⁶ I will comforth the house of Iuda, and preserue the house of Ioseph. I wil turne them also, for I pitie them: & they shalbe lyke as they were, when I had not cast them of. For I the Lord am their God, and wil hear them.

²¹ My hande shal holde him fast, and myne arme shall strengthen hym.

¹ Bvt the Lorde wylbe mercyfull vnto Iacob, and wil take vp Israel agayne, and set them in their owne lande. Straungers shall cleaue vnto them, and get them to the house of Iacob.

¹⁰ be not afrayd, for I will be with the. Loke not behynde the, for I will be thy God, to strength the, helpe the, and to kepe the with this right hand of myne.

¹⁷ When the thyrstye & poore seke water and fynde none, and when their tonge is drye of thyrst: I geue it them sayth the Lorde. I the God of Israel forsake them not. ¹⁸ I bringe forth floudes in the hylle, and welles in the playne feldes. I turne the wildernes to riuers, & the drye lande to condythes of water. ¹⁹ I plante in the waste grounde trees of Cedre, Boxe, Myrre & Olyues. And in the drye I set Fyre trees, Elmes, and Hawthornes together. ²⁰ All thys do I, that they altogether may se & marcke, perceyue with their hertes & consydre, that the hande of the Lorde maketh these thinges, and that the holye one of Israel bringeth them to passe.

¹⁷ They that haue broken the doune, shall make haste to build the vp agayne: and they that made the waste, shall dwell in the. ¹⁸ Lyft vp thyne eyes, & loke aboute the: all these shall gather them together, and come to the. As truly as I lyue (saith the Lorde) thou shalte put them all vpon the, as an apparell, and gyrde them to the, as a bryde doth her Iewels. ¹⁹ As for thy lande that lyeth desolate, wasted & destroyed: it shalbe to narowe for them, that shall dwell in it. And they that wolde deuoure the, shalbe farre awaye. ²⁰ Then the childe whom the baren shal bringe forth vnto the, shall saye in thyne eare: thys place is to narowe, syt nye together, that I maye haue roume. ²¹ Then shalt thou thincke by thy self: Who hath begotten me these: seing I am baren & alone, a captyue & an oute cast? And who hath noryshed them vp for me? I am desolate and alone, but from whence come these?

¹⁸ Then those that be of the house of Iuda, shal go vnto the house of Israel, and they shal come together out of the North, into the same land, that I haue geuen youre fathers.

⁶ In hys tyme shall Iuda be saued and Israell shall dwell without feare. And thys is the name that they shall call hym: euen the Lorde oure ryghtuous maker.

¹⁸ For thus sayth the Lorde: Beholde, I will set vp Iacobs tentes agayne, and defende his dwellynge place. The cytye shalbe buylded in her olde estate, and the houses shall haue theyr ryghte foundacyon.

¹ At the same tyme (sayeth the Lorde) shall I be the God of all the generacions of Israel, and they shalbe my people.

²⁰ Vpon this complainte, I thoughte thus by my selfe: is not Ephraim my deare sonne? Is he not the chylde, with whom I haue had all myrthe and pastyme? For sence the tyme that I fyrst commened with him, I haue him euer in remembraunce: therfore my verye herte dryueth me vnto hym, gladly and louynglye will I haue mercy vpon him, sayth the Lorde.

³¹ Beholde, the dayes come (sayeth the Lord) that I wil make a newe couenaunt with the house of Israell & with the house of Iuda:

² Thus sayeth the Lorde, whiche fulfilleth the thynge that he speaketh, the Lorde whyche perfourmeth the thinge that he taketh in hand: euen he, whose name is the lord: ³ thou hast cryed vnto me, and I haue hearde the: I haue shewed greate and hye thinges, whiche were vnknowen vnto you.

¹¹ I wyll prouyde you wt moch people and catell, whiche shall increase & brynge fruite. I wil restore you also to your old estat & shewe you more kindnes then euer ye had before: wherby ye shal knowe, that I am the Lorde.

³⁷ Thus sayeth the Lorde God: I wyll yet ones be found agayne of the house of Israel & do this for them: I shall increase them as a flocke of men.

¹⁶ thou sonne of man, take a stycke and wryte vpon it: Vnto Iuda & to the chyldren of Israel his companyons. Then take another sticke, & write vpon it: Vnto Ioseph the stock of Ephraim, & to all the housholde of Israell his companyons.

²⁵ Therfore thus sayeth the Lorde God: Now wyll I brynge agayne the captiues of Iacob and haue mercy vpon the whole house of Israell, and be gelous for my holy names sake.

⁷ Neuerthelesse I wyll haue mercy vpon the house of Iuda, and will saue them, euen thorow the Lord their God. But I wyll not delyuer them thorowe anye bowe, swearde, battel, horses, or horsemen.

¹¹ Then shal the chyldren of Iuda & the children of Israel be gathered together again, & chose them selues one heade, and then depart oute of the lande: for great shalbe the daye of Israel.

²³ I will sowe them vpon earth, for a sede to mine owne selfe, & will haue mercye vpon her, that was without mercy. And to them, which were not my people, I wil say: thou arte my people: and he shal say: thou art my God.

¹⁸ Moreouer, the house of Iacob shalbe a fyre, the house of Ioseph a flame, & the house of Esau shalbe the strawe, whych they shall kyndle and consume, so that nothynge shalbe left of the house of Esau, for the Lorde hym self hath sayde it.

⁶ At the same tyme, sayeth the Lorde, wyll I gather vp the lame and the outcastes, and soche as I haue chastened:

¹³ Therfore get the vp, O thou doughter Sion, & throsshe out the corne: For I wyll make thy horne yron, and thy clawes brasse, that thou mayest grynde many people their goodes shalt thou appropriate vnto the Lorde, and their substaunce vnto the ruler of the whole worlde.

⁸ Yee the resydue of Iacob shalbe amonge the Gentyles and the multitude of people, as the lyon amonge the beastes of the wod, and as the Lyons whelpe amonge a flocke of shepe: whyche (when he goeth thorowe) treadeth downe, teareth in peces, and there is no man that can helpe.

¹⁶ This shall the heathen se, and be ashamed for all theyr power, so that they shal laye theyr hande vpon theyr mouthe, and stoppe theyr eares.

¹⁸ Where is there such a God as thou? that pardonest wickednes, and forgeuest the offences of the remnaunte of thyne herytage? He kepeth not hys wrath for euer. And why? his delyte is to haue compassyon: ¹⁹ he shal turne agayne, and be mercyfull to vs: he shall put doune oure wyckednesses, and caste all oure synnes into the botome of the sea. ²⁰ Thou shalt kepe thy truste wyth Iacob, and thy mercye for Abraham, lyke as thou haste sworne vnto oure fathers longe agoo.

¹⁹ And lo, in that tyme wyll I destroye all those that vexe the: I wyl helpe the lame, and gather vp the caste awaye: yea I wil get them prayse and honoure in all landes, where they haue bene put to shame, ²⁰ At the same time wyll I brynge you in, and at the same tyme wyll I gather you. I wyll get you a name and a good reporte amonge al people of the earthe, when I turne back youre captyuyte before youre eyes, sayeth the Lorde.

⁷ Thus sayeth the Lord of hostes: Behold, I wil delyuer my people from the land of the east & west, ⁸ and will bringe them againe, that they maye dwell at Ierusalem. Then shalbe my people and I wilbe their God, in trueth & righteousnesse.

¹¹ Neuerthelesse I wil now entreate the resydue of this people no more as for a time, sayeth the Lord of Hostes,

¹² I will comforte them in the Lord, that they maye walcke in his name, sayeth the Lorde.

⁹ And the same thyrd part wil I bring thorow the fyre, & wil clense them, as the siluer is clensed: yea, & try them like as gold is tryed. Then shall they call vpon my name and I wyll heare them: I wyl saye: it is my people. And they shal say: Lorde my God.

²⁵ I woulde not that thys secrete shoulde be hyd from you my brethren (leste ye should be wyse in youre owne conceptes) that partelye blyndenes is happened in Israell, vntyll the fulnes of the gentyls be come in: ²⁶ and so al Israel shalbe saued. As it is wrytten: There shal come oute of Syon he that doeth delyuer, and shall turne away the vngodlynes of Iacob.
