⁴ Eyther despysest thou the riches of hys goodnes, pacience and longe sufferaunce? and remembreste not howe that the kindnes of God leadeth the to repentaunce?

⁶ And when the Lord walked before him, he cried: Lord Lord God full of compassion and mercy, which are not lightly angry but abundaunt in mercy and truth,

¹⁸ the Lord is longe year he be angrye, and ful of mercy, and suffereth synne and trespace, and leaueth no man innocent, and vysyteth the vnrighteousnesse of the fathers vpon the chyldren, euen vpon the thyrd and fourth generacion,

²⁷ Suche a respecte hath he vnto men. Therfore let a man confesse (and saye) I offended, but he hath chastened and reformed me: I dyd vnryghteouslye, neuerthelesse he hath not recompensed me thereafter. ²⁸ Yea he hath delyuered my soule from destruccyon, and my lyfe, that it seeth the lyght. ²⁹ Lo, thus worcketh God alwaye wyth man, ³⁰ that he kepeth hys soule from peryshynge, and letteth hym enioye the lyghte of the lyuyng.

¹¹ For he sayeth in hys herte: Tushe, God hath forgotten, he hath turned awaye hys face, so that he wyll neuer se it.

³⁸ But he was so mercifull, that he forgaue their misdedes, and destroyed them not. Yea, many a tyme turned he hys wrathe awaye, and wolde not suffre hys whole dyspleasure to aryse.

⁵ For thou Lorde arte good and gracyous, and of greate mercye vnto all them that call vpon the.

¹⁵ But thou, O Lord God, art ful of compassion, and mercy, long suffring, great in goodnes and truth.

²⁴ O Lord, how manifolde are thy workes, right wisely hast thou made them al: yea, the earth is full of thy ryches.

³ If thou Lorde wylte be extreme to marke what is done amysse. Oh Lord who may abide it? ⁴ But ther is mercy wyth the, that thou maiest be feared.

¹¹ Because now that euell worckes are not hastely punyshed the herte of man geueth hym selfe ouer vnto wyckednesse.

¹⁸ Yet standeth the Lorde waytynge, that he maye haue mercye vpon you, and lyfteth hym selfe vp, that he maye receyue you to grace. For the Lorde God is ryghtuous. Happy are all they that wayte for him.

⁷ I wyl declare the goodnesse of the Lorde, yea and the prayse of the Lorde for all that he hath geuen vs, for the great good that he hath done for Israel: whyche he hath geuen them of hys owne fauoure, and accordynge to the multytude of hys louynge kyndnesses. ⁸ For he sayde: These no doute wylbe my people and no shrynkynge chyldren, and so he was their sauyoure. ⁹ In their troubles he forsoke them not, but the aungel that went forthe from his presence delyuered them. Of very loue & kindnesse that he had vnto them, redemed he them. He hath borne them, and caryed them vp euer, sence the worlde beganne. ¹⁰ But after they prouoked hym to wrath, and vexed hys holy mynd, he was their enemye, and fought against them him selfe.

¹² and therfore go preache these wordes towarde the North, and saye: Thou shrenkinge Israel, turne agayne (sayeth the Lord) and I wyll not turne my face from you, for I am mercyfull, sayeth the Lorde, and I will not alwaye beare displeasure agaynste the: ¹³ but on this condicion, that thou knowe thy greate blasphemy: Namely, that thou haste vnfaithful forsaken the Lorde thy God, and hast made thy selfe partaker of straung goddes vnder all grene trees, but hast had no wil to heare my voyce, sayeth the Lorde.

²² O ye shrinkynge chyldren, turne agayne, (sayinge: lo, we are thyne, for thou arte the Lorde oure God:) And so shall I heale your bacturnynges. ²³ The hylles fal, and al the hye pryde of the mountaynes, but the healthe of Israel standeth onely vpon God oure Lorde.

¹⁰ Then come ye, and stande before me in thys house, whiche hath my name geuen vnto it and say: Tush, we are absolued quite, though we haue done all these abhominacions.

²² Thou sonne of man, what maner of byworde is that, whiche ye vse in the lande of Israel, sayinge: Thus, seynge that the dayes are so slacke in commynge, all the visyons are of none effecte: ²³ Tell them therfore: thus sayth the Lorde God: I wil make that by worde to ceasse, so that it shal no more be commonlye vsed in Israel. But saye this vnto them: The dayes are at hande, that euery thinge whiche hath bene prophecyed, shalbe fulfylled.

⁶³ that thou mayest thyncke vpon it, be ashamed, and excuse thine owne confusyon no more: when I haue forgeuen the, all that thou hast done, sayeth the Lorde God.

⁵ But afterwarde shall the children of Israell conuerte, and seke the Lorde their God: and Dauid their kinge: & in the latter dayes, they shall worshyppe the Lorde, and hys louynge kindnesse.

² And he prayed vnto the Lord, & sayde: O Lord was not thys my sayinge (I praye the) when I was yet in my countre? therfore I hasted rather to fle vnto Tharsis, for I know well ynough that thou art a mercyfull God, full of compassion, long sufferyng, & of a great kyndnesse, & repentest when thou shuldest take punishment.

⁴⁸ But and if that euyll seruaunt shall saye in his herte, my maister wyll defer hys commynge, ⁴⁹ and begynne to smyte his felowes, yea, and to eate and to drinke with the dronken:

¹⁷ Then he came to hym selfe, and sayed: Howe many hyred seruauntes at my fathers haue breade ynough, and I dye for honger, ¹⁸ I wyll aryse, and go to my father, and will say vnto hym: father I haue synned agaynst heauen and before the, ¹⁹ and am no more worthye to be called thy sonne, make me as one of thy hyred seruauntes.

⁵ And when Iesu came to the place, he loked vp and sawe hym, and sayed vnto hym: Zache, attonce come doune, for to daye I must abyde at thy house. ⁶ And he came doune hastelye & receyued hym ioyfullye. ⁷ And when they sawe that, they al groundged saiyng: He is gone into tarye with a man that is a synner. ⁸ And Zache stode forthe and sayed vnto the Lord, beholde Lord, the haulfe of my goodes I geue to the pore, and yf I haue done anye man wronge, I wyl restore hym foure folde:

²⁵ whome God hath made a seate of mercye thorowe fayth in hys bloude, to shewe the rightuousnes whiche before hym is of valoure, in that he forgeueth the synnes that are passed, whiche God dyd suffer

¹ What shall we saye then? Shal we continue in synne, that there maye be aboundaunce of grace?

¹⁵ What then? Shall we synne, because we are not vnder the lawe: but vnder grace? God forbyd.

²² Euen so God wyllynge to shewe his wrath, and to make his power knowen, suffered wyth longe pacience the vessels of wrath, ordeined to damnacion, ²³ that he myght declare the riches of his glory on the vesseles of mercye, whiche he had prepared vnto glorye:

¹² There is no difference betwene the Iewe, & the gentyll. For one is Lorde of all whiche is ryche vnto all that call on hym.

²² Beholde the kyndnes and rigorousnes of God on them which fell, rygorousnes: but towardes the kyndnes, yf thou contynue in hys kyndnes. Or els thou shalte be hewen of,

³³ O the deapnes of the abundaunte wysedome and knoweledge of God: howe vnsearcheable are his iudgementes, and hys wayes paste fyndynge out?

⁷ By whome we haue redemption thorowe hys bloude, euen the forgeuenes of synnes accordyng to the ryches of hys grace

¹⁸ and lyghten the eyes of youre myndes that ye myght knowe what that hope is, where vnto he hath called you, and what the ryches of hys gloryous inheritaunce is vpon the saynctes,

⁴ But God whiche is ryche in mercye thorow his great loue wherewith he loued vs,

⁷ for to shewe in tymes to come the excedinge riches of hys grace in kyndnes to vswarde in Christe Iesus.

⁸ Vnto me the leaste of all sainctes is this grace geuen, that I shoulde preache amonge the Gentyls the vnsearcheable ryches of Christe,

¹⁶ that he woulde graunt you accordinge to the ryches of his glorie, that ye maye be strengthed wyth mighte by his spirite in the inner man,

¹⁹ My God fulfill youre nedes thorowe hys gloriouse ryches in Iesus Christ.

²⁷ to whom God woulde make knowen the glorious riches of this misterye amonge the Gentyls, whiche ryches is Christ, in you the hope of glorye,

² that their hertes mighte be comforted and knit together in loue, and in all riches of full vnderstandinge for to knowe the mystery of God the father and of Christe,

¹⁶ Not wythstandyng for this cause was mercye geuen vnto me that Iesus christ shoulde fyrste shewe on me all longe pacience vnto the ensample of them whiche shal in tyme to come beleue on hym vnto eternall lyfe.

¹⁷ Charge them that are ryche in this worlde shal they be not exceadyng wyse, and that they truste not in the vncertayne ryches, but in the lyuyng God, which geueth vs aboundauntly al thynges to enioy them,

⁴ But after that the kyndnes and loue of our sauyoure God to man warde appered, ⁵ not of the dedes of rightuousnes, which we wrought but of hys mercy he saued vs, by the fountayne of the newe byrth, & with the renuyng of the holye ghost, ⁶ which he shed on vs aboundauntly, thorowe Iesus Christe oure sauyoure,

²⁰ which were in tyme passed disobedient, when the longe sufferinge of God abode excedinge paciently in the dayes of Noe, whyle the arcke was a preparing wherin fewe (that is to saie .viij. soules) were saued by water,

³ This fyrst vnderstande, that there shall come in the laste dayes mockers, which wyll walke after their own lustes

⁹ The Lord is not slacke to fulfyl hys promyse, as some men count slaknes, but is patient to vsward and would haue no man loste, but would receyue al men to repentaunce.

¹⁵ And suppose that the longe suffering of the Lord is saluacion, euen as oure dearlye beloued brother Paule accordinge to the wysdome geuen to hym wrote vnto you,

²⁰ Behold I stande at the dore and knocke. Yf anye man heare my voice and open the dore. I wil come in vnto him, and will suppe with him, and he wyth me.
