¹ And the fyfte Angel blewe, and I sawe a starre fall from heauen vnto the earth, And to hym was geuen the keye of the bottomlesse pyt. ² And he opened the bottomlesse pyt, and there arose the smoke of a great fornace. And the sunne, and the ayer were darkened by the reason of the smoke of the pytt. ³ And there came out of the smoke locustes vpon the earth, and vnto them was geuen power as the Scorpions of the earth haue power. ⁴ And it was commaunded them, that they should not hurt the grasse of the earth, neyther any grene thinge, neither any tree, but onely those men which haue not the seale in their foreheades, ⁵ and to them was commaunded that they should not kyll them, but that they should be vexed fyue monethes, and theyr payne was as the payne that commeth of a scorpion, when he hath stonge a man. ⁶ And in those dayes shal men seke death, and shal not finde it, and shall desyre to dye, and death shal flye from them. ⁷ And the similitude of the locustes was lyke vnto horsses prepared vnto battayl, and on theyr heades were as it were crounes, lyke vnto gold and their faces were as it had bene the faces of men. ⁸ And they had heere as the heere of women. And theyr teeth were as the teeth of Lyons. ⁹ And they had habbergions, as it were habbergyons of Iron. And the sounde of theyr wynges, was as the sounde of charettes, when many horsses runne together to battayle. ¹⁰ And they had tayles lyke vnto Scorpyons, and there were stynges in theyr tayles. And their power was to hurte men fyue monethes. ¹¹ And they had a kynge ouer them, whych is the angel of the bottomlesse pyt, whose name in the Hebrue tonge, is Abodon, but in the Greke tonge, Appollion. ¹² One wo is paste, and behold two woes come after thys. ¹³ And the syxte angel blewe, and I hearde a voyce from the .iiij. corners of the golden aultare, which is before God, ¹⁴ sayinge to the syxte angel, which had the trompe, louse the .iiij. angelles, whyche are bounde in the great riuer Euphrates. ¹⁵ And the .iiij. angels were loused, whyche were prepared for an houre, for a daye, for a moneth, and for an yere, for to slea the thyrd parte of men. ¹⁶ And the number of horsmen of warre, were twenty tymes ten thousand. And I heard the numbre of them. ¹⁷ And thus I sawe the horsses in a vision, and them that sate on them hauynge fyry habbergions of a Iacinct colour, and brimstone, and the heades of the horsses were as the heades of Lyons. And out of their mouthes wente forth fyre and smoke, and brymstone. ¹⁸ And of these .iij. was the thirde parte of men kylled, that is to say, of fyre, smoke, and brymstone, whych proceded out of the mouthes of them. ¹⁹ For theyr power was in their mouthes and in theyr tayles, for theyr tayles were lyke vnto serpentes, and had heades, and wyth them they dyd hurt. ²⁰ And the remnaunt of the men which were not kylled by these plages, repented not of the dedes of their handes, that they should not worship deuyls, and Images of gold, and syluer, and brasse, and stone, and of wood, whych neyther can se, neyther heare, neyther go. ²¹ Also they repented not of theyr murther, and of theyr sorcery, neyther of their fornicacion, neither of their thefte.

¹⁴ And the name of the thyrde ryuer is Hydekell, whyche runneth on the easte syde of the Assyrians. And the fourth ryuer is Euphrates.

¹⁷ When the sonne was downe and it was waxed darcke: beholde, ther was a smokyng furnesse, and a fyrebrand that went betwene the sayde peces.

²⁴ Than the Lorde rayned vpon Sodome and Gomorra, brymstone and fyre from the Lord out of heauen,

²⁸ and loked toward Sodome and Gomorra and towarde all the lande of that contre. And as he loked: behold the smoke of the countre arose as it had bene the smoke of a fornace.

⁴ If thou wylt not lette my people go: beholde, to morrowe wyll I brynge greshoppers into thy lande, ⁵ and they shall couer the face of the earth that it can not be seene, and they shal eate the residue whiche remayneth vnto you and escaped the hayle: and they shall eate all youre grene trees vppon the feilde, ⁶ and they shall fyll thy houses, and all thy seruauntes houses, & the houses of al the Egyptyans after suche a maner: as nether thy fathers nor thi fathers fathers haue sene sence the tyme they were vpon the earth vnto thys day. And he turned him selfe about, and went out from Pharao. ⁷ And Pharaos seruauntes said vnto him: How long shal we be thus euyll entreated? Lette the men goo that they maye serue the Lord theyr God: wylte thou not yet knowe that Egypt is destroyed? ⁸ And then Moyses and Aaron were brought againe vnto Pharao, and he sayed vnto them: Goo and serue the Lorde youre God, but who are they that shall go? ⁹ And Moyses answered: we wyll go with yonge and olde: yea, & with our sonnes and with our daughters, and wyth our shepe & oxen must we go. For we must hold a feast vnto the Lorde. ¹⁰ And he sayd vnto them: let it be so? The Lorde be wyth you, should I lette you goo, and your chyldren also? Take hede, for ye haue some myschiefe in hande, ¹¹ Nay not so: but go ye that are men and serue the Lorde, for that was your desyre. And they thruste them out of Pharaos presence. ¹² And the Lord sayd vnto Moses: Stretch out thyne hande ouer the Lande of Egypte, for greshoppers, that they come vppon the Land of Egypt and eat all the herbes of the lande, and al that the hayle lefte vntouched. ¹³ And Moses stretched forth his rod ouer the Lande of Egypt, and the Lorde brought an east wynd vpon the Land, all that daye and all nyghte. And in the mornynge the Easte wynde brought the Greshoppers, ¹⁴ and the greshoppers wente vp ouer all the Land of Egypt and lyghted in all quarters of Egypte verye greuouslye: so that before theym were there no suche greshoppers, neither after them shal be. ¹⁵ And they couered all the face of the earth, so that the land was darke therwyth. And they ate all the herbes of the land and all the fruites of the trees whyche the haile had left: so that there was no grene thynge left in the trees & herbes of the felde, thorow all the land of Egypte.

²¹ And the Lord sayd vnto Moses: Stretch out thy hand vnto heauen, & let ther be darcknesse vpon the land of Egypt: euen that they may fele the darckenes. ²² And Moyses stretched forth hys hand vnto heauen, & ther was a thycke darckenes vpon al the land of Egipt .iij. dayes long, ²³ so that no man sawe another neither rose vp from the place wher he was by the space of .iij. dayes, but al the chyldren of Israel had light wher they dwelled.

²³ For the Lord wyll goo aboute & smyte Egipte. And when he seyth the bloud vpon the vpper door poste & on the two syde postes, he wyl passe ouer the doore, & wyll not suffre the destroyer to come in to youre house to plage you.

¹⁸ And mounte Sinai was altogether on a smoke: because the Lorde descended doune vpon it in fyre. And the smoke therof ascended vp, as it had bene the smoke of a kylle, & all the mount was exceadyng fearfull.

² a cubite long, and a cubyte brode, euen fouresquare shal it be: and two cubytes hie, wyth hornes procedinge oute of it, ³ and thou shalt ouerlay it wt fine gold, both the roffe and the walles round about, and his hornes also, & shalt make vnto it a crowne of gold round about

⁷ And let them no moare offer theyr offerynges vnto deuyls, after whom they goo an whooryng. And thys shalbe an ordynance for euer vnto you thorow out youre generacyons.

¹⁵ & which ledde the in the wildernesse boeth great and terrible wyth fyry serpentes and scorpions and drought where was no water which brought the water oute of the rocke of flint:

²⁹ For I am sure that after my death, they wil vtterly marre them selues, and turne from the way which I commaunded you, & tribulation wyl come vpon you in the later daies, when ye haue wrought wyckednes in the syght of the Lorde to prouoke hym wyth the worckes of your handes.

¹⁷ They offered vnto felde deuils and not to God, & to Gods whych they knewe not, & to newe Gods that came newly vp which theyr fathers feared not.

¹² And the Madianites, the Amalekites, and all they of the east, laye a long in the valeye, lyke vnto greshopers in multitude & theyr camelles were wythout nombre, euen as the sande by the sea syde in multitude.

⁹ And he sayde vnto me: come on me & slee me: For anguyshe is come vpon me, and my lyfe is yet all in me.

³ Dauid smote also Adadezer the sonne of Rehob kynge of Zobah as he went to make the ende of hys coastes at the ryuer Euphrates.

¹¹ And nowe where my father put a greuouse youcke vpon you, I wyll make it heauyer. For where my father corrected you wt scourges, I wil chastyse you wt scorpions.

³⁰ And when Iehu was come to Iesrahel, Iezabell hearde of it, and starched her eyes, & tyred her head, & loked oute at a wyndowe.

¹⁷ because they haue forsaken me, and haue burntofferynges vnto other Goddes, to angre me with all the workes of their handes. Therfore is my wrath kendled agaynst thys place, and shall not be quenched.

⁸ And of the Gadites there separated them selues vnto Dauid when he kept an holde in the wildernesse, men of myghte and men apte for warre and coulde handle shylde & speare, whose faces were lyke the faces of Lyons, and they were therto as swifte as the Rooes of the mountaynes:

²² And therto in the very tyme of hys tribulacion dyd kynge Ahaz trespace yet moare agaynst the Lorde.

²⁵ because they haue forsaken me and haue offered vnto other Gods to angre me with all maner worckes of theyre handes, therfore is my wrath set on fyre agaynst thys place & shall not be quenched.

¹⁰ hast thou not preserued him, his house, and all hys substaunce on euery syde? hast thou not blessed the worckes of his handes? Is not his possessyon encreased in the lande?

¹² And the Lorde sayd vnto Sathan: lo all that he hath, be in thy power: only vpon hym self se that thou laye not thyne hande. Then went Sathan forth from the Lorde.

⁶ Then sayde the Lorde vnto Sathan: lo, there hast thou hym in thy power, but spare his lyfe.

²⁰ Wherfore is the lyght geuen to hym that is in miserye? and lyfe vnto them, that haue heuy hertes? ²¹ Whyche longe for death, yf it come not: and search for it more then for treasure ²² which also would be exceding glad, & reioyce yf they found their graue.

¹⁵ that my soule wyssheth rather to be strangled, and my bones to be deed. ¹⁶ I can se no remedy, I shall loue nomore: O spare me then, for my dayes are but vayne

⁶ yea & all they which dwell beneth in the hell are not hid from him, and the very destruccion it selfe can not be kepte oute of his sighte.

²⁵ but as sone as he heareth the shawmes blow, thushe (sayth he) for he smelleth the battell a farre of, the noyse, the Captaynes and the shoutynge.

¹⁸ His shynnes are lyke pypes of brasse, hys rygge bones are lyke staues of yron.

²³ The membres of his body are ioyned so strait one to another, and cleue so fast together, that he can not be moued. ²⁴ His hert is as herde as a stone, & as faste as the stithye that the hammer man smyteth vpon. ²⁵ When he goeth, the myghtiest of al are afrayed, & the waues heauy. ²⁶ If he drawe out the swearde, there maye neyther speare nor brest plate, abyde hym ²⁷ He setteth as much by a strawe as by yron, and as muche by a rotten stocke as by metall. ²⁸ He starteth not away for hym that bendeth the bowe: & as for slynge stones, he careth as muche for stubble as for them. ²⁹ He counteth the hammer no better then a strawe, he laugheth hym to scorne that shaketh the speare. ³⁰ He treadeth the golde in the myre lyke the sharpe potsherdes.

⁶ Vpon the vngodly he shall rayne snares, fyre, brymstone, storme and tempest: thys rewarde shall they haue to drynke.

⁴ I lye wyth my soule among the cruel lions euen among the chyldren of men, whose teeth are speares and arrowes, and their tonge a sherpe sweard.

¹⁷ The charettes of God are many .M. tymes thousande, the Lorde is among them in the holy Sinai.

¹⁰ When thou punyshest one man, he muste knowledge that thou arte readye to punyshe other mo.

³⁷ Yea they offred their sons and their daughters vnto deuels.

⁴ Their ymages are but syluer and gold, euen the worke of mens handes. ⁵ They haue mouthes, and speake not: eies haue they, but they se not. ⁶ Thei haue eares, and heare not: noses haue they, but they smell not. ⁷ They haue handes, and handle not, fete haue they, but they cannot goo, neyther can they speake thorow their throte. ⁸ They that made them, are lyke vnto them and so are all suche as put theyr truste in them.

¹⁵ As for the ymages of the Heathen, they are but siluer and golde, the worcke of mens handes. ¹⁶ They haue mouthes, and speake not: eyes haue they, but they se not. ¹⁷ They haue eares, and yet they heare not, neyther is ther any breath in their mouthes. ¹⁸ They that make them, are lyke vnto them, and so are all they that put their trust in them.

⁸ Immediatlye was it full of Idols also, euen workes of youre owne handes, which ye youre selues haue fashyoned, & your syngers haue made.

¹⁹ Men shall crepe into holes of stone, and into caues of the earthe, from the syghte of the fearfull iudge, and from the glorye of hys magesty: what tyme as he shall make hym vp to shake the earthe.

²⁴ And in steade of good smell there shalbe styncke amonge them. And for theyr gyrdles there shalbe louse bandes. And for well set hearre there shalbe baldnesse. In steade of a stomacker, a sackclothe, and for theyr bewtye wytherydnesse & sunneburninge.

²⁸ Theyr arowes are sharpe, and theyr bowes bent. Their horse hoofes are lyke flynt, & theyr cartwheles lyke a stormy wynde. ²⁹ Theyr crye is as it were of a lyon, and the roarynge of them lyke lyons whelpes. They shal roare and hantch vp the praye, and no man shal recouer it, or get it from them.

⁵ Moreouer all temerariours and sedicious power (yea where there is but a cote fylled with bloude) shalbe burnt, and fede the fyre.

¹⁵ By the heade, is vnderstande the Senatoure and honorable man, and by the tayle, the Prophet that preacheth lyes.

¹² How art thou fallen from heauen (O Lucifer) thou faire mornyng childe? hast thou gotten a fal euen to the ground, thou that (not withstanding) diddest subdue the people.

³¹ Mourne ye portes, wepe ye cities, and feare thou (O whole Palestina) for there shall come from the North a smoke, whose power noman may abyde.

³³ For he hath prepared the fyre of payne from the begynnynge, yea euen for Kynges also. This hath he made depe & wyde, the noryshing thereof is fyre & woode innumerable, whiche the breathe of the Lorde kyndleth, as it were a matche of brymstone.

⁴ and that theyr spoyle maye be gathered, as the gresshoppers are comonly gathered together into the pyt.

¹⁹ Shall the caruer make hym carued ymage? and shall the goldsmyth couer hym with golde, or cast hym in to a fourme of syluer plates? ²⁰ Moreouer shall the ymage maker (that the poore man whyche is dysposed, maye haue some thynge to set vp also) seke out & chose a tree, that is not rotten, and came therout an ymage, that moueth not?

⁷ The Smyth conforted the moulder, and the Ironsmyth the hammerman, sayenge: It shalbe good, that we fasten this cast worcke: and then they fastened it with nayles, that it shulde not be moued.

¹⁷ And therfore let them conuerte, and be ashamed earnestlye, that hope in Idoles, and saye to fashyoned ymages: ye are oure godes. ¹⁸ Heare, O ye deaf men, and sharpen youre sightes to se (O ye blynde.)

⁹ Wherfore all caruers of Idoles are but vayne, & their labour lost. They must beare recorde them selues, that (seyng they came nether se ner vnderstande) they shalbe confounded. ¹⁰ Who shulde now make a God, or fashion an Idole, that is profytable for nothynge? ¹¹ Beholde, all the felowshyppe of them must be brought to confusyon. Let all the worckmaisters of them come and stande together from amonge men: they must be abashed and confounded one with another. ¹² The smith taketh yron, and tempereth it with hoate coales, and fashyoneth it with hammers, and maketh it with all the strength of his armes: yee sometyme he is faynt for very hunger, & so thurstye, that he hath no more power. ¹³ The carpenter, (or ymage caruer) taketh meat of the tymbre: & spredeth forth hys lyne: he maketh it with some coloure: he playneth it, he ruleth it, & squareth it, & maketh it after the ymage of a man, and accordynge to the bewtye of a man: that it maye stande in the temple. ¹⁴ Moreouer, he goeth oute to hewe downe Cedre trees: He bryngeth home Elmes and Okes, and other tymbre of the wod. Or els the Fyrre trees which he planted hym self, & soch as the rayne hath swelled, ¹⁵ whyche wod serueth for men to burne. Of this he taketh and warmeth him selfe with all: he maketh a fyre of it to bake bred. And afterwarde maketh a God there of, to honoure it: & an Idole to knele before it. ¹⁶ One pece he burneth in the fyre, with another he rosteth flesh, that he maye eate roste hys bely full: wyth the thyrde he warmeth hym self, & sayeth: Aha, I am well warmed, I haue bene at the fyre. ¹⁷ And of the resydue he maketh hym a God, and an Idole for hym selfe. He kneleth before it, he worshyppeth it, he prayeth vnto it, and sayeth: deliuer me, for thou art my God. ¹⁸ Yet men nether considre ner vnderstande, because their eyes are stopped, that they can not se: and their hertes, that they cannot perceyue. ¹⁹ They pondre not in their myndes, for they haue nether knowledge ner vnderstandyng, to thyncke thus: I haue brent one pece in the fyre: I haue baked bred with the coles there of, I haue rosted flesh with all, & eaten it: shall I now of the resydue make an abhomynacyon, & fall downe before a rotten pece of wodd? ²⁰ The kepyng of dust, and folishnesse of herte hath turned them asyde: so that none of them can haue a fre conscience to thyncke maye not I erre?

⁵ Whom wyll ye make me lyke, in fashion or ymage, that I maye be lyke him? ⁶ Ye fooles (no doute) wyll take out syluer & golde oute of youre purses, and weye it, and hyre a gold smith to make a God of it, that men maye knele downe & worshippe it. ⁷ Yet muste he be taken on mens shoulders & borne, & set in hys place that he maye stande and not moue. Alas that men shulde crye vnto hym, which geueth no answere: and delyuereth not the man that calleth vpon hym, from hys trouble.

⁹ And yet both these thinges shall come to the vpon one daye in the twyncklyng of an eye: Namely wyddowhead, & desolacyon. They shall mightely fall vpon the, for the multitude of thy witches, & for the greate heape of thy coniurers.

¹² Now go to thy coniurers, and to the multitude of thy witches (whom thou haste bene acquainted withall from thy youthe) yf they maye helpe the, or strengthen the.

³ Come hyther therfore ye charmers children, ye sonnes of the aduoutrer & the whore:

¹⁶ And thorowe them shall I declare my iudgement, vpon all the wyckednesse of those men that haue forsaken me: that haue offered vnto straunge Goddes, and worshipped the workes of their owne handes.

³ Where as thou (O Lorde) lokest only vpon faythe and truthe. Thou hast scourged them, but they toke no repentaunce: thou hast correcte them for amendement, but they refused thy correccion. They made their faces harder then a stone, and woulde not amende.

³ And all they that remayne of thys wycked generacyon, shall desyre rather to dye then to lyue: wheresoeuer they remayne, & where as I scatre them, sayth the Lorde of hoostes. ⁴ This shalte thou saye vnto them also: Thus sayeth the Lorde: Do men fall so, that they aryse not vp agayne? And turne they so farre awaye, that they neuer conuerte? ⁵ Wherfore then is this people and Ierusalem gone to farre backe, that they turne not agayne. They are euer the longer the more obstynate, & wyl not be conuerted. ⁶ For I haue loked, & consydered: but there is no man that speaketh a good worde: there is no man that taketh repentaunce for hys synne, that wyll so muche as saye: wherfore haue I done thys? But euerye man (as sone as he is turned backe) runneth forth styl, lyke a wylde horse in a battayle.

³ yea all the customes and lawes of the Gentiles are nothinge, but vanite. They hewe doune a tree in the wood with the handes of the worcke man, and fashyon it with the axe: ⁴ they couer it ouer with gold or siluer, they fasten it with nayles and hammers, that it moue not. ⁵ It standeth as styfe as the palmetree, it can not neyther speake nor go, but must be borne. Be not ye afrayed of suche, for they can do neyther good nor euill.

⁸ They are all together vnlearned and vnwyse. All theyr conninge is but vanyte: ⁹ namelye, woode, syluer, whiche is brought oute of Tharsis, and beaten to plates: and golde from Ophir, a worcke that is made with the hande of the craftesmen and the caster, clothed with yelowe sylcke & scarlet: euen so is the worcke of theyr wyse men altogether.

¹⁴ Hys wysdom maketh all men fooles. And confounded be all casters of ymages, for that they cast, is but a vayne thynge, and hath no lyfe. ¹⁵ The vayne craftesmen with theyr worckes, that they in theyr vanite haue made, shall peryshe one with another in the tyme of vysitacyon.

¹⁹ Vpon these wordes, thus sayde the Lorde vnto me: If thou wylt turne agayne, I shall set the in my seruyce: and yf thou wylt take out the thynge that is precious from the vile, thou shalt be euen as myne owne mouth. They shall conuerte vnto the, but turne not thou vnto them: ²⁰ & so shall I make the a stronge wall of stele agaynst this people. They shall fyght agaynst the, but they shall not preuayle. For I my selfe will be with the, to helpe the, and delyuer the, sayeth the Lorde.

⁶ And go not after straunge goddes serue them not, worshipe them not, and angre me not wyth the worckes of youre handes: then wyll not I punish you.

⁸ because ye prouoke me vnto wrath wyth the worckes of your owne handes: when ye offre vnto straung Goddes in the lande of Egipte, where as ye be gone to dwel. That ye myght vtterly peryshe, and that ye myght be reuyled and shamefully intreated of all nacyons.

¹⁷ By the reason of wysdome, all men are become fooles. Confounded be all the casters of ymages for the thynge that they make is but disceyte, and hath no breath.

⁶³ and when thou hast redde out the boke, bynde a stone to it, and cast it in the myddest of Euphrates,

⁶ Therfore (thou sonne of man) feare them not, nether be afrayed of their wordes: for they shall rebell agaynst the, and despyse the. Yee thou shalt dwell amonge scorpions: but feare not their wordes, be not abashed at their lokes, for it is a frowarde housholde.

⁴ and the Lorde sayde vnto hym: Go thy waye thorow the cytie of Ierusalem, and set thys marcke Than vpon the foreheades of them, that mourne & are sory for all the abhomynacyons, that be done therin.

⁶ kyl and destroye bothe olde men and yonge, maydens, chyldren, and wyues. But as for those, that haue thys marcke Than vpon them: se that ye touche them not, & begynne at my sanctuarye. Then they began at the elders, whiche were in the temple,

⁶ whiche had to do with her: euen the princes & lordes, that were deckte in costly araye: fayre younge men, lusty riders of horses.

²² Now the hande of the Lorde had bene vpon me the euenyng afore this man (which was escaped) came vnto me, & had opened my mouth, vntyll the mornynge that he came to me: yee he opened my mouth, so that I was nomore domme.

⁴ and wil turne the about, and put a bytte in thy chawes: I will bringe the forth & all thine hoost, both horse and horsemen whiche be all weapened of the beste fashion: a great people, that handle altogether speares, shyldes, and swerdes:

¹⁸ O kynge, God the hyest gaue vnto Nabuchodonosor thy father, the dignite of a kynge with worshippe and honoure, ¹⁹ so that al people, kynredes and tunge stode in awe & feare of him, by reason of the hye estate, that he had lente him. For why, he slewe whom he wold: he smote, whom it pleased hym. Agayne, whom he wolde, he set vp: and whome he lyst, he put doune. ²⁰ But because hys herte was so proude, and hys stomacke set so fast vnto wilfulnesse: he was deposed from hys kingly trone, & his magesty was taken from hym. ²¹ He was shote oute from amonge men, his herte was lyke a beastes herte, and hys dwellynge was wyth the wylde asses: he was fayne to eate grasse lyke an oxe, and hys body was wet with the dewe of the heauen: tyll he knewe, that the hyest had power vpon the kingdomes of men, and setteth ouer them, whome he lyst. ²² And thou hys sonne (O Balthazar) for al this, hast not submytted thyne herte, thoughe thou knewest all these thynges, ²³ but hast magnyfyed thy selfe aboue the Lorde of heauen, so that the vessels of hys house were broughte before the, that thou, and thy Lordes, with thy quene and concubynes, myght drincke wyne thereoute: And hast praysed the Idoles of syluer and golde, copper and yron, of wode and stone: As for the God in whose hande consysteth thy breth and all thy wayes: thou haste not loaued hym.

⁴ The fyrste was a lion, and yet had he Aegles winges. I sawe, that hys wynges were plucte from him, and he taken awaye from the earth: that he stode vpon hys fete as a man, and that there was geuen him a mans herte.

⁶ Then I loked, and beholde, there was another lyke vnto a leoparde: thys had wynges as a foule, euen four vpon the backe. This beaste had foure heades, and there was power geuen him.

²⁰ And the beast was taken, & with hym that false prophete that wrought miracles before him with which he deceyued them that receiued the beastes marke, & them that worshipped his Image These both were cast into a ponde of fyre burnyng with brimstone:

¹ And I saw an angel come doune from heauen, hauing the keye of the bottomlesse pytte, & a greate cheyne in his hand.

¹⁰ & the deuyll that deceyued them, was caste into a lake of fyre and brymstone, where the beast and the false Prophet were & shalbe tormented daye and nyghte for euermore.

⁸ But the fearful and vnbeleuing, & the abhominable, & murtherers, & whoremongers, & sorcerers, & ydolaters, & al lyars shall haue their parte in the lake which burneth wt fyre & brymstone, which is the seconde death.

²⁰ the fyft sardonix: the .vi. sardeos: the .vij. chrysolite the .viij. beral: the .ix. a topas, the tenth a chrisoprasos: the .xi. a Iacint: and the .xij. an amatist.

¹⁵ For without shal be dogges & inchaunters, & whoremongers, and murtherers & Idolaters and whosoeuer loueth or maketh leasynges.
