¹ Who so dwelleth vnder the defence of the most hyest, & abydeth vnder the shadowe of the almightye.

¹⁵ And the fyrre bushe sayd vnto the trees: yf it be true that ye wyl anoint me Kynge ouer you, then come and reste vnder my shadowe, & ye shall se that a fyre shall come out of the fyrre bushe, & waste the Cyper trees of Lybanon.

¹ And Dauid gathered together al the Lordes of Israel: the Lordes of the trybes, the Lordes of the companyes that mynystred to the kyng by course, the Lordes ouer the thousandes and ouer the hundredes, & the Lordes ouer all the goodes and catell of the kynge of his sonnes, with the chambrelaynes warryoures and all actiue men vnto Ierusalem. ² And kyng Dauid stode vpon hys fete, & sayde. Heare me my brethren and my people: I had in myne herte to buylde an house of reste for the arcke of the couenaunt of the Lorde, & a fotestole for oure God, and had made redye to buyld. ³ But God sayd to me: thou shalt not buylde an house for my name, because thou arte a man of warre, & hast shed bloude. ⁴ Moreouer the Lorde God of Israel chose me of all the house of my father, to be kyng ouer Israel for euer, for he chose Iuda to be a capytayne: & in the house of Iuda, the house of my father, and of the sonnes of my father he had a luste to me, to make me kynge ouer all Israel. ⁵ And of all my sonnes (for the Lorde hathe geuen me manye sonnes) he hath chosen Salomon my sonne, to syt in the seate of the kingdom of the Lorde ouer Israel. ⁶ And he sayde vnto me: Salomon thy sonne, he shall buylde my house and my courtes, for I haue chosen hym to be my sonne, and I wyl be hys father ⁷ & wyll stablyshe hys kyngedome for euer, If he wyll harden hym selfe to do my commaundementes, and my lawes, as it goeth thys daye. ⁸ And nowe I saye vnto you before all Israel the congregacyon of the Lorde, and in the audience of oure God: kepe and seke for al the commaundementes of the Lorde your God, that ye maye enioye a good lande, and inheryte youre chyldren after you for euer. ⁹ And thou Salomon my sonne: knowe God thy father, and serue hym with a pure hert, and lust of soule. For the Lorde searcheth all hertes, and vnderstandeth all the Imaginacyons of thoughtes. If thou shalte seke hym, he wylbe founde of the: But & yf thou forsake hym, he wyll caste the of for euer. ¹⁰ Take hede now, for the Lord hath chosen the, to buylde an house of thy sanctuarye. Be stronge, and do it. ¹¹ And Dauid gaue Salomon hys sonne the paterne of the porche & of the houses that longed therto, & of the store houses, vpper chambres, ynner parloures, and of the house of the mercye seate: ¹² and the example of all that was in hys mynde, bothe of the courtes of the house of the Lord and of the treasure houses rounde aboute, for the treasures of the house of God, and for the treasure of the dedicate gyftes, ¹³ and of the companyes of the priestes & Leuytes that wayted by course, & of all workemanshyppe, that shulde serue for the house of the Lorde, ¹⁴ and for all vesselles that shuld serue in the house of the Lorde. And appoynted hym, what wayghte of goulde shoulde serue for thynges of goulde thorowoute all vessels for whatsoeuer vse it serued: and what wayghte of syluer shoulde suffyse for all maner of vesselles of syluer, for whatsoeuer purpose they serued. ¹⁵ And the wayghte of the goulden candelstyckes, and of theyr lampes of goulde, the wayghte for euerye candelsticke, and for theyr lampes. And for the candelstyckes of syluer by wayght, bothe for the candelstycke & also for her lampes accordynge to the offyce of euery candelstycke. ¹⁶ And the waight of gould for the tables of shewe breade, table by table: and lykewyse syluer for the tables of syluer. ¹⁷ And for fleshehokes, basens and drynckynge pottes of pure goulde. And for cuppes of goulde by wayghte, cuppe by cuppe. And for cuppes of syluer by wayght, cuppe by cuppe. ¹⁸ And for the aulter of incense of tryed goulde by wayghte. And the similytude of the seate of the Cherubes that stretched oute theyr winges, and couered the Arcke of the couenaunte of the Lorde. ¹⁹ All was geuen me by wrytynge of the hande of the Lorde, whiche made me vnderstande all the worckemanshippe of the paterne. ²⁰ And Dauid sayde to Salomon hys sonne: harden thy self, and be strong, and do it, feare not, nor let thyne herte dyscourage the. For the Lorde God my God is wyth the, & shall not leaue the nor forsake the, vntyll thou haste fynyshed all the worcke that must serue for the house of the Lorde. ²¹ Beholde the priestes & Leuites deuyded in companyes, for to do all maner of seruyce that pertayneth to the house of God, and besyde that thou haste wyth the for all maner of worckemanshyppe, all that are wyllyng and wyse for anye maner of seruice. And the Lordes and all the people are at thy commaundement in all thynges.

⁸ Kepe me as the apple of an eye, defende me vnder the shadow of thy wynges.

¹³ Hys soule shall dwell at ease, and his sede shal possesse the lande.

⁵ For in the tyme of trouble he hath hydde me in his tabernacle, yea in the secrete place of his dwellynge hath he kept and set me vp vpon a rocke of stone.

²⁰ Thou hydest them priuely by thyne owne presence from the proude men, thou kepeste them secretly in thy tabernacle, from the strife of tonges.

⁷ Thou art my defence in the trouble that is come aboute me, O compasse thou me about also with the ioy of deliuerance. Selah

⁷ How precious is thy mercy, O God, that the chyldren of men maye put their trust vnder the shadowe of thy wynges?

⁸ As for me, I am lyke a grene olyue tree in the house of God: my truste is in the tender mercy of God for euer and euer.

¹ To the Chaunter destroy not Michtam of Dauid, when he fledde from Saull into the caue. Be mercyfull vnto me, O God, be mercyfull vnto me, for my soule trusteth in the: and vnder the shadow of thy winges shal be my refuge, vntyll wyckednes be ouer past.

³ Oh sette me vp vpon an hye rocke. For thou art my hope, a strong tower for me agaynst the enemye. ⁴ I wyll dwell in thy tabernacle for euer, that I maye be safe vnder the couerynge of thy wynges. Selah.

¹ A prayer of Moyses the man of God. Lorde thou art oure refuge from one generacion to another.

⁵ The Lorde him selfe is thy keper, the Lorde is thy defence vpon thy ryght hande.

³ Lyke as the apple tree among the trees of the wood, so is my beloued among the sones. My delyte is to sit vnder hys shadowe, for hys frute is swete vnto my throte.

⁵ Moreouer vpon al the dwellynges of the hyl of Syon, and vpon their whole congregacyon, shal the Lord prouyde a cloude & smoke by daye, and the shynynge of a flammynge fyre by nyght: for all their glorye shalbe preserued. ⁶ And Ierusalem shall be a tabernacle for a shadowe because of hete in the daye tyme, a place and refuge where a man may kepe him for wether and rayne.

¹⁴ For he is the sanctifyeng, and stone to stomble at the rocke to fall vpon, a snare and net to both the houses, to Israell, and the inhabitours of Ierusalem.

⁴ For thou art the poore mans helpe, a strength for the neadful in his necessyte. Thou art a defence against euyll wether, a shadow agaynst the hete. But vnto the presumptuous, thou art lyke a stronge whyrle wynde, that casteth doune

² He shalbe vnto men as a defence for the wynde, & as a refuge for the tempeste, like as a riuer of water in a thurstye place, and the shadowe of a great rocke in a drye land.

²⁰ Res. The verye breth of oure mouth: euen the anoynted Lorde him self shalbe taken in oure synnes, of whom we saye: Vnder his shadowe we shalbe preserued amonge the Heythen.

¹⁶ Therfore tell them, thus sayth the Lorde God: I wyll sende you farre of amonge the Gentyles, and scatre you amonge the nacyons, & I wyll halowe you but a lytle, in the landes where ye shal come.

⁵ Yea, I wolde be vnto Israel as the dewe, and he shulde growe as the lylye, and hys rote shulde breake oute as Lybanus. ⁶ His braunches shulde sprede oute abroade, and be as fayre as the olyue tre, and smell sa Lybanus.

¹⁵ Whosoeuer confesseth, that Iesus is the sonne of God, in him dwelleth God and he in God. ¹⁶ And we haue knowen & beleued the loue that God hath to vs. God is loue, and he that dwelleth in loue, dwelleth in God, and god in hym.
