⁹ Reioyce thou greatly, O doughter Syon, be glad, O doughter Ierusalem. For lo, thy king commeth vnto the, euen the ryghteous & Sauioure: Lowly and simple is he, he rydeth vpon an asse, & vpon the foale of an asse.

⁶ Yet haue I sette my kyng vpon my holy hyll of syon.

¹ To the chaunter, vpon Sosanim, an instruccion of the chyldren of Corah, a songe of loue. Mi herte is endytinge of a godd matter, I speake of that, which I haue made of the kynge: My tonge is the penne of a ready wryter.

⁶ Thy seate (O God) endureth for euer: the scepter of thy kyngdome is a right scepter. ⁷ Thou hast loued righteousnesse, & hated iniquitie: wherfore God (which is thy God) hath anoynted the with the oyle of gladnes aboue thy felowes.

⁹ For hys saluacyon is nye them that feare hym so, that glory shall dwell in oure lande. ¹⁰ Mercy and trueth are met together, ryghtuousnesse and peace kysseth eche other. ¹¹ Trueth shall ryse oute of the earthe, and ryghtuousnesse shal loke downe from heauen ¹² And why? the Lorde shall shewe louynge kyndnesse, and oure lande shal geue her encrease.

⁶ The very heauens declare his righteousnes, and all the people se his glory. ⁷ Confounded be all thei that worship ymages, and delyte in their Idols: worship him all ye Goddes. ⁸ Sion heareth of it & reioyseth: yea, & all the daughters of Iuda are glad because of thy iudgementes, O lorde.

¹ A Psalme of Dauyd. The Lorde sayde vnto my Lord: Syt thou on my ryght hande, vntyll I make thyne enemies thy fotestole. ² The Lord shal sende the rod of thy power out of Sion; be thou ruler euen in the myddest amonge thyne enemyes. ³ In the daye of thy power shal thy people offer the frewyll offerynges wyth an holye worshyppe, the dewe of thy byrthe is of the wombe of the mornynge. ⁴ The Lorde sware, and wyll not repente: Thou arte a priest for euer after the order of Melchisedec.

⁶ For vnto vs a chylde shalbe borne, and vnto vs a sonne shalbe geuen. Vpon his shoulder shall the kyngedome lye, and he shalbe called with hys owne name. The wonderous geuer of councel, the myghty God, the euerlastinge father, the prynce of peace, ⁷ he shall make no ende to encrease the kyngedome and peace, and shall sytte vpon the seate of Dauid, and in his kyngedome, to set vp the same, to stablyshe it wyth equyte and ryghteousnesse, from thence forth for euermore. This shall the gelousy of the Lorde of hostes brynge to paste.

⁶ Crye oute, and be glad, thou that dwellest in Sion, for greate is thy prince, the holy one of Israell.

¹ Beholde, the kynge shal gouerne after the rule of ryghtuousnes, & the princes shal rule according to the balaunce of equyte. ² He shalbe vnto men as a defence for the wynde, & as a refuge for the tempeste, like as a riuer of water in a thurstye place, and the shadowe of a great rocke in a drye land.

⁹ Go vp vnto the hyll (O Sion) thou tha bryngest good tydynges, lyft vp thy voyce with power, O thou preacher Ierusalem. Lyft it vp without feare, & saye vnto the cities of Iuda: Beholde youre God,

³ For I am the Lorde thy God, the holy one of Israel, thy Sauyour. I gaue Egypte for thy delyueraunce, the Moryans, and the Sabees for the:

¹¹ I am only the Lorde, and wythout me is there no Sauyour.

²¹ Lett men drawe nye, let them come hyther, & aske councell one at another, and shewe forth: What is he, that tolde this before? or who spake of it, euer sence the begynnynge? Haue not I the Lorde done it: wythout whom there is none other God? the true God and Sauioure, and there is els none but I?

⁹ Be glad, O thou desolate Ierusalem, and reioyce together, for the Lorde wyll comforte hys people, he wyll delyuer Ierusalem. ¹⁰ The Lorde wyl make bare hys holye arme, and shewe it forthe in the sight of al the Gentyls, & all the endes of the earthe shall se the sauing healthe of oure God.

¹¹ Beholde, the Lorde proclameth in the endes of the worlde: tell the doughter Syon: se, thy saluacyon commeth, beholde he bryngeth his treasure wyth hym, and hys worckes go before hym.

⁵ Beholde, the tyme commeth, sayeth the Lorde, that I will rayse vp the ryghtuous braunche of Dauid, which shall beare rule, and discusse matters wyth wysdome, & shall sett vp equyte & rightuousnes agayne in the earth. ⁶ In hys tyme shall Iuda be saued and Israell shall dwell without feare. And thys is the name that they shall call hym: euen the Lorde oure ryghtuous maker.

⁹ but they shall do seruyce vnto God their Lorde, and to Dauid theyr Kynge, whome I wyll rayse vp vnto them.

¹⁴ Geue thankes O doughter Syon, be ioyfull O Israell, reioyce and be glad from thy whole herte, O doughter Ierusalem, ¹⁵ for the Lorde hath taken awaye thy punyshemente, and turned backe thyne enemyes. The kynge of Israell, euen the Lorde hymselfe is with the: so that thou nedest no more to feare any mysfortune.

¹⁰ Be glad, and reioyce, O doughter of Sion: for lo, I am come to dwell in the myddeste of the, sayeth the Lord.

²¹ She shall bryngforth a sonne, & thou shalt cal his name Iesus. For he shal saue his people from their sins.

²⁹ Take my yocke on you and learne of me, for I am meke and lowly in herte: and ye shall fynde reste vnto your soules.

⁴ All this was done, to fulfill that whiche was spoken by the Prophet saying: ⁵ Tel ye the doughter of Sion: beholde thyne kyng cometh vnto the meke, and sitting vpon an Asse and a colte, the fote of an Asse vsed to the yooke. ⁶ The disciples went and did as Iesus commaunded them, ⁷ & brought the Asse and the colte, and put on theym theyr clothes, and set him thereon.

⁷ And they broughte the coolt to Iesus, and caste theyr garmentes on hym: & he sate vpon hym.

⁹ And they that before, & they that folowed, cryed, saying Hosanna: blessed be he that commeth in the name of the Lord. ¹⁰ Blessed be the kyngdome that commeth in the name of hym that is Lord of our father Dauid. Hosanna in the hyest.

³⁰ saiynge: Go ye into the toune whiche is ouer againste you, In the whiche assone as ye are come, ye shall fynde a colt tyed, whereon yet neuer man sate. Lewse him, and bring him hither. ³¹ And yf anye man axe you, why that ye lewse him: thus say vnto him: the Lorde hath nede of hym. ³² They that were sente, wente theyr waye, & founde as he had sayed vnto them. ³³ And as they were alewsynge the colte, the owners sayed vnto them: why lewse ye the colte? ³⁴ And they sayed: for the Lorde hath nede of hym. ³⁵ And they broughte hym to Iesus. And they caste theyr raymente on the colte, and set Iesus theron.

³⁷ And when he was nowe come, where he shoulde go doune from the mount Oliuete, the whole multitude of the discyples beganne to reioyce, and to laude God with a loude voyce for all the myracles that they had sene, ³⁸ saying: Blessed be the kyng that cometh in the name of the Lorde: peace in heauen, and glorye in the hyest.

⁴⁹ Nathanael aunswered & sayde vnto him: Rabbi, thou art the sonne of God, thou art the kynge of Israel.

¹³ toke braunches of palme trees, and went and met hym, and cryed: Hosanna, blessed is he that in the name of the Lorde cometh kynge of Israell. ¹⁴ And Iesus gotte a yong asse, and sate theron, accordynge to that which was wrytten, ¹⁵ feare not doughter of Syon, beholde thy kynge cometh, sittynge on an asses colte. ¹⁶ These thinges vnderstode not hys discyples at the fyrst: but when Iesus was glorifyed, then remembred they that suche thynges were written of him, and that suche thynges they had done vnto hym.

¹⁵ They cryed, awaye wyth hym, awaye with hym, crucifye hym. Pylate sayd to them: Shall I crucifye your kynge? The hye Priestes aunswered: we haue no king but Cesar.

²⁴ but are iustifyed frelye by hys grace thorowe the redempcion that is in Christe Iesus, ²⁵ whome God hath made a seate of mercye thorowe fayth in hys bloude, to shewe the rightuousnes whiche before hym is of valoure, in that he forgeueth the synnes that are passed, whiche God dyd suffer ²⁶ to shewe at thys time the ryghteousnes that is alowed of hym that he myghte be counted iuste, and iustifyar of hym which beleueth on Iesus.
