⁶ But because I have told you these things, sorrow has filled your heart.

⁴⁵ When he rose up from his prayer, he came to the disciples, and found them sleeping because of grief,

¹⁷ And he said to them, "What are these words that you are exchanging with each other as you walk?" And they stood still, looking sad.

¹ "Do not let your heart be troubled. Believe in God. Believe also in me.

²⁷ Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. ²⁸ You heard how I told you, 'I am going away, and I will come to you.' If you loved me, you would rejoice that I am going to the Father; for the Father is greater than I.

²⁰ Truly, truly, I tell you, that you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice. You will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will be turned into joy. ²¹ A woman, when she gives birth, has pain, because her time has come. But when she has delivered the child, she does not remember the anguish any more, for the joy that a human being is born into the world. ²² Therefore you have sorrow now, but I will see you again, and your heart will rejoice, and no one will take your joy away from you.

¹¹ But Mary was standing outside at the tomb weeping. So, as she wept, she stooped and looked into the tomb, ¹² and she saw two angels in white sitting, one at the head, and one at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain. ¹³ They told her, "Woman, why are you weeping?" She said to them, "Because they have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have put him." ¹⁴ When she had said this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing, and did not know that it was Jesus. ¹⁵ Jesus said to her, "Woman, why are you weeping? Who are you looking for?" She, supposing him to be the gardener, said to him, "Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have put him, and I will take him away."
