⁸ So Jesus despatched Peter and John, saying, "Go and prepare the passover for us that we may eat it."

¹⁵ But Jesus answered him, "Come now, this is how we should fulfil all our duty to God." Then John gave in to him.

¹³ So he despatched two of his disciples, telling them, "Go into the city and you will meet a man carrying a water-jar; follow him, ¹⁴ and whatever house he goes into, tell the owner that the Teacher says, 'Where is my room, that I may eat the passover there with my disciples?' ¹⁵ He will show you a large room upstairs, with couches spread, all ready; prepare the passover for us there." ¹⁶ The disciples went away into the city and found it was as he had told them. So they prepared the passover,

⁶ They were both just in the sight of God, blameless in their obedience to all the commands and regulations of God;

¹ Peter and John were on their way up to the temple for the hour of prayer at three in the afternoon,

¹¹ As he clung to Peter and John, all the people rushed awestruck to them in what was called Solomon's portico.

¹³ They were astonished to notice how outspoken Peter and John were, and to discover that they were uncultured persons and mere outsiders; they recognized them as having been companions of Jesus,

¹⁹ But Peter and John replied, "Decide for yourselves whether it is right before God to obey you rather than God.
