¹³ That you turn your spirit against God, and let such words go out of your mouth?

⁴ For he is wise in heart, and mighty in strength: who has hardened himself against him, and prospered?

³ Is it good to you that you should oppress, that you should despise the work of your hands, and smile on the counsel of the wicked?

⁶ The tents of robbers prosper. Those who provoke God are secure, who carry their god in their hands.

²⁵ Because he has stretched out his hand against God, and behaves himself proudly against Shaddai; ²⁶ he runs at him with a stiff neck, with the thick shields of his bucklers; ²⁷ because he has covered his face with his fatness, and gathered fat on his thighs.

¹³ Keep your tongue from evil, and your lips from speaking lies.

¹³ "Your words have been stout against me," says the LORD. "Yet you say, 'What have we spoken against you?'

⁷ because the mind set on the flesh is hostile towards God, for it does not submit to God's law; indeed, it cannot. ⁸ And those who are in the flesh cannot please God.

²⁶ If anyone thinks himself to be religious while he does not control his tongue, but deceives his heart, this one's religion is worthless.

See how a small fire can spread to a large forest. ⁶ And the tongue is a fire. The world of iniquity among our members is the tongue, which defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature, and is set on fire by hell.
