¹² I will walk among you, and will be your God, and you will be my people.

⁸ They heard the voice of God walking in the garden during the breeze of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of God among the trees of the garden.

³³ "But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days," says the LORD: "I will put my law in their minds, and write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people:

²⁰ that they may walk in my statutes, and keep my ordinances, and do them: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God.

³⁸ As the flock for sacrifice, as the flock of Jerusalem in her appointed feasts, so shall the waste cities be filled with flocks of men; and they shall know that I am the LORD.'"

²⁷ You will know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I am the LORD, your God, and there is no one else; and my people will never be put to shame.

¹⁶ What agreement has a temple of God with idols? For we are a temple of the living God. Even as God said, "I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they will be my people."

¹⁶ Instead, they were longing for a better country, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed of them, to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them.
