⁷⁰ But he denied it before them all; "I do not know what you mean," he said.

³⁴ Jesus said to him, "I tell you truly, you will disown me three times this very night, before the cock crows." ³⁵ Peter said to him, "Even though I have to die with you, I will never disown you." And all the disciples said the same thing.

⁴⁰ Then he went to the disciples and found them asleep; and he said to Peter, "So the three of you could not watch with me for a single hour? ⁴¹ Watch and pray, all of you, so that you may not slip into temptation. The spirit is eager but the flesh is weak." ⁴² Again he went away for the second time and prayed, "My Father, if this cup cannot pass unless I drink it, thy will be done." ⁴³ And when he returned he found them asleep again, for their eyes were heavy.
