¹⁹ All my familiar friends abhor me. They whom I loved have turned against me.

¹⁴ "To the despairing, kindness should be shown from his friend; even to him who forsakes the fear of Shaddai. ¹⁵ My brothers have dealt deceitfully as a brook, as the channel of brooks that pass away;

¹¹ My loved ones and my friends keep their distance because of my affliction. My kinsmen stand far away.

⁹ Even my own close friend, in whom I trusted, who ate my bread, has lifted up his heel against me.

¹² For it was not an enemy who insulted me, then I could have endured it. Neither was it he who hated me who raised himself up against me, then I would have hid myself from him. ¹³ But it was you, a man like me, my companion, and my familiar friend. ¹⁴ We took sweet fellowship together. We walked in God's house with company.

²⁰ He has stretched out his hand against those who were at peace with him. He has violated his covenant.

⁴ In return for my love, they are my adversaries; but I am in prayer. ⁵ They have rewarded me evil for good, and hatred for my love.
