²² And the report concerning them was heard by the church in Jerusalem, so they sent Barnabas to Antioch,

³⁶ Joseph, who by the apostles was surnamed Barnabas (which is translated, Son of Encouragement), a Levite, a native of Cyprus by birth, ³⁷ having a field, sold it, and brought the money and put it at the apostles' feet.

¹⁴ Now when the apostles who were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent Peter and John to them,

²⁷ But Barnabas took him, and brought him to the apostles, and declared to them how he had seen the Lord in the way, and that he had spoken to him, and how at Damascus he had preached boldly in the name of Jesus.

¹ Now the apostles and the brothers who were in Judea heard that the non-Jewish people had also received the word of God.

¹ Now in the church that was at Antioch there were some prophets and teachers: Barnabas, Simeon who was called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen the foster brother of Herod the tetrarch, and Saul. ² As they served the Lord and fasted, the Holy Spirit said, "Separate Barnabas and Saul for me, for the work to which I have called them." ³ Then, when they had fasted and prayed and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.

² Therefore when Paul and Barnabas had no small discord and discussion with them, they appointed Paul and Barnabas, and some others of them, to go up to Jerusalem to the apostles and elders about this question.

²² Then it seemed good to the apostles and the elders, with the whole church, to choose men out of their company, and send them to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas: Judas called Barsabbas, and Silas, chief men among the brothers.

³⁵ And Paul and Barnabas stayed in Antioch, teaching and proclaiming the word of the Lord, with many others also. ³⁶ After some days Paul said to Barnabas, "Let us return now and visit our brothers in every city in which we proclaimed the word of the Lord, to see how they are doing." ³⁷ Barnabas planned to take John, who was called Mark, with them also. ³⁸ But Paul did not think that it was a good idea to take with them someone who had withdrawn from them in Pamphylia, and did not go with them to do the work. ³⁹ Then the contention grew so sharp that they separated from each other. Barnabas took Mark with him, and sailed away to Cyprus,

⁶ But when Timothy came just now to us from you, and brought us glad news of your faith and love, and that you have good memories of us always, longing to see us, even as we also long to see you;
