¹ Surely you know, my brothers — for I am speaking to men who know what law means — that the law has hold over a person only during his lifetime!

¹³ Brothers, I would like you to understand that I have often purposed to come to you (though up till now I have been prevented) so as to have some results among you as well as among the rest of the Gentiles.

¹⁷ If you bear the name of 'Jew,' relying on the Law, priding yourself on God, ¹⁸ understanding his will, and with a sense of what is vital in religion; if you are instructed by the Law

¹ Oh for their salvation, brothers! That is my heart's desire and prayer to God!

⁸ Human arguments, you say? But does not Scripture urge the very same?

²¹ Tell me, you who are keen to be under the Law, will you not listen to the Law?
