¹ A Psalme of Asaph. O God, the Heathen are fallen into thyne heritage: the holy temple haue they defiled, and made Ierusalem an heape of stones.

¹⁷ Brynge them in, & plante them in the mountayns of thyne enherytaunce, the place Lorde whych thou hast made for to dwell in, the sanctuary Lord, which thy handes haue prepared.

¹² Therfore thus sayth the Lord God of Israel. Beholde, I wyl brynge suche euyl vpon Ierusalem and Iuda, that the eares of all that heare it, shall tyngle at it. ¹³ And I wyll stretche ouer Ierusalem the squarynge lyne of Samaria and the plometh of the house of Ahab. And I wyl wype out Ierusalem, as a man would wipe a dyshe, and when he hath wyped, it turneth it vpsedoune. ¹⁴ And though I leue a remnaunt of myne enheritaunce, yet I wyl delyuer them into the handes of them that hate them, and they shalbe robbed and spoyled of al their enemies: ¹⁵ euen because they haue done wyckedly and haue angred me, sence the time theyr fathers came out of Egypte vnto thys daye. ¹⁶ And therto Manasseh shed innocent bloud exceadynge aboundantly, in so mnche that he replenysshed Ierusalem in all corners, beside his synne wherwyth he made Iuda synne & to do euyl in the syght of the Lorde.

¹³ And he caryed oute thence all the treasure of the house of the Lorde, and the treasure of the kynges house, and brake all the vesselles of goulde, whyche Salomon kynge of Israel had made, in the temple of the Lorde, as the Lorde had sayde.

⁴ And therto the cytye was broken vp: wherfore al the men of Armes fled by nyght, by a waye thorowe a Gate, betwene two walles harde on the Kynges garden: the Caldeyes lyenge aboute the cytie. And the kynge went strayght towarde the deserte. ⁵ And the hoste of the Caldeyes folowed after him, and toke hym in the deserte of Iericho, all his armye beynge scatered awaye from him. ⁶ And when they had taken him, they brought him to Nabuchodonozor the kynge of Babilon to Reblah, where they reasoned wyth him. ⁷ And they slue the sonnes of Zedekiah before hys eyes, and put out the eyes of Zedekiah, and fettered him, and caried him to Babylon. ⁸ And the seuenthe day of the fyfth moneth which was in the nintenth yeare of king Nabuchodonozor kynge of Babylon, came Nabusaradan seruaunte of the kinge of Babilon, and chefe Marshal, vnto Ierusalem: ⁹ and burnte the house of the Lorde and the kynges house, and all the houses of Ierusalem, and al greate houses burnte he wyth fyre, ¹⁰ And al the hoste of the Caldeyes that were with the chefe Marshal, brake doune the walles of Ierusalem rounde aboute.

³ For the kynge of Egypte put him doune at Ierusalem and merced the lande in an hundred talentes of syluer and a talent of gold. ⁴ And the kyng of Egypt made Eliakim his brother kyng vpon Iuda & Ierusalem, and turned hys name vnto Iehoakim, but Iehoaha; his brother Necho toke & caried hym to Egypte.

⁶ Againste hym came Nabuchodonozor kynge of Babilon & bounde him in fetters to carye him to Babilon. ⁷ Therto the kynge Nabuchodonozor caried the vessels of the house of the Lord to Babilon and put them in hys temple at Babilon.

¹⁷ And so he brought vpon them the kyng of Caldeye & slue theyr young men with the swerde in theyr holy temple, & nether spared younge man nor mayden, nether olde man, nether so moche as hym that stowped for age: But gaue all into his hande.

¹⁹ And they burnt the house of God and brake downe the walles of Ierusalem, and burnt all the palaces therof with fyre with all the goodly stoffe therof, and marred it.

¹ An instruccion of Asaph. O God, wherfore doest thou cast vs so cleane away? why is thy wrath so hoote agaynste the shepe of thy pasture? ² O thynke vpon thy congregacion, whome thou hast purchased from the beginnyng: the stafe of thyne enheritaunce, whome thou hast redemed, euen this hyll of Sion wherein thou dwellest. ³ Treade vpon them with thy fete, and cast them doune to the grounde, for the enemye hath destroyed altogether in the Sanctuary. ⁴ Thyne aduersaries roare in thy houses, & set vp their banners for tokens.

⁷ They haue set fyre vpon the Sanctuary, they haue defyled the dwellyng place of thy name, euen vnto the grounde. ⁸ Yea, they say in their hertes: let vs spoyle them altogether, thus haue they brent vp all the houses of God in the lande.

⁷¹ As he was folowynge the yewes greate with yonge, he toke him, that he myghte fede Iacob hys people, & Israel hys enherytance.

¹² Why haste thou then broken doune her hedge, that all they whiche go by, plucke of her grapes? ¹³ Then wylde bore out of the wood hath roted it vp, and the beastes of the felde haue deuoured it.

⁶ I was so wroth with my people, that I punished myne enheritaunce, & gaue them into thy power. Neuertheles, thou shewedeste them no mercy, but euen the very aged men of them, didest thou oppresse ryght sore wyth thy yock,

¹⁸ Micheah the Morasthite, which was a Prophet vnder Ezekiah kynge of Iuda, spake to all the people of Iuda: Thus sayeth the Lorde of Hostes: Syon shalbe plowed lyke a felde, Ierusalem shalbe an heape of stones, and the hyll of the Lordes house shalbe turned to an hye wood.

⁸ Moreouer, the Caldees brent vp the kinges palace, with the other houses of the people, and brake doune the walles of Ierusalem.

¹³ & brent vp the house of the Lorde. He brent vp also the kynges palaces, all the houses & all the gorgeous buildinges in Ierusalem.

¹⁰ Iod. The enemye hath put his hande to all the precious thynges that she had, yee euen before her eyes came the Heathen in & out of the Sanctuarye: whom thou (neuertheles) hast forbydden to come within thy congregacyon.

²⁰ because they made therof not only costly Ieweles for their pompe and pryde, but also abhomynable ymages and Idoles. For this cause wyll I make them to be abhorred. ²¹ Moreouer, I will geue it into the handes of the straungers to be spoyled: and to the wycked, for to be robbed, and they shall destroye it.

⁷ for he had sayde vnto them: When ye haue defyled the temple, and fylled the courte wyth the slayne, then go your waye forth. So they went oute, & slewe doune the slaughter,

¹² Therfore shall Syon (for youre sakes) be plowed lyke a felde: Ierusalem shalbe come an heape of stones, and the hyll of the temple shalbe turned to an hye wodde.

²⁴ And they shall fall on the edge of the swearde, and shalbe lead captyue into all nacyons. And Ierusalem shalbe troden vnder fote of the gentyls vntyll the tyme of the gentyls be fulfylled.

² and the quyre whiche is wythin the temple caste out and meate it not: for it is geuen vnto the Gentyles and the holy cytye shal they treade vnder fote .xlij. monethes.
