hand to be silent, declared to them how the Lord had brought him out of the prison. He said, "Tell these things to James, and to the brothers." Then he departed, and went to another place.

³³ They brought Alexander out of the crowd, the Jews putting him forward. Alexander beckoned with his hand, and would have made a defense to the people.

⁴⁰ When he had given him permission, Paul, standing on the stairs, beckoned with his hand to the people. When there was a great silence, he spoke to them in the Hebrew language, saying,

⁵ He commanded them, saying, "This is the thing that you shall do: a third part of you, who come in on the Sabbath, shall be keepers of the watch of the king's house; ⁶ A third part shall be at the gate Sur; and a third part at the gate behind the guard. So you shall keep the watch of the house, and be a barrier. ⁷ The two companies of you, even all who go out on the Sabbath, shall keep the watch of the house of the LORD around the king.

²⁵ Their brothers, in their villages, were to come in every seven days from time to time to be with them:

¹ Now God visited Sarah as he had said, and did to Sarah as he had spoken. ² Sarah conceived, and bore Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him.

²² God remembered Rachel, and God listened to her, and made her fertile. ²³ She conceived, bore a son, and said, "God has taken away my shame."

⁶ Her rival taunted her severely, to irritate her, because the LORD had shut up her womb.

¹⁹ They rose up in the morning early, and worshiped before the LORD, and returned, and came to their house to Ramah: and Elkanah knew Hannah his wife; and the LORD remembered her. ²⁰ It happened, when the time had come, that Hannah conceived, and bore a son; and she named him Samuel, saying, "Because I have asked him of the LORD."

²¹ The LORD visited Hannah, and she bore more children, three sons and two daughters. The child Samuel grew before the LORD. ²² Now Eli was very old; and he heard what his sons did to the children of Israel (and how that they lay with the women who served at the door of the Tent of Meeting).

¹ Seven women shall take hold of one man in that day, saying, "We will eat our own bread, and wear our own clothing: only let us be called by your name. Take away our reproach."

¹ "Sing, barren, you who did not bear; break forth into singing, and cry aloud, you who did not travail with child: for more are the children of the desolate than of her that has a husband," says the LORD. ² "Enlarge the place of your tent, and let them stretch forth the curtains of your habitations; do not spare: lengthen your cords, and strengthen your stakes. ³ For you shall spread out on the right hand and on the left; and your descendants shall possess the nations, and make the desolate cities to be inhabited. ⁴ "Do not be afraid, for you will not be put to shame, nor will you be humiliated, for you will not be disgraced. For you will forget the shame of your youth, and the disgrace of your widowhood you will remember no more.

¹³ But the angel said to him, "Do not be afraid, Zechariah, because your request has been heard, and your wife, Elizabeth, will bear you a son, and you are to name him John.

²³ and came and lived in a city called Nazareth; that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through the prophets, that he will be called a Nazorean.

⁴ Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David;

⁴⁵ Philip found Nathanael, and said to him, "We have found him of whom Moses in the Law and the Prophets wrote: Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph." ⁴⁶ And Nathanael said to him, "Can any good thing come out of Nazareth?" Philip said to him, "Come and see."

⁴¹ Others said, "This is the Christ." But some said, "What, does the Christ come out of Galilee?

¹⁵ I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring. He will bruise your head, and you will bruise his heel."

¹⁴ Therefore the LORD himself will give you a sign. Look, the virgin will conceive, and bear a son, and they will call his name Immanuel.

²² How long will you go here and there, you backsliding daughter? For the LORD has created a new thing in the earth: a woman shall encompass a man."

¹⁶ and Jacob the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary, from whom was born Jesus, who is called the Christ.

¹⁸ Now the birth of Jesus Christ happened like this. His mother Mary had been engaged to Joseph, and before they came together, she was found to be with child from the Holy Spirit.

²⁰ But when he thought about these things, look, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, "Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to yourself Mary, your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. ²¹ And she will bring forth a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins."

²³ "Look, the virgin will conceive and bear a son, and they will call his name Immanuel;" which is translated, "God with us."

⁴ Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David; ⁵ to enroll himself with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him, being pregnant.

²⁴ Jael shall be blessed above women, the wife of Heber the Kenite; blessed shall she be above women in the tent.

¹² The angel of the LORD appeared to him, and said to him, "The LORD is with you, mighty warrior."

²⁹ "Many women do noble things, but you excel them all." ³⁰ Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain; but a woman who fears the LORD, she shall be praised. ³¹ Give her of the fruit of her hands. Let her works praise her in the gates.

⁵ Do not be afraid; for I am with you. I will bring your descendants from the east, and gather you from the west.

¹⁸ For, look, I have made you this day a fortified city, and an iron pillar, and bronze walls, against the whole land, against the kings of Judah, against its princes, against its priests, and against the people of the land. ¹⁹ They will fight against you; but they will not prevail against you; for I am with you," says the LORD, "to deliver you."

¹⁹ And he said, "Greatly loved man, do not be afraid, peace be to you; be strong, be strong." When he spoke to me, I was strengthened, and said, "Let my lord speak, for you have strengthened me."

² Take words with you, and return to the LORD. Tell him, "Forgive all our sins, and accept that which is good, and we will offer the fruit of our lips.

⁴⁸ But he answered him who spoke to him, "Who is my mother? Who are my brothers?"

⁴² She called out with a loud voice, and said, "Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb.

²⁷ It came to pass, as he said these things, a certain woman out of the crowd lifted up her voice, and said to him, "Blessed is the womb that bore you, and the breasts which nursed you." ²⁸ But he said, "On the contrary, blessed are those who hear the word of God, and keep it."

¹⁰ for I am with you, and no one will attack you to harm you, for I have many people in this city."

⁶ to the praise of the glory of his grace, which he freely bestowed on us in the Beloved One,

¹³ Gideon said to him, "Oh, my lord, if the LORD is with us, why then has all this happened to us? Where are all his wondrous works which our fathers told us of, saying, 'Didn't the LORD bring us up from Egypt?' But now the LORD has cast us off, and delivered us into the hand of Midian." ¹⁴ The LORD looked at him, and said, "Go in this strength of yours and save Israel from the hand of Midian. Look, haven't I sent you?" ¹⁵ He said to him, "O Lord, how shall I save Israel? Look, my family is the poorest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father's house."

²⁰ As for your donkeys who were lost three days ago, do not set your mind on them; for they have been found. And for whom does all Israel desire? Is it not for you, and for all your father's house?" ²¹ Saul answered, "Am I not a Benjamite, of the smallest of the tribes of Israel? And my family the least of all the families of the tribe of Benjamin? Why then do you speak to me like this?"

⁴⁹ but they, when they saw him walking on the sea, supposed that it was a ghost, and began to scream; ⁵⁰ for they all saw him, and were troubled. But he immediately spoke with them, and said to them, "Cheer up. It is I. Do not be afraid."

⁵ Entering into the tomb, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, dressed in a white robe, and they were amazed. ⁶ He said to them, "Do not be amazed. You seek Jesus, the Nazarene, who has been crucified. He has risen. He is not here. Look, the place where they put him.

¹² Zechariah was troubled when he saw him, and fear fell upon him.

⁶⁶ All who heard them laid them up in their heart, saying, "What then will this child be?" The hand of the Lord was with him.

¹⁹ But Mary kept all these sayings, pondering them in her heart.

⁵¹ And he went down with them, and came to Nazareth. He was subject to them, and his mother kept all these sayings in her heart.

¹⁷ Now while Peter was very perplexed within himself what the vision which he had seen might mean, look, the men who were sent by Cornelius, having made inquiry for Simon's house, stood before the gate,

¹⁰ Do not be afraid, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness.

¹⁴ Do not be afraid, you worm Jacob, and you men of Israel. I will help you," says the LORD, "and your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel.

¹ But now thus says the LORD who created you, Jacob, and he who formed you, Israel: "Do not be afraid, for I have redeemed you. I have called you by your name. You are mine. ² When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned, and the flame will not scorch you. ³ For I am the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior. I have given Egypt as your ransom, Ethiopia and Seba in your place. ⁴ Since you have been precious and honored in my sight, and I have loved you; therefore I will give people in your place, and nations instead of your life.

² This is what the LORD who made you, and formed you from the womb, who will help you says: "Do not be afraid, Jacob my servant; and you, Jeshurun, whom I have chosen.

³² Do not be afraid, little flock, for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the Kingdom.

⁹ The Lord said to Paul in the night by a vision, "Do not be afraid, but speak and do not be silent; ¹⁰ for I am with you, and no one will attack you to harm you, for I have many people in this city."

²⁴ saying, 'Do not be afraid, Paul. You must stand before Caesar. And look, God has granted you all those who sail with you.'

³¹ What then are we to say about these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?

⁶ So we can confidently say, "The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can humans do to me?"

²⁵ and had no marital relations with her until she had brought forth a son; and he named him Jesus.

²⁷ to a virgin pledged to be married to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin's name was Mary.

⁴ But when the fullness of the time came, God sent out his Son, born to a woman, born under the law,

¹¹ and from the time that I commanded judges to be over my people Israel. I will cause you to rest from all your enemies. Moreover the LORD tells you that he will build you a house. ¹² And it will come about when your days are fulfilled, and you sleep with your fathers, that I will raise up your descendant after you, who will come from your body, and I will establish his kingdom. ¹³ He will build a house for my name, and I will establish his throne forever.

¹⁶ And your house and your kingdom shall be made sure forever before me, and your throne shall be established forever."'"

¹¹ The LORD has sworn to David in truth. He will not turn from it: "I will set the fruit of your body on your throne.

⁶ For to us a child is born. To us a son is given; and the government will be on his shoulders, and his name is called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. ⁷ Of the increase of his government and of peace there shall be no end, on the throne of David, and on his kingdom, to establish it, and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from that time on, even forever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.

⁵ A throne will be established in loving kindness. One will sit on it in truth, in the tent of David, judging, seeking justice, and swift to do righteousness.

⁵ "Look, the days come," says the LORD, "that I will raise to David a righteous Branch, and he shall reign as king and deal wisely, and shall execute justice and righteousness in the land. ⁶ In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely; and this is his name by which he shall be called: 'The LORD our righteousness.'

¹⁵ In those days, and at that time, will I cause a Branch of righteousness to grow up to David; and he shall execute justice and righteousness in the land. ¹⁶ In those days shall Judah be saved, and Jerusalem shall dwell safely; and this is the name by which she shall be called: "The LORD our righteousness." ¹⁷ For thus says the LORD: "David shall never want a man to sit on the throne of the house of Israel;

²² "Thus says the Lord GOD: 'I will also take of the lofty top of the cedar, and will set it; I will crop off from the topmost of its young twigs a tender one, and I will plant it on a high and lofty mountain: ²³ in the mountain of the height of Israel will I plant it; and it shall bring forth boughs, and bear fruit, and be a goodly cedar: and under it shall dwell all birds of every wing; in the shade of its branches shall they dwell. ²⁴ All the trees of the field shall know that I, the LORD, have brought down the high tree, have exalted the low tree, have dried up the green tree, and have made the dry tree to flourish; I, the LORD, have spoken and have done it.'"

²³ I will set up one shepherd over them, and he shall feed them, even my servant David; he shall feed them, and he shall be their shepherd. ²⁴ I, the LORD, will be their God, and my servant David prince among them;" I, the LORD, have spoken it.

²⁴ "'"My servant David shall be king over them; and they all shall have one shepherd: they shall also walk in my ordinances, and observe my statutes, and do them. ²⁵ They shall dwell in the land that I have given to Jacob my servant, in which your fathers lived; and they shall dwell in it, they, and their children, and their children's children, forever: and David my servant shall be their prince for ever.

¹¹ On that day I will rebuild the tabernacle of David that has fallen, and repair its broken places, and I will rebuild its ruins, and I will restore it as in the days of old; ¹² that the rest of humanity may seek after the LORD, and all the nations who are called by my name," says the LORD who does this.

¹¹ I indeed baptize you in water for repentance, but the one who comes after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you in the Holy Spirit and with fire.

⁴² The queen of the south will rise up in the judgment with this generation, and will condemn it, for she came from a distant land to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and look, someone greater than Solomon is here.

¹⁸ Jesus came to them and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth.

⁷ and crying out with a loud voice, he said, "What have I to do with you, Jesus, you Son of the Most High God? I adjure you by God, do not torment me."

⁶¹ But he stayed quiet, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, "Are you the Christ, the Son of the Blessed One?"

¹⁵ For he will be great in the sight of the Lord, and he will drink no wine nor strong drink. He will be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother's womb.

³⁵ The angel answered her, "The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. Therefore also the holy one who is born will be called the Son of God.

¹⁶ John answered them all, "I indeed baptize you with water, but he comes who is mightier than I, the strap of whose sandals I am not worthy to loosen. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire,

³⁵ But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing back; and your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High; for he is kind toward the unthankful and evil.

³⁵ The Father loves the Son, and has given all things into his hand. ³⁶ Whoever believes in the Son has everlasting life, but whoever refuses to believe in the Son won't see life, but the wrath of God remains on him."

²¹ For as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son also gives life to whom he desires. ²² For the Father judges no one, but he has given all judgment to the Son, ²³ that all may honor the Son, even as they honor the Father. Whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent him. ²⁴ "Truly, truly, I tell you, he who hears my word, and believes him who sent me, has everlasting life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life. ²⁵ Truly, truly, I tell you, the hour comes, and now is, when the dead will hear the Son of God's voice; and those who hear will live. ²⁶ For as the Father has life in himself, even so he gave to the Son also to have life in himself. ²⁷ He also gave him authority to execute judgment, because he is the Son of Man. ²⁸ Do not be amazed at this, for the hour comes, in which all that are in the tombs will hear his voice, ²⁹ and will come out; those who have done good, to the resurrection of life; and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of judgment.

⁶⁹ We have come to believe and know that you are the Holy One of God."

³⁴ The crowd answered him, "We have heard out of the law that the Christ remains forever. Then how can you say, 'The Son of Man must be lifted up?' Who is this Son of Man?"

³⁰ Therefore, being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him that one of his descendants would sit on his throne,

³⁶ "Let all the house of Israel therefore know certainly that God has made him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom you crucified."

⁴⁸ However, the Most High does not dwell in temples made with hands, as the prophet says,

¹⁷ She followed Paul and us, shouting, "These men are servants of the Most High God, who proclaim to you the way of salvation."

⁴ who was declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the Spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead, Jesus Christ our Lord,

²⁰ which he worked in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and made him to sit at his right hand in the heavenly places, ²¹ far above all rule, and authority, and power, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age, but also in that which is to come. ²² He put all things under his feet, and gave him to be head over all things for the church, ²³ which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all.

⁹ Therefore God also highly exalted him, and gave to him the name which is above every name; ¹⁰ that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, those on earth, and those under the earth, ¹¹ and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

² in these last days has spoken to us by a Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, through whom also he made the ages. ³ He is the radiance of his glory, the very image of his substance, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had made purification for sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high; ⁴ having become so much better than the angels, as he has inherited a more excellent name than they have. ⁵ For to which of the angels did he say at any time, "You are my Son. Today I have become your Father"? And again, "I will be his Father, and he will be my Son"? ⁶ And again, when he brings in the firstborn into the world he says, "Let all the angels of God worship him." ⁷ Of the angels he says, "Who makes his angels winds, and his servants a flame of fire." ⁸ But of the Son he says, "Your throne, O God, is forever and ever, and the righteous scepter is the scepter of your Kingdom.

⁷ "To the angel of the church in Philadelphia write: "These are the words of the Holy One, the True One, he who has the key of David, he who opens and no one can shut, and who shuts and no one opens:

⁶ Your throne, God, is forever and ever. A scepter of equity is the scepter of your kingdom.

³⁵ Once have I sworn by my holiness, I will not lie to David. ³⁶ His descendants will endure forever, his throne like the sun before me. ³⁷ It will be established forever like the moon, the faithful witness in the sky." Selah.

⁴⁴ In the days of those kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed, nor shall its sovereignty be left to another people; but it shall break in pieces and consume all those kingdoms, and it shall stand forever.

¹³ I saw in the night visions, and look, there came with the clouds of the sky one like a son of man, and he came even to the Ancient of Days, and they brought him near before him. ¹⁴ There was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all the peoples, nations, and languages should serve him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.

¹⁸ But the holy ones of the Most High shall receive the kingdom, and possess the kingdom forever, forever and ever.

²⁷ The kingdom and the dominion, and the greatness of the kingdoms under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people of the holy ones of the Most High. His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey him.'

²¹ Those who have been saved will go up on Mount Zion to judge the mountains of Esau, and the kingdom will be the LORD's.

⁷ and I will make that which was lame a remnant, and that which was cast far off a strong nation: and the LORD will reign over them on Mount Zion from then on, even forever."

⁶ But it is not as though the word of God has come to nothing. For they are not all Israel, that are of Israel.

²⁴ Then the end comes, when he will deliver up the Kingdom to God, even the Father; when he will have abolished all rule and all authority and power. ²⁵ For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet.

²⁹ If you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's offspring and heirs according to promise.

¹⁶ As many as walk by this rule, peace and mercy be on them, and on God's Israel.

³ For we are the circumcision, who worship God in the Spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh;

⁸ But of the Son he says, "Your throne, O God, is forever and ever, and the righteous scepter is the scepter of your Kingdom.

¹⁵ The seventh angel sounded, and great voices in heaven followed, saying, "The kingdom of the world now belongs to our Lord and to his Christ, and he will reign forever and ever."

⁴ I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was given to them. I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for the testimony of Jesus, and for the word of God, and such as did not worship the beast nor his image, and did not receive the mark on their forehead and on their hand. They lived, and reigned with Christ for a thousand years. ⁵ The rest of the dead did not live until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. ⁶ Blessed and holy is he who has part in the first resurrection. Over these, the second death has no power, but they will be priests of God and of Christ, and will reign with him one thousand years.

³ There will be no curse any more. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and his servants serve him. ⁴ They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads. ⁵ There will no longer be any night, and they have no need for the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, because the Lord God will shine on them. And they will reign forever and ever.

⁸ Then Manoah pleaded with the LORD, and said, "Oh, Lord, please let the man of God whom you did send come again to us, and teach us what we shall do to the child who shall be born." ⁹ God listened to the voice of Manoah; and the angel of God came again to the woman as she sat in the field: but Manoah, her husband, wasn't with her. ¹⁰ The woman ran quickly, and told her husband, and said to him, "Look, the man who came to me the other day has appeared to me." ¹¹ Manoah arose, and went after his wife, and came to the man, and said to him, "Are you the man who spoke to the woman?" He said, "I am." ¹² Manoah said, "Now let your word happen. How shall the child be raised and what is he to do?"

⁶ But rise up, and enter into the city, and you will be told what you must do."

⁴ Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? Not one.

¹⁶ how much less one who is abominable and corrupt, a man who drinks iniquity like water.

⁴ How then can man be just with God? Or how can he who is born of a woman be clean?

⁷ I will tell of the decree. The LORD said to me, "You are my son. Today I have become your father.

⁵ Look, I was brought forth in iniquity. In sin my mother conceived me.

²⁰ But when he thought about these things, look, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, "Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to yourself Mary, your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit.

³ And the tempter came and said to him, "If you are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread."

³³ Those who were in the boat worshiped him, saying, "You are truly the Son of God."

⁶³ But Jesus held his peace. The high priest answered him, "I adjure you by the living God, that you tell us whether you are the Christ, the Son of God." ⁶⁴ Jesus said to him, "You have said it. Nevertheless, I tell you, after this you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of Power, and coming on the clouds of the sky."

⁵⁴ Now the centurion, and those who were with him watching Jesus, when they saw the earthquake, and the things that were done, feared exceedingly, saying, "Truly this was the Son of God."

²⁴ saying, "What do we have to do with you, Jesus, Nazarene? Have you come to destroy us? I know you who you are: the Holy One of God."

³¹ And look, you will conceive in your womb, and bring forth a son, and will call his name 'Jesus.' ³² He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father, David,

⁴⁹ Nathanael answered him, "Rabbi, you are the Son of God. You are King of Israel."

³⁶ As they went on the way, they came to some water, and the eunuch said, "Look, here is water. What is keeping me from being baptized?"

²⁰ I have been crucified with Christ, and it is no longer I that live, but Christ living in me. That life which I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself up for me.

³ among whom we also all once lived in the lust of our flesh, doing the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest.

¹⁵ For we do not have a high priest who cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities, but one who has been in all points tempted like we are, yet without sin.

²⁶ For such a high priest was indeed fitting for us: holy, guiltless, undefiled, separated from sinners, and made higher than the heavens; ²⁷ who does not need, like those high priests, to offer up sacrifices daily, first for his own sins, and then for those of the people. For he did this once for all, when he offered up himself. ²⁸ For the Law appoints men as high priests who have weakness, but the word of the oath which came after the Law appoints a Son forever who has been perfected.

²³ The LORD said to Moses, "Has the LORD's hand grown short? Now you will see whether my word will happen to you or not."

² What you know, I know also. I am not inferior to you.

¹⁷ 'Ah, Lord GOD. Look, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and by your outstretched arm; there is nothing too difficult for you,

²⁷ "Look, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there anything too difficult for me?

⁶ Thus says the LORD of hosts: "If it is marvelous in the eyes of the remnant of this people in those days, should it also be marvelous in my eyes?" says the LORD of hosts.

²⁶ Looking at them, Jesus said, "With humans this is impossible, but with God all things are possible."

²⁷ Jesus, looking at them, said, "With humans it is impossible, but not with God, for all things are possible with God."

²⁷ But he said, "The things which are impossible with man are possible with God."

²¹ who will transform our lowly body into the likeness of his glorious body, according to the power by which he is able even to subject all things to himself.

²⁵ Now, Lord GOD, the word that you have spoken concerning your servant, and concerning his house, confirm it forever, and do as you have spoken. ²⁶ Let your name be magnified forever, saying, 'The LORD of hosts is the God of Israel,' and the house of your servant David shall be established before you. ²⁷ For you have revealed to your servant, saying, 'I will build you a house.' Therefore your servant has found in his heart to pray this prayer to you. ²⁸ "Now, O Lord GOD, you are God, and your words are truth, and you have promised this good thing to your servant. ²⁹ Now therefore let it please you to bless the house of your servant, that it may continue forever before you; for you, Lord GOD, have spoken it. Let the house of your servant be blessed forever with your blessing."

¹⁶ LORD, truly I am your servant. I am your servant, the son of your handmaid. You have freed me from my chains.

³⁸ Fulfill your promise to your servant, that you may be feared.

²⁰ Yet, looking to the promise of God, he did not waver through unbelief, but grew strong through faith, giving glory to God, ²¹ and being fully assured that what he had promised, he was able also to perform.

⁴⁰ So Joshua struck all the land, the hill country, and the Negev, and the lowland, and the slopes, and all their kings. He left none remaining, but he utterly destroyed all that breathed, as the LORD, the God of Israel, commanded.

⁴⁸ In the hill country, Shamir, and Jattir, and Socoh, ⁴⁹ and Rannah, and Kiriath Sepher (which is Debir), ⁵⁰ and Anab, and Eshtemoh, and Anim, ⁵¹ and Goshen, and Holon, and Giloh; eleven cities with their villages. ⁵² Arab, and Rumah, and Eshan, ⁵³ and Janum, and Beth Tappuah, and Aphekah, ⁵⁴ and Humtah, and Kiriath Arba (that is, Hebron), and Zior; nine cities with their villages. ⁵⁵ Maon, Carmel, and Ziph, and Juttah, ⁵⁶ and Jezreel, and Jokdeam, and Zanoah, ⁵⁷ Kain, Gibeah, and Timnah; ten cities with their villages. ⁵⁸ Halhul, Beth Zur, and Gedor, ⁵⁹ and Maarath, and Beth Anoth, and Eltekon; six cities with their villages. Tekoa, and Ephrathah (that is, Bethlehem), and Peor, and Etam, and Kolan, and Tatem, and Shoresh, and Kerem, and Gallim, and Bether, and Manocho; eleven cities with their villages.

⁷ They set apart Kedesh in Galilee in the hill country of Naphtali, Shechem in the hill country of Ephraim, and Kiriath Arba (that is, Hebron) in the hill country of Judah.

⁹ They gave out of the tribe of the descendants of Judah, and out of the tribe of the descendants of Simeon, these cities which are mentioned by name: ¹⁰ and they were for the descendants of Aaron, of the families of the Kohathites, who were of the descendants of Levi; for theirs was the first lot. ¹¹ They gave them Kiriath Arba, named after the father of Anak (that is, Hebron), in the hill country of Judah, with its suburbs around it.

⁶⁵ Fear came on all who lived around them, and all these sayings were talked about throughout all the hill country of Judea.

²² The children struggled together within her. She said, "If all is well, why am I like this?" She went to inquire of God.

¹⁰ I was thrown on you from my mother's womb. You are my God since my mother bore me.

⁴⁴ For look, when the voice of your greeting came into my ears, the baby leaped in my womb for joy.

⁶⁷ His father, Zechariah, was filled with the Holy Spirit, and prophesied, saying,

¹ Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness

⁸ Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, "Rulers of the people, and elders,

³ Therefore select from among you, brothers, seven men of good report, full of the Spirit and of wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.

⁵⁵ But he, being full of the Holy Spirit, looked up steadfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God.

¹⁰ I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and I heard behind me a loud voice, like a trumpet

¹⁸ And through your offspring all the nations of the earth will be blessed, because you have obeyed my voice."

⁶ For you make him most blessed forever. You make him glad with joy in your presence.

² You are the most handsome of the sons of men. Grace has anointed your lips, therefore God has blessed you forever.

¹⁷ His name endures forever. His name continues as long as the sun. Men shall be blessed by him. All nations will call him blessed. ¹⁸ Praise be to the LORD, the God of Israel, who alone does marvelous deeds. ¹⁹ Blessed be his glorious name forever. Let the whole earth be filled with his glory. Amen and amen.

⁴⁸ for he has looked at the humble state of his servant girl. For look, from now on all generations will call me blessed.

³⁸ saying, "Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord. Peace in heaven, and glory in the highest."

²⁶ Therefore my heart was glad, and my tongue rejoiced, and moreover my flesh also will dwell in hope; ²⁷ because you will not abandon my soul in Sheol, neither will you allow your Holy One to see decay. ²⁸ You made known to me the paths of life. You will make me full of joy in your presence.'

⁵ of whom are the patriarchs, and from whom is the Christ, as concerning the flesh, who is over all, God, blessed forever. Amen.

² looking to Jesus, the founder and completer of the faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, disregarding its shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

¹⁰ Then she fell on her face, and bowed herself to the ground, and said to him, "Why have I found favor in your sight, that you should take knowledge of me, since I am a foreigner?"

⁴¹ She arose, and bowed herself with her face to the earth, and said, "Look, your handmaid is a servant to wash the feet of the servants of my lord."

¹ [A Psalm by David.] The LORD says to my Lord, "Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet."

¹⁴ But John would have hindered him, saying, "I need to be baptized by you, and you come to me?"

¹¹ For there is born to you, this day, in the city of David, a Savior, who is Christ, the Lord.

⁷ Therefore I did not even think myself worthy to come to you; but say the word, and my servant will be healed.

¹³ You call me, 'Teacher' and 'Lord.' You say so correctly, for so I am.

²⁸ Thomas answered and said to him, "My Lord and my God."

³ doing nothing through rivalry or through conceit, but in humility, each counting others better than himself;

⁸ More than that, I count all things to be a loss compared to the far greater value of knowing Christ Jesus, my Lord, for whom I suffered the loss of all things, and count them nothing but refuse, that I may gain Christ

²⁰ They rose early in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa: and as they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, "Listen to me, Judah, and you inhabitants of Jerusalem. Believe in the LORD your God, so you will be established. Believe his prophets, and you will prosper."

²⁰ And look, you will be silent and not able to speak, until the day that these things will happen, because you did not believe my words, which will be fulfilled in their proper time."

⁴⁰ Jesus said to her, "Did I not tell you that if you believed, you would see God's glory?"

²⁹ Jesus said to him, "Because you have seen me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen, and have believed."

¹ Hannah prayed, and said: "My heart exults in the LORD. My horn is exalted in my God. My mouth is enlarged over my enemies, because I rejoice in your salvation. ² Truly, there is no one as holy as the LORD. Truly, there is no one besides you, nor is there any rock like our God. ³ "Do not keep speaking proudly. Do not let arrogance come out of your mouth, for the LORD is a God of knowledge. By him actions are weighed. ⁴ "The bows of the mighty men are broken. Those who stumbled are armed with strength. ⁵ Those who were full have hired themselves out for bread. Those who were hungry are satisfied. Even the barren has borne seven, and she who has many children languishes. ⁶ "The LORD kills, and makes alive. He lifts up the needy from the dunghill, To make them sit with princes, and inherit the throne of glory. For the pillars of the earth are the LORD's. He has set the world on them. ⁹ He will guard the feet of his faithful ones, but the wicked will be put to silence in darkness. For no man will prevail by strength. ¹⁰ The LORD will shatter his adversaries. He will thunder against them in the sky. "The LORD will judge the farthest parts of the earth. He will give strength to his king, and exalt the horn of his anointed."

² My soul shall boast in the LORD. The humble shall hear of it, and be glad. ³ Oh magnify the LORD with me. Let us exalt his name together.

⁹ My soul shall be joyful in the LORD. It shall rejoice in his salvation.

¹ [By David.] Praise the LORD, my soul, and all that is within me, praise his holy name. ² Praise the LORD, my soul, and do not forget all his benefits;

¹⁵ Therefore glorify the LORD in the east, even the name of the LORD, the God of Israel, in the islands of the sea. ¹⁶ From the uttermost part of the earth have we heard songs. Glory to the righteous. But I said, "I pine away. I pine away. Woe is me." The treacherous have dealt treacherously. Yes, the treacherous have dealt very treacherously.

²⁵ In the LORD shall all the descendants of Israel be justified, and shall glory.

¹⁰ I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he has clothed me with the garments of salvation, he has covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decks himself with a garland, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.

¹⁷ For though the fig tree doesn't flourish, nor fruit be in the vines; the labor of the olive fails, the fields yield no food; the flocks are cut off from the fold, and there is no herd in the stalls: ¹⁸ yet I will rejoice in the LORD. I will be joyful in the God of my salvation.

¹¹ Not only so, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation.

³¹ so that, as it is written, "Let him who boasts, boast in the Lord."

¹⁴ Now thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and reveals through us the sweet aroma of his knowledge in every place.

⁴ Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, Rejoice.

⁸ whom not having seen you love; in whom, though now you do not see him, yet believing, you rejoice greatly with joy inexpressible and full of glory—

² Look, in the God of my salvation I will trust, and will not be afraid. For the LORD is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation." ³ Therefore with joy you will draw water out of the wells of salvation.

²¹ Declare and bring it forth. Yes, let them take counsel together. Who announced this from long ago, has told it from then? Was it not I, the LORD? And there is no other God besides me, a just God and a Savior; there is no one besides me. ²² Look to me, and be saved, every part of the earth; for I am God, and there is no other.

¹⁸ yet I will rejoice in the LORD. I will be joyful in the God of my salvation.

¹⁴ Sing, daughter of Zion. Shout, Israel. Be glad and rejoice with all your heart, daughter of Jerusalem. ¹⁵ The LORD has taken away your judgments. He has thrown out your enemy. The King of Israel, the LORD, is in the midst of you. You will not be afraid of evil any more. ¹⁶ In that day, it will be said to Jerusalem, "Do not be afraid, Zion. Do not let your hands be weak." ¹⁷ The LORD your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save. He will rejoice over you with joy. He will calm you in his love. He will rejoice over you with singing.

⁹ Rejoice greatly, daughter of Zion. Shout, daughter of Jerusalem. Look, your king comes to you. He is righteous, and having salvation; lowly, and riding on a donkey, even on a colt, the foal of a donkey.

¹ Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus according to the commandment of God our Savior, and Christ Jesus our hope;

³ For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior;

³ but in his own time revealed his word in the message with which I was entrusted according to the commandment of God our Savior;

¹⁰ not stealing, but showing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God, our Savior, in all things.

¹³ looking for the blessed hope and appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ;

⁴ But when the kindness of God our Savior and his love toward humankind appeared, ⁵ not by works of righteousness, which we did ourselves, but according to his mercy, he saved us, through the washing of rebirth and renewing by the Holy Spirit, ⁶ whom he poured out on us richly, through Jesus Christ our Savior;

²⁵ to the only God our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and forever. Amen.

¹³ Leah said, "Happy am I, for the daughters will call me happy." So she named him Asher.

¹¹ She vowed a vow, and said, "LORD of hosts, if you will indeed look on the affliction of your handmaid, and remember me, and not forget your handmaid, but will give to your handmaid a son, then I will set him before you as a Nazirite until the day of his death. And he will not drink wine or strong drink, and no razor will come on his head."

⁸ He raises up the poor out of the dust. He lifts up the needy from the dunghill, To make them sit with princes, and inherit the throne of glory. For the pillars of the earth are the LORD's. He has set the world on them.

⁸ Now therefore you shall tell my servant David this, 'Thus says the LORD of hosts, "I took you from the sheep pen, from following the sheep, that you should be prince over my people Israel.

¹⁸ Then king David went in and sat before the LORD and said, "Who am I, Lord GOD, and what is my house, that you have brought me thus far? ¹⁹ This was a small thing in your eyes, Lord GOD, and you have spoken of your servantʼs house for a great while to come, and you have let me look upon the generation of humankind to come, Lord GOD.

¹⁷ He has responded to the prayer of the destitute, and has not despised their prayer.

⁷ He raises up the poor out of the dust. Lifts up the needy from the ash heap; ⁸ that he may set him with princes, even with the princes of his people.

²³ Who remembered us in our low estate; for his loving kindness endures forever;

⁶ For though the LORD is high, yet he looks after the lowly; but the proud, he knows from afar.

² For all these things has my hand made, and so all these things came to be," says the LORD: "but to this man will I look, to him who is humble and of a contrite spirit, and who trembles at my word.

¹² "All nations shall call you blessed, for you will be a delightful land," says the LORD of hosts.

²⁷ It came to pass, as he said these things, a certain woman out of the crowd lifted up her voice, and said to him, "Blessed is the womb that bore you, and the breasts which nursed you."

²⁶ For consider your calling, brothers, that not many were wise from a human perspective, not many mighty, not many of noble birth. ²⁷ But God chose the foolish of the world to shame the wise. And God chose the weak of the world to shame the strong. ²⁸ And God chose the lowly of the world, and the despised, what is considered to be nothing, to bring to nothing what is considered to be something,

⁵ Listen, my beloved brothers. Did not God choose those who are poor in this world to be rich in faith, and heirs of the Kingdom which he promised to those who love him? ⁶ But you have dishonored the poor person. Do not the rich oppress you, and personally drag you before the courts?

¹¹ Who is like you, LORD, among the gods? Who is like you, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders?

² Truly, there is no one as holy as the LORD. Truly, there is no one besides you, nor is there any rock like our God.

⁸ Who is the King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, The LORD mighty in battle.

¹⁹ Your righteousness also, God, reaches to the heavens; you have done great things. God, who is like you? ²⁰ You, who have shown us many and bitter troubles, you will let me live. You will bring us up again from the depths of the earth. ²¹ Increase my honor, and comfort me again.

³ Let them praise your great and awesome name. He is Holy.

⁹ Exalt the LORD, our God. Worship at his holy mountain, for the LORD, our God, is holy.

⁹ He has sent redemption to his people. He has ordained his covenant forever. His name is holy and awesome.

² Then our mouth was filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing. Then they said among the nations, "The LORD has done great things for them." ³ The LORD has done great things for us, and we are glad.

²⁴ Therefore the Lord, the LORD of hosts, the Mighty One of Israel, says: "Ah, I will get relief from my adversaries, and avenge myself of my enemies;

³ One called to another, and said, "Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts. The whole earth is full of his glory."

¹⁵ For thus says the high and lofty One who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: "I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also who is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite.

¹ Who is this who comes from Edom, with dyed garments from Bozrah? this who is glorious in his clothing, marching in the greatness of his strength? "It is I who speak in righteousness, mighty to save."

⁶ "There is none like you, LORD; you are great, and your name is great in might.

¹¹ But the LORD is with me as an awesome mighty one: therefore my persecutors shall stumble, and they shall not prevail; they shall be utterly disappointed, because they have not dealt wisely, even with an everlasting dishonor which shall never be forgotten.

¹³ And he gave them permission. The unclean spirits came out and entered into the pigs; and the herd of about two thousand rushed down the steep bank into the sea, and they were drowned in the sea.

²⁰ Now to him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,

⁸ The four living creatures, each one of them having six wings, are full of eyes around and within. They have no rest day and night, saying, "Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God of hosts, who was and who is and who is to come."

⁴ Who would not fear you, Lord, and glorify your name? For you only are holy. For all the nations will come and worship before you. For your righteous acts have been revealed."

⁷ I will establish my covenant between me and you and your descendants after you throughout their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and to your descendants after you.

⁶ and showing loving kindness to thousands of those who love me and keep my commandments.

⁶ The LORD passed by before him, and proclaimed, "The LORD, the LORD, a merciful and gracious God, slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness and truth, ⁷ keeping loving kindness for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin; and that will by no means clear [the guilty], visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, and upon the children's children, upon the third and upon the fourth [generation]."

¹⁹ Oh how great is your goodness, which you have stored up for those who fear you, which you have worked for those who take refuge in you, before the descendants of Adam.

⁹ Surely his salvation is near those who fear him, that glory may dwell in our land.

¹¹ For as the heavens are high above the earth, so great is his loving kindness toward those who fear him.

¹⁷ But the LORD's loving kindness is from everlasting to everlasting with those who fear him, his righteousness to children's children; ¹⁸ to those who keep his covenant, to those who remember to obey his precepts.

¹³ He will bless those who fear the LORD, both small and great.

⁴ Now let those who fear the LORD say that his loving kindness endures forever.

¹⁹ He will fulfill the desire of those who fear him. He also will hear their cry, and will save them.

¹¹ The LORD takes pleasure in those who fear him, in those who hope in his loving kindness.

¹⁶ Then those who feared the LORD spoke one with another; and the LORD listened, and heard, and a book of remembrance was written before him, for those who feared the LORD, and who honored his name. ¹⁷ They shall be mine," says the LORD of hosts, "my own possession in the day that I make, and I will spare them, as a man spares his own son who serves him. ¹⁸ Then you shall return and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him who serves God and him who doesn't serve him.

⁵ A voice came forth from the throne, saying, "Give praise to our God, all you his servants, you who fear him, the small and the great."

⁵ And God saw that the wickedness of humankind was great on the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

²¹ And God smelled the pleasing aroma, and God said in his heart, "I will never again curse the ground because of humankind, nor will I again destroy every living thing, as I have done.

⁶ Your right hand, LORD, is glorious in power. Your right hand, LORD, dashes the enemy in pieces. ⁷ In the greatness of your excellency, you overthrow those who rise up against you. You send forth your wrath. It consumes them as stubble.

⁹ The enemy said, 'I will pursue. I will overtake. I will divide the spoil. My desire shall be satisfied on them. I will draw my sword, my hand shall destroy them.' ¹⁰ You blew with your wind. The sea covered them. They sank like lead in the mighty waters. ¹¹ Who is like you, LORD, among the gods? Who is like you, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders? ¹² You stretched out your right hand. The earth swallowed them. ¹³ "You, in your loving kindness, have led the people that you have redeemed. You have guided them in your strength to your holy habitation.

¹¹ Now I know that the LORD is greater than all gods because of the thing in which they dealt arrogantly against them."

³⁴ Or has God tried to go and take a nation for himself from the midst of another nation, by trials, by signs, and by wonders, and by war, and by a mighty hand, and by an outstretched arm, and by great terrors, according to all that the LORD your God did for you in Egypt before your eyes?

¹⁹ and it happen, when he hears the words of this curse, that he bless himself in his heart, saying, "I shall have peace, though I walk in the stubbornness of my heart, to destroy the moist with the dry." ²⁰ God will not be willing to forgive him, but then the anger of the LORD and his jealousy will burn against that man, and every curse that is written in this book shall rest on him, and the LORD will blot out his name from under heaven.

³ "Do not keep speaking proudly. Do not let arrogance come out of your mouth, for the LORD is a God of knowledge. By him actions are weighed. ⁴ "The bows of the mighty men are broken. Those who stumbled are armed with strength.

⁹ Or do you have an arm like God? Can you thunder with a voice like him? ¹⁰ "Now deck yourself with excellency and dignity. Array yourself with honor and majesty. ¹¹ Pour out the fury of your anger. Look at everyone who is proud, and bring him low. ¹² Look at everyone who is proud, and humble him. Crush the wicked in their place.

¹ Why do the nations rage, and the peoples plot in vain? ² The kings of the earth take a stand, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his Anointed: ³ "Letʼs tear off their shackles, and throw off their ropes from us." ⁴ The one who sits in the heavens laughs. The LORD scoffs at them. ⁵ Then he will speak to them in his anger, and terrify them in his wrath: ⁶ "But I myself have installed my king on Zion, my holy mountain."

¹⁰ The LORD nullifies the counsel of the nations. He makes the thoughts of the peoples to be of no effect.

⁹ I will give you thanks forever, because you have done it. I will hope in your name, for it is good, in the presence of your faithful ones.

⁵ My soul shall be satisfied as with the richest food. My mouth shall praise you with joyful lips,

¹⁰ You have broken Rahab in pieces, like one of the slain. You have scattered your enemies with your mighty arm.

¹³ You have a mighty arm. Your hand is strong, and your right hand is exalted.

¹ [A Psalm.] Sing to the LORD a new song, for he has done marvelous things. His right hand, and his holy arm, have worked salvation for him.

¹⁵ The voice of rejoicing and salvation is in the tents of the righteous. "The right hand of the LORD does valiantly.

¹² Therefore it will happen that, when the Lord has performed his whole work on Mount Zion and on Jerusalem, he will punish the fruit of the willful proud heart of the king of Assyria, and the insolence of his haughty looks. ¹³ For he has said, "By the strength of my hand I have done it, and by my wisdom; for I have understanding: and I have removed the boundaries of the peoples, and have robbed their treasures. Like a valiant man I have brought down their rulers. ¹⁴ My hand has found the riches of the peoples like a nest, and like one gathers eggs that are abandoned, have I gathered all the earth. There was no one who moved their wing, or that opened their mouth, or chirped." ¹⁵ Should an axe brag against him who chops with it? Should a saw exalt itself above him who saws with it? As if a rod should lift those who lift it up, or as if a staff should lift up someone who is not wood. ¹⁶ Therefore the LORD of hosts, will send among his fat ones leanness; and under his glory a burning will be kindled like the burning of fire. ¹⁷ The light of Israel will be for a fire, and his Holy One for a flame; and it will burn and devour his thorns and his briers in one day. ¹⁸ He will consume the glory of his forest, and of his fruitful field, both soul and body. It will be as when a standard bearer faints. ¹⁹ The remnant of the trees of his forest shall be few, so that a child could write their number.

¹⁰ Look, the LORD will come as a mighty one, and his arm will rule for him. Look, his reward is with him, and his recompense before him.

⁹ Awake, awake, put on strength, arm of the LORD; awake, as in the days of old, the generations of ancient times. Isn't it you who cut Rahab in pieces, who pierced the monster?

¹⁰ The LORD has made bare his holy arm in the eyes of all the nations; and every part of the earth has seen the salvation of our God.

¹² who caused his glorious arm to go at the right hand of Moses? who divided the waters before them, to make himself an everlasting name?

²⁹ We have heard of the pride of Moab--he is very proud--of his pride, and his vanity, and his arrogance, and the haughtiness of his heart. ³⁰ I know his wrath,' says the LORD, 'that it is nothing; his boastings have worked nothing.

³⁷ Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and extol and honor the King of heaven; for all his works are truth, and his ways justice; and those who walk in pride he is able to humble."

²⁵ This is the writing that was inscribed: MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN. ²⁶ This is the interpretation of the thing: MENE; God has numbered your kingdom, and brought it to an end; ²⁷ TEKEL; you are weighed in the balances, and are found wanting. ²⁸ PERES; your kingdom is divided, and given to the Medes and Persians." ²⁹ Then commanded Belshazzar, and they clothed Daniel with purple, and put a chain of gold about his neck, and made proclamation concerning him, that he should be the third ruler in the kingdom. ³⁰ In that night Belshazzar the Chaldean King was slain. ³¹ Daryavesh the Mede received the kingdom, being about sixty-two years old.

²¹ Because, although they knew God, they did not glorify him as God or give him thanks, but their thinking became nonsense, and their foolish heart was darkened.

⁵ throwing down imaginations and every high thing that is exalted against the knowledge of God, and bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ;

⁵ Likewise, you younger ones, be subject to the elder. Yes, all of you clothe yourselves with humility, towards one another; for God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.

⁸ Therefore in one day her plagues will come: death, mourning, and famine; and she will be utterly burned with fire; for the Lord God who has judged her is strong.

⁴ "The bows of the mighty men are broken. Those who stumbled are armed with strength.

⁶ "The LORD kills, and makes alive. He brings down to Sheol, and brings up. ⁷ The LORD makes poor, and makes rich. He brings low, he also lifts up. ⁸ He raises up the poor out of the dust. He lifts up the needy from the dunghill, To make them sit with princes, and inherit the throne of glory. For the pillars of the earth are the LORD's. He has set the world on them.

¹¹ so that he sets up on high those who are low, those who mourn are exalted to safety. ¹² He frustrates the devices of the crafty, So that their hands can't perform their enterprise. ¹³ He traps the wise in their own craftiness, and the counsel of the cunning are brought to a quick end.

²⁴ He breaks in pieces mighty men in ways past finding out, and sets others in their place. ²⁵ Therefore he takes knowledge of their works. He overturns them in the night, so that they are destroyed. ²⁶ He strikes them as wicked men in the open sight of others; ²⁷ because they turned aside from following him, and wouldn't pay attention to any of his ways, ²⁸ so that they caused the cry of the poor to come to him. He heard the cry of the afflicted.

⁴⁰ He pours contempt on princes, and causes them to wander in a trackless waste. ⁴¹ Yet he lifts the needy out of their affliction, and increases their families like a flock.

⁶ Who stoops down to see in heaven and in the earth?

¹⁴ For out of prison he came forth to be king; yes, even in his kingdom he was born poor.

²⁴ All the trees of the field shall know that I, the LORD, have brought down the high tree, have exalted the low tree, have dried up the green tree, and have made the dry tree to flourish; I, the LORD, have spoken and have done it.'"

¹¹ On that day I will rebuild the tabernacle of David that has fallen, and repair its broken places, and I will rebuild its ruins, and I will restore it as in the days of old;

³ Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, and brother of James, Josi, Judas, and Simon? Are not his sisters here with us?" They were offended at him.

¹⁴ I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but he who humbles himself will be exalted."

⁹ But let the brother in humble circumstances glory in his high position; ¹⁰ and the rich, in that he is made humble, because like the flower in the grass, he will pass away.

¹⁰ Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he will exalt you.

⁵ Those who were full have hired themselves out for bread. Those who were hungry are satisfied. Even the barren has borne seven, and she who has many children languishes.

¹⁰ The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger, but those who seek the LORD shall not lack any good thing.

⁸ Let them praise the LORD for his loving kindness, for his wonderful works for the descendants of Adam. ⁹ For he satisfies the longing soul. He fills the hungry soul with good.

⁷ who executes justice for the oppressed; who gives food to the hungry. The LORD frees the prisoners.

²⁹ I will raise up to them a plantation for renown, and they shall be no more consumed with famine in the land, neither bear the shame of the nations any more.

⁶ Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they will be filled.

²¹ Blessed are you who hunger now, for you will be filled. Blessed are you who weep now, for you will laugh.

²⁴ "But woe to you who are rich. For you have received your consolation.

¹⁶ He spoke a parable to them, saying, "The ground of a certain rich man brought forth abundantly. ¹⁷ He reasoned within himself, saying, 'What will I do, because I do not have room to store my crops?' ¹⁸ He said, 'This is what I will do. I will pull down my barns, and build bigger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods. ¹⁹ I will tell my soul, "Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years. Take your ease, eat, drink, be merry."' ²⁰ "But God said to him, 'You foolish one, tonight your soul is required of you. The things which you have prepared—whose will they be?' ²¹ So is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God."

¹⁹ "Now there was a certain rich man, and he was clothed in purple and fine linen, living in luxury every day. ²⁰ A certain beggar, named Lazarus, was placed at his gate, full of sores, ²¹ and desiring to be fed with the crumbs that fell from the rich man's table. Yes, even the dogs came and licked his sores. ²² It happened that the beggar died, and that he was carried away by the angels to Abraham's bosom. The rich man also died, and was buried. ²³ In hell, he lifted up his eyes, being in torment, and saw Abraham far off, and Lazarus at his bosom. ²⁴ He called out and said, 'Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue. For I am in anguish in this flame.' ²⁵ "But Abraham said, 'Son, remember that you, in your lifetime, received your good things, and Lazarus, in like manner, bad things. But now here he is comforted and you are in anguish.

¹¹ The Pharisee stood and prayed to himself like this: 'God, I thank you, that I am not like other people, extortioners, unrighteous, adulterers, or even like this tax collector. ¹² I fast twice a week. I give tithes of all that I get.' ¹³ But the tax collector, standing far away, would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, 'God, be merciful to me, a sinner.' ¹⁴ I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but he who humbles himself will be exalted."

²⁴ And Jesus looked at him and said, "How hard it is for those who have riches to enter into the Kingdom of God. ²⁵ For it is easier for a camel to enter in through a needle's eye, than for a rich person to enter into the Kingdom of God."

¹¹ Jesus took the loaves; and having given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to those who were sitting down; likewise also of the fish as much as they desired. ¹² When they were filled, he said to his disciples, "Gather up the broken pieces which are left over, that nothing be lost." ¹³ So they gathered them up, and filled twelve baskets with broken pieces from the five barley loaves, which were left over by those who had eaten.

³⁵ Jesus said to them, "I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will not be hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.

²⁶ For consider your calling, brothers, that not many were wise from a human perspective, not many mighty, not many of noble birth.

⁸ You are already filled. You have already become rich. You have come to reign without us. Yes, and I wish that you did reign, that we also might reign with you.

¹ Come now, you rich, weep and cry aloud for your miseries that are coming on you. ² Your riches are corrupted and your garments are moth-eaten. ³ Your gold and your silver are corroded, and their corrosion will be for a testimony against you, and will eat your flesh like fire. You have laid up your treasure in the last days. ⁴ Look, the wages of the laborers who mowed your fields, which you have kept back by fraud, cry out, and the cries of those who reaped have entered into the ears of the Lord of hosts. ⁵ You have lived delicately on the earth, and taken your pleasure. You have nourished your hearts in a day of slaughter. ⁶ You have condemned, you have murdered the righteous one. He does not resist you.

¹⁷ Because you say, 'I am rich, and have gotten riches, and have need of nothing;' and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked; ¹⁸ I counsel you to buy from me gold refined by fire, that you may become rich; and white garments, that you may clothe yourself, and that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and eye salve to put on your eyes, that you may see.

¹⁶ They will hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither will the sun beat on them, nor any heat; ¹⁷ for the Lamb who is in the midst of the throne shepherds them, and leads them to springs of waters of life. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes."

³ He has remembered his loving kindness and his faithfulness toward the house of Israel. Every part of the earth has seen the salvation of our God.

²¹ Remember these things, Jacob and Israel; for you are my servant. I have formed you. You are my servant. Israel, you will not be forgotten by me.

³ "Listen to me, house of Jacob, and all the remnant of the house of Israel, that have been borne from their birth, that have been carried from the womb; ⁴ and even to old age I am he, and even to gray hairs will I carry you. I have made, and I will bear; yes, I will carry, and will deliver.

¹⁴ But Zion said, "The LORD has forsaken me, and my Lord has forgotten me." ¹⁵ "Can a woman forget her nursing child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? Yes, these may forget, yet I will not forget you. ¹⁶ Look, I have inscribed you on the palms of my hands; your walls are continually before me.

⁶ For the LORD has called you as a wife forsaken and grieved in spirit, even a wife of youth, when she is cast off," says your God. ⁷ "For a small moment have I forsaken you; but with great mercies will I gather you. ⁸ In overflowing wrath I hid my face from you for a moment; but with everlasting loving kindness will I have mercy on you," says the LORD your Redeemer. ⁹ "For this is like the waters of Noah to me; for as I have sworn that the waters of Noah shall no more go over the earth, so have I sworn that I will not be angry with you, nor rebuke you. ¹⁰ For the mountains may depart, and the hills be removed; but my loving kindness shall not depart from you, neither shall my covenant of peace be removed," says the LORD who has mercy on you.

⁷ I will make mention of the loving kindnesses of the LORD and the praises of the LORD, according to all that the LORD has bestowed on us, and the great goodness toward the house of Israel, which he has bestowed on them according to his mercies, and according to the multitude of his loving kindnesses. ⁸ For he said, "Surely, they are my people, children who will not deal falsely:" so he was their Savior. ⁹ In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them: in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; and he bore them, and carried them all the days of old. ¹⁰ But they rebelled, and grieved his holy Spirit: therefore he was turned to be their enemy, and he himself fought against them. ¹¹ Then he remembered the days of old, Moses and his people, saying, Where is he who brought them up out of the sea with the shepherds of his flock? Where is he who put his holy Spirit in their midst? ¹² who caused his glorious arm to go at the right hand of Moses? who divided the waters before them, to make himself an everlasting name? ¹³ who led them through the depths, as a horse in the wilderness, so that they did not stumble? ¹⁴ As the livestock that go down into the valley, the Spirit of the LORD caused them to rest; so you led your people, to make yourself a glorious name. ¹⁵ Look down from heaven, and see from the habitation of your holiness and of your glory: where are your zeal and your mighty acts? the yearning of your heart and your compassion is restrained toward me. ¹⁶ For you are our Father, though Abraham doesn't know us, and Israel does not acknowledge us: you, LORD, are our Father; our Redeemer from everlasting is your name.

³ The LORD appeared to him from afar. I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore with loving kindness have I drawn you.

²⁰ Is Ephraim my dear son? Is he a darling child? For as often as I speak against him, I do earnestly remember him still: therefore my heart yearns for him; I will surely have mercy on him," says the LORD.

²⁴ "Do not consider what this people has spoken, saying, 'The two families which the LORD chose, he has cast them off?' Thus do they despise my people, that they should be no more a nation before them. ²⁵ Thus says the LORD: 'If my covenant of day and night fails, if I have not appointed the ordinances of heaven and earth; ²⁶ then will I also cast away the descendants of Jacob, and of David my servant, so that I will not take of his descendants to be rulers over the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob: for I will cause their captivity to return, and will have mercy on them.'"

²⁰ You will give truth to Jacob, and mercy to Abraham, as you have sworn to our fathers from the days of old.

¹⁴ Sing, daughter of Zion. Shout, Israel. Be glad and rejoice with all your heart, daughter of Jerusalem. ¹⁵ The LORD has taken away your judgments. He has thrown out your enemy. The King of Israel, the LORD, is in the midst of you. You will not be afraid of evil any more. ¹⁶ In that day, it will be said to Jerusalem, "Do not be afraid, Zion. Do not let your hands be weak." ¹⁷ The LORD your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save. He will rejoice over you with joy. He will calm you in his love. He will rejoice over you with singing. ¹⁸ I will remove those who grieve about the appointed feasts from you. They are a burden and a reproach to you. ¹⁹ Look, at that time I will deal with all those who afflict you, and I will save those who are lame, and gather those who were driven away. I will give them praise and honor, whose shame has been in all the earth. ²⁰ At that time will I bring you in, and at that time will I gather you; for I will give you honor and praise among all the peoples of the earth, when I restore your fortunes before your eyes, says the LORD.

⁹ Rejoice greatly, daughter of Zion. Shout, daughter of Jerusalem. Look, your king comes to you. He is righteous, and having salvation; lowly, and riding on a donkey, even on a colt, the foal of a donkey. ¹⁰ I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim, and the horse from Jerusalem; and the battle bow will be cut off; and he will speak peace to the nations: and his dominion will be from sea to sea, and from the River to the farthest parts of the earth. ¹¹ As for you also, because of the blood of your covenant, I have set free your prisoners from the pit in which is no water.

⁷⁰ (as he spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets who have been from of old), ⁷¹ salvation from our enemies, and from the hand of all who hate us; ⁷² to show mercy towards our fathers, to remember his holy covenant, ⁷³ the oath which he spoke to Abraham, our father, ⁷⁴ to grant to us that we, being delivered out of the hand of our enemies, should serve him without fear, ⁷⁵ In holiness and righteousness before him all our days.

³ And I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse those who treat you with contempt, and through you all the families of the earth will be blessed."

⁴ I will multiply your descendants as the stars of the sky, and will give to your descendants all these lands, and by your descendants will all the nations of the earth be blessed,

¹⁴ Your descendants will be as the dust of the earth, and you will spread out to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south. And through you and through your descendants will all the families of the earth be blessed.

⁶ you offspring of Abraham, his servant, you descendants of Jacob, his chosen ones. ⁷ He is the LORD, our God. His judgments are in all the earth. ⁸ He has remembered his covenant forever, the word which he commanded to a thousand generations, ⁹ the covenant which he made with Abraham, his oath to Isaac, ¹⁰ and confirmed the same to Jacob for a statute; to Israel for an everlasting covenant,

¹¹ The LORD has sworn to David in truth. He will not turn from it: "I will set the fruit of your body on your throne. ¹² If your children will keep my covenant, my testimony that I will teach them, their children also will sit on your throne forevermore." ¹³ For the LORD has chosen Zion; he has desired it for his dwelling. ¹⁴ "This is my resting place forever. Here I will live, for I have desired it. ¹⁵ I will abundantly bless her provision. I will satisfy her poor with bread. ¹⁶ Her priests I will also clothe with salvation. Her faithful ones will shout aloud for joy. ¹⁷ There I will make the horn of David to bud. I have ordained a lamp for my anointed.

²⁸ Concerning the Good News, they are enemies for your sake. But concerning the election, they are loved for the fathers' sake. ²⁹ For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.

¹⁶ Now the promises were spoken to Abraham and to his offspring. He does not say, "And to offsprings," as of many, but as of one, "And to your offspring," which is Christ. ¹⁷ Now I say this: the law, which came four hundred thirty years later, does not annul a covenant previously ratified by God, so as to cancel the promise.

² Sarah conceived, and bore Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him. ³ Abraham called his son who was born to him, whom Sarah bore to him, Isaac.

¹⁹ God is not a man, that he should lie, nor the son of man, that he should repent. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not make it good?

⁶ It happened, while they were there, that the day had come that she should give birth. ⁷ And she gave birth to her firstborn son, and wrapped him with pieces of cloth, and placed him in a feeding trough, because there was no guest room available for them.

¹⁹ See now, your servant has found favor in your sight, and you have magnified your loving kindness, which you have shown to me in saving my life. I can't escape to the mountain, lest the disaster overtake me, and I die.

¹⁴ The women said to Naomi, "Blessed be the LORD, who has not left you this day without a redeemer; and let his name be famous in Israel. ¹⁵ He shall be to you a restorer of life, and sustain you in your old age, for your daughter-in-law, who loves you, who is better to you than seven sons, has borne him." ¹⁶ Naomi took the child, and laid it in her bosom, and looked after him. ¹⁷ The women, her neighbors, gave him a name, saying, "There is a son born to Naomi." And they named him Obed. He is the father of Jesse, the father of David.

⁹ Shall I bring to the birth, and not cause to bring forth?" says the LORD: "shall I who cause to bring forth shut the womb?" says your God. ¹⁰ "Rejoice with Jerusalem, and be glad for her, all you who love her: rejoice for joy with her, all you who mourn over her;

¹⁴ You will have joy and gladness; and many will rejoice at his birth.

²⁵ "Thus has the Lord done to me in the days in which he looked at me, to take away my disgrace among people."

¹⁵ Rejoice with those who rejoice. Weep with those who weep.

²⁶ When one member suffers, all the members suffer with it. Or when one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it.

¹² He who is eight days old will be circumcised among you, every male throughout your generations, he who is born in the house, or bought with money from any foreigner who is not of your descendants.

³ Abraham called his son who was born to him, whom Sarah bore to him, Isaac. ⁴ Abraham circumcised his son, Isaac, when he was eight days old, as God had commanded him.

³ In the eighth day the flesh of his foreskin shall be circumcised.

⁸ He gave him the covenant of circumcision. So Abraham became the father of Isaac, and circumcised him the eighth day. Isaac became the father of Jacob, and Jacob became the father of the twelve patriarchs.

⁵ circumcised the eighth day, of the nation of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; concerning the law, a Pharisee;

²⁵ and he sent by the hand of Nathan the prophet; and he named him Jedidiah, for the LORD's sake.

⁶³ And he asked for a writing tablet, and wrote, "His name is John." And they were all amazed.

³ Do not let kindness and truth forsake you. Bind them around your neck. Write them on the tablet of your heart.

⁸ Now go, write it before them on a tablet, and inscribe it in a book, that it may be for the time to come forever and ever.

¹ "The sin of Judah is written with a pen of iron, and with the point of a diamond: it is engraved on the tablet of their heart, and on the horns of your altars;

² The LORD answered me, "Write the vision, and make it plain on tablets, that he who runs may read it.

⁶⁰ His mother answered, "Not so; but he will be called John."

¹⁵ You shall speak to him, and put the words in his mouth. I will be with your mouth, and with his mouth, and will teach you what you shall do. ¹⁶ He will be your spokesman to the people; and it will happen, that he will be to you a mouth, and you will be to him as God.

⁷ You, LORD, when you favored me, made my mountain stand strong; but when you hid your face, I was troubled. ⁸ I cried to you, LORD. To the Lord I made petition: ⁹ "What profit is there in my destruction, if I go down to the pit? Shall the dust praise you? Shall it declare your truth? ¹⁰ Hear, LORD, and have mercy on me. LORD, be my helper." ¹¹ You have turned my mourning into dancing for me. You have removed my sackcloth, and clothed me with gladness, ¹² To the end that my heart may sing praise to you, and not be silent. LORD my God, I will give thanks to you forever.

¹⁵ Lord, open my lips. My mouth shall declare your praise.

¹⁸ The LORD has punished me severely, but he has not given me over to death. ¹⁹ Open to me the gates of righteousness. I will enter into them and praise the LORD.

¹ In that day you will say, "I will give thanks to you, the LORD; for you were angry with me, but your anger has turned away and you comfort me.

⁹ Then the LORD put forth his hand, and touched my mouth; and the LORD said to me, "Look, I have put my words in your mouth.

²⁷ But when I speak with you, I will open your mouth, and you shall tell them, 'Thus says the Lord GOD': He who hears, let him hear; and he who forbears, let him forbear: for they are a rebellious house.

²¹ 'In that day will I cause a horn to bud forth to the house of Israel, and I will give you the opening of the mouth in their midst; and they shall know that I am the LORD.'"

²² Now the hand of the LORD had been on me in the evening, before he who was escaped came; and he had opened my mouth, until he came to me in the morning; and my mouth was opened, and I was no more mute.

³⁴ "At the end of the days I, Nebuchadnezzar, lifted up my eyes to heaven, and my understanding returned to me, and I blessed the Most High, and I praised and honored him who lives forever. For his dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom from generation to generation. ³⁵ All the inhabitants of the earth are regarded as nothing; and he does according to his will in the host of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth; and none can stay his hand, or tell him, "What have you done?" ³⁶ At the same time my understanding returned to me; and for the glory of my kingdom, my majesty and splendor returned to me; and my counselors and my lords sought me out; and I was reinstated over my kingdom, and even more greatness was added to me. ³⁷ Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and extol and honor the King of heaven; for all his works are truth, and his ways justice; and those who walk in pride he is able to humble."

³³ And when the demon was cast out, the mute man spoke. And the crowds were amazed, saying, "Nothing like this has ever been seen in Israel."

³² They brought to him one who was deaf and had a speech difficulty, and they begged Jesus to lay his hand on him. ³³ He took him aside from the crowd, privately, and put his fingers into his ears, and he spat, and touched his tongue. ³⁴ Looking up to heaven, he sighed, and said to him, "Ephphatha." that is, "Be opened." ³⁵ And his ears were opened, and the impediment of his tongue was released, and he spoke clearly. ³⁶ He commanded them that they should tell no one, but the more he commanded them, so much the more widely they proclaimed it. ³⁷ They were astonished beyond measure, saying, "He has done all things well. He makes even the deaf hear, and the mute speak."

⁶ The men of Gibeon sent to Joshua to the camp to Gilgal, saying, "Do not abandon your servants. Come up to us quickly, and save us, and help us; for all the kings of the Amorites that dwell in the hill country have gathered together against us."

³⁹ Mary arose in those days and went into the hill country with haste, into a city of Judah,

¹⁶ Fear took hold of all, and they glorified God, saying, "A great prophet has arisen among us." and, "God has visited his people."

⁴³ Fear came on every soul, and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles.

⁵ Ananias, hearing these words, fell down and died. Great fear came on all who heard it.

¹¹ Great fear came on the whole church, and on all who heard these things.

¹⁷ This became known to all, both Jews and Greeks, who lived at Ephesus. Fear fell on them all, and the name of the Lord Jesus was magnified.

¹¹ After the three and a half days, the breath of life from God entered into them, and they stood on their feet. Great fear fell on those who saw them.

¹¹ His brothers were jealous of him, but his father kept thinking about the matter.

² And the LORD was with Joseph, and he became a successful man. And he was in the household of his master the Egyptian.

²⁴ The woman bore a son, and named him Samson. And the child grew, and the LORD blessed him. ²⁵ And the Spirit of the LORD began to direct him in Mahaneh Dan, between Zorah and Eshtaol.

¹⁸ But Samuel ministered before the LORD, being a child, clothed with a linen ephod.

¹⁸ Then one of the young men answered, and said, "Look, I have seen a son of Jesse the Bethlehemite, who is skillful in playing, and a mighty man of valor, and a warrior, and articulate in speech, and a handsome man; and the LORD is with him."

⁴⁶ The hand of the LORD was on Elijah; and he tucked his cloak into his belt and ran before Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel.

¹⁷ Let your hand be on the man of your right hand, on the son of man whom you made strong for yourself.

²¹ with whom my hand shall be established. My arm will also strengthen him.

¹¹ In my heart I have hidden your word, that I might not sin against you.

⁸⁰ The child was growing, and becoming strong in spirit, and was in the desert until the day of his public appearance to Israel.

⁴⁰ The child was growing, and was becoming strong, being filled with wisdom, and the grace of God was upon him.

⁴⁴ "Let these words sink into your ears, for the Son of Man will be delivered up into the hands of men."

²¹ The hand of the Lord was with them, and a great number believed and turned to the Lord.

²⁵ The LORD came down in the cloud, and spoke to him, and took of the Spirit that was on him, and put it on the seventy elders: and it happened that when the Spirit rested on them, they prophesied, but they did so no more.

² "The Spirit of the LORD spoke by me. His word was on my tongue.

²⁸ "And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh; and your sons and your daughters will prophesy, and your old men will dream dreams, and your young men will see visions.

⁴¹ It happened, when Elizabeth heard Mary's greeting, that the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.

²¹ For no prophecy ever came by human will, but people spoke from God, being moved by the Holy Spirit.

²⁶ He said, "Blessed be the God of Shem. Let Canaan be his servant.

²⁰ and blessed be God Most High, who has delivered your enemies into your hand." And he gave him a tenth of everything.

¹⁶ Go, and gather the elders of the children of Israel together, and tell them, 'The LORD, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob, has appeared to me, saying, "I have surely visited you, and seen that which is done to you in Egypt; ¹⁷ and I have said, I will bring you up out of the affliction of Egypt to the land of the Canaanite, the Hethite, the Amorite, the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite, to a land flowing with milk and honey."'

³¹ The people believed, and when they heard that God had visited the children of Israel, and that he had seen their affliction, then they bowed their heads and worshiped.

⁴⁸ Also thus said the king, 'Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, who has given one to sit on my throne this day, my eyes even seeing it.'"

¹⁰ Therefore David blessed the LORD before all the assembly; and David said, "You are blessed, LORD, the God of Israel our father, forever and ever.

²⁰ David said to all the assembly, "Now bless the LORD your God." All the assembly blessed the LORD, the God of their fathers, and bowed down their heads and prostrated themselves before the LORD and the king.

¹³ Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting and to everlasting. Amen and amen.

⁴⁸ Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting. And let all the people say, "Amen." Praise the LORD.

³⁸ Coming up at that very hour, she gave thanks to God, and spoke of him to all those who were looking for the redemption of Jerusalem.

⁴⁴ and will dash you and your children within you to the ground. They will not leave in you one stone on another, because you did not know the time of your visitation."

³ Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ;

⁷ in whom we have our redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace,

³ Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to his great mercy caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

¹ Hannah prayed, and said: "My heart exults in the LORD. My horn is exalted in my God. My mouth is enlarged over my enemies, because I rejoice in your salvation.

¹⁰ The LORD will shatter his adversaries. He will thunder against them in the sky. "The LORD will judge the farthest parts of the earth. He will give strength to his king, and exalt the horn of his anointed."

²⁶ Let your name be magnified forever, saying, 'The LORD of hosts is the God of Israel,' and the house of your servant David shall be established before you.

³ My God, my Rock, in him I will take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my savior; from violent people he saves me.

¹³ However I will not tear away all the kingdom; but I will give one tribe to your son, for David my servant's sake, and for Jerusalem's sake which I have chosen."

² The LORD is my Rock, my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my Rock, in whom I take refuge; my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower.

³ "I have made a covenant with my chosen one, I have sworn to David, my servant,

¹⁷ For you are the glory of their strength. In your favor, our horn will be exalted.

²⁰ I have found David, my servant. I have anointed him with my holy oil, ²¹ with whom my hand shall be established. My arm will also strengthen him. ²² No enemy will tax him. No wicked man will oppress him. ²³ I will beat down his adversaries before him, and strike those who hate him. ²⁴ But my faithfulness and my loving kindness will be with him. In my name, his horn will be exalted. ²⁵ I will set his hand also on the sea, and his right hand on the rivers. ²⁶ He will call to me, 'You are my Father, my God, and the rock of my salvation.' ²⁷ I will also appoint him my firstborn, the highest of the kings of the earth. ²⁸ I will keep my loving kindness for him forevermore. My covenant will stand firm with him. ²⁹ And I will establish his descendants forever, and his throne as the days of heaven. ³⁰ If his children forsake my Law, and do not walk in my ordinances; ³¹ if they break my statutes, and do not keep my commandments; ³² then I will punish their sin with the rod, and their iniquity with stripes. ³³ But I will not completely take my loving kindness from him, nor allow my faithfulness to fail. ³⁴ I will not break my covenant, nor alter what my lips have uttered.

¹⁷ There I will make the horn of David to bud. I have ordained a lamp for my anointed. ¹⁸ I will clothe his enemies with shame, but on himself, his crown will be resplendent."

¹ A branch will come out of the stock of Jesse, and a shoot out of his roots will bear fruit. ² The Spirit of the LORD will rest on him: the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD. ³ His delight will be in the fear of the LORD. He will not judge by the sight of his eyes, neither decide by the hearing of his ears; ⁴ but with righteousness he will judge the poor, and decide with equity for the humble of the earth. He will strike the earth with the rod of his mouth; and with the breath of his lips he will kill the wicked. ⁵ Righteousness will be the belt of his waist, and faithfulness the belt of his waist. ⁶ The wolf will live with the lamb, and the leopard will lie down with the young goat; The calf and the young lion will graze together; and a little child will lead them. ⁷ The cow and the bear will graze. Their young ones will lie down together. The lion will eat straw like the ox. ⁸ The nursing child will play near a cobra's hole, and the weaned child will put his hand on the viper's den. ⁹ They will not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain; for the earth will be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.

¹⁵ In those days, and at that time, will I cause a Branch of righteousness to grow up to David; and he shall execute justice and righteousness in the land. ¹⁶ In those days shall Judah be saved, and Jerusalem shall dwell safely; and this is the name by which she shall be called: "The LORD our righteousness." ¹⁷ For thus says the LORD: "David shall never want a man to sit on the throne of the house of Israel; ¹⁸ neither shall the priests the Levites want a man before me to offer burnt offerings, and to burn meal offerings, and to do sacrifice continually."'" ¹⁹ The word of the LORD came to Jeremiah, saying, ²⁰ "Thus says the LORD: 'If you can break my covenant of the day, and my covenant of the night, so that there shall not be day and night in their season; ²¹ then may also my covenant be broken with David my servant, that he shall not have a son to reign on his throne; and with the Levites the priests, my ministers. ²² As the host of heaven can't be numbered, neither the sand of the sea measured; so will I multiply the offspring of David my servant, and the Levites who minister to me.'" ²³ The word of the LORD came to Jeremiah, saying,

¹⁰ Blessed is the kingdom of our father David. Hosanna in the highest."

² which he promised before through his prophets in the holy Scriptures, ³ concerning his Son, who was born of the offspring of David according to the flesh,

¹⁶ I, Jesus, have sent my angel to testify these things to you for the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David; the bright morning star."

¹⁰ The scepter will not depart from Judah, nor the rulerʼs staff from between his feet, until he comes to whom it belongs. And it is he whom the peoples will obey.

⁵ "Look, the days come," says the LORD, "that I will raise to David a righteous Branch, and he shall reign as king and deal wisely, and shall execute justice and righteousness in the land.

¹⁰ Therefore do not be afraid, O Jacob my servant, says the LORD; neither be dismayed, Israel: for, look, I will save you from afar, and your descendants from the land of their captivity; and Jacob shall return, and shall be quiet and at ease, and none shall make him afraid.

²⁴ Seventy weeks are decreed on your people and on your holy city, to put an end to the transgression, and to make an end to sin, and to atone for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most holy place. ²⁵ Know therefore and understand that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem until the time of the Messiah, the Prince, there shall be seven weeks, and sixty-two weeks. It shall be built again, with open spaces and a moat, but in times of distress. ²⁶ After the sixty-two weeks the Messiah shall be cut off, and shall have nothing. And the people of a ruler who shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and his end shall come with a flood, and until the end there shall be war; desolations are decreed. ²⁷ He shall make a firm covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the offering to cease. And on the wing of abominations shall come one who destroys, and even until a complete destruction, until the decreed end is poured out on the one who destroys."

³⁶ David himself said in the Holy Spirit, 'The Lord said to my Lord, "Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies the footstool of your feet."'

²⁶ Did not the Christ have to suffer these things and to enter into his glory?" ²⁷ Beginning from Moses and from all the prophets, he explained to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself.

⁴⁴ And he said to them, "This is what I told you, while I was still with you, that all things which are written in the Law of Moses, the Prophets, and the Psalms, concerning me must be fulfilled."

²¹ whom heaven must receive until the times of restoration of all things, which God spoke long ago by the mouth of his holy prophets. ²² For Moses indeed said to the fathers, 'The Lord your God will raise up a prophet for you from among your brothers, like me. You must listen to him in all things whatever he says to you. ²³ It will be, that every soul that will not listen to that prophet will be utterly destroyed from among the people.' ²⁴ Yes, and all the prophets from Samuel and those who followed after, as many as have spoken, they also told of these days.

²⁵ When they did not agree among themselves, they departed after Paul had spoken one word, "The Holy Spirit spoke rightly through Isaiah, the prophet, to your fathers,

² which he promised before through his prophets in the holy Scriptures,

⁷ Therefore, even as the Holy Spirit says, "Today if you will hear his voice,

¹² To them it was revealed, that not to themselves, but to you, they ministered these things, which now have been announced to you through those who preached the Good News to you by the Holy Spirit sent out from heaven; which things angels desire to look into.

¹⁰ I fell down before his feet to worship him. He said to me, "Look. Do not do it. I am a fellow servant with you and with your brothers who hold the testimony of Jesus. Worship God, for the testimony of Jesus is the Spirit of Prophecy."

²⁹ You are happy, Israel. Who is like you, a people saved by the LORD, the shield of your help, the sword of your excellency. Your enemies shall submit themselves to you. You shall tread on their high places."

¹⁰ He saved them from the hand of him who hated them, and redeemed them from the hand of the enemy.

⁴⁷ Save us, LORD, our God, gather us from among the nations, to give thanks to your holy name, to triumph in your praise.

¹ For the LORD will have compassion on Jacob, and will yet choose Israel, and set them in their own land. The foreigner will join himself with them, and they will unite with the house of Jacob. ² The peoples will take them, and bring them to their place. The house of Israel will possess them in the LORD's land for servants and for handmaids. They will take as captives those whose captives they were; and they shall rule over their oppressors. ³ It will happen in the day that the LORD will give you rest from your sorrow, from your trouble, and from the hard service in which you were made to serve,

²⁴ Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer, and he who formed you from the womb: "I am the LORD, who makes all things; who alone stretches out the heavens; who spreads out the earth by myself; ²⁵ who foils the omens of the empty talkers, and makes fools of diviners; who turns sages back, and makes their knowledge foolish; ²⁶ who confirms the word of his servant, and performs the counsel of his messengers; who says of Jerusalem, 'She will be inhabited;' and of the cities of Judah, 'They will be built,' and 'I will raise up its waste places;'

⁷ "For a small moment have I forsaken you; but with great mercies will I gather you. ⁸ In overflowing wrath I hid my face from you for a moment; but with everlasting loving kindness will I have mercy on you," says the LORD your Redeemer. ⁹ "For this is like the waters of Noah to me; for as I have sworn that the waters of Noah shall no more go over the earth, so have I sworn that I will not be angry with you, nor rebuke you. ¹⁰ For the mountains may depart, and the hills be removed; but my loving kindness shall not depart from you, neither shall my covenant of peace be removed," says the LORD who has mercy on you. ¹¹ "You afflicted, tossed with storms, and not comforted, look, I will set your stones in beautiful colors, and lay your foundations with sapphires. ¹² I will make your pinnacles of rubies, and your gates of sparkling jewels, and all your walls of precious stones. ¹³ And all your children shall be taught by God; and great shall be the peace of your children. ¹⁴ In righteousness you shall be established: you shall be far from oppression, for you shall not be afraid; and from terror, for it shall not come near you. ¹⁵ Look, they may gather together, but not by me: whoever shall gather together against you shall fall because of you. ¹⁶ "Look, I have created the smith who blows the fire of coals, and brings forth a weapon for his work; and I have created the waster to destroy. ¹⁷ No weapon that is formed against you will prosper; and you will condemn every tongue that rises against you in judgment. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness which is of me," says the LORD.

⁶ In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely; and this is his name by which he shall be called: 'The LORD our righteousness.'

⁹ but they shall serve the LORD their God, and David their king, whom I will raise up to them. ¹⁰ Therefore do not be afraid, O Jacob my servant, says the LORD; neither be dismayed, Israel: for, look, I will save you from afar, and your descendants from the land of their captivity; and Jacob shall return, and shall be quiet and at ease, and none shall make him afraid. ¹¹ For I am with you, says the LORD, to save you: for I will make a full end of all the nations where I have scattered you, but I will not make a full end of you; but I will correct you in measure, and will in no way leave you unpunished."

³⁷ 'Look, I will gather them out of all the countries, where I have driven them in my anger, and in my wrath, and in great indignation; and I will bring them again to this place, and I will cause them to dwell safely:

²⁶ They shall dwell securely in it; yes, they shall build houses, and plant vineyards, and shall dwell securely, when I have executed judgments on all those who do them despite all around them; and they shall know that I am the LORD their God.'"

²⁵ "'I will make with them a covenant of peace, and will cause evil animals to cease out of the land; and they shall dwell securely in the wilderness, and sleep in the woods.

²⁸ They shall no more be a prey to the nations, neither shall the animals of the earth devour them; but they shall dwell securely, and none shall make them afraid.

⁸ After many days you shall be visited: in the latter years you shall come into the land that is brought back from the sword, that is gathered out of many peoples, on the mountains of Israel, which have been a continual waste; but it is brought forth out of the peoples, and they shall dwell securely, all of them.

⁹ Rejoice greatly, daughter of Zion. Shout, daughter of Jerusalem. Look, your king comes to you. He is righteous, and having salvation; lowly, and riding on a donkey, even on a colt, the foal of a donkey. ¹⁰ I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim, and the horse from Jerusalem; and the battle bow will be cut off; and he will speak peace to the nations: and his dominion will be from sea to sea, and from the River to the farthest parts of the earth.

⁷⁴ to grant to us that we, being delivered out of the hand of our enemies, should serve him without fear,

⁸ He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. To this end the Son of God was revealed, to destroy the works of the devil.

⁴ "As for me, look, my covenant is with you. You will be the father of a multitude of nations. ⁵ Neither will your name any more be called Abram, but your name will be Abraham; for I will make you the father of a multitude of nations. ⁶ I will make you exceedingly fruitful, and I will make nations of you. Kings will come out of you. ⁷ I will establish my covenant between me and you and your descendants after you throughout their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and to your descendants after you. ⁸ I will give to you, and to your descendants after you, the land of your sojournings, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession, and I will be their God." ⁹ God said to Abraham, "As for you, you are to keep my covenant, you and your descendants after you throughout their generations.

⁴² then I will remember my covenant with Jacob; and also my covenant with Isaac, and also my covenant with Abraham; and I will remember the land.

⁴⁵ He remembered for them his covenant, and repented according to the multitude of his loving kindnesses.

⁵ He has given food to those who fear him. He always remembers his covenant.

⁸ "'Now when I passed by you, and looked at you, look, your time was the time of love; and I spread my skirt over you, and covered your nakedness: yes, I swore to you, and entered into a covenant with you,' says the Lord GOD, 'and you became mine.

⁶⁰ Nevertheless I will remember my covenant with you in the days of your youth, and I will establish to you an everlasting covenant.

⁵⁴ He has given help to Israel, his servant, that he might remember mercy, ⁵⁵ As he spoke to our fathers, to Abraham and his offspring forever."

²⁵ You are the children of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying to Abraham, 'And through your offspring all the families of the earth will be blessed.' ²⁶ God, having raised up his Servant, sent him to you first, to bless you, in turning away everyone of you from your wickedness."

²⁸ Concerning the Good News, they are enemies for your sake. But concerning the election, they are loved for the fathers' sake.

¹⁵ Brothers, I am speaking in human terms. Though it is only a human covenant, once it has been ratified, no one annuls it or adds to it.

¹³ For when God made a promise to Abraham, since he could swear by none greater, he swore by himself, ¹⁴ saying, "I will indeed bless you, and I will greatly multiply you." ¹⁵ Thus, having patiently endured, he obtained the promise. ¹⁶ For people swear oaths by something greater, and in every dispute of theirs the oath is final for confirmation. ¹⁷ In this way God, being determined to show more abundantly to the heirs of the promise the immutability of his counsel, interposed with an oath; ¹⁸ that by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we may have a strong encouragement, who have fled for refuge to take hold of the hope set before us.

¹⁶ and said, "I have sworn by myself," says the LORD, "because you have done this thing, and have not withheld your son, your only one, from me, ¹⁷ I will indeed bless you, and I will greatly multiply your offspring like the stars of the sky, and like the sand which is on the seashore; and your offspring will possess the gate of their enemies. ¹⁸ And through your offspring all the nations of the earth will be blessed, because you have obeyed my voice."

⁷ Now the God of heaven, who took me from my father's house, and from the land of my birth, who spoke to me, and who swore to me, saying, 'I will give this land to your offspring' -- he will send his angel before you, and you shall take a wife for my son from there.

³ Sojourn in this land, and I will be with you, and will bless you. For to you, and to your descendants, I will give all these lands, and I will establish the oath which I swore to Abraham your father.

⁸ but because the LORD loves you, and because he would keep the oath which he swore to your fathers, has the LORD brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you out of the house of bondage, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.

¹² It shall happen, because you listen to these ordinances, and keep and do them, that the LORD your God will keep with you the covenant and the loving kindness which he swore to your fathers:

⁹ the covenant which he made with Abraham, his oath to Isaac,

⁵ that I may establish the oath which I swore to your fathers, to give them a land flowing with milk and honey," as at this day.'" Then I answered, and said, "Amen, LORD."

⁹ No lion will be there, nor will any ravenous animal go up on it. They will not be found there; but the redeemed will walk there. ¹⁰ The LORD's ransomed ones will return, and come with singing to Zion; and everlasting joy will be on their heads. They will obtain gladness and joy, and sorrow and sighing will flee away."

¹⁷ Israel will be saved by the LORD with an everlasting salvation. You will not be disappointed nor confounded to ages everlasting.

¹³ And all your children shall be taught by God; and great shall be the peace of your children. ¹⁴ In righteousness you shall be established: you shall be far from oppression, for you shall not be afraid; and from terror, for it shall not come near you.

²¹ They shall build houses, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and eat their fruit. ²² They shall not build, and another inhabit; they shall not plant, and another eat: for as the days of a tree shall be the days of my people, and my chosen shall long enjoy the work of their hands. ²³ They shall not labor in vain, nor bring forth for calamity; for they are the descendants of the blessed of the LORD, and their offspring with them. ²⁴ It shall happen that, before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear. ²⁵ The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, and the lion shall eat straw like the ox; and dust shall be the serpent's food. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain," says the LORD.

²⁵ "'I will make with them a covenant of peace, and will cause evil animals to cease out of the land; and they shall dwell securely in the wilderness, and sleep in the woods. ²⁶ I will make them and the places around my hill a blessing; and I will cause the shower to come down in its season; there shall be showers of blessing. ²⁷ The tree of the field shall yield its fruit, and the earth shall yield its increase, and they shall be secure in their land; and they shall know that I am the LORD, when I have broken the bars of their yoke, and have delivered them out of the hand of those who made slaves of them. ²⁸ They shall no more be a prey to the nations, neither shall the animals of the earth devour them; but they shall dwell securely, and none shall make them afraid.

²⁸ They shall know that I am the LORD their God, in that I caused them to go into captivity among the nations, and have gathered them to their own land; and I will leave none of them any more there; ²⁹ neither will I hide my face any more from them; for I have poured out my Spirit on the house of Israel,' says the Lord GOD."

⁸ I will camp around my house against the army, that none pass through or return; and no oppressor will pass through them any more: for now I have seen with my eyes.

⁷¹ salvation from our enemies, and from the hand of all who hate us;

²² But now, being made free from sin, and having become slaves of God, you have your fruit of sanctification, and the result of everlasting life.

¹⁵ For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry, "Abba. Father."

⁷ For God did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power and love and of a sound mind.

¹⁵ and might deliver all of them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.

¹⁴ how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, cleanse our conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

¹⁰ Do not be afraid of the things which you are about to suffer. Look, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested; and you will have oppression for ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.

² that you might fear the LORD your God, to keep all his statutes and his commandments, which I command you, you, and your son, and your son's son, all the days of your life; and that your days may be prolonged.

⁴⁴ He gave them the lands of the nations. They took the labor of the peoples in possession, ⁴⁵ that they might keep his statutes, and observe his laws. Praise the LORD.

³³ "But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days," says the LORD: "I will put my law in their minds, and write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people: ³⁴ and they shall teach no more every man his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, 'Know the LORD'; for they shall all know me, from their least to their greatest,for I will forgive their iniquity, and their sins I will remember no more."

³⁹ and I will give them one heart and one way, that they may fear me forever, for their good, and of their children after them: ⁴⁰ and I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from following them, to do them good; and I will put my fear in their hearts, that they may not depart from me.

²⁴ For I will take you from among the nations, and gather you out of all the countries, and will bring you into your own land. ²⁵ I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you. ²⁶ And I will also give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit within you. And I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh. ²⁷ I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and you shall keep my ordinances, and do them.

⁴ even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and without blemish before him in love;

¹⁰ For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared before that we would walk in them.

²⁴ and put on the new self, who in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of truth.

¹ Finally then, brothers, we ask and urge you in the Lord Jesus, that as you received from us how you ought to live and to please God, even as you are living, that you excel more and more.

⁷ For God called us not for uncleanness, but in sanctification.

¹³ But we are bound to always give thanks to God for you, brothers loved by the Lord, because God chose you from the beginning for salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief in the truth;

⁹ who saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began,

¹⁴ As obedient children, do not be conformed to the desires as in your ignorance, ¹⁵ but just as he who called you is holy, you yourselves also be holy in all of your behavior; ¹⁶ because it is written, "Be holy, for I am holy."

⁴ by which he has granted to us his precious and exceedingly great promises; that through these you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world by lust. ⁵ Yes, and for this very cause adding on your part all diligence, in your faith supply moral excellence; and in moral excellence, knowledge; ⁶ and in knowledge, self-control; and in self-control patience; and in patience godliness; ⁷ and in godliness brotherly affection; and in brotherly affection, love. ⁸ For if these things are yours and abound, they make you to be not idle nor unfruitful to the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

⁵ Yes, of Zion it will be said, "This one and that one was born in her;" the Most High himself will establish her.

⁵ Look, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the great and awesome day of the LORD comes.

³ For this is he who was spoken of by Isaiah the prophet, saying, "The voice of one who calls out in the wilderness, 'Prepare the way of the Lord. Make his roads straight.'"

⁹ But what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and much more than a prophet. ¹⁰ This is the one of whom it is written, 'Look, I send my messenger ahead of you, who will prepare your way before you.'

⁵ And though he wanted to kill him, he feared the crowd because they regarded him as a prophet.

²⁶ But if we say, 'From people,' we fear the crowd, for all hold John as a prophet."

² As it is written in Isaiah the prophet, "Look, I send my messenger ahead of you, who will prepare your way before you. ³ The voice of one crying in the wilderness, 'Prepare the way of the Lord. Make his roads straight.'"

³² If we should say, 'From people'"—they feared the crowd, for all held John to really be a prophet.

¹⁶ He will turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord, their God. ¹⁷ He will go before him in the spirit and power of Elijah, 'to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children,' and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord."

³² He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father, David,

⁴ As it is written in the scroll of the words of Isaiah the prophet, "The voice of one crying in the wilderness, 'Prepare the way of the Lord. Make his roads straight. ⁵ Every valley will be filled, and every mountain and hill will be made low, and the crooked will be made straight, and the rough ways smooth. ⁶ And all humanity will see the salvation of God.'"

²⁷ This is he of whom it is written, 'Look, I send my messenger ahead of you, who will prepare your way before you.' ²⁸ "I tell you, among those who are born of women there is none greater than John, yet he who is least in the Kingdom of God is greater than he."

²³ He said, "I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, 'Make straight the way of the Lord,' as Isaiah the prophet said."

²⁷ He is the one who comes after me, whose sandal strap I'm not worthy to loosen."

²⁴ before his coming, when John had first preached the baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel. ²⁵ As John was fulfilling his course, he said, 'What do you suppose that I am? I am not he. But look, one comes after me the sandals of whose feet I am not worthy to untie.'

³⁴ and they shall teach no more every man his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, 'Know the LORD'; for they shall all know me, from their least to their greatest,for I will forgive their iniquity, and their sins I will remember no more."

³ The voice of one crying in the wilderness, 'Prepare the way of the Lord. Make his roads straight.'" ⁴ John came baptizing in the wilderness and preaching a baptism of repentance for forgiveness of sins.

³ He came into all the region around the Jordan, preaching a baptism of repentance for forgiveness of sins.

⁶ And all humanity will see the salvation of God.'"

⁴⁷ Therefore I tell you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven, for she loved much. But to whom little is forgiven, the same loves little." ⁴⁸ He said to her, "Your sins are forgiven." ⁴⁹ And those who were reclining with him began to say to themselves, "Who is this who even forgives sins?" ⁵⁰ He said to the woman, "Your faith has saved you. Go in peace."

⁷ He came as a witness to testify about the light, that all might believe through him. ⁸ He was not the light, but was sent that he might testify about the light. ⁹ The true light that enlightens everyone was coming into the world.

¹⁵ John testified about him and shouted out, saying, "This was the one of whom I said, 'He who comes after me has surpassed me, for he was before me.'" ¹⁶ For of his fullness we all received, and grace upon grace. ¹⁷ For the Law was given through Moses, grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

²⁹ The next day, he saw Jesus coming to him, and said, "Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world.

²⁷ John answered, "No one can receive anything, unless it has been given to him from heaven. ²⁸ You yourselves bear me witness that I said, 'I am not the Christ,' but, 'I have been sent before him.' ²⁹ He who has the bride is the bridegroom; but the friend of the bridegroom, who stands and hears him, rejoices greatly because of the bridegroom's voice. So this joy of mine is now complete. ³⁰ He must increase, but I must decrease. ³¹ He who comes from above is above all. He who is from the earth belongs to the earth, and speaks of the earth. He who comes from heaven is above all. ³² What he has seen and heard, of that he testifies; and no one receives his witness. ³³ He who has received his witness has set his seal to this, that God is true. ³⁴ For he whom God has sent speaks the words of God; for he does not give the Spirit by measure.

³⁸ Peter said to them, "Repent, and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

¹⁹ "Repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out, so that there may come times of refreshing from the presence of the Lord,

³¹ God exalted him with his right hand to be a Leader and a Savior, to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.

⁴³ All the prophets testify about him, that through his name everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins."

³⁸ Be it known to you therefore, brothers, that through this man is proclaimed to you forgiveness of sins, ³⁹ and by him everyone who believes is justified from all things, from which you could not be justified by the Law of Moses.

⁴ Paul said, "John indeed baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying to the people that they should believe in the one who would come after him, that is, in Jesus."

²⁵ whom God set forth whom God displayed publicly as a mercy seat, through faith in his blood, for a demonstration of his righteousness, because in God's forbearance he had passed over the sins previously committed;

⁶ Even as David also pronounces blessing on the one to whom God counts righteousness apart from works, ⁷ "Happy are those whose lawless deeds are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. ⁸ Happy is the one whom the Lord will not charge with sin."

¹⁷ I see him, but not now. I see him, but not near. A star will come out of Jacob. A scepter will rise out of Israel, and will crush the forehead of Moab, and the crown of all the sons of tumult.

⁶ LORD, remember your tender mercies and your loving kindness, for they are from old times.

¹ A branch will come out of the stock of Jesse, and a shoot out of his roots will bear fruit.

⁷ I will make mention of the loving kindnesses of the LORD and the praises of the LORD, according to all that the LORD has bestowed on us, and the great goodness toward the house of Israel, which he has bestowed on them according to his mercies, and according to the multitude of his loving kindnesses.

¹⁵ Look down from heaven, and see from the habitation of your holiness and of your glory: where are your zeal and your mighty acts? the yearning of your heart and your compassion is restrained toward me.

⁸ Hear now, Joshua the high priest, you and your fellows who sit before you; for they are men who are a sign: for, look, I will bring forth my servant, the Branch.

¹² and speak to him, saying, 'Thus says the LORD of hosts, "Look, the man whose name is the Branch: and he shall grow up out of his place; and he shall build the temple of the LORD;

² But to you who fear my name shall the sun of righteousness arise with healing in its wings. You will go out, and leap like calves of the stall.

¹⁶ For God loved the world in this way: He gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him would not perish, but have everlasting life.

⁴ But God, being rich in mercy, for his great love with which he loved us, ⁵ even when we were dead through our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),

¹⁴ Therefore he says, "Awake, you who sleep, and rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you."

⁸ For God is my witness, how I long after all of you in the tender mercies of Christ Jesus.

¹ If there is therefore any exhortation in Christ, if any consolation of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any tender mercies and compassion,

¹² Put on therefore, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, a heart of compassion, kindness, gentleness, humility, and patience;

¹⁹ We have the more sure word of prophecy; and you do well that you heed it, as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns, and the morning star arises in your hearts:

¹⁷ But whoever has the world's goods, and sees his brother in need, and closes his heart of compassion against him, how does the love of God remain in him?

⁹ By this God's love was revealed in us, that God has sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. ¹⁰ In this is love, not that we have loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son as the atoning sacrifice for our sins.

⁵ Let darkness and the shadow of death claim it for their own. Let a cloud dwell on it. Let the blackness of the day terrify it.

²² the land dark as midnight, of the shadow of death, without any order, where the light is as midnight.'"

⁴ Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me. Your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

⁸ Good and upright is the LORD, therefore he will instruct sinners in the way. ⁹ He will guide the humble in justice. He will teach the humble his way. ¹⁰ All the paths of the LORD are loving kindness and truth to those who keep his covenant and his testimonies.

¹² What man is he who fears the LORD? He shall instruct him in the way that he shall choose.

¹⁹ Though you have crushed us in the haunt of jackals, and covered us with the shadow of death.

¹⁰ Mercy and truth meet together. Righteousness and peace have kissed each other. ¹¹ Truth springs out of the earth. Righteousness has looked down from heaven. ¹² Yes, the LORD will give that which is good. Our land will yield its increase. ¹³ Righteousness goes before him, And prepares the way for his steps.

¹⁰ Some sat in darkness and in the shadow of death, being bound in affliction and iron,

¹⁴ He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and broke their bonds in sunder.

¹⁷ Her ways are ways of pleasantness. All her paths are peace.

²⁰ I walk in the way of righteousness, in the midst of the paths of justice;

² The people sitting in darkness have seen a great light. Those living in the land and shadow of death, on them a light has shined.

⁷ to open the blind eyes, to bring the prisoners out of the dungeon, and those who sit in darkness out of the prison.

¹⁶ I will bring the blind by a way that they do not know. I will lead them in paths that they do not know. I will make darkness light before them, and crooked places straight. I will do these things, and I will not forsake them.

¹⁷ Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: I am the LORD your God, who teaches you to profit, who leads you by the way that you should go.

²² "There is no peace," says the LORD, "for the wicked."

⁹ saying to those who are bound, 'Come out.'; to those who are in darkness, 'Show yourselves.' "They shall feed in the ways, and on all bare heights shall be their pasture.

¹⁹ I create the fruit of the lips: Peace, peace, to him who is far off and to him who is near," says the LORD; "and I will heal him." ²⁰ But the wicked are like the troubled sea; for it can't rest, and its waters cast up mire and dirt. ²¹ "There is no peace," says my God, "for the wicked."

⁸ The way of peace they do not know; and there is no justice in their goings: they have made them crooked paths; whoever goes in it does not know peace.

¹ "Arise, shine; for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD has risen upon you. ² For, look, darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the peoples; but the LORD will arise on you, and his glory shall be seen on you. ³ Nations shall come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising.

⁶ Neither did they say, 'Where is the LORD who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, who led us through the wilderness, through a land of deserts and of pits, through a land of drought and of the shadow of death, through a land that none passed through, and where no man lived?'

¹⁶ Thus says the LORD, "Stand in the ways and see, and ask for the old paths, 'Where is the good way?' and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls." But they said, "We will not walk in it."

¹⁶ The people sitting in darkness have seen a great light, and those living in the land and shadow of death, on them a light has dawned."

²⁸ "Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. ²⁹ Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you will find rest for your souls.

³² a light for revelation to the nations, and the glory of your people Israel."

⁹ The true light that enlightens everyone was coming into the world.

¹² Again, therefore, Jesus spoke to them, saying, "I am the light of the world. He who follows me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the light of life."

⁵ While I am in the world, I am the light of the world."

⁴⁶ I have come as a light into the world, that whoever believes in me may not remain in the darkness.

¹⁸ to open their eyes, that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in me.'

¹⁷ The way of peace, they have not known."

⁸ For you were once darkness, but are now light in the Lord. Walk as children of light,

⁴ But you, brothers, are not in darkness, that the day should overtake you like a thief. ⁵ You are all children of light, and children of the day. We do not belong to the night, nor to darkness,

⁵ This is the message which we have heard from him and announce to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. ⁶ If we say that we have fellowship with him and walk in the darkness, we lie, and do not tell the truth. ⁷ But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin.

¹⁹ Samuel grew, and the LORD was with him, and let none of his words fall to the ground. ²⁰ All Israel from Dan even to Beersheba knew that Samuel was established to be a prophet of the LORD.

¹ And in those days John the Baptist came, preaching in the wilderness of Judea

⁷ And as these went their way, Jesus began to say to the crowds concerning John, "What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind?

⁵² And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and people.

³¹ I did not know him, but for this reason I came baptizing in water: that he would be revealed to Israel."
